I utilize Robinhood for some of my trading. I placed a bet on *** last Friday with the plan to sell it if it spiked this morning. I went to set the order to do so this morning and the order would not execute because I was unable to connect to the server. I have tried for almost 2 hours now and have had no success. I emailed the company to ask what was going on and I have received no response. I have not received any general update either despite countless issues being reported by the people that use their app. My money is trapped and I do not know how this will proceed. I have asked them to return my money immediately and have been given no response. I will be terminating my association with them and feel they should be punished for this willful negligence.

the company is withholding my money and not allowing the ability to trade or save losses, due to the current market volatility. I needed to sell stocks and some options that are expiring this week. The fact that the market trading day is almost over and they still have everyone's money frozen and inaccessible. I am not sure if this is a scam and they are getting ready to steal all our money and run away.

Robinhood Financial Response • Mar 11, 2020

The customer's original complaint did not address his issues with accessing his account, which is why it was not addressed in our response. There are no restrictions on his account so he should have full access to his account.

Stock trading hours are Mon-Fri 9:30am EST to 4pm EST. The Robinhood Brokerage app/platform has severely affected many people today based on the fact that you cannot access the platform (sell, buy, find a contact number...). I was with my tax professionals trying to finalize my tax return and I needed to retrieve my 1099 from their platform. I paid good money to not be able to retrieve something as simple as my 1099 - and there was no phone number to call (actually I found one - but it appears that it was disconnected or something - it was posted by an angry Robinhood client). If their platform does not function appropriately, then it needs to be shut down immediately. Millions of people were affected today in many ways. Robinhood has a statutory obligation to provide me with my 1099 before 2/15. The document should be accessible at all times, or at the very least, during a business day (been trying for hours now to get it and still cannot). I have no idea if I sale orders that I placed this morning went through. I have seen glitches before in this platform; however, nothing NEARLY of this magnitude. I am unsure how they are going to make it right with their clients and survive as a business; however, I want compensation. I was able to research how to move my funds to another brokerage and Robinhood apparently allows that - however, they require a $75 fee to do so. I hope that the SEC is also investigating this matter.

To Whom It May Concern;

This official complaint is against Robinhood Financial, LLC - ***

I was unable to place trades during the day of March 2, 2020. I attempted to place Call options for SPY and was unable to place orders between the times 09:31 EST and 15:59 EST when the market was open, which resulted to a loss of potential earnings. I also had a put option that I was unable to get rid of where I could of also realized capital gains which has incurred a loss of capital as a result.

I have put the majority of my funds into Robinhood showing my trust and faith in Robinhood's Products, Services, Staff, and Mission Statement. Robinhood's extended downtime during regular business hours has resulted in a breach of trust as a consumer.

I am tempted to transfer all of my remaining funds out of Robinhood and into competitor's trading platforms and take my business elsewhere.

I officially have two requests for Robinhood if they wish to retain myself as a customer:

1) The first request is to reimburse my account with losses incurred between the time of March 02, 2020 at 09:30 EST to March 03, 2020 at 09:30 EST.

2) The second request is to compensate myself as a customer who has not been able to utilize Robinhood's service during normal business hours as outlined by SLAs requirements within SEC guidlines.

I request a total amount of $25,000 to be added to my Robinhood Margin account for loss of wages as well as an inconvenience fee for Robinhood's gross negligence of maintaining systems. The requested amount of $25,000 shall consist of $15,000 for potential loss of wages and $10,000 for an inconvenience fee for excessive pain and suffering inflicted.

If these conditions are met, I would still be willing to use Robinhood's services perpetually as a forever loyal customer.

I opened an account in February of 2019 and didn't even use the app. Beginning end of January 2020, this app has been withdrawing funds from my bank account in amounts close to $40 per withdrawal. I just caught it and am working with my bank to recover this money. I can't get into the app and trying to reset my password doesn't work. I contacted their help center and they requested information to confirm who I am. I gave them enough for any company to validate and they say they don't see me in their database and they are asking for more information. I'm going to cut my losses and go the social media route to spread this information. Robinhood, don't respond to this comment like you have to everyone else with some canned answer that feigns caring. Something is going on that's really shady within that company. I'm sticking with Schwab in the future.

