Review: They will not refund your money. Does not state clearly that you will be charged a monthly fee.

Wen on-line to create resume. Agreed to the $1.95 charge. Did not state that I was under a 14 day trial period and charged $39.95 automatically from my account after the 14 days was up. Will not refund the money.Desired Settlement: The website should state clearly that you are under a 14 day trial period and that $39.95 will be automatically taken from your account.

Hello,When the customer subscribed to our Trial subscription, He/She accepted our terms of agreement which stated that they would be receiving our subscription services and that the Trial would auto-renew into a Monthly subscription on a specific date. Our services are not a one time purchase, but an ongoing subscription. They had the option to cancel at any time during the 14 day trial period to prevent the auto-renewal and in order to avoid future charges. The cancellation process is very simple: Log in > My Account >> Plan Information >>> Cancel This will confirm that the account was successfully canceled. The customer will continue to have access to all of the features of our website until the next month at which time the access will be limited to the features of our Lite Account or Free Account. To download a digital copy of the resume for free they have the option to choose the TEXT format which will not require them to make any payments. However, all other services require a payment as stated above and according to our Terms of Use. No additional charges will be levied against their credit card as long as the account remains canceled. Should they reactivate the account, the credit card will be charged accordingly. When the customer purchased the account we provided instructions on how to cancel, along with the specific date and time at which the billing cycle would take place. We informed that it needed to be canceled on a timely manner. We recognize that the account is now cancelled, however, the cancellation came after the billing cycle had already occurred. The information regarding our Subscription Service is NOT in fine print and can be located in our Terms of Use, Plan Comparison, Sales Receipt, Plan Information and Alerts.I am sorry to inform this, but as per our Terms of Use, the customer is responsible for the charges incurred. Review: RGO resumes is using unlawful legal practices when luring its customers to pay for their services. The company uses covert sales tactics against its customers by not clearly stating what they are signing up for. The company disguises its service to appear as if it is only charging you for one resume, but in reality it is not. According to Resume Genius, the company needs you to cancel the membership within 14 days or they continue charging your account. This information becomes of useful knowledge the problem becomes that the customer has to go through the difficulty of reading pages of the contract to see what they are signing up for. The company does state that you have 14 days of access for 1.95 and that if you are not pleased with the service within 14 days they will refund your money. These nicely put terms of agreement are made very visible for the customer to see. However, in order for the customer to know exactly what they are paying for they have to scroll through endless pages of contract and hidden fees that was never made visible to them. If the company has the intention of charging for subscription they should place this in their website, and make it visible for customers to see. If not, then customers are not agreeing to this service, with the exception of those who will read a contract for 20 minutes, to only find out that they are then hidden fees. This is not a just nor legal business practice. Customers deserve the right to know what they are paying for. The company has charged me twice, once in May and now in June, because of this and refuses to acknowledge what they are doing wrong. I had been ill during May and was unable to check my statement until now, and I was very disappointed with their service. I understand that they are a business, but I need to know exactly what I am paying for and it needs to be made visible to me when I am paying for it. This is deceptive and unregulated behavior. I am sure like myself, there are many others.Desired Settlement: Removing charges from account in May and June.

Hello,Your site is highly deceptive and difficult to navigate for customers regarding this terms of use agreement that you mentioned. The terms of use are almost hidden between pages of contract, and what your site appears to be offering is false advertising. If the intention of the company is to purchase a monthly subscription, this should be noted on the main webpage and not be hidden. Although the customer is provided the terms of agreement, as mentioned, a day to day customer does not expect for this company to be utilizing deception business advertising when the site solely advertises for its one use resume. Your company is engaged in bait and switch advertising, and claims to promote a different service than what is specified in the terms of use. There is no mutual understanding between customer and company. I did not agree to false advertising.

