My old A/C unit was acting up. My wife google searched AC companies and that how we got involved with Stay Cool. A technician showed up within the hour and quickly informed me we needed a new unit. Explained what was wrong and options. Since our old unit was more than 10 years old I decided to replace it with the best money could buy. $13K later, and the next day we had the new unit installed and working. Except it wasn't completed, because of lack of part availability. 2 weeks later it was finished. Every tech that we dealt with was great, but so are used sales car people until the money is in their pocket. 30 days later my unit doesn't work. I've called and get some call center that relays request for service that doesn't show up when promised. Sitting in a house without air conditioning. Stay Cool was spot on getting a unit installed and taking my money, but nowhere to be found when backing up the work or product. I filed a complaint with Reheem about there product and the company that provided the service. I recommend that Stay Cool be availed, because your patience will need to stay cool dealing with them.

install 06/23/2020. We had a Rheem a/c and duct work installed by Stay Cool of Oldsmar, FL. License #CAC1813978.
We had a Rheem a/c and duct work installed by Stay Cool of Oldsmar, FL, 06/23/2020. License #CAC1813978, 727-325-3554. Stay Cool technicians have returned to our home 14 times since date of install. There is water leakage on the right side of the handler. It only dries if a large fan is blowing on the handler. After the fan is shut off the handler starts to leak again. The permit has failed twice with Pasco County Code Enforcement, Permit number 20M04396. As of last inspection by the county, Stay Cool put in the wrong duct work. Per code enforcement, the duct work ("isn't seated right"), causing the unit to sweat, as it is not running efficiently. We are trying to get this problem fixed. We have sent an E-mail to Rheem customer service updating them of the current situation.

Desired Outcome

We want this unit repaired to our satisfaction, so that the unit runs efficiently and water leakage on the handler ceases. Please contact us. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. *** for any information you may need. Next contact with the business will be on Tuesday 9/8/2020.

After approximately 90 days of almost-daily phone calls to the Stay Cool office, the air conditioner passed Pasco County code inspection on 09/25/2020. The duct work that wasn't up to code was removed and the correct duct work was installed on 09/23/2020. The leaking plenum was repaired and the soaking wet mastic removed and replaced with a metallic more heat-resistant mastic applied to the handler. The leakage has stopped. The unit is functioning well and keeping our home cool.

This company is very unprofessional and does not do what it says it will.

I waited 8 hrs for them to arrive, 4 hours past the time they said they would arrive between 11-4.

Once the tech finally arrived he did not have any of his tools as he stated , the company sent him in a different truck. And was unable to do any repairs and I would have to wait 24 more hours for repair as they could not bring the right tools until 8pm the next day.

Anthony the tech called his mngr when I disagreed with this action and was told by the mngr that it " was not his job to make me feel better " and " I could stay mad and get a hotel for which they would pay me back or stay home and wait until 8pm the next day for repair "

Do not buy from this company , get a second opinion.... I wish I had

Mr. please call the office 18774COLDAC and ask to speak to Robert, I would like to get more information concerning this matter an hopefully identify exactly who you spoke with. I assure you we do not condone this from any of the Stay Cool staff and would like the opportunity to make your experience with us an enjoyable one. Lastly, thank you for taking them time to bring this to our attention so we can serve our customers much better in the future.

Excellent service and price! Open 24/7. Having owned rental properties in the Tampa Bay area since 2013, I've struggled to find a good reliable A/C company. That was until now! Two of my rentals A/C went out at within several days of each other. We needed work done quickly and these folks were out the next day installing 2 new units in each of our properties. They were quick, efficient and got the job done fast! The added bonus is they provide service 24/7 if ever needed. Thank you Stay Cool for going above and beyond! Highly Recommend!

As in a previous review I explained how the service removed the capacitor and said it was bad when the A/C was running perfectly. I told him to put it back. About a month or so later my A/C did go out. I called a reputable A/C company(Paradise) to repair the problem. The capacitor was bad. It was completely disfigured this time and obviously bad. He said the connections were loose. Possibly when serviceman from Stay Cool replaced it he left the connections loose? Very suspicious. Cost me $279 for an after hour service call and repair. Again zero stars..

