Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. [redacted]’s
complaint.  Her dates of attendance ranged  from September of
2001  until December 2008.  In December, during her final term she
withdrew after attending only a few weeks but was still responsible for the
charges for that term.  You can see from the attached ledger  that
she did receive a partial refund for the term and her scholarship and a small
amount of Pell.  After all of those were taken into consideration she owed
$2097.83.

This account was turned over to collections in April of
2009.  There was no activity on the account until September of 2013 when
Ms. [redacted] began making payments.  As of June 2015 her current balance is
$579.83.  Please let us know if we can provide any further information.

I
must advise you that American National is bound by the provisions of the
Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) which, among other things,
prohibits the release of most educational information about a student to third
parties unless specific, written authorization is received...

from that
student.  Unfortunately a
complaint to the RevDex.com does not constitute such authorization and accordingly the
information we can provide about the
student's educational record, including charges and adjustments to his
student account, is limited.  If the student can complete the form below we will be happy to respond further.  Thank you.

Student Consent to Disclose Records
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
(FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records
and requires that students specifically authorize American National University
to release certain information from their records if they wish it to be
provided to other people or to outside agencies. This form provides the means
by which students may authorize the release of information to other parties.  Refer to the American National University
FERPA Policy located in the University catalog or on the University website ([redacted]) for more information.

In review of the situation and records, it looks like the original warranty on the unit according to our records expired approximately 5 years ago.

We're sorry to hear about the issues experienced. There does seem to be some confusion regarding the difference in the work we quoted vs. the $185 repair. The issue we found when we arrived was that the main sewer line was clogged. After the first technician attempted to clear the line, he found he...

was pulling back roots. This is fairly common, when a main sewer line clogs up there is usually a problem with the pipe itself. Objects usually don't get stuck in there, they're far more likely to get stuck in the smaller pipes leading to the large main line. So when we find roots, that means there is break in the pipe letting those roots in. Simply cutting those roots out is only a temporary solution, and depending on the extent of the damage it may not last that long. When our camera specialist came to inspect the line we found that the issue was much worse than expected. There were two sections of the pipe that still had major root infiltration and worse yet, the pipe was separating and nearing collapse. Added to this there is a major misconception is that we can just "cable" all the roots out. The cable really just punches a hole to get flow restored. Sometimes this can last as much as a year, but often times its much less as the roots will grow back. The whole time they are growing back, they are damaging the pipe. With all of this in mind, my fear is that the other company simply ran a cable again and really has done little more than we did originally, except possible get a few more roots out. Again, those will grow back. The real solution and repair is to either dig up and replace the pipe, or to use a trenchless repair system that lines the inside of the old pipe with a new, solid pipe that is stronger than the original. The later is an option most of our customer like as it doesn't disrupt their landscaping. If the pipe collapses we don't have any option except to dig up the yard and replace the pipe. This is why we gave this as an option now, while it's still a viable one. Again, I cannot know for sure what the other company did, but this exact scenario has unfortunately been all to common where customers have been convinced that they can just cable the line with no concern, only to be left with no option when the line ultimately fails and then the home owner is forced to make a rash decision if they want to get their system working again. I'm terribly sorry if this wasn't explained well from the beginning, it sounds like it clearly wasn't. I'd be happy to explain in further detail. Just call and ask for Zane Pockrandt, he's the Plumbing Manager and can help with any other concerns.

We understand the frustration that Mrs. [redacted] had. The final issue being that the system installed by another contractor has been mismatched. The outdoor system  is designed to run with a different refrigerant than the indoor system. We have reached out to offer her a credit towards a repair...

or replacement for work done with another company and suggest that Mrs [redacted] contact a company that she is comfortable handling her issue.  We have left a message with Mrs [redacted] and are waiting on word back to resolve the issue.

