Solar Safe Pool Covers Reviews (42)

I had my tan solar pool cover installed in May 2016. I have a diving pool and its 35K gallons built in 1969. I have saved on water because of not having evaporation and on chemicals I use to use 6 - 3 inch chlorine tabs a week in the summer and now with the solar cover I have only put in 1- 3 inch tab a week with the cover on during the summer great saving. I also only run the pump for 2 hours a day more savings. They cut and sew the material on site. The cover turned out great and it does not take too much time to take on and off but its easier with two people because of how wide my pool is in one area it gets a lot of water on top of the cover and has to be pumped back into the pool with the included pump.

Right from the initial phone call to setup salesman to visit my residence this is a classy organization. The sales person very knowledgeable of product and very congenial. The two man crew who came and custom made the pool cover were very well mannered and respectful of our home and pool. Fast and efficient was the standard.

The pool cover is great and performs as advertised. The solar cover has established our pool to 90+ degrees. My dogs have walked across the installed cover and all of my grandchildren too. I am very happy with the cover and would recommend it to anyone who wants a warmer cleaner pool.

We had the pool cover installed in August 2016. They came out did everything onsite including the sewing of the cover and was completed in less than 8 hours. It looks beautiful, they did a wonderful job and when we left on a cruise for 17 days, came home ill for another 10 days, finally lifted the cover to see how things were. The chemicals were still stable and the pool looked extremely clean and the water was 91 degrees and at the end of Sept. We have grandchildren who are often here and with the cover feel much safer than with a fence. I would recommend this cover for anyone with children and it has to be unscrewed for anyone to fall in. Saves on chemicals, cleaning, pool service, can use longer in the fall and is no more costly than a pool fence. We love it. This company is very efficient.

We had a solar safe pool cover installed 9 months ago and are very pleased with it. We know our daughter won't fall into the pool when it is covered The cover has kept all the dirt from the surrounding construction from ending up in our pool. Winter months we can keep it covered which reduces our need for filtration. This reduces our electric bill. The staff is top notch the product is a must have for this area.

Solar Safe Pool Covers created a custom cover for our pool that is exceptionally strong, safe, and reliable. I do not worry about my kids playing in the backyard because the safety features of the pool are more reliable than a pool fence. The installation was smooth and professional and completed in a timely manner. The only thing I advise, is that you are prepared to have dirt collect on top of the cover, which we spray off while the cover is on and then drain it with the pump that comes with the cover, and understand that the cover is heavy and you need two people to pull it back and put it back on. It takes my husband and I about 5-10 minutes to pull back the cover and place back on. The cover keeps the pool very clean and very very warm in the summer. If you want your pool to stay cold, I do not recommend this cover.

We had searched many websites looking for a pool cover & had even purchased one, from a company. As time went by, the sun disintegrated the cover & it looked terrible. We came across Solar Safe Pool Covers and called them. Jeff, the Lead Estimator, came out & showed us pictures & explained the benefits of the cover. We have 4 small dogs & our fear was that they may fall in & drown. The cover has protected our dogs, as well as kept out debris from our neighbors palo verde trees when they bloom. Now we back wash less and we've also saved on chemicals. The cost of the cover was more than what we wanted to pay, but it seems in the long run to have been a good investment. At this point we have been very satisfied. It has been almost 1 year since it was installed. Our friend heard we had purchased one & she called the company & is a happy customer also. The installation involved cutting and sewing to fit our uniquely shaped swimming pool. The brass fittings that are installed into the pool deck hold the cover firmly in place even in the windiest conditions. To remove the cover is a simple matter - using a cordless drill and attachment that is included.

We purchased a solar safe pool cover in May of 2016. The installation was done as promised and was very quick and professional. Although we had a "demo" during the installation, we have a large pool, and taking the cover off and on the first time was a little frustrating. We called the company to schedule a second "demo" and they first sent us a very helpful video. Once we watched that again, we've had no issues and two of us can take the cover on and off easily. As I said, we have a large pool, so it does take two people. The cover helps the pool warm up much more quickly in the spring. We left it off most of the summer, purchasing a large storage box to keep it in. Overall, we are very happy with the product and would highly recommend it. It is quite attractive as well. We selected the blue color so it still looks like there's water out there. The company was available to help with questions after the sale, which is some times the most important thing.

