I have a side job for an organization that runs tournaments throughout the U.S. in the months of April, May, and June. I usually do about 5 a year; most of those through Spirit (not anymore, but I'll get to that) and the organization pays me back for my flights. I had purchased my round-trip ticket from Atlanta to Dallas well over a month ago leaving May 26 at 6:24 pm. The organization had already paid me back for the cost of the flight. Fast-forward to today and when I arrived at the airport the flight has been cancelled due to "air traffic control discretion" whatever that means. I wasn't given any explanation as to what that could possibly mean as apparently the kiosk agents and the supervisor working at around 4pm today, Davell (who I will get to later) couldn’t give a straight answer about it. Then I was given options, the only option I needed though was to get on another flight, but apparently the only other flight left Saturday night and by that time it would have been too late and the organization I work for would have had me refund their flight reimbursement. I then took the refund money and proceeded to ask for the supervisor. Now, Davell was the least helpful supervisor I have ever been around. She made a bad situation so much worse with her uncaring attitude and her only function seemed to be to read from a script. I used to work in a call center and she was embarrassing. She reiterated there was nothing to she could do and that all my options had been laid out to me, and that was that. Now, I was getting sufficiently pissed off at this point, but I knew Davell was unwilling to entertain any fcedil;ade of being helpful, so I asked for a number to call and it turned out the number was the generic customer service number. The person I talked to was just as unhelpful as Davell. First, I could barely hear her and I asked her to speak up numerous times. Second, she kept advising me to buy another ticket on another airline, which would have cost significantly more money than 160, so her only option was for me to lose even more money than I already had up to that point. The whole process was infuriating, itic, disrespectful, and involved a complete lack of caring from anyone at your airline. I will never again fly Spirit.

I recently purchased a round trip flight to Mexico from Houston for my brothers wedding in 5 months. A few days later I receive an email stating my departing date was pushed back one day. So I am now flying out 1 day sooner than what I had originally planned. I called customer service and they kept stating that my flight was no longer available and nothing was flying out that day. They change their story stating the aircraft needs maintenance work. They know 5 months ahead of time that they aircraft will need maintenance??? Bologna! I know they overbooked the flight and bumped me. The only solution they gave me was to either accept the flight changes or get a refund. I don't want a refund. I don't want to accept the flight changes because then I would have to pay an extra day of expenses in Mexico. They will not pay for any of this which I think is ridiculous!! I filed a report on Revdex.com and emailed their corporate office directly. This was my first time booking with Spirit and my last. Rookie mistake!

Horrible airline full of misinformation. They trick you into buying very low fare tickets, but oh surprise, then you have to buy your bags and your seats and even the water they charge you for, so my ticket that I thought I had bought at a great price of $178, ended up being close to $400. And I thought F[redacted] was the only airline that would nickel dime you.. I will NEVER fly this airline again in my life. Tricky and dishonest.

Recently I've booked a ticket for my dad with Spirit Airlines. It was ATL to ORD and they had shown online ticket online around $75. After applying all charges ticket came out to $176!!!!!!!! And surprisingly I've added only one bag to the ticket. Adding a bag costs just $25-$35 and mostly no charges for a seat in all other airlines, but spirit charged me $60 and $10.00 for the seat. After charging the $176 they have an awesome policy of refund if the cancellation is being processed within 24 hours AND prior to 7 days of travelling. I was way before than 7 days of travelling but it's just a cheating that they don't want to cancel anything. They offer me a big amount of cancellation refund and that was $20.20!!!! So, practically $155 goes towards cancellation. Also, they give credit towards next ticket purchase. That means you are being foolish one more time if you want to use that credit.