Review: Company misrepresented the services they offered. I searched online for "free resume builder." My online search directed me to "Resume Genius: Free Resume Builder / Resume Builder." I proceeded to site and clicked on "Write my Resume Now" button. I then selected template and entered all my information. At no time, does the site tell you there will be a charge. I save and continue and eventually attempt to "Proceed to Download." The next page that appears offers "14-Days Full Access for $1.95" or "Monthly Access for $7.95." The "14 Days full Access is preselected by default and there is a "continue" button at bottom of page. Once you select "Continue" you are required to "Complete Registration" before you are allowed to proceed. Despite being advertised as a "Free Resume Builder," the site would not allow me to proceed and download the resume I created. Being frustrated, I paid the $1.95 so that I could actually download all the info I had previously entered. When I finally downloaded the info, I was even more frustrated with myself for the time I wasted on the company's site. That was on Nov 3rd. The email confirmation that I was sent simply stated that I paid $1.95 for a 14 Day Trial Subscription. I never returned to the site or even thought about it until a $39.95 payment was posted to my account on Nov 18th. I contacted the company on Nov 24th to discuss how disappointed I was only to be told that I should have read everything before I agreed to the service. Now that I have reviewed all the information, I am extremely upset that this company is allowed to operate in this way. If this is not an example of "bait and switch" and deceitful advertising, then I am unsure as to what would qualify as such.Desired Settlement: While it would be nice to receive a refund, I would rather see to it that the company changes its deceptive practices. For example, when the company gave me the option between the $1.95 14-Days Full Access or the Monthly Access of $7.95, this appears to be the only place that "After 14 days, auto-renews $39.95 per month" is displayed. The auto-renews message never appeared on the confirmation email that was sent to me nor was I ever notified that the trial period was about to expire. I can only assume that the company's only source of income actually comes from deceiving others. The company's "Monthly Access" only costs $7.95 so why is it that they try to collect $1.95 in addition to the $39.95 from customers who don't even want the service within the first month? When I tried to research the company further, I stumbled upon numerous other consumers who had the the same experience. In other words, while $39.95 may be worth arguing about, I would rather see to it this company is not allowed to make its profits simply by deceiving people.

Review: I signed up for a 14 day trial with this company and they - without notifying me - rolled it over to a premium monthly subscription. I believe this is fraud. I did not authorize payment beyond the 14 days. Companies like this should be ashamed of themselves and their shady business practices.Desired Settlement: A refund of the monthly charges would be nice, since I never approved payment.

I found this site online and spent the initial $40 to help me format my resume. Months later I logged into my credit card account and noticed at they were charging me $40/month every month since I used the service. I think that the site is a total scam. Why would someone need to pay monthly for a one-time resume format? I contacted customer service and was given a very robotic response. Not helpful at all. You could see that I used the site only one day but was charged hundreds of dollars. I would have referred so many people to this site had they responded more professionally to me. This business will not last if they don't manage customer service better. Referrals grow your business- and they will not be getting any from me.

Review: Company says that they have fraud issues.

I had all ready tried to get resume genuis to give me a refund prior to this but now I am fearful my credit card information will be stolen. I had accidentally purchased the annual subscription under the impression it was $7.95 a month only to find it is $95 a year. I recieved an email almost two weeks later saying 10 days of your 14 day trial are up.I called the company, the agent I spoke with,[redacted] said there was no such email sent. Later that day, I recieved an email from neils supervisor [redacted] saying that he checked with the fraud department, and resume genuis did not send an email. I had trusted this company with personal information and I am terrified that information will be leaked and wind up in the wrong hands.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for fear of credit card information being stolen, and an apology from the company.

Review: I signed up with this company originally to produce a resume for an upcoming job offer. I knew that I would be charged a one time fee of $1.95 cents for a limited trial....what I DID NOT know, is that I would be subsequently charged a fee of $39.95 for both October and November for a 1 month pro subscription that I never ordered!!!!