The Solar Safe Pool Cover has saved us lots of labor and energy regarding the cleaning of our pool. Our neighbor has a huge tree and we were constantly cleaning our pool whenever it's windy or during dust storm. It has also saved us $$ on chemicals during hibernating our pool.

Solar Safe Pool Covers installed a cover on my kidney shaped diving pool and I am very happy with the results. It is wider on the deep end than it is on the shallow end, and there is a elevated spa half way down one side, which makes it not an easy cut and fit. The two gentlemen that installed it did an excellent job and I couldn't be happier with the results. Solar Safe was reasonable with their pricing so I felt comfortable with the cost. I would recommend Solar Safe Pool Covers to anyone interested in getting a cover for their pool. I don't have to run my filter as long. I don't have to clean leaves from the surface or bottom hardly at all. And I save on chlorine and chemicals.

We were looking to make our pool safe for visiting grandchildren and a friend suggested a pool cover as fencing would have been difficult for our yard layout.

We read about different kinds of pool covers and finally had Solar Safe come out. They answered a lot of questions on the phone and we decided to get an on site estimate but we knew we were not prepared to make a decision. They were very thorough and specific with how it would work and how much it would cost including financing options. They described how it would need to be cleaned and maintained with no pressure to purchase immediately.

Once we decided and called them back they set us up for installation quickly and at our convenience. The workers were efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and encouraged us to video tape the demonstration of cover removal.

We have been very happy with our first season and are very happy with the product as well as our experience with the company.

An outstanding product, very satisfied. From the initial contact with customer service, the meeting with sales consultant, and the crew that did the actual work, every one has an excellent attitude and work ethic. I am very impressed with the entire company and the employees and would recommend their product to anyone who wants to "hibernate" their pool. I have had the cover for just about a month now, and I still have a smile on my face when I think about how much money and time this product will save me. Thank You - Solar Safe Pool Covers, sincerely- [redacted]

We were looking for a way to protect anyone who might come into our yard and potential fall into our pool. We were not able to install a fence around the pool just because of the way it was designed for a small yard. Well Solar Safe Pool Covers came to our home and presented a way to keep people and dirt out plus save us money during the winter. They came out about a week later and installed the pool cover in one day. They create the pool cover on site and can make adjustment to the design on the spot. They are just an excellent company to work with. The pool cover gives us peace of mind.

Our experience with Solar Safe Pool Covers has been a very positive experience. They came to the house took measurements for the pool cover and then gave us an estimate. They explained everything to our satisfaction. They said we would save money on chemicals as well as electricity. So we purchased a cover. And all that they said has been true.

We got the cover mainly to protect our pool from our neighbor's trees which we making a mess of our pool and we were constantly cleaning the baskets and skimming the pool. The pool cover has made a big difference in the care of the pool.

The installers worked efficiently and quickly. And they showed us how to remove and replace the cover.

We have no problem in recommending them to friends and family which we have done.

I purchased a Solar Safe pool cover in early 2016 after having my puppy fall into the pool. My salesperson was friendly, professional, punctual, and he didn't pressure me. The energy savings afforded by the Solar Safe cover coupled with providing safety for my small dogs made my purchase decision an easy one. The cover was fabricated and installed in one day. Afterwards, my dogs could play safely in the backyard. I am satisfied with my purchase and recommend this company.

We are very pleased with our pool cover from Solar Safe Pool Covers. We met with the sales representatives who answered many questions, took measurements, and set up an installation date in late January. The installers arrived on time on the date scheduled and immediately started the process. They were able to sew the cover exactly to size, and we had several angles and elevations around the pool. Even though an "owner's manual" was provided, the installer was very thorough about explaining the safety features, do's & don't's and maintenance about the cover. While we have not yet removed the cover for the season to find out how the removal process works, I have been pleased that we were able to go out of town without worrying about critters and debris falling into the pool while we were gone. The water level has stayed constant, and we have not had to treat the pool with chemicals at this point. We called the company and ordered the small pump to remove rainwater that collected during the few times it rained; the company responded quickly and the pump worked perfectly. We plan to remove the cover soon, and will treat it with the vinyl protection prior to removing the cover. Overall, this has been a very good investment in time skimming, in water conservation, and added chemicals.

