Steve's Plumbing Service Reviews (%countItem)

Gas Leak Response: We called Steve's Plumbing on a Friday, and they (Lyle and Audie)immediately responded to conduct an assessment on Saturday. Two technicians (Justin and Audie) arrived promptly on Sunday to remove and repair an underground gas line on the exterior of our condo complex. They periodically checked along the line and replacing two appliance valves to ensure everything was safe and properly installed. They explained every aspect of the job as it was accomplished and made sure to use the right fittings for each task. No delays, no short-cuts, no rushing to move on to the next job - they focused on the job and did it right the first time. I had the work reviewed by *** technician, who verified they did a great job. Full disclosure: The cost matched the quality and time for the job. Two techs on site for 12 hours ended up around $4,200. You get what you pay for, and I'm very pleased with the results which are guaranteed. If I have a pluming or gas problem in the future, Steve's Plumbing is the first company I will call.

Came right back n time. Clayton T was great. Very professional. Explained all the options for replacing kitchen faucet and leeaking hot water valves. Spent all day doing the job since the old faucet was frozen in place. Definitely will call them again for plumbing work.

I had Steves plumbing install my water heater in Feb. They also sold me a Ohana Plan 10 year plan, which consisted of having priority scheduling, no dispatch fees and other options. Their was no contract given to me, so I didn't know exactly what it entailed So on 8/21 I called to schedule to have my water filter changed, Asked the technician, Lance T and an assitant, what would it cost. He quoted me $46 to change filter, stating that I would be saving $100 by being in the Ohana Plan. After the job was done, which lasted about an 1 hour, he had me sign a i-pad verifying they completed the job. Lance had me sign to boxes, which I thought wasn't right. I assumed it was for the $46 dollars he quoted me. So when they emailed the invoice and it was for $393. If I knew it was going to cost that much to change the filter I would have not accepted the job. $393 to change a water filter come on. Had to go to office and asked about the bill in question and also they said we had to request for a copy of contract for the Ohana Plan, but she said earlier it should have been emailed to me. Never do business with them AGAIN!!!!!

Hello,

We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with our service. We did email a copy of the invoice on both services as soon as service was completed. We do offer upfront pricing and provide every customer with pricing and a signature prior to starting any work. You did acknowledge the work before we started our service on 08/21/18. We did adjust your invoice and applied a discount of 20% toward your credit card as a courtesy. We are also willing to credit back the 10-Year Ohana Club Membership purchased because we do value you as our customer and appreciate your continued business with our company.

Thank you,
Rachel

Martin is a great asset for your company.

Thank you, ***! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us! We too agree that Martin is an exceptional technician! We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and look forward to working with you again in the future!

Service was well done and prompt. My two star rating is for the price. A 45 min job cost $500 with the part costing approximately $100. Unfortunately I needed the work done so I had to pay. There are not a pay by hour company. The use an app to give estimate. The high to fix my issue was $1700 and low was $507 which is "Band Aide" fix according them. I guess just replacing the only
Part that was broken isn't a good enough Fix and they want to up-sell customers. I asked two times for a non binding estimate over the phone and was told the technician would give an in-person estimate only. The tech got here we discussed my issue and immediately had an estimate on his tablet. The estimate was for Repair of the exact problem I told them. The process of trying to up-sell me and testing after the repair took longer than the actual repair.
Buyers beware!!! Shop around for other affordable plumbers.
After I left the review Rachel had me contact her to discuss my concerns. I emailed her a detailed account to what happen and is it was over the weekend she needed to talk to her service manager to review the invoice and provide a resolution on Monday. It's now Tuesday evening and phone tag has taken place and no resolution has been addressed.

Aloha ***,
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with our price and apologize for missing your call. As I stated in my email that was sent to you on 8/15/18, I was able to have my Service Manager review the work that was completed at your home and the price provided to you was justified based on the work and material cost involved.
Our technician was able to complete all the work at your home fast and efficiently. We provided you with upfront flat rate pricing prior to starting the work so there were no surprises. Our technician was also able to apply a coupon discount in the amount of $41.00 off for you as well. We also extended to you a courtesy discount of an additional 10% off your total services because we value you as our customer and understand your concerns.

Approximately a month ago, I called to obtain an estimate for plumbing issues. I was never informed that there was a charge nor agreed to pay for obtaining an estimate. Today, I received a billing from the company for providing an estimate. Again, the representative never informed me for being charged for the service.