I feel that this is a deceptive practice, and would like a full refund.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded $39.95 X 2 which will equal a total of $79.90

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I was making a resume for a job and came across Resume Genius. I began to make my resume that was titled as free and when I got to the point of saving it, I was required to sign up for an account and give my debit card information. After spending almost an hour working on this resume I was too invested to start with a different website. So, to begin with, the website was very misleading. Here is the real problem, I requested to have my account deleted via their chat service in order to avoid the monthly $40 cost. It seems the first resume was "free" as long as you canceled your account immediately afterwards, which I pursued. However, my bank account as of yesterday is showing a charge for $39.50 from Resume Genius (RGO). I have not used the service since I created my first resume and when I reached out to their staff in order to get this resolved since I did accurately attempt to delete my account because I didn't want to pay the $40 monthly fee (something I was roped into as their resumes are advertised as free and are not) and they were very cold and unhelpful and just generated responses on how I agreed to the terms and services and did not acknowledge the fact that I tried to delete my account with them and I guess the follow up was unsuccessful on their end. This business is a scam.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the $39.95 that I did not agree to pay and took the measurements required to avoid that.

Review: I canceled my membership and have not accessed this service since initially checking it out during the trial period. I decided I did not need their service and canceled it. I was just reviewing my bank statement and found two charges for $39.95 on my debit account. This is unacceptable, and they will not refund it because they claim I did not cancel. They failed to send a cancellation email, which I did not know I should receive. They also claimed no supervisor was available to assist me. I said they could check to see I had not logged in to use the service since the first time checking it, but conveniently they say they can't check that. Although I would think they could see if a user has logged into his or her account. I would like a refund, and I also plan to follow up with the AG because it is likely I'm not the only one they are ripping off.Desired Settlement: Full refund for August and September $39.95 x 2. $79.90

Review: I needed to create a resume. The home page of resumegenius.com says "Free Resume Templates" down the page it says you can download it to Word and PDF. I spent an hour using the free template, but then was told I would have to pay to do the download to Word or as a PDF - no where on the home page does it say there will be a fee to get the template - it says it is free. When I did the on-line chat with someone there, they told me I could get the download for less than what it originally said, but to get it free, I could only receive it as a text - which was never mentioned on the home page. I would never have wasted my time if they had been forward about their product to begin with. False, False False with what they are saying they will do!!!!!!Desired Settlement: Fix their website so that they are honest in their claims right from the start.

Review: My college age daughter went on line to get help writing a resume. Resume Genius advertises as a free service. Then once you get your info entered says it costs $1.99. What they fail to tell you is that if you do not cancel within 14 days you will be charged $39.95 per month indefinitely. When contacted they refuse to talk refund because they say you are bound by the terms and conditions. My daughter went on line to this site once and has had to pay almost $120! She had no idea there was a monthly charge. It is deceptive at best. To continue to charge her account monthly when she did not use it is inexcusable.Desired Settlement: That they will be contacted and warned about the deceptive nature of their website and required to refund customers who thought they were signing up for a one time charge. That we will be refunded the $119.85 (39.95 x3 ) - $1.99 which she thought the service cost.

