#1The reason that you did not speak with me right away is because I was out of town. Being the owner, I do not just sit at a desk all day I also participate int he moving aspect of my business. I drive long haul as needed. When your initial calls were made, I was hauling for work. I was gone cross country for almost weeks. So yes, for one aspect of this scenario you are right you did speak to *** a few times before speaking to me When I returned, I did speak with you. That is the reason why.#2The insurance was definitely explained to you ahead of time. All of our staff is trained to do the paperwork this way. They do it to not only cover our customers goods but to cover us as the insurer. I know they did and have 100% faith in my crew. Especially the crew that moved you.#3Filing a police report is more than a he said she said and denial of the claim. It puts the situation on record as the accuser as well as the accused. It is an investigation to get to the bottom of things. Even if the movers denied it things would not stop there. The police do their job and attempt to solve the complaint. If I were "robbed" of my personal items you best believe I would be filling out a police report.#4My crew admits if things go wrong. I do have complete faith in my crew. They are not thieves. We background check all employees before hiring. They are not just anyone off the street. They all have personal ties to us and our crew. I will continue to support them and do not believe they took your items #5Out of all the boxes/furniture moved it is still very odd that a bag in a box in a box is missing #6The dollar amount is still odd and if the "missing" items were to such value to you, you should know the amount to ask for. #7We do not have to offer anything based off of the insurance option you chose and the faith we have in our crew. However, to attempt to get this complaint closed we are willing to split the amount you claimed and offer a reimbursement of $448.00. This is the only amount we will be offering Thank you,*** ***

I didn't need the funds to complete the move the day of as I was told I'd have days to pay, and would have them at that timeI told the moving company I'd have availability on 12/I didn't plan nor did I have the availability to accommodate a second move dayOnly of my machines were delivered on the 23rd of December, and the company held two full trucks as collateral, which was in excess of times the value of the monies owedWhen they were delivered, I provided a certified check that they refused to accept, and they tried to have me arrested for theft of service all while they had a bank certified funds checkThey've been nothing but abhorrent to deal with, have gone back on many things they said, refused to provide a contract, refused to provide a list of goods in writing, still haven't delivered all my goods, and forced me to sign saying they had delivered them all under penalty of getting arrested if I didn't, all while my attorney told me not to sign anything and what I did sign was a BLANK bill of laden with only a dollar amount on it, an amount that exceeded what was first agreed upon

RESPONSE FROM MOVERS in black: The only truth to this complaint is the client did hire us to move a refrigerator As a matter of fact we were also set up for a second move after her floors were redone When called to confirm the appointment she had mentioned she was looking for her door stopper We informed her we did not have it and would be happy to get one for her She then went on a rant bad mouthing not only us but the company who is providing her floor service First and foremost when I was called about the confirmation of the second mover I told the girl in the office the door stopped was missing and the movers did not put it back together because they said they were coming back in days I told her at the time I did not even open that door yet. We informed her would look into her complaint and get back to her We asked each of the movers on the crew individually about the moveI was told by the man that came to my house to see the damage that one of the movers was the owner son and he meaning the son "had to much job security as this was not his first complaint" He also informed me that the owner son in law owns a construction company that fixes the damage that Sheridan movers causes. They informed us that the door was badly worn and damaged to begin withWhen the movers came in they told me they needed to inspect the refrigerator any damage and we did look and I agreed that there were a few dings on the freezer doorSince this is the procedure to inspect property wouldn't they have pointed out the damage on the door if it was there as the movers stated It was already missing the weatherstrippingI have photos of thedoor with the weatherstripping intact and also it on the ground during the moveI began taking picture when the movers refused to remove both doors as per my request The fridge never touched the door frameI have a picture of the movers though this episode They knew even before getting it to the doorway it was not going to fit and went a different way No I have pictures of them going out the door removing the door and inspecting the damage At the time I didn't know they were inspecting the damage I thought they were trying to figure out how to but the door back togetherWe know how inexpensive weatherstripping is so we did offer to provide the strip for her When our repair person went out the client was extremely rude and combative. He showed up in dress clothes with a can of puddy and a roll of weather stripping and said he would repair the door I said no, that I would call someone a professional and get estimates this is when he again told me of the son in law that had a construction company. We informed her we did not have to do what we were doing since the damage is preexisitng Again why was this noted by the movers, again I have pictures of the fresh damage The stationary door was also not but on right This is not lined up right When he guy from the movers argued it was suppose to be like that, I had him walk over to my sisters with me and my witness, and he saw her door that is just like mine and apologized he was wrong, and admitted that they did put the door on wrong. We were just trying to help her out He was not going to stand there and be treated so horribly so he told her to have a good day and left the home.We shook hand and he said the owner would call me I have a witness that was at my home when he was there.WHEN I NEVER HEARD FROM THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY THAT IS WHEN I CONTACTED Revdex.com There is construction going on in the home so any damages could of been made by multiple people and she just decided to attempt to pin it on usAgain it was Rochester Hardwood flooring not multiple companiesThey will attest to the fact they never used that door They did not replace the floor in that room I have a good rapport with them, As a matter of fact they are doing more work for me starting Dec When I did show Kelly the owner the door ( of Rochester Hardwoods) the damage
Sheridan Movers did He said he was they said they would no longer recommend Sheridan movers! As you can see by the attached pics the house was not under construction, as the area rug was still down on my floors room and the TV and stand and play table were still in the room We are not liable for this and do not feel it is our responsibility

