Had the opportunity to speak with the customer and discuss her concerns. Came to a mutual agreement with the customer that we would be crediting her $back for the part of the service that was initially providedThe customer was happy with this and we now consider this matter closed

We spoke with Mr*** and came up with an agreed upon settlement

Roto Rooter insists the remaining charge is valid and that the insurance should have covered it, but the insurance company only denied the charges after Roto Rooter did not reply to the message asking them to contact the insurance company because they had questions about the chargesI have contacted Roto Rooter several times, asking that they contact the insurance companyEach time they say they will, and then they will contact me afterwardsEach time the only reply I get is another collection noticeIf these charges are valid, why do they refuse to contact the insurance company and provide them the backup they need to pay the remaining balance? Before the work was done they assured me I did not have to worry, that they knew how to deal with insurance companies, they know what was allowable and what was not, and that if there were any questions they would take care of itI did not realize their idea of taking care of it was to send a bill to the insurance company, refuse to answer any questions the insurance company had about the bill, and send me to collections instead of providing the information that would allow the insurance company to pay the balance

Per Roto Rooter and industry standards, at any time there is root infiltration in a line, that warrants the need for a permanent solutionRoot infiltration is a common and obvious compromise to the lineWith a permanent solution the need to have the line serviced on a regular basis is
diminished. As the customer admitted this has been a recurring issue as the line had to be serviced years ago We offered a solution which the customer acceptedIn addition the customer signed a document to not only proceed with the work but also another showing satisfaction with the service that had been rendered. We do not practice any fraudulent sales or service practicesAgain, the line was compromised, we offered a solution and the customer accepted the solution

Please see the attached itemized response.Thank you for you time and attention.R - Roto-Rooter Services CompanyNaiman Parkway TOTOTT ER ***, OH 44139-1007syfriffSceau: 1-800-GET-ROTO (438-7686)PH: (440) 287-JRAN SERVCE Fax: (440) 542-0570I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaintFor your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.MrTrebec is a master of the red herring. No response necessary,It's irrelevant whether my wife was standing outside and listening to *** or notI didn't agree to the terms on the document my wife signed and she wouldn't have either had she understood whatwas being proposedShe obviously assumed that the document contained what I and *** agreed to doIt did not.Mrs*** heard the terms, they obviously matched the document she then signed or I would have to believe she would have refused to signPayment was also rendered at the conclusion of the workThis would also indicate that the contracted work was complete. This whole "exploratory work excavation" claim is ridiculous*** pinpointed the site of the break in five minutes with a camera and a locating deviceHe ran the camera from the other side of the sewer system starting from the downspout at the back of the houseI hope this exploratory excavation story isn't a typical way Roto-Rooter snows potential customers.Mr*** was also present at the initial diagnosis and is adamant that Mr*** was advised that the entire length of the drain line be replacedMr*** declined and only accepted the contracted length of drain lineExploratory excavation is clearly stated alone at the top of the work description on the Roto-Rooter proposal dated 11/21/It was not hidden, or slipped in on the customers. At any rate, I never discussed exploratory work of any kind regarding the break at the front of the house.Mr*** and Mr*** completely disagreeThe lines that were replaced were infiltrated with roots and had to be replacedThe written proposal clearly indicates Exploratory Excavation centered on the top line with no other verbiage on that lineIt stands out alone. My sewer system is very old and I was hoping that there wasn't more damage to it along the side of my house and I discussed with *** that I would forgo any work on the side of the house and hope the sewer there was OK, and that the problem would go away after they fixed the blockage atthe front of the house.Strange that they didn't do the obvious and run a camera from the other side as *** did many months laterThe less information one has, the murkier a problem appears and the more opportunities to confuse a neophyteIf they had discovered a break in the sewer along the side of the house but not too far from the front, I might have asked them to fix it in addition to the blockage in the frontIt turned out that the line is fine along the side of the house, which was demonstrated by ***Up to that point I didn't know where the leak was in the lineHe did however discover that Roto-Rooter had never even tried to fix the problem in the frontMaybe they knew that all along and that's why it took so long for them to finally come out againI would recount the outrageous statement *** made once the break was discovered to try to deflect Roto-Rooter's responsibility, but there is no proof.I will not address the accusations and Mr***' attempt to know the thoughts of our highly experienced representativesRoto-Rooter has been in business for years and that longevity speaks to our reputation and the level of service we provideBoth Mr*** and Mr*** are Confident in their actions and stand behind their practicesI will Call to attention that if a drain line is clogged and water is standing in it, a Camera inspection would only show dark murky waterIt cannot see through dirty waterThe initial call from the *** home states that the line was backed up.Another red herring is the basis for the partial refunds MrTrebec is proposingThe amounts he is proposing assume that Roto -Rooter is on site and has the trenches dug up to that pointI am discussing going back in and fixing and unfinished job*** gave me an estimate of $just to go in and fix the breakMr*** did what *** proposed plus they dug down all the way to the sanitary sewer and replaced the old line up to where Roto-Rooter was supposed to have put pipe in plus they finished Roto-Rooter's job and had to lay feet of sanitary pipe and feet of storm pipe that Roto-Rooter was supposed to have done based on the document my wife signedThey did all that for $Based on ***'s $proposal, I think Roto-Rooter should recognize a bargain and pay the $3700.For clarity, Mr*** previously stated that Mr*** proposed $3,000.For clarity, I will rescind my previous offers and explanation for those offers.Roto-Rooter suggested on three different occasions that the remainder of the drain lines be replacedOn all three occasions Mr*** declinedThe work eventually had to be doneMr*** chose to try to do it himself then to hire another vendor to complete the workIn addition, that work was completed at a higher price than Roto-Rooter had proposed.Roto-Rooter did not hire Mr***, therefore we do not feel responsible to pay their invoiceWewere responsible only for the work described in the document signed by Mrs***That work was completed.I will still accept Mr***' claim that it was feet short on the sanitary line and feet short on the storm pipe, despite this being done by common plumbing practice as described in my previous response.I am no longer under the impression that there is a spirit of good faith or good will in the attempt to resolve this matterHowever, in spite of, that I will extend an offer of $2,in a final attempt toresolve this matter in mannerThis is above and beyond fair and reasonableAgain, Roto-Rooter offered to perform the repair at a lesser Cost and did not hire Mr***,Regards,*** ***Sincerely,Ron I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Roto Rooter has several pieces of misinformation in their response. I have not received a call from any member of their staff since December at which time I attempted to call the number multiple times and each time I was told there was no Brad that worked there and transferred to the voicemail of a gentleman named John. I attempted to also text the number that "Brad" called from with no replyThere have been no voicemail messages, no emails and no attempts to reach out to me despite what they are claiming over the last several daysI do have a full time occupation and a voicemail message should be left if they are unable to reach me. The contract did say a "mounded condition" however, I have pictures and screenshots that show that was indeed not the condition that the property was left and the large rocks and other items were not removed. I would very much appreciate some form of communication with someone other than a branch manager who, from the day of the damage when he was "too hungover to deal with this *&^%" as he told his staff member that was at my residence attempting to assist in getting the damages and broken water line repaired. An offer to throw down grass seed in no way corrects the actions or repairs damages.