Please call and ask to speak to Robert, I would like more details not this incident and would like to help you.

I called at 8:05PM on 7/26/2020 to have my A/C serviced due to it blowing out hot air. Was told they had an hour guarantee of a tech showing up but he should be there in about 45 mins. At 9:27PM I called back due to no one showing up or calling. Had to give after hours all my info again and was told someone would be there in an hour again. At 10:36PM tech called me and was in route. Arriving at right around 11:00PM tech walks to my outside unit and hears the compressor trying to kick on but it's just making a winding sound. Now remember this is the first 3 minutes of him being here. Immediately tells me that's the sound of a bad compressor and your unit needs a new one. Not taking the unit apart or doing anything he gets on the phone with a guy to see the availability of a new compressor since they're manically back ordered due to COVID as he's talking to this guy it was almost like watching a poorly made movie. Everything was till played and a compressor wouldn't be available until the end of August and would be at least $4,000. Was told it would be cheaper to replace the unit. I immediately just told the guy I'll deal with the heat tonight just to leave and their services were not going to be needed. Than after waiting 3 hours for nothing wanted to try to charge the service fee. We had another AC company come out today and the only issue was a wire which was burned up.... 10 min fix costing a simple service call fee of $50 yet these guys want to charge $4,000 plus when not even looking at the problem. Stay away unless you're ok with being taken advantage of. Anyone from stay cool feel free to contact me and I'll gladly send you pictures but I'm sure they knew it was a simple issue.

Stay Cool Air Conditioning & Heating Response • Oct 07, 2020

We have no record of you ever calling us for service, was the service call scheduled under a different name? Please call 18774COLDAC so we can investigate this matter.

Customer Response • Oct 08, 2020

I'm sure you don't because I refused to pay you due to the time I had to wait for a technician to arrive at my home for 5 mins of being there and not even trying to diagnose the issue at hand. All he was concerned about was selling a new A/C unit which wasn't needed.

Stay Cool Air Conditioning & Heating Response • Oct 10, 2020

Mr. any time a technician is dispatched to a home the address and customer name is added to our system. We do not have a *** in our system, if you could please call and ask to speak to Robert then I'm sure with your address I could find you in the system.
We take this very seriously and want more details so we can handle this appropriately. We do not tolerate technicians giving our customers a bad diagnosis and want to fix this problem. Please pick up the phone and call us so we can pay for the repair of your machine and let the tech that came to your house go. Thank you

It's *** not

Stay cool has been out to my house 6 times in the past 2 weeks -- they cant seem to get the job done right . My house TEMP has been running at 81 --84 degrees -- my AC unit has not shut off in 2 weeks . Did not have this problem until I let them touch it !!!! All I want is my old AC duct work back that was working before they started this job and my MONEY back -- A LOT OF MONEY !!!! My family has been suffering in a hot house and cant even get a good nights rest . lost time at work (more money lost ) . I am waiting on an owner to get in touch with me to resolve this HORRIFYING experience !!!! oh and I give this no stars but they are making me put one on to submit this complaint . thank you ---- Mrs. ----( PASCO COUNTY FLORIDA ) July 2 2020 !!!!!

Stay Cool Air Conditioning & Heating Response • Jul 06, 2020

As the owner of stay cool I was at the customers house on July the 3rd to look over the job. We did not install the air conditioning system but did install the duct work.

I am personally working with the home owner and scheduled to be at her home with help on July the 7th to fix any issues with the duct work as well as repairing the machine free that we did not install.