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There was no offer of any kind. Here is my response to their response:
*** informed him he is salesman and does not handle claims. Interesting as I spoke with him times over the first two weeks before speaking with the owner. Never once did he mention he did not handle claims. He actually told me that he took my claim serious and would handle it
The insurance for Mr *** is cents per pound per article. Once again, why were my insurance options explained to me after the move, rather than prior to the move?
Mr *** was also informed to fill out a police report. What exactly is this going to accomplish? They are going to interview your men, and they will deny it, and then we will be right back to square one.
We did speak with our crew who performed the moving service and who have also been with is for close to years now, no one opened any box on the move. years proves nothing. Again, they say they did not take it, but that is just words. Do you honestly think they would admit it?
A bag inside of a box inside of another box ended up missing. Wouldn't this more than likely go unnoticed at first, thus being more of a choice to take. Regardless of how it was packed, it was missing
Is only asking for the reimbursement of the moving charges of $896.00. I was never under the impression you would reimburse me for the cost of the jewelry, so I had to pick something. Just to prove this about principle and not money, I would like to point out that I tipped each member of the crew $80. Additionally, this claim has taken up more time than I wanted to dedicate to it, thus making the $worth even less to me now since you can't account for my lost time
We are happy to come up with a solution to this. Interesting since you have yet to make any offer of any kind to resolve this issue.
This situation is not resolved and I am not closing out this complaint. If the company is serious about resolving this issue, I am patiently waiting an offer from them as to what they feel is appropriate. Until then, my complaint will remain open

I apologize for our delayed response but I wanted to get together with the crew on this move to see what happened regarding the grill Per the driver and his crew member they have stated the following:
/>
"The grill was frozen to the ground They told the client that they did not want to take it He said he was going to have to wait and rent a truck and move it on is own They felt bad for the customer After a few failed attempts they realized it was impossible to get the grill out Along with the customer, they proceeded to place hot water on the grill, loosening it from the frozen ground There are a few screws that are causing most of the damage at the base of the grill It is not or will not cause an issue with the hose when using It does not effect the using of the grill."
Mrs*** called our office to inform us of the damage to the grill After reviewing the paperwork, it came to our attention that the client signed off on cents per pound per article, which is basic insurance They did sign off on arrival as well as again once the move was complete While on the phone with Mrs ***, we looked up the grill online to get a weight for it The grill weighed in at pounds At cents per pound the amount they would receive is $
In regards to the complaint of our website being incorrect it is not It states:
The NYSDOT has regulated the moving industryWhat you are given is cents per pound per article for local moves and cents per pound per article for long distance movesYou do have the option of purchasing additional insurance. For local moves it costs $and covers up to $in valuationIt is $for every thousand after thatFor long distance moves it is $and covers up to $in valuation and is also $for every thousand after that This is exactly what was explained the the client
In regards to the amount of the bill, the total was $ The moving portion was only $ The client did purchase boxes to pack themselves at a cost of $ There is no reason the amount reimbursed should be almost 50% of what their move was
We are happy to come to an agreement but will not be settling for anything close to $

Revdex.com spoke with *** today and she stated that in the interest of customer service and customer satisfaction, Sheridan Brothers Moving, Incis willing to offer $125.00, although they are not obligated to do so and the insurance would have only covered $

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The business' statement of making 4 separate re-evaluation trips is a bit of a stretch.  Mr. Sheridan, the owner, made one additional trip for the purpose of re-pricing the move due to fewer items to be handled by the business.  This is reflected in the two attached contract pricings which reflect a minimum to maximum $ range.  We paid the maximum $ range of $2,968 and refused to pay the overbilling of $384.