Review: We purchased the pool cover in 2008 with a 7 year warranty. A new company purchased them and would only honor a 5 year warranty until we produced the original contract stating 7 years. Right after the 3rd year the cover had to be replaced due to holes in the fabric. We were very happy with the original cover and expected the warranty to cover the replacement. They would only warranty the prorated months left on the warranty so we excepted it and paid for the new cover. The new cover faded quickly and one of the slots that hold the cover on broke out within months of the new cover being installed. We have followed everything we needed to do to maintain the integrity of the cover, but the material was defective. We have faithfully cleaned and conditioned the cover every 6 months as directed. We have called numerous times to get them out to look at the cover and took pictures to email them, but they have not done anything to resolve the problem.Desired Settlement: Replacement of the defective pool cover we paid for a 2nd time and a fix for the screw that came out of the cool deck.

Response:

We have contacted the pool owner and sent a technician to inspect the pool cover on Wednesday 6/19/2013. We will be reviewing the information he gathered, contacting the pool owner early next week. We will notify the Revdex.com of the outcome at that time.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. They came out and looked at the pool cover along with taking samples. I have not heard back from them on how they will resolve the problems.

Today I sent the following email to [redacted] and [redacted], the 2 email addresses I have for the pool cover owners. When we first discussed their concerns in August and September 2011, email was the requested form of communication.I understand that you feel this cover is not performing as well as the cover which was replaced in November 2011 under the prorated warranty. Since neither you nor we have access to that cover, and we have no records of water/chemical readings over that time span, we really have no way to compare that cover to the existing cover. We inspected your pool cover on Wednesday, 6/19. We found that it is operating effectively, keeping dirt and debris out of the pool water, and providing a safety barrier over the pool. We did not find any reason that it needs to be replaced. There is no evidence that the cover fabric has failed to perform as covered in the warranty. There is some color fading apparent, primarily where the cover is in contact with the pool water. The warranty does not guarantee that there will be no change in appearance over the life of the cover; in fact, the warranty specifically excludes, in [redacted], “Normal fading, pinholes and minor deterioration of exterior surfaces...”I realized in reviewing your Revdex.com complaint that you mentioned that either one grommet in the cover or a part of one brass anchor has failed. We didn’t look at that on 6/19, so if you will call me to schedule a service call, we will repair the grommet or anchor at no charge. [redacted]Solar Safe Pool Covers###-###-####

We engaged this company to install a cover on our irregular "spool" and they did it professionally, with care and attention to detail. Everything was done to our satisfaction, including clean-up.

Review: Product was purchased at Oct. 2014 [redacted] at a considerable cost of $3337. Product has not performed as described by sales personal for Solar Safe Pool Covers. Pool cover was suppose to "hibernate" the pool for up to eight years. Buyer was suppose to balance the pool water, cover and when uncovering the pool owner may have to run the filtering system for a few hours before swimming. Our pool, when check on Sept. 22, 2015, was a green smelly mess. It will take far more than a few hours of filtration. Solar Safe, via telephone Sept. 22, 2015 attributed the problem to hardness, cyanic, alkalinity, ph, copper, iron, TDS. We had worked on getting these items in line prior to hibernation. So, went to a commercial pool supply Sept. 22, 2015 and had water tested, all of the above were in acceptable range. We purchased this product to "hibernate" the pool. As per the sales force, we wouldn't have to add chemicals, water or run the filtration system. The product is not as we were told in person by the Sales People for Solar Safe at the [redacted].Desired Settlement: Refund as product is not what was explained to us in a face to face sale.

Also, we would like to know that Solar Safe will modify their sales pitch to Senior Citizens at the [redacted].