We are going above and beyond to rectify any problems with not only our work but the work of the other HVAC company

Customer Response • Jul 09, 2020

I would like to let the new and old customers know that Stay Cool have stuck behind their word ! They have gone above and beyond to correct the problems that I was having with my AC -- I have to say that every time I called the office someone did respond - We did have some bumps in the road but they really did fix what they said they would fix and more ! They never where disrespectful the employees where super nice and polite . So I end my experience with Stay Cool -- A happy customer !! ( Thank you to the owner for fixing it all ) !

These guys are rip offs. They are offering a special A/C check for $9.95. The serviceman came to my house and looked at the air handling unit and said it looked fine without checking temperatures or any other basic A/C checks. He then went to my A/C unit and removed the capacitor and said it was bad and would replace it for $270 and wrap some pipes for another $200. I told him to put the capacitor back and gave him $10 for the useless service call in cash. There is nothing defective with the capacitor. Don't let these guys in your home.. I can understand why they are not accredited with the Revdex.com and have a lot of complaints.. Should be a zero star rating..

StayCool double charged me for the second payment ($4200 x2 credit card). Refund NOT credited as promised. Three weeks of consistent calls/email.
After a fantastic new A/C installation at my residence end of May2020, StayCool double charged me for the second payment ($4200 x2). Been calling and emailing for three weeks without success. Provided proof of double charge to John in finance two weeks ago, promised it would be resolved same day, still hasn't happened. I am now carrying $4200 overcharge on my credit card now incurring interest charges. I've worked with Rebecca, Nicole, Lee and John to resolve without success. Please refund the overcharge today!

Desired Outcome

Refund the overcharge of $4198 today please.

Thank you for taking the time to give us a review. We look forward to serving you for many years to come.

Improper sales practices and faulty installing of new HVAC unit at my residence.
My 15 year old A/C broke down July 2019. I contacted Stay Cool for them to come out and take a look at it. I'd never done business with them before, but was desperate. A representative came out the next day (July 29th). He inspected everything and told me that my system was completely gone and also full of mold , that and I needed an entire new unit. (I know I should have gotten a second opinion, but, again, I was desperate and he seemed trustworthy). He told me that for $7000 they could install a new, top of the line unit, the next day. Obviously, I did not have $7000 just laying around, so he qualified my husband (over the phone) for a Fortiva loan in the amount of $6000, and I put down $1000. To this day I've not received an official itemized estimate that detailed all the things they were going to do. The installers came the next day to put up the unit. There were several discrepancies that I could not discuss with them as they did not speak English; the space where the unit was going onto was to be completely rebuild, and they did not do that. The install lasted pretty much all day and I had several back and forths with a company rep over the phone. Scheduling the inspection and getting the permit was a hassle because StayCool does not believe in thorough communication as I was beginning to find out. Finally, the inspector came and passed the unit and by mid August everything was taken care of, and I believed, that I now had a brand-new, clean, mold-free unit that I can depend on for at least the next 10 years. In January 2020, StayCool contacted me to set up a system check on 1/18/2020. The technician came out and was very personable. When he inspected the work and the unit he found all kinds of problems (loose wires on the outside unit, mold inside the inside unit, no ultraviolet light lamp installed). He also asked me if a duct cleaning was ever done because of the mold, and I told him that the sales person who sold me the system never said anything about the ducts needing to be cleaned. I also told him that I had assumed that the $7000.00 I paid would include everything needed to remedy everything that had been wrong with my old unit. The technician proceeded to tell me that I needed a thorough duct cleaning. I told him that I did not have the money for it and he proceeded to offer me a line of credit to pay for the duct work. He stated that it could be around $3000.00. I was devastated. I felt betrayed and taken. This is a technician who points out all of the negligence his own company committed?! He then also proceeded to tell me that the sales person, who sold me the unit is no longer with the company due to improper sales practices. The credit line he gave us was one of the worst in the business - according to the technician. Not knowing what else to do I agreed to get additional credit to pay for the duct cleaning, thinking that we've continously been breathing in the mold and mildew that was present in the unit. I was sick to my stomach. It never came to the duct cleaning because of an incident where I called the person who was supposed to set up the cleaning, but someone else picked up his phone and told me to call back, because "Harris was on the ***". I called the main line for the company and made them aware of the rude behavior, but nothing ever happened after that.
My husband and I are paying every month for an A/C system that is contaminated. I don't trust Stay Cool Air conditioning anymore to have them come out and "fix" what they did not do in the first place, but I also don't have any money to call another A/C company to have them tell me that I need to pay a lot more money to get the ducts cleaned and the mold out of my house. I'm embarrassed by my trust in this company and feel humiliated by the way they treated me.