Robinhood stock trading platform is openly manipulating clients, including me. They sell options contracts, and took them offline this morning. Nobody can buy the ones I want to sell, if they are not available. I got error messages saying I was offline, but I wasn't, it was their software. I've lost plenty of money with them, now when I had a chance to make it back, they disable features, taking away my ability to act. Has to work both ways. Can't get anybody on phone, been trying for months. This is not how a brokerage firm should be allowed to act.
They need to acknowledge these accusations, not to me, but to ***. Many complaints online about this. They should not be allowed to operate like this. They took away my ability to make money on the most active day in the market in years. They had no problem or glitches when I lost money.

I tried to join *** on 2/16/2020. I received a rejection email stating that I already had an account, and to verify myself with last four digits of social security number, date of birth, and zip code. They said there was a discrepancy in my reply, and requested that I submit my drivers license. I did so. Then they asked for a picture of my social security card. I did so. They responded back that my account was under [yahoo email address]. I responded back stating that wasn't me and this is a fraudulent account. They once again responded that I opened the account on October 2019, and asked if that information sounded accurate. I told them no, that is not me at all. They stopped responding to my emails. I sent them 3 emails under the same email thread, and 1 additional email in a new thread. It's been 5 days and nobody has reached out to me. I've tried calling. My investigator from *** has tried calling and emailing. Nobody is reaching back out to us.

See the attached letter that was sent to the customer. Thanks!

I closed a bank account I had and unlinked it from my robinhood account. I linked my new account to my robinhood account because I still have money left on the app. (I don't like the way it operates is why I I'm trying to leave the app) they wouldn't transfer my money into my account. They demanded a state id which I provided and now they want a reason why I closed MY old bank account which I feel is none of their business. Its MY money n I've linked my chime account to the app and they refuse to deposit my money onto my card

Please see attached letter that was sent to the customer.

I am a new investor on Robinhood. As I was going through a learning curve and make my mistake. I have a couple reversals deposits and Robin Hood lock my account up. They disable my ability to transfer my own hard earn cash out of Robin Hood account unless I pay them a Ransom they demanded before they will release my account. They also would not allow me to transfer money out to my bank or to a different brokerage account unless I pay up. They keep on giving me misinformation on the amount I need to pay up Before they will give me access to my cash. They suck me in to a point where I am stuck in a cycle Where I no more money to pay the ransom.
I am currently going through a lay off and told them I DON'T have the money to keep on paying their scam but they don't care. These people don't have a heart or virtual. I am writing this review base on my best knowledge and hope nobody will get scam by their policy. They tell me the reason I need to make the reversals deposit is because of money laundry law and for my own safety. I am not afraid if they do a background check on me about what they accused me off.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you. At Robinhood, we pride ourselves in customer satisfaction. We would like to let you know that we take customer feedback very seriously and we are always striving to improve our services. Our staff diligently looked into your concerns. Please see below for more details.
You initiated a deposit for $3,700.00 on January 28, 2020 which was subsequently reversed due to insufficient funds. Although ACH deposits take up to five business days to land in your account, your Robinhood Instant account gives you access to instant buying power based on the deposits made even though those deposits have not yet settled, so you were able to use these margin funds to trade and earn a profit. However, the margin funds extended to you were based on the expectation that your deposits would be completed successfully, which did not happen in this case.
Robinhood provides instant buying power on the good faith that your transfers will go through, but the necessary funds must still be made available in your bank account at the time of settlement to prevent reversals from occurring. The restriction was placed on your account because you used funds made available to you in instant buying power to trade, but the underlying deposits that caused those margin funds to be made available to you were reversed. A final review of your account shows that a good faith deposit in the amount of $10,761.92 will be required before the restriction can be lifted to demonstrate that you intended to make the deposit that was reversed. This figure represents the amount of Robinhood funds that you used to place trades, and since those trades were technically not funded by you, the associated gains can not be withdrawn until the trades have been covered by your funds.
We apologize for any inconvenience this process may have caused you. We very much appreciate your business and certainly understand that there is always room to improve our services.
Sincerely,
Robinhood Compliance

