StandUP Wireless Reviews (50)

Pros: Lots of minutes (during the promotional period? I didn't stay long enough to find out about that). Plenty of texting for most uses. Enough data to be useful except for the below cons.

Cons: Ultra-cheaply-built phone that comes loaded to the brim with Adware.

My experience: I got a StandUP Wireless phone a couple of months ago at a local booth - the only local booth available. When I signed up, I thought "5000 minutes...wow, I rarely go through the 500 that most of these companies give." Then I started playing around with the phone. First, it comes with a "News and Rewards" (read: Ads) Lock Screen. I quickly disabled that...and started running into full-screen pop-up ads while using my phone in other ways. I went in and agressively disabled as much of the adware as I could, but one thing I could never find to disable, was some sort of "app of the day" thing this phone does, where every once in a while (not daily, but not really weekly either) the phone simply downloads and installs some app that someone paid to have put on it - among them were Craigslist and Reddit, which were both tame and semi-understandable, if not particularly welcome to me. Less "tame", however, were "Movies-TV" and "Pop". The former is pretty much what it says on the tin, and the latter is a game...and both insisted on shoving themselves in my face a few times while using the phone. Oh, and the cherry on top? I had "conserve data" on...but whatever this downloader was didn't honor that...and would insist on redownloading anything I tried uninstalling. I get it, folks, you want to make money. Given your competition, however, and the fact that we can switch almost with impunity, I think you've gone too far here. To give you an example, I just switched to *** Wireless, who sent me a phone that's obviously much better built, if not strictly better technically (1G Ram and a quad-core 1ghz processor vs the Beat's 0.5G Ram and quad-core 1.3ghz processor), and runs a newer version of Android as well. And while the phone does have a featured apps pane....none of the apps featured are forcing themselves in my face atm, so I can live with that.

To Whom This May Concern,

The devices that StandUp Wireless offers meet the minimum standard requirement of the Lifeline program. However, we regret that the consumer was unsatisfied with their device.

The promotional offer was only valid for a period of time. We are sorry to lose the consumer as a customer.

They advertise unlimited talk for 10. and they actually give 5,000. which is not unlimited. Also, I was told the total charged to my mastercard would be 10.37 and they charged an extra dollar. without my permission. I have made my credit care company aware.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment 1.00 returned to my credit cart, and for them to stop advertising unlimited minutes with 5,000 minutes indicates LIMIT

To Whom This May Concern,

StandUp Wireless offers an unlimited talk and text plan for $10. However, per StandUp Wireless Terms and Conditions, unlimited does not mean unreasonable. If a consumer subscribes to rate plans, services or features that are described as unlimited, the consumer should be aware that such "unlimited" plans are subject to StandUp Wireless's Acceptable Use Policy contained in the Terms & Conditions.

The consumer was charged $10.37 for the plan. The $1.00 transactions are just the preauthorization. The $1.00 stays on the account as long as the customer's credit card company wants to keep it on there, which is out of StandUp's control.

I received a phone and service from StandUP Wireless as I am on medicaid and receive SNAP benefits. I have had nothing but trouble with the phone itself. Either no service at all (it doesn't work where I live, I have to go outside to make a call) or, getting only a voicemail after missing a call that never came through. I have been in contact through email and the responses seem suspicious. They want me to shell out my own cash "roughly $55" to replace a product they admit to be defective. And asking for my address and a "good" number to reach me. My number came from them and, I've already given my address. That's how it was decided that the phone was defective. It all seems very fishy. They are either unable or just unwilling to provide a list of other devices compatible with their service (they say they run on the T-Mobile network, which someone else in the house uses with no problems at all.) Leaving me stuck in a bind. Ridiculous.

Desired Outcome

Replacement I want a replacement with the newest model offered to be able to keep up with the T-Mobile 4G LTE network. Or a voucher to be able to go out and get my own phone that is compatible with their service. Free.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
This result is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

I have attempted to acquire cell phone service from StandUp wireless for better than 2 months. I applied via their web site. Their site would not
receive my scanned documents. I was told to wait for an application in
the mail. I waited for 2 weeks twice. I then was told to download an application and mail it in. I did. And nearly four weeks later, still no cell phone. I called yet again and was told to reapply. I called the follo-
wing day and finally after waiting over 30 minutes, I spoke to a supervisor
who checked for my records, under the wrong name. I asked him how he spelled my name. He had not been searching under the name I had given him. We keep sending our companies/businesses to foreigners. Many of them can't understand us, nor we them. The supervisor got frustrasted and said he could no longer hear me. And hung up. When I called back. The rep said he could not hear me and hung up. So after 2 months and my documents and application submitted still no phone. This was a government phone application. I am elderly and disabled, on a fixed income and this was my hope of having a cell phone in case of any eventualities.

Desired Outcome

Finish the job I want and very much need this cell phone. If this is a legitimate business, I would appreciate them sending me the phone and services that they advertise on their web site. If they cannot do that, they need to rescind their web site ads.