We were and are not aware of the "horrible way we treated staff."  We would, however, be receptive to factual details of this accusation.

Empty clothing boxes of the mover were not picked up until we were able to finally get an employee of the mover to inspect our flooring damage .............. in June of this year.  This was the first time we were able to meet with a company representative to access the damages. Mr. Sheridan never met with us.

A proper resolvement of this issue would be for the business to accept responsibilty for their movers' damage to the hardwood flooring and either A - Make arrangements for proper repair of gouges and scratches to the flooring or
B - Provide financial settlement for such repairs based upon an average of 3 independent appraisals

My family used this company for a local move within Greece NY. They arrived on time, a crew of three, and started to work right away. They checked out the house we were moving out from and asked for how the new one was laid out. They filled the truck in a very organized way while not wasting a bit of space. Our belongings were handled with great care and they watched not to bang on doors or walls while moving everything.

Very polite and told us when they needed a 5 minute break (it was quite hot that day) and came right back to work. Did not wasted any time and were only limited by our ability to have more things ready for them to move out.

They placed everything on the corresponding rooms in the spot we wanted in the new house while taking care of brand new flooring. They laid out moving blankets all over the place and gave us time to add felt to the bottom of every piece of furniture. They made sure we were not stressed, and constantly asked for feedback about their progress and if we were seeing anything wrong.

Price was very reasonable for the amount of work they did and the estimate was right on the money. I will use this guys again in heartbeat and will recommend to anyone moving.

We are glad we used these guys and did not attempted to do it ourselves or get our friends to help.

We are in receipt of the complaint against Sheridan Brothers Moving.  I have attached all information to show why we are not at fault.  I will list the reasons to be clear.1.)  Photos #1 and #2 will show the bed bugs on the mattress.  We are not allowed to nor would ever...

transport items with bed bugs.  It is not compliant with the Department of Transportation along with Monroe County Health Department.  The client was made aware of this.2.)  There was garbage throughout the home.  It was unsanitary.  You will see that throughout additional photos.3.)  The boxes were not packed properly.  There were breakables not packed properly.  There were open boxes.  There were things hanging out of the boxes.  We by law cannot transport items like this.4.)  As for the accusation of theft, they are completely out of line.  The gentleman that provided the service have been with our company for many years.  They are stand up guys and would never steal from anyone.  I would suggest looking through the piles of items that are in the home a little better.5.)  I have attached a copy of the order for service, bill of lading and our waiver.  You will see at the bottom of the bill of lading, [redacted] did sign off on the delivery acknowledgment.  It does state" Shipment was received in good condition except herein noted and services ordered were performed."We are are available for any additional questions.  I greatly appreciate your help!

Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  The reason I contacted the Revdex.com is because I contacted the company twice with no return phone calls and then sent them a registered letter, the reason they are contacting me now is because I contacted the Revdex.com. They were sent videos of damage via email on 3/18/16.

I used Sheridan Brothers Moving 2 years ago and was very pleased. However, I used them again to move this weekend, and several of my items were damaged in the move. I was very disappointed. I will not be using them again.

I recently had an excellent experience with this company--from start to finish-- for a move from Rochester to New England.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
I would also like to point out that I found there last response extremely condescending.  As the victim, we get to decide how we go about filing/handling our complaint.  At some point I figured the Business would take the high road and admit wrong doing, but I guess that is not the case.  At the end of the day, they can never prove what their employees did while they were out of sight.  Additionally, regardless of what they say, my insurance options were not explained to me until the end.
At this point I cannot devote any more time to this fiasco, and hence will accept their reimbursement.  Please have them send the check to my address and then I will close out the complaint.