This is a response to the claim associated with the ID of [redacted] from [redacted]Dear Mr. [redacted]I would like to apologize for the frustrating experience you had regarding your recent drain call. At Apollo we strive to provide our customers with the highest level of customersatisfaction. We have...

reviewed the service calls along with pictures of the roots and cracks in the main building drain taken by the technician that was onsite. We attempted to restore flow to main building drain with a cable, which was unsuccessful due to root intrusion in the sewer line. Due to the fact that flow to the main building drain was unable to be restored with a cable, we recommended and completed the Hydro Jetting process. We jetted from the main stack clean out to the city right of way, and restored flow to the main building drain. We believe that there was a distinct separate issue in that the branch line from the laundry was also obstructed - we attempted to clear this line from the floor drain and were unable to restore flow due to limited access and the existing condition of the pipe. We made no charge for this additional drain attempt, but do feel it would be fair and reasonable to reimburse the cost of $239.00 to Mr. [redacted] that he paid to another contractor that was able to successfully clear the remaining branch laundry line.We would also be happy to have our camera technician make a complimentary visit to show Mr.[redacted] the condition of the building main drain line.

Just to be clear, we have went this route before and the college continues to send the same incorrect documentation.  If these are the same documents that they continue to send there will be no need to send them. I need to make it clear, I would like the signed documents dated on the dates I have provided. Not documents dated 1 or two years after these dates. If the college will provide 4 separate signatures on these dates they will be accepted and the complaint will be closed. If they continue to send the same incorrect documentation it will not be accepted and I will continue to dispute and disregard this false debt.  Thank you for your attention to this matter[redacted]

Again, we're sorry we could not come to a satisfactory solution. We would love to be able to run a profitable business at the rates described in the response, but the simple fact is that to deliver the level of responsiveness and caliber of technicians and plumbers that our customers have demanded of us, we just cannot do it. We'll gladly refund the $79  to [redacted] We do not want him to feel that he was misled or taken advantage of in any way.

Although the business did not respond through the Revdex.com process, the consumer did state all the money has been refunded to the VA.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. The money has been refunded to the VA.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. This is inaccurate, Appollo was the installer of the unit in my house. So the warrenty would have fallenfallen under Appollo. The guy I talked to even had the date in which they installed it in the house because he wanted tonlet me know that the warranty expired on it in August.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

We are sorry for the experience you encountered in your call with Apollo.  Since the warranty was not with Apollo; but, with the manufacturer and was not originally installed by Apollo our Customer Service Specialist was not fully aware of how the warranty situation applies to your systems and...

should not have attempted to answer your question without seeking a person here to provide an accurate answer during your initial call.   In addition, the Customer Service Specialist should have communicated our service schedule to you in a more accurate manner.  Apollo Care Customers are guaranteed 24 hour service when their systems shut down. In some cases this requires us to reschedule or delay calls. We do everything possible to accommodate all customers; but, there are times when re-scheduling or delaying calls are required. We are sorry for the inconvenience that is has caused. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

This is in response to the letter we received dated January 27, 2016 concerning [redacted].

I regret that the college cannot provide further details about [redacted]’s student account, but the provisions of FERPA are quite clear in that regard. Should [redacted] desire that we provide you with detailed information concerning his financial or other educational records, he must specifically authorize us in writing and we will be glad to supplement this response.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have attached the appropriate form, in order to get requested information. I never agreed verbally or in writing as to any type of payment arrangement. I made payments while trying to get them to do the "right" thing.   I have not even attended classes there in over 8 years.

We're very sorry for the missed diagnosis. We'll gladly refund the $550 requested to remedy the situation. One point we would like to clarify to remove some concern and fear of potentially missing these repairs had they gone with the repairs immediately is the fact that we always include an air test...

in any gas line repairs for this very reason. Unfortunately, not all gas leaks get detected with the electronic gas detectors, so we use that as a primary means of detection and then a air test when there is evidence of more concerns. It would have been great for [redacted] to explain this much more on the front and, and rest assured we will definitely use this a teachable moment for both [redacted] and all the other technicians in the field.

Business will reach out to her via email as they are eager to get the complaint closed.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response.  If you wish, you may update it before sending it.  If you and the business have reached an agreement and compliance is set for a future date, we trust the business will comply.  Please...

contact us after that time if the matter is not resolved as agreed and we will review the complaint and proceed accordingly.]