On 11/25/Roto-Rooter fixed a leaking copper line under her stairwell for free since she was using us to do her water restoration and clean upThis was filed through her *** for approximately $4000, with $of that coming out of *** *** pocket for her deductibleShe signed
off on the job and was satisfied with the results. Then about months later, on 5/27/17, she called us again because she noticed her hallway rug was damp around the area her original leak started from her bad plumbing. The next morning we went out and repaired the leak again for freeWe then offered to get our on call Restoration Supervisor Mark S. out to set up drying equipment again at no chargeShe refused because she did not care for him and wanted the manager Adam Z. to bring it out. Adam explained that he was away on vacation until the 30th because of a Memorial Weekend vacationShe said that's fine, and he got out there the next day to spray the carpets with disinfectant, and placed an air scrubber in there for days to remove the musty smellHe recommended fans and dehumidifiers to completely dry everything but she didn't want to pay for the electricity and deal with the noisy fans for daysShe still had not replaced the carpet padding or other flooring from her first claim from months agoNow she wants all or part of the total amount of the original $bill, when we offered her immediate solutions to her problems

After speaking with customer we've decided to honor 10% discountAlso sending letter with warrantyCust agreed to work to be done at the proposed costNothing more to be done at this time

The insured called us after they were involved in an accident and wanted to cancel their insuranceThey asked that we stop the payroll deduction payment for the policy immediately. We advised them that we needed a Plate Return Receipt before the company could process the cancellation
and stop the payroll deductions (Payments for the insurance). On 2/28/we received the Plate Return Receipt that is required to cancel Massachusetts auto insurance. We also advised them that since we received the plate return receipt at the end of the month and that they are on payroll deduction payments, that the March deductions could not be stopped but once the policy was cancelled they would receive their refund. The company is processing the cancellation effective 2/21/17, the date after the coverage was no longer needed for the rental car . Unfortunately, due to the payroll deduction process they will have deductions through March, however any monies due to them from the cancellation that they have paid will be returned to them. We have reached out to the client via email and mail explaining the process and assuring them that they will get a refund of any money due back to them once the cancellation is processed
When insurance policies are paid through an employer payroll deduction program, the employer is billed monthly and the employee has the payment deducted from each paycheck. The insurance company bills the employer at the beginning of the month for that month and the deductions start. Changes to the deductions can only be made monthly so sometimes it takes a month for changes or in this case a cancellation to catch up with an insurance policy change
Thank you