We will be sure this does not happen again in the future. We do value you as our customer and truly apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Thank you,

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

Beware of this plumbing service and double check your visa charges. I found out that they charged my credit card $81.91 without my permission. They stated it was taxes they did not charge me but I don not have a receipt of this charge. But it's on their receipts! Also, they build a FAKE receipt and sent it to me with my signature but I don't have any knowledge or a copy of that receipt. The receipt was for refund of the Ohana Membership which I had no knowledge or receipt of. They damaged my home and paid me the damaging cost of my granite which they damage while doing a service. So, they built a FAKE receipt which they stated it was a refund for the Ohana Membership. I paid for the Ohana Membership for 5 years and according to the contract they should do inspections on all the plumbing in my home. It's been 2 years and no one has come to my home. And I also spent over $3000.00 and had 1 year inspection and 2 year labor checks but know one came or called to inspect. I requested a refund for the Ohana Membership they agreed but it will be prorated with the 2 years taking off although they never followed their contract on inspections or checks. The owner Steve states on their website "It's done right, we make it, right or it's free." In my case it was done wrong, it's still wrong and I loss. So, BEWARE and double check your receipts and charges! Also, get a copy of their receipts because it's not the same as the receipts you have!

Hello ***,
We have made a number of attempts to contact you about this matter with no return call or email. Please call us right away so we can address your concerns. Our system does not allow us to charge any credit cards without your signature of approval first which we had. Your $81.91 charge was for the tax on the job that you had us perform that was not charged up front. We cant make charges without your approval and we also have your signature agreeing to the prices that we charged and our system does not let us charge more than the invoice amount.
Please give us a call so we can get this addressed right away.
Thank you

I called Steve's Plumbing service and I was given an appointment approximately 3-4 days later. Upon the plumbers' arrival I was greeted and they seemed incredibly professional. I told them that I was going out of the country the next day and was looking to get the problem fixed before I left (took some time between me and the property manager to figure out if it was a building problem or mine).
The job in my apartment initially did not seem easy. There was a leak behind the cabinetry, behind the water heater and behind some sheet rock. I was initially quoted nearly $2500 to "demo" (demolish) the cabinetry with no guarantee that the kitchen counter top and cabinets would not be destroyed or damaged. I then asked the plumbers why it was so much, and they stated because they would have to remove and potentially put the cabinets/counter top back together. I them commented on the fact that if they are not able to save the counter tops, then there is no point in paying them to remove it. I told them I could just run to ***, pick up a sledgehammer and Mjolnir the hell out of the cabinets like Thor does to Hulks face in Ragnarok. I was then quoted 400-500 to go into the wall to fix the pipe and 1500 to reinstall the water heater. While he was explaining this to me, I wrote this in the notes on my phone and thought that I would have to sell either my arm, leg or some sort of bodily organ just to fix a leak in my place.
I then called the property manager and the manager explained that if the cabinets are the original cabinets from when the building was built, then they should just come off of the wall/other cabinets like legos. I was then quoted roughly $1600 including parts(not including tax) and at that point I felt like I was forced to do the job because I had to get it done before I left the country. In addition, I figured losing an arm would be better than losing all of my other body parts to pay for this job. With a little bit of cutting of liquid nails down the center of the connected cabinets and the wall, and removal of about 7-8 screws, the cabinetry popped out. And I helped the plumbers with this due to the weight of the cabinetry.
Following this, the plumbers drained the small water heater's contents into the tub and removed the water heater. The sheet rock was already wet and a bit moldy, so it crumbled out easy for access to the line. The original cast iron pipe had about a 2 inch hole in it. The plumbers then left for approximately 1.5-2 hours to get lunch and a couple of parts that they did not have on them. They later came back and fixed the leak.
The total amount of hours spent on the job, roughly 5 hours. The amount of money I paid for the job (even after that $40ish dollar coupon from their website) was nearly $1700. If they replaced my pipes and they were made out of gold, I can imagine the cost. But for the most part the replacements were mostly plastic PVC. Other than fixing the leak and being friendly, the only other positive about the day is I earned nearly 1700 miles on my *** card (joy...).
Following this, I asked around to my friends about similar plumbing jobs that they had done, and they were appalled to hear that I spent nearly $1700 on a plumber for 5 hours of work. I was still somewhat concerned that I was over charged, so I contacted steve's plumbing and exchanged some e-mails for a a couple of weeks of back and forth with Chris from Steve's plumbing. Per Chris, " The price you paid for level of services we provided are fair. I have reviewed the job and scope of completed work. It is always risky when removing cabinetry and Formica countertops and I was happy to see that our technician was able to complete your needed repairs in a timely manner without additional cabinet or countertop replacement. We also had to drain down and remove water heater then reinstall after we made the repairs to failed drain." So, no adjustment and the nearly $1700 that I paid was "fair".
All in all, I feel as though I was ripped off. If it was a difficult, two-three day job where the cabinets and to be pieced back together one by one, and the piping was made of precious metal, I could see the cost as being justified. But I feel as though I was taken advantage of due to the timing of the issue and the fact that they quoted me an exorbitant price to begin with then watered it down to make their quote seem more fair (of which, it is not). To add icing on the cake, Chris found it difficult to understand that I was out of the country and apparently could not answer many questions via e-mail. I had to follow up with him after a week of no response to my latest e-mail over a week ago to this day. The plumbers were great, they fixed the problem. Hopefully it stays fixed. But I think they quoted me too much for the job.
I will NOT be contacting Steve's plumbing in the future due to their customer service and prices.