It does not surprise me that Resume Builder was able to respond swiftly and with significant detail including screen shots. Clearly defending their questionable business practices is something that they are called upon to do regularly. So, let me present my screen shots as well.I invite you to visit their website. (SCREEN SHOT 1) Page 1 in large letters it says “Free Resume Builder”. No mention of any charges, even small ones. I took the “1 minute tour”. Again no mention of charges, just a commercial for how Resume Builder can help applicants set themselves apart in a competitive job market. If you choose to pursue this method of resume construction you will have no choice but to begin completing data that will populate their format. The first area to enter information contains this line, “ Register for a free account to receive lifetime access to your resume”. Again, the F word. (SCREEN SHOT 2)Once you enter your data, you will have to hit Download Resume Now button to proceed. This is the first time that you can see anything about pricing. There are two options. (SCREEN SHOT 3) The 14 days full access states that it is $1.95. It’s not free! But if you have already entered all your data, you will probably want to proceed. Read down further. The column describing 14 days full access says unlimited number of resumes and cover letters, unlimited download to MS Word and & PDF, after 14 days auto renews $39.95 per month, pay as you go service. Cancel anytime. Hmmm….automatically renews each month. Shouldn’t this be at the top in BOLD LETTERS? Shouldn’t there be some kind of reminder? Pay as you go. They make it sound so pleasant as if they were doing us a favor. The next screen talks about free again! “Register to save your work and access it anytime FREE”. (SCREEN SHOT 4)Please review the terms and conditions. Are you kidding me? This screen shot just does not do it justice. (SCREEN SHOT 5) It is very, very long. My mortgage contract is shorter. Is it realistic to expect a customer to review in detail before they click to move forward? I think not. Here is what is curious to me. When I went on the site after I saw what happened to my daughter, I gave only enough info to investigate the site. I had to give my email address. I received multiple emails urging me to complete the process. If the same effort was placed into reminding customers of their trial period expiration, there would be problem.Clearly this site is designed to deceive. If you google free resume templates, there it is. It states “free resume templates”. You cannot find out cost until you enter data. There is no effort on the part of the company to email you info about your 14 day trial. The terms and conditions are extremely lengthy. And when you contact their customer service department you are given the standard talking points and reminded that you are legally liable. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told she was in a meeting. Based on other complaints that I have seen on line, this is a common practice. You can only pursue the matter further by emailing “Betty”. Then you receive a form letter email strikingly similar to the response you received from them. They did not respond to me when I asked how they could justify $120 in charges for someone that visited their site one time. How can a company call their service free repeatedly and then rely on a click to represent acceptance of their multiple page terms and conditions? This is a highly predatory business model. While it may pass someone’s concept of legal, it is highly unethical. I wonder how many jobless individuals have been ripped off by Resume Genius. I think we should expect more from companies than to prey on unsuspecting consumers.

Review: I opened an account with your company (Resume Genius) on December 2nd to create a resume. Knowing I would not be using the website again, I logged back in about a week later (December 7th) to cancel my account, well within the time period allowed. I checked back into my account later the following week to make sure everything was taken care of, and under my account it showed the account had been cancelled on December 9th. I assumed the different date was because the last time I logged in was a Sunday (December 7th) and it may have taken a few days to post? I never logged back into Resume Genius again.

On the morning of December 23rd, I received an email from Resume Genius telling me my account had been cancelled, but I still had until sometime in January to access the website. I was confused by this e-mail and the time delay, so I logged into my credit card account and saw there was a transaction posted from Resume Genius (RGO technologies) on December 17th in the amount of $39.95 for a monthly access fee. I then went back into my resume genius account to verify it was closed and it showed a cancel date of 12/9/14. I then contacted customer care about this, and the response I received was that I had not cancelled my account within the 14 day trial and was subject to the $39.95 monthly fee. They did not show the account as having been cancelled until 12/23/14. At that time I logged back into resume genius to look at my account status, and the post from December 9th had mysteriously disappeared and the only post showing the account had been cancelled was on December 23rd. I have tried to go back into my web history to get a screen shot of this, but because I had logged back into the website, the most recent account history is all that is there. I also did not receive the cancellation e-mail until December 23rd, which I'm not sure why it would take more than two weeks to receive it other than for your company to be deceitful. I did not cancel my account on December 23rd.

I have not spoken to anyone over the phone; all my correspondence has been through email.

Like most people who are working on a resume; I am currently unemployed, and the Mother of two young boys. Being slammed with an extra $39.95 during the month of December is a substantial burden to me and my family. I cannot believe the dishonesty and lack of compassion I have received from this companies "customer care team." I will continue to do everything in my control to let others know of your business practices, and to be wary of utilizing your offered services.Desired Settlement: I did my due diligence of logging into Resume Genius before the 14 day trial was over, and closing my account....however, somehow my post was deleted once I disputed the credit card charge and changed to another date. I would like the $39.95 that was charged to my credit card fraudulently, credited back to my account.

I called them to dispute the charge but they refused to refund me.Desired Settlement: Refund $39.95+1.19=41.14

Review: Resume Genius has charged my bank account $39.95 without my knowledge, and is refusing to refund my account. I was under the impression that I was paying for an online resume template, which was around $1.50, however they have charged me a substantial amount extra. I called their customer service department and smoke with the manager, who gave me much attitude and mocked my request. He claims that the information about the charge was in the terms and conditions, however in no outward way did they ask for my permission to be a monthly member.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the $39.95 that I paid.