Upon recieving a lifeline phone with the company I also recieved a promotional plan that I was not told about. For months I recieved 4000 or 5000 minutes. I never got a text showing how many minutes recieved or that minutes were replinished every month. This happened for at least 5 months. Now I have a message saying I have 7 minutes remaining, I call customer service and I am then told about the promoyional minutes and that the promotion ended and not I am on alloted 500 per month but I have used all but 7 minutes remaining. I asdk if I can replinish minutes and I can but there is no unlimited plan for existing customers. I ask if I xcan get information to port my number out and I am told that Standup wireless doesnot participate in porting in or out of cellphone numbers. I am furious that I have real business to attend to and I am very enconvienienced by thier not warning me that I was loosing a promotion in minutes and that there was no solution given by cc to relieve my frustration about having no service and no way to attain service with my cell number that I need to conduct important business.
Account_Number: XXXXXXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like to be offered to buy an unlimited plan if it is available at all. I would like additional minutes put on my account if no unlimitedn plan is available and or the option to port my number out to a company that is willing and can meet my needs as a valued customer.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Only after filing a complaint with the Revdex.com was this issue resolved. A customer concern should not require this much. Customer servivce and professionalism with this company is lacking.

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! I have been trying for 5 days now to get my phone turned back on. Sent in recertification paperwork more than a month ago. They did not accept the request but did not contact me stating the denial. Found out phone was shut off when it happened. Have re-applied 3 times, sending in what they ask for, only to be denied again. They told me to re-apply in 2 hours but now get notice saying I am denied because I already receive a benefit. Can't understand operator half the time. How is it that a government-issued phone is dealt with using overseas operators when Trump touts putting Americans back to work?

For three weeks I have been trying to re-certify my cell phone *** but still waiting for a contract by mail. I tried to do this by Computer but explained that I am not that knowledgeable and have a hard time with attachments, etc. I need my phone when driving to and from dialysis. I never know how my health will hold up. In the past years it was easy to re-certy by phone. My phone will be cut off on 7/29. I will have to by a phone which is a finacial hardship. I will loose over9,600 minutes. They do not understand customer service be cause the govt pays them

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I need a contract and now I will have to apply as a new cell customer

I signed up with Stand Up Wireless on 12/10/17 and it took several months for me to get a local telephone number and I had asked that voicemail be turned OFF on the phone. I had never set up voicemail but found out a few days ago my daughter may be denied Social Security survivor's benefits because the clerk of court left a detailed message on the voicemail *** had supposedly asked Stand Up Wireless's carrier Sprint to turn off. Out of desperation I contacted *** again and set up voicemail. Every call I get, even if the person hangs up, tells me I have a new message and the ones that are actually messages I am unable to understand the playback.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) Turn voicemail OFF on cell phone number *** immediately.

To Whom It May Concern,

Covered in our terms and conditions are the details outlining the terms of service with StandUP Wireless. We state that a customer must accept the number assigned to them and they may not select a specific number for service. In an attempt to go satisfy this consumer, we worked vigorously to get a specific local number assigned to this consumers device.

StandUP Wireless' terms and conditions also state that certain functions of the service may not be available for the handset, which includes the ability to turn off the voicemail feature. However, we again aim to satisfy all customers needs and have removed the voicemail feature for this consumer. On each new cycle date the features are reset and the voicemail is reactivated automatically. We are working with our billing system and the carrier to introduce an enhancement that will alter the way the features are handled on the cycle date. This is not very high on the priority list but this functionality enhancement is something that is being worked on.

At the conclusion of the enhancement, this consumer will have the voicemail feature deactivated permanently, however until then, the feature may be reactivated at the cycle date. Once the enhancement is complete, we will reach out to the consumer to confirm the deactivation of the voicemail feature.

Because our terms and conditions that are available at enrollment explain the terms of service that we are meeting, we would like to consider this matter resolved.

Terms and Conditions are available at the link provided below.

I have attempted to recertify my lifeline account with this company. I have called over 20 times. I am getting a message when I attempt to recertify by both phone and internet that I do not have an account with that phone number but I do. I keep getting texts that I have not recertified and will be disenrolled within 3 weeks when the problem is an issue with this company.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I want the company to fix the problem of the recertification and send a text and also call me that the issue is fixed.

To Whom It May Concern,

We have spoke with the consumer regarding this complaint. The customer resides in an area outside of our network coverage area. During enrollment, the coverage showed a fair signal which can prove acceptable in some areas. Unfortunately for this consumer, we were unable to provide adequate signal based on our carrier's network coverage.

The consumer understood the situation. We directed the consumer to other providers that may have better coverage in her area with another carrier, and we provided the contact information for 3 other companies. Per her request, her service was deactivated. We would like to consider this matter resolved.

Thank you.

after finally gotten a working phone the new pone has stopped working properly
I have tried to contact customer service on 6 different occasions. On 2 calls I as on hold 15 minutes. The prsons I have spoken to didn't begin to understand what I was asking and I couldn't understand what they were saying. I cannot use the phone because it turns itself off while I try to use it.
In the short time I have had the phone the 1st 1 had to be replaced (at my expense) and now I have a useless device. I canot afford to pay for another phone, but hopeully this one can be repaired. Please advise me as soon as possible.