After having a transfer reversed for $4700 my account was locked for both buying and withdrawing funds available. The Transfer reversal did not leave my account with a negative balance but I'm being told the money has to be "replaced" before they will allow me to access my own funds even after the $4700 that was granted instantly was removed from the balance. I'm being told this is a "security" issue. A bank transfer in no way does anything to verify there is no security issue. It's clear the "security" issue is the issue that they don't get to float my transfer to gain interest off it. I have fulfilled my end by returning the amount that was given to me. I want to close my account and withdraw my funds but have been told that I must deposit $4700 again and wait for it to clear to do so. I will not do this as I will just be pulling the money out afterwords to close the account.

Account Frozen, I can not withdraw my funds, they sold all my stocks without permission for a loss, they have no phone number to call, they ignore emails, They are demanding that I deposit more money before they "considered" lifting restricts. This company is a scam. I encourage everyone to file complaints with SEC and Finra. I am so pissed off that I am offering to file your complaints for you free of charge. They cant advantage of people. Do not let them do this to you.

As previously stated in our response to your SEC complaint:
“Specifically, you initiated a deposit of $4,000 and $1,000 on February 9, 2020, which were subsequently reversed due to insufficient funds. Although ACH deposits take up to five business days to land in your account, with a Robinhood Gold and Robinhood Instant account, it gives you access to instant buying power based on the deposits made even though those deposits have not yet settled, so you were able to use borrowed funds to trade crypto. However, the funds extended to you was based on the expectation that your deposits would be completed successfully, which did not happen in this case.
Robinhood provides instant buying power on the good faith that your transfers will go through, but the necessary funds must still be made available in your bank account at the time of settlement to prevent reversals from occurring. The ach restriction was placed on your account because you used funds made available to you in instant buying power to trade, but the underlying deposits that caused those margin funds to be made available to you were reversed. Accordingly, we liquidated your crypto position to cover the outstanding margin call, which was a direct result of the ach reversals.
That being said, as explained by our support agent, a good faith deposit in the amount of $429.41 was required before the restriction was able to be lifted to demonstrate that you intended to make the deposits that were reversed.
On February 26, 2020, your deposit to cover the outstanding amount landed successfully. Accordingly, your withdrawal restrictions were removed and you initiated a ($2,286.57) withdrawal for the remaining funds out of your Robinhood account. Therefore, your issue appears resolved.”
We apologize for any inconvenience this process may have caused you. We very much appreciate your business and certainly understand that there is always room to improve our services. If there are any other issues that need to be addressed, now or in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Robinhood has a predatory practice that involves their Gold account offering. They do not offer a way to pay for it based on a credit card on file or direct withdrawal from the account on file. The only way they take payment for this account upgrade is by creating a negative balance on the account's equity. Additionally, there seems to be a glitch in cancelling Robinhood Gold account upgrades. This situation which happened to me, caused a sequence of events to take place that I believe deserves this complaint.

The account goes into a negative state of about -$5.00. Robinhood identifies this a "Margin Call", even if you never have opted into "Margin" usage (which is an option on Robinhood Gold Accounts). Anytime Robinhood recognizes a Margin Call, they will, without warning at any time, sell off your securities to cover the balance of the account. This even includes selling option contracts at a loss on your behalf. The user agreement states that they may choose to contact you prior to selling your securities, but they do not.

Robinhood customer care is garbage. Caleb, you are a condescending little twit. If you hate customer's so much, find another job. Using another brokerage with better charts, so I suppose I should thank you. Your customer care forced my hand into a little research and directed me towards a better platform.

At Robinhood, we take the security of your account and claims of unauthorized activity very seriously. On September 30, 2019, you informed us of the possibility that your account was hacked. The claims of unauthorized activity included the unauthorized trades of your CHK, ACB, CGC, RKUNY, HEXO, DIS, CRM, and ZNGA shares as well as the nine unauthorized deposits into your Robinhood account, one of which was reversed and the other eight were cancelled.
After taking the necessary measures to secure your account, we informed you that an investigation would be conducted on your account. On October 8, 2019, our team determined that your account was not compromised and that no unauthorized activity took place.
