Like any good scammer the first ones free.
The free reader starts the victim off with ease, then pressure of not being covered by chip nfc cards start being emailed, so you spend the money buy a chip card reader but it's battery life is no good, but here this is a new chip card reader, buy this one.. And add a dock, and wireless printer, cash drawer- it will make your small business look professional and you will be in your way-- sounds like a good investment ok--- then your account is permanently deactivated- no reason no human contact no phone call - and no use for your trash hardware you now own.
My there month love affair with square write above.
I was forced into hardware once bought, cut off from square.
No charge back no fraud no terms of service violation no improprieties on our end.
Just support and backing from a once excited user. Then
"our decision to deactivate your account is final. Due to the obligations of our agreements with card networks and other financial institutions, we cannot reverse this decision and are unable to provide additional details. "

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I paid for this device with the intentions of using it at my business, after my first weekend using it the account was deactivated by you with no explanation. You cannot sell something and not allow someone to use it without an explanation as to why. I also recently found out one of my customers from that weekend also had $[redacted] taken out that I have not received in my account. This looks bad to my business. I have not been able to contact your customer service and have not been offered anything for my loss of time or money.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Do not do business with this company. Not only ate the fees higher than most places. I recently opened a small car dealership. I took my first down payment and it took 2 days to get to me the second one was 3000 dollars. They decided to hold the money and have me send them my business license, state documents, and contract to the sale. I unhappily sent them to square. They them took 2 days and told me they are deactivating my account and holding my money for 90 days. Being a small very new business 3000 dollars is a lot of money.

I contacted Square to get some help with itemizing shipping fees with my online store and got ZERO help. The guy that assisted me on the phone was rude, sounded clueless, put me on hold twice and when he went to put me on hold for the third time...hung up! I will be taking my point of sale business and online store elsewhere.

Hello [redacted],
Upon further investigation, I see that a member of Square's Account Services team reviewed your account and elected to terminate the account in accordance with Article 42 of the Square Seller Agreement: "We may terminate...

this Agreement and close your Square Account for any reason or no reason at any time upon notice to you. We may also suspend the Services and access to your Square Account (including the funds in your Square Account) if you (a) have violated the terms of this Agreement, any other agreement you have with Square, or Square's policies, (b) pose an unacceptable credit or fraud risk to us, or (c) provide any false, incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information or otherwise engage in fraudulent or illegal conduct."
I also see that your refund completed on September 25th and there are no funds currently pending in your account. There are no other updates for this account.

shady company, but thanks fo at least refunding the card.

Please refer to the latest email correspondence sent by Square on [redacted]. Hello [redacted], Thanks for writing in. We understand that it can be frustrating to have your account deactivated. Unfortunately, due to security reasons and the obligations of our agreements with card networks and other financial institutions, we cannot reverse this decision and are unable to provide additional details. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but our decision to deactivate your account is final.

We have delt with square since may 2016. This past week they froze our account asking for more document's. We sent everything in same day, we recieved an email saying it will take 1-2 business days to clear. We are past that dead line and the account is still frozen while they sit back and collect interest off my business money!! There customer care team is the worst ive ever spoke to. They will go as far as hanging up on you after being rude and non helpful. They wont let you talk to anyone in the verification department. This is beyond the worst company we have ever delt with!!!

The only way for someone to log in your account is by having access to your phone or email associated with your account. Also, if you signed into your [redacted]...

account on someone else's device without signing out, the device owner could click into your account. There isn't a password associated with a [redacted] account. Instead, you're sent a one-time-use confirmation code for every attempt to sign in with your email or phone number. You can also sign out of your account from your device and sign back in so you know you are the only person who has access to this account.I hope this information is helpful! If you need help with anything else, please feel free to reply to me here.

This is the same exact response I have received from Square from the beginning!  Square has not aloud me to verify that all of my transactions are legitimate.  I have valid signatures and ID's of my customers.  I cannot refund my customers because this is a vacation rental business and some of them have already checked out of the property.  Initially I charge $[redacted] to hold reservation then charge the remaining upon arrival.  Square is illegally holding funds of customers of so called "high risk", they did not even take the initiative to verify if the transactions are actually high risk.  And now they are holding the funds I need to run my business for 90 days!  This is not fair business practice at all!  I demand availability of the funds or further legal action will be taken.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because the business has sent me this automatic response twice.  That is why I have filed the complaint.  My business is not included in the section they are talking about.  Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
This is not true, this is the 1st time we ever used your service. We sold a vehicle and now you have our money.
I want my funds released today. Not 90 days, I need this money to get through winter.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: This is not all about deactivating my account. The customer items are in the possession of vantel pearls Co and I am getting daily chargebacks! I do not have anyone's money or products. Several emails a day is harassing me regarding a situation that you have been told over and over, I have nothing to do with! Sincerely,[redacted]

I have fallen victim to the "hold your funds, request verification, receive verification, surprise account deactivation, and zero communication" process that Square has become known for. Their customer support process seems to be as elusive as it is in order to be able to perform these highly questionable and inconsiderate tactics without any "hassle." I really hope the word gets out more and people understand upfront just what this company is and what they are capable of. It is very clear that they DO NOT care about you or your small business.

I am a small business owner and was using square for 2 weeks when they suddenly terminated my account without giving me any notification as to why. I attempted to contact them numerous times but was unable to get in touch with anyone. After doing some research online, I found that they will not talk to you over the phone if your account is not active??? On top of that they are holding my funds for 90 days!!! Your telling me you keeping my money hostage for 90 days and I cant talk to anyone to ask why they are doing this??? As a small business it is very important that we receive our funds to keep our business a float. I was told it was written in their general terms of service agreement, so I read the entire agreement; and no where in the agreement does it say they will hold your funds for 90 days or any amount of time even. I understand that you have to investigate if there is a suspected issue, and there needs to be some time allotted to do so. A week or two is understandable, but it is not right and should be illegal to hold someone's funds for 90 days!!! Absurd!!! It is difficult enough for small business owners to maintain a business with its limited resources, but it makes it even more difficult when one of your resources, square, becomes a hinderance.

We first started with this company back in 2011, in 2014 our place of business was robbed and they broke into our place of business, not only was our bank account hacked but also our Square account, Square was notified ASAP and we were advised to close our account and we also close our bank account, we opened a new account the next day. To make a long story short, we just signed up with Square again, and now Square has taken money from us for the simple fact we were robbed and someone hacked into their service, first off they need better security, second Square has robbed us of $5380.00 stating we owe them, we have notified them, EVEN sent a letter they sent us back in 2014 knowing the problem and it was resolved then, also they have copies of police report and pictures, they clearly messed up and stole from us and don't even answer emails or phone calls, Very unprofessional. we will be filing a law suit next along with a complaint against them with FTC as well.

I find it very irritating you can not call Square, even though they promise you can. I ordered a reader years ago but never signed up for the service, I am unable to now because they have my email address in their registry already.