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

As soon as we became aware of this customers concern with

their pool water quality we have been talking to and emailing them.

We are the only ones that offer a unique approach to

hibernating a swimming pool for a short or long term periods. In order to successfully hibernate the pool

the customers pool chemicals have to be in proper balance which their pool

should be anyway.

We tell the customer verbally during the sales presentation

that the chemicals have to be balanced. It

is also discussed on our website. After the installation we have the customer

sign a Completion Statement that says that they will read the owner's manual

where there are two pages that discuss the need to balance pool chemicals and

the importance of proper balancing to hibernate the pool.

We do a chemical test of their pool water on the day of the

installation and either email or mail them the results of their water quality

tests. The only thing we could do more

than we do now is to become a pool service company and provide them with the

solution to balance their chemicals.

Becoming a pool service company is not in our interest and there are

plenty of resources such as Leslie's pool stores (which the customer uses) or

pool service companies which the customer has used that offer services to

balance pool chemicals.

The customer readily admits in the complaint that he was

aware that the pool water was supposed to be in balance. After the customer

received the owner's manual and water chemistry letter they had their water

tested at least three different times from [redacted] pool store. On the phone this past week the customer

shared the pool chemistry numbers with me and in all three cases the water

chemistry was not in balance.

I called the manager at the [redacted] store that the customer

gets his chemicals tested because the test results differ from what the pool

looks like. The manager remembered the

customer and readily admitted that he made a mistake on the last test report

and that the cynauric acid test was higher than what was reported on the test

report. Without proper cynauric acid

chlorine cannot do its job. The bottom

line is, the pool water has never been in balance since the cover was installed

which is the customers responsibility.

Pool covers help to maintain chemicals for long periods of time since no

more dirt, debris or sunlight gets into the pool. As good as our pool cover is it will not take

unbalanced water and make it better.

We have successfully hibernated hundreds of pools in

Arizona. The handful of people that have

had issues just like this customer all had improperly balanced pool water. Most of the time the people are embarrassed

or do not quite understand what they need to do to balance their chemicals and

appreciate the help that we give them.

People have to be accountable for following all the directions we have

offered them. This customer has not followed

all the directions.

We sent the customer a lengthy email explaining all this to

them so we can have everything in writing so that there are no

misunderstandings. As a conciliatory gesture to an unhappy customer we offered

to clean and condition their pool cover which is a $425 value for free. They had previously paid for that service so they

understand the value.

As of this response to the Revdex.com complaint we have not heard

back from the customer since our last email. We do not believe that this complaint should

be held against us since we did everything we could to educate the customer on

the need to balance their chemicals.

Tell us why here...

I usually do not take the time to post reviews but when a company goes beyond the norm to provide great service I felt a review was in order. We had a prior Solar Safe Pool Cover that had some issues. When I reported it to the company the owner personally called me back. Even though the cover was several years old he agreed to replace it within the terms of the original warranty at a prorated price.

We bought our original cover for safety reasons and felt that it was by far the best safety product for our backyard and lifestyle. The few minutes that the cover takes to remove was worth the extra piece of mind it gave us over using a fence.

Even though we bought the cover for safety we fell in love with all the other benefits. In addition to having the pool be warmer it has paid for itself in a lower APS bill, chemical and water costs and the really big benefit is how much less time we spend taking care of the pool.

I would recommend Solar Safe Pool Covers to anyone that has a pool.

We contracted with Solar Safe Pool Covers to create a locking pool cover for our oddly shaped 13,000 gallon pool. They had good communication in setting up the appointment. Two individuals arrived with a large sewing machine that they set up right by the pool. They spent the next few hours cutting and sewing it to match my shape of my pool, including going around the water features. They placed brass fittings into the cool deck and attached brass screws into the cover. They showed us how to put the cover on and take it off. They also gave us the electric drill and attachment to fasten the screws. We had the cover on all winter with the pump running for an hour once a week. When we took it off in April, the water looked clean. We saved some great $$$ on the electric bill and it keep the pool clean and safe all winter.