I have had two unusually bad experiences with Spirit Airlines. I only use Spirit because it provides the only direct flight between Boston and Myrtle Beach.
Experience 1: A few years ago my husband, daughter and I were flying Spirit from Myrtle Beach to Boston and our flight got diverted. We landed in Atlantic City and after hours of waiting and a $7 food allowance per person were told our plane had been diverted elsewhere and Spirit was trying to find another pilot and crew. A crew volunteered for the flight, but the pilot had timed out. Our flight was canceled. We asked when the next flight would be and were told the next flight was IN FOUR DAYS! There was no compensation offered--no hotel stay, car rental, free flight, nothing. We ran to the car rental service and got the last car available, drove all night to Boston.
Experience 2: I flew to Boston in mid-December. The flight, which leaves at 10:30 p.m., was 6 hours late. I had to sit up in the airport all night and was so exhausted the next day I had to cancel all my plans. Again, no compensation was offered.
Again, I end up using Spirit because it is the only direct flight. I don't know why it has a monopoly on direct flights, but it does.

This is the first time that I used Spirit Airlines and will also be the last time I ever use Spirit Airlines to fly. Let me describe my horrid experience with this airline. I had a flight from Tampa Florida to Detroit Michigan. While in Tampa, our flight was delayed for 4 hours because Spirit Airlines was waiting on flight attendants. This airline delays people because they do not have flight attendants. On top of this, there was no compensation for the 4 hour wait. I arrived at my destination 4.5 hours late because this horrid airline does not have enough flight attendants. My horrid experience does not end there. On the way back from Detroit Michigan back to Tampa Florida, I arrived 2 hours early, and the check in line was 1.5 hours long. I almost missed my flight and was not allowed to go ahead of the line to check in. I have never waited 1.5 hours at a check in line in all my experience of flying. This has been the most horrid exhausting flying experience of my life. It was bad enough for me to submit this review to the Revdex.com. I will never ever fly with Spirit airlines and will recommend everyone that I know to never use Spirit airlines. They are a cheap airlines that does not treat people with any respect but more like animals.

This ariline has the worst business conduction. I paid for my airline ticket over a month in advance and checked in 24 hours online as advised by the email confirmation, I get to the airport on time and go through TSA. I did not pay for a specific seat assignment so I had to be assigned a seat, well because I didn't pay, I never received a seat even though my ticket was paid and I had a confirmation number. My vacation ruined and the day supervisor refused to come and speak with me, leaving me stuck from an 11:40 am flight and put on not asked 6pm flight arriving to my destination 8 hours late. I had a rent a car to pick up at my destination at a certain time and to be checked into the hotel. On my return trip the airline canceled the flight without any prior notification, leaving me in another horrible situation and having to rent a car ( my out of pocket expense) to get home and miss a day of work jeoprodizing penalization of my job!
I WILL NEVER USE THIS AIRLINE, VACATION RUINED DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL AND I HAD TO PAY MORE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES AND THE DAY SUPERVISOR REFUSED TO COME AND SPEAK TO ME!!!!!
BAD, UNPROFESSIONAL, INAPPROPRIATE WAY TO DO BUSINESS.

Our experience with Spirit Airline was a really negative one. We had reservations for October 29, 2015. But due to an emergency we needed to cancel the flight. Although the day of my cancellation was October 7, 2015, twenty-two days from the flight date. The cancellation was the full cost of the ticket. Since we do not know when we will be able to travel I was told couldn't and that Spirit do not issue vouchers. To put it simply we were out of the entire funds less about 20 dollars. That makes no sense that a flight is not allowed to be cancelled more than 3 weeks in advance. NEVER NEVER EVER WILL I BOOK A FLIGHT WITH spirit.

spirit is a terrible airlines their luggage charges are horrible

Spirit automatically deduced membership fees from our credit card without our approval. We called them and they cancelled the membership but kept the fee. We called the credit card and they disputed the fee and we were still charged. This practice ,in my opinion, is theft and needs to stop. Please look into this situation and alert others of this unfair practice.