Desired Outcome

I would like for a trustworthy AC technician to come and check the unit inside and out and tell me exactly what needs to be done to fix the problem. I have allergies and I'm constantly worried that the mold in the ducts and the unit will kill us. The problem is that I don't think that I can trust Stay Cool Air Conditioning anymore, as they have proven to prey on people's desperation (no A/C in July in Florida) and their intent to squeeze as much money out of the customer with the least amount of work possible. I've waited this long, because I thought, in the end they would do the right thing and correct their shoddy work, but to this day I have not heard from them. There was never an attempt to apologize or explain by their management.

We would like to send a field supervisor to your home to evaluate the condition of your HVAC system and the ducts. We are willing to help you and your family but have tried reaching you by phone several times with no success. Please call us immediately at 727-325-3554 and we will get some out immediately to analyze the situation and ultimately resolve any issues we can.

Customer Response • Jun 02, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I'm willing to give them another chance and will call them to set up an appointment with the field inspector. I will request that all findings will be listed in writing. No "off the record" answers and no high pressure sales or high APR financing schemes.

Would not recommend this company under ANY circumstances! We have been dealing with them since Sept. of 2019 and have had nothing but frustration. They do not return phone calls and totally ignore any issues.

tony said unit would run through attic, installed and wrapped around house looks like trailer now.installed by matt and alberto, great guys just doing what their told.after they left I noticed the terrible installation and called office .they made me send them pictures and said well send a man over to see problem.next week man come took pictures and said they would fix(which still is missing parts and not complete)two weeks after install stopped cooling,so ed stopped by and said short of coolant.two weeks later stopped working again so chris stopped by and said he would be back to do pressure test,he never returned matt and alberto did and reran copper pipes and found another leak.when I called office I talked to nichole who is about less than worthless, very rude and un professional said their not doing pressure test.not more than five minutes later matt and alberto were doing a pressure test.nichole had nerve to ask them why customer was mad ,so I let matt and alberto know I was mad at nicholes bad attitude and unprofessionalism.will never use this company again, and I started out going to put this system in all my units.I told nichole I needed justin or robert to call me or I would make complaint and neither one did.I don't think this company has its *** together and would strongly urge anyone wanting to install a unit to look elsewhere.

Desired Outcome

job needs to be done correctly,i don't care if parts were discontinued.if they were then don't bid a job already been there 7 times,I've had to wait and meet someone and spend my time while they try to fix the mess

We are in contact with the consumer and visited him yesterday to discuss his complaints and work together for his desired resolution. Thanks to the customer we have identified a problem within our company and are working diligently to correct it. I would like to thank Mr. for his time and willingness to allow us to make the experience better for him and his family.

Stay Cool technician Zach came to examine my air conditioner. He went up into the attic to check the air handler and vents in my small unit. He came downstairs and showed me pictures on his phone that he said was mold. Six days later, I had a mold expert come out and examined my vents and air handler and said he did not see a mold problem. What he did see was a leak coming from a pvc pipe that was disconnected and a flood up in my attic. I had to hire a contractor to fix the leak up in the attic and repair my ceiling in my bedroom which was about to drop. After calling Stay Cool and explained what happened Lee said she'd get a manager to call me back. Nicole called me back who said she was an air production manager, and told me she spoke to Zach and he denied going through my attic and showing me mold. I would not recommend this company to anyone. After that, I hired a recommended air conditioning service, which was a world of difference and he also said I did not have a mold issue!! Shocker.