Review: RGO technologies is an online resume building service. When you login in, it tells you that their service is 1.95 and if you dont cancel before your trial period, they will charge you 39.95. I used this service once before and was only charged the 1.95 as far as I know, but they are saying I logged back in during my "trial period" however long that was supposed to be and they immediately charged my card 39.95. The screen showed my account information from before and said I would be charged 1.95 and then 39.95 if I dont cancel before the "trial period. There was no message about my card being billed immediately for 39.95. The only way I found out was my bank called the next day to see if I had authorized this charge. I called to complain and they would not refund my money because they said it was clearly stated which it was not. I asked repeatedly to talk to a manager and I told over and over that the manager was "in a meeting" and finally the representative hung up on me. The Live Chat person also ended our chat when I asked for my money back.Desired Settlement: I want the the company to refund my 39.95 back to my debit card.

Review: Hello, This company has was been taking $29.00 out of my bank account since June of last year on a monthly basis. I rarely look at my bank statement but because I was locked out my account I had to call the bank and in doing that I discovered that this company in which I never heard of before nor did I ever sign up with has Fraudulently gotten ahold of my information and has been taking monthly drafts out of my account. When I called them I got someone on the phone that was unable to tell me anything and stated their were in fact going to stop taking payments and would pass my information on to the manager. in which I never received a call back yet. I then call again and was told to email the manager they would not give me a name or anything. This is unprofessional and has cost me well over $522.00, I work hard for my money and would appreciate if someone could help me retrieve it from this company. I have never used there service nor have I ever heard of their service. What steps do I need to take in order to retrieve my money.Desired Settlement: my money returned to my account

Review: I initiated what I thought was going to be a one time charge of 7.95 for a one month subscription for access to a resume site - I was charged 95.40. I immediately contacted the business and they indicated that was the fee for the monthly service, a year in advance. I asked them to cancel my service immediately and issue a refund. they said they cancelled it immediately but the would not issue a refund. I then printed out and pointed out the money back guarantee and they said that was for 14days only. I said I called you the moment you charged my card 95.40 and they said because I authorized a monthly charge there is no satisfaction guarantee - I said it clear at the bottom of the page here that the satisfaction guarantee is NOT listing that you can ONLY take advantage of it if you select a specific payment plan. They are refusing to issue any type of refund for any reason. I contacted them with in minutes of my card being charged. Still today - it has not even been 14days. My financial institution called them also, they are still maintaining that I authorized the charge of 95.40 so my bank will not refund the charge.

I need help getting these monies refunded based on the satisfaction guarantee they offered and are NOT honoring.Desired Settlement: Please have them refund to the card they charged. I live on social security disability and I would never have made a charge for 95.40 on my card knowingly. I truly thought based on the screen shots I was going to be charged 7.95 with the option to cancel after 1 month and that there was a 14day cancellation period for satisfaction guarantee.

Review: In April 2015 my 16 year minor son was able to go online where the search promoted him to create a resume for $1.95, the feature must be cancelled in 14 days, now its billing $39.99 EVERY MONTH indefinitely!! I contacted the "customer service" number for this company which there was no supervisor or owner available nor did they know the presidents/ceo name. I informed them there was no information in writing they are now doing an automatic debit/draft every month nor an email confirmation/or payment receipt from them at any time for any month that this charge has been charged continuously to my account. so that this can be monitored. They advised they do not credit accounts and they will just cancel future charges. This company is deceptive and their goal is to get the so called $1.95 one time charge only to bill $39.99 every month with no other trace of the charges, no email confirmations of payments, nothing in writing, nor any other type of alerts. A minor should not be able to agree/set up an automatic indefinite paymentDesired Settlement: I demand this company who used deceptive sneaky tactics to access my account and charge $39.99 for months to credit $271 BACK to my credit card