Sprit airline never mentioned a carrie on bag just a personal bag that can be 12x14x16 so my bag was just that maybe a 1/4 of inch tall they have a measuring device that is clearly smaller then that in height so if you add wheels on is well over there limit putting you in there bate and switch scam it cost me 300.00 dollars and I forced to pay at door step of airplane you might as well give them a gun so they can rob unsuspecting patrons I would like to file a complaint and would like you to get the word out so sprit cannot get robbed like I have

Spirit airlines = awful! They may seem like a very affordable way to travel but not only do all their " fees" add up their planes have always been delayed or even canceled! My husband and I were trying to leave Vegas on our normal scheduled flight - they were delayed an hour then when we got to the airport canceled " due to weather". Well weather in Vegas and Cleveland were perfectly fine -- meaning all other flights were flying in and out. Spirit airlines answer to solve this problem was they would refund us 20% of what we paid or wait for "!tomorrow" not even knowing if that flight can be counted on. They referred us to " United for $186 per person with no help or refunds at all. Well after running through a international airport trying to catch this flight and spending another $500 - the flights were sold out! At 4 am!! So when spirit referred us to this flight --- they had been sold out for 5 hours at this point! Long story short - spirit got our money--- southwest got our money and we spent $1000 on flights when we only should have spent $300 (including hotel). At least southwest has good customer service. Spirit uses " weather" anywhere in the world as an excuse to pardon their poor service. Never again! This company needs to be held to some standards and or fold up. This is not right . Never fly Spirit

I have to say that Spirit Airlines is the worst customer service company I have ever dealt with. You can never reach a live person to talk to, to try and resolve an issue or ask a question.
I recommend that people stop using them and pay a few dollars more on other airlines and get much better Customer service. There fares are not cheaper when they add in all the extra charges.

This airline lost our luggage on a trip from Los Angeles, CA to Chicago, IL. We were in Chicago from Friday to Monday morning. I did not recieve my luggage till Saturday night and my wife and daughter did not get theres till Sunday afternoon. I have no idea how this airline stays in business with the buffons they employ. They charge you for everything and then make you sign all kinds of disclaimers. I should have made them sign one themselves to protect me.

I would suggest not to use Spirit Airline. They charge you for everything and when we were charged for something we did not want they were initially not going to refund our money- we had not used the service, day before we were suppose to fly out. We were told that they couldn't refund our money but instead give us credit. We refused credit because we will never use them again! That was all after being charged for carry-ons and charged to check-in! It wasn't until having to speak to a supervisor and telling them we were going to contact the Revdex.com we were told we can have our refund. Low cost ticket was just a tactic to get you to buy them later charge you an arm and a leg.

I got a Spirit MasterCard in order to get the free airline miles. It made me create a username and password. Two months later, I tried to log in to use these miles, and the username/password combo didn't work. I'll admit, it is very possible that I forgot the password I had created, so I clicked on the link "forgot password". It said it would e-mail me how to re-set my password. IT NEVER DID. I waited hours. I checked my spam. I called the phone number on my Spirit MasterCard bill--THEY TRANSFERED ME A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF AN HOUR AND A HALF! When I asked for a manager, I got transferred to the main Spirit phone number where you go to book flights. That's when I finally hung up.

This is company. does not provide a clear business, The customer service, is practically to resolve anything, their policies, terms and conditions, are unfair and unclear. Their non refundable policy is clearly done to make profit even without bringing a service. Be aware of their Fare Club renewal policy and the non refund money on trips even when cancelled in advance

Being that this is not an accredited business and I cannot place a complaint with the Revdex.com based on monetary issues, I place the entire conversation below. This place is a SHAM and will take your money. Do NOT use them as an airline.

I am reporting you to the Revdex.com. Your rep at the ticket counter said nothing about additional charges and my bag was not overweight. You guys are a sham and take advantage of passengers that do not read the pages and pages of fine print. That is very bad business and you will never again have me as a passenger again. I will also be sure to let everyone I know not to fly your airline.

I was charged $100 for a carry-on bag under the pretenses that my bag surpassed weight limits. It was never weighed either at the ticket counter or boarding counter and I was still allowed to carry it on board after I paid the fee. Please read the entire attachment and look at the photos. I want my money back.