Desired Outcome

As I stated I would like to have a working phone. If I can take the phone locally to be repaired,I would accept that. At age 82 it is not safe for me not to have a phone. The Mobility service which I take for appointments insist you have a phone so they can contact you when the bus is ready to pick you up.

Product received does not work and customer is not satisfying issue and making customer feel as if it is the carrier
I sent in information showing I received assistance after seeing the ad on facebook that advertised an HTC carrier was not specified, I received a vortex 8 after approval . I called 3-4 different times to get the phone activated and it was never successful with activation so they offered to send a replacement phone with a return label to send the defective unit in and told me I would receive a replacement in 7-10 days, so I called *** today 5/30/18 to check the status and was routed to a rep who said he was in India and asked what was going on and if there was tracking information - he informs me that tracking has not been updated and to call back in a few days, then the rep said that nowadays they were not issuing replacement devices and said the carrier offered terrible service where I live ( T-Mobile) - advised the rep that I work for a large communications company and the fact that the device could not be activated at all had nothing to do with not being able to activate the device regardless if service was bad or not. He refused to connect me to a supervisor as requested several times and refused to give me his agent id number and gave me his name which I could not understand and his location which was India. I feel this is now a scam because this doesnt seem right especially after customers are giving personal details and receiving phones that are clearly defective . I would like a replacement that is not of that phone model because it is clearly defective and loaded with a bunch of apps that clog the space of the device .

Desired Outcome

I would like a replacement that is not of that phone model because it is clearly defective and loaded with a bunch of apps that clog the space of the device . If they are government issued devices that customers send personal information to obtain the least they can do if provide a better device and better customer service.

If there is an immediate person to reach out to, id be more than happy to call them . I've tried and tried to reach someone regarding this matter and either they do not notate the account because when I call I have to repeat the same information as to why I am calling or it is truly not the company they claim to be and they have all of my personal information including my social security number!

We were able to provide the consumer with a working device that meets the minimum standard requirements for the Lifeline program, however the consumer was not satisfied with the grade of the device. The customer resides in an area with inadequate coverage with the network carrier that we offer higher end devices with, so we were unable to meet the consumer's personal expectations.

We provided a list of contact information for other providers in her area that may be able to satisfy her device requirements at her request. An email was sent to the consumer to confirm whether she wanted to deactivate her service with StandUP Wireless but we have not received a response. Her service will remain active until further notice from the consumer, however we would like to consider this matter resolved.

To Whom It May Concern,

We were able to speak with Ms. about her phone service with Blue Jay Wireless. Her current phone service provider has gone out of business which will result in the disconnection of her service. We at StandUP Wireless were providing customer support on behalf of Blue Jay Wireless and there has been intermittent outages causing service interruptions. After understanding the experiences Ms. was having with customer service, I explained that I will be escalating to our quality assurance team to correct the issue. Ms. wanted to add more Data to her device. I was able to add 2GB of data free of charge for her inconvenience.

I also directed her to another Lifeline provider that may be able to provide her service before her Blue Jay Wireless account is disconnected. She will be reaching out to that provider. We would like to consider this matter resolved.

To Whom It May Concern

StandUP Wireless works with a number of different distribution partners to promote and distribute our products and services. The person that filed this complaint is not a consumer of StandUP's products or services. This person is not an employee of StandUP Wireless, but instead a contracted agent with one of our distribution partners who was/is authorized to distribute our products and services.

All payment related issues should be handled between the authorized agents and the distribution agency they are contracted with. We recommend this particular agent to contact the agency that he/she is/was contracted with to seek resolution for their complaint. Again, the person who filed this complaint is neither an employee of StandUP Wireless nor a consumer of our products or services.

It is our interpretation that this platform should be used as a means for consumers of our products and services to seek resolution for any and all complaints directly related to their experience with our products and services.

We would like to encourage the person who filed this complaint to contact us directly, not to hold StandUP Wireless responsible for his/her payment issues that he/she is experiencing with his/her contracted employer, but to seek help with presenting his/her complaint to the appropriate personnel that would be responsible for these payment issues.

We would however like to consider this matter resolved from a consumer complaint standpoint.

I have waited four months for a working phone. When I call customer service they sent me a phone that did not work for my area. I call and get told times that they will contact me and dates that I will have a working phone by and these deadlines are not kept or met. I have data that I cannot use in my area as the phone is not populated properly. I cannot get this issue resolved and they have not sent me a replacement phone. They say it has been sent and I have not gotten a tracker number for a phone that was suppose to be sent. I keep getting told that someone will call me back and no one calls me back. I need a phone for medical appointments and to contact my doctors.

We attempted to provide service with 3 different network carriers and were unable to provide coverage that allowed the customer to utilize the device features in their entirety. The consumer confirmed that *** is network carrier that works best in his area, and StandUP Wireless does not have *** accessibility. I helped the consumer locate contact information for another provider that does work with ***, and he will be establishing service with that company moving forward.