I used Sheridan Brothers about a year ago and I cannot say enough nice things. They were timely, professional, helpful and worked fast. They were wonderful. In fact I will be moving again soon and will definitely use them again!

The claimant did not have the funds to pay for the service.  He also did not have the funds to pay the current landlord (check bounced).  He was unable to get into the delivery space.  We tried multiple times to get the items delivered.  The space was not available to deliver...

into per the new landlord.  There was ne response from the claimant for 1 week.  He finally got in touch with us, the landlord approved delivery, all items were delivered in full on 1/14/16.

Revdex.com:RESPONSE FROM MOVERS in black: The only truth to this complaint is the client did hire us to move a refrigerator.  As a matter of fact we were also set up for a second move after her floors were redone.  When called to confirm the appointment she had mentioned she was looking for her door stopper.  We informed her we did not have it and would be happy to get one for her.  She then went on a rant bad mouthing not only us but the company who is providing her floor service.  First and foremost when I was called about the confirmation of the second mover I told the girl in the office the door stopped was missing and the movers did not put it back together because they said they were coming back in 10 days.  I told her at the time I did not even open that door yet.  We informed her would look into her complaint and get back to her.  We asked each of the movers on the crew individually about the move. I was told by the man that came to my house to see the damage that one of the movers was the owner son and he meaning the son "had to much job security as this was not his first complaint" He also informed me that the owner son in law owns a construction company that fixes the damage that Sheridan movers causes. They informed us that the door was badly worn and damaged to begin with. When the movers came in they told me they needed to inspect the refrigerator any damage and we did look and I agreed that there were a few dings on the freezer door. Since this is the procedure to inspect property wouldn't they have pointed out the damage on the door if it was there as the movers stated.    It was already missing the weatherstripping. I have photos of thedoor with the weatherstripping intact and also it on the ground during the move. I began taking picture when the movers refused to remove both doors as per my request.  The fridge never touched the door frame. I have a picture of the movers though this episode   They knew even before getting it to the doorway it was not going to fit and went a different way.  No I have pictures of them going out the door removing the door and inspecting the damage.  At the time I didn't know they were inspecting the damage I thought they were trying to figure out how to but the door back together. We know how inexpensive weatherstripping is so we did offer to provide the strip for her.  When our repair person went out the client was extremely rude and combative.  He showed up in dress clothes with a can of puddy and a roll of weather stripping and said he would repair the door.  I said no, that I would call someone a professional and get estimates.  this is when he again told me of the son in law that had a construction company.  We informed her we did not have to do what we were doing since the damage is preexisitng.  Again why was this noted by the movers, again I have pictures of the fresh damage.  The stationary door was also not but on right.  This is not lined up right.  When he guy from the movers argued it was suppose to be like that,  I had him walk over  to my  sisters with me and my witness, and he saw her door that is just like mine and apologized he was wrong, and admitted that they did put the door on wrong. We were just trying to help her out.  He was not going to stand there and be treated so horribly so he told her to have a good day and left the home.We shook hand and he said the owner would call me.  I have a witness that was at my home when he was there.WHEN I NEVER HEARD FROM THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY THAT IS WHEN I CONTACTED Revdex.com.  There is construction going on in the home so any damages could of been made by multiple people and she just decided to attempt to pin it on us. Again it was Rochester Hardwood flooring not multiple companies. They will attest to the fact they never used that door.  They did not replace the floor in that room.  I have a good rapport with them,  As a matter of fact they are doing more work for me starting Dec 9.  When I did show Kelly the owner the door ( of Rochester Hardwoods)  the damage Sheridan Movers did.  He said he was they said they would no longer recommend Sheridan movers!  As you can see by the attached pics the house was not under construction, as the area  rug was  still down on my floors  room and the TV and stand and play table were still in the room.  We are not liable for this and do not feel it is our responsibility.

Revdex.com:
Immediately AFTER I filed the complaint with the Revdex.com I received my FIRST response from Sheridan Brothers.  They did, after SIX weeks, finally fix the handle, so the issue is now resolved.  However, they are completely lying about keeping me updated throughout this process.  If there is a way to attach these facts to their file for future clients to read before hiring them, I think this information regarding their business practices should be made readily available.  Throughout this entire process, I was never contacted by the owner, and never received an apology of any kind.
