To whom it may immediately concern, let us start by acknowledging any complaints brought against SLFA are reviewed with dedication and commitment to being fair and honorable. This matter has been under our internal review process. We are attempting to get in contact with you regarding this matter. Repeated attempts have been made to get into contact with you. Please contact our customer service department as soon as possible.

I received a call from SLFA stating that I qualified for financial assistance with my student loans and I would be eligible to pay $0.00 a month as long as I made three payments of $175.00 for 3 months. After a few months, I received a bill from FedLoan for $358.00. I called and that's when I found out I had been scammed by this third party buisness. They said I had 4 kids (I have none) and I did not have a job. I have been employed full time all of my life. The money I was paying this 3rd party did not go towards my student loan debt.

To whom it may concern, we would like to acknowledge, all complaints brought against SLFA are reviewed with a moral commitment to fairness. Mr. signed up with SLFA for assistance with completing applications related to student loans. By doing so Mr. agreed to the payments for Company’s services relating to the student loan assistance applications, their preparation, delivery and ongoing support. All of the applications have specific requirements including but not limited to proof of income. All quoted figures are projected via an online calculator specific to student loan repayment based on provided income and family size information. The applications necessary in Mr. case are related to the renewal of his then current repayment situation. The application completed during Mr.’s enrollment call was submitted along with the proof of income documents Mr. provided. The application submitted did indeed indicate Mr. had taxable income which is why the proof of income was required. This is the first time we are being notified of a full refund request. We would be able to honor a refund now that we are aware it is being requested.

Christian was AMAZING! I was really confused on how the student loan forgiveness program worked and he took me step by step through the process until I had a full understanding of it. He was patient, kind, and fully attentive the entire call. One of the best agents I’ve had in a while.

I am writing to you regarding your unsolicited communication to my cell phone *** from your company for marketing purposes. The communication was unwanted and was made without my express invitation, permission or consent.

As you are or should be aware, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act ( “TCPA”) makes it illegal to solicit sales to cellular devices, via call or text message
I had a communication by email with Mr Brent *. P about this violations but were not able to settle I keep sending emails to him but not response.

To whom it may concern,

We carefully review all complaints generated against SLFA with utmost attentiveness. Our intention with this response is to aid in bringing this complaint to a reasonable resolution for all parties. The current method of operation used by SLFA does NOT include “cold calling” unexpecting individuals. We respond to people who have displayed interest in receiving information. Many people request this information in various formats, all of which require someone to provide their contact information. When SLFA learns an individual should not have received such a call. All communication is respectfully terminated. Even though SLFA has vigilant procedures to screen and excluded DNC numbers, some numbers may get through that shouldn't. For this we do apologize. The complaint mentions some communication with a Mr. Brent *. P. SLFA does not employ any person by that name. Based on this complaint it is understood Ms. wishes to not be contacted. We hope Ms. can understand SLFA had no intention to be intrusive or reach out unwarranted.

Kindest Regards,

Sharon M

I do not accept this response ,Mr P is the attorney that represent SLFA in our communication is also copy *** and *** they had read and forward my messages as well. As of now I had not received any proof from showing I opted in or requested such information and authorized to call me. Please note that I submited a copy of the statement of claim to MR. p that I will file to court tomorrow.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Feb 05, 2020

After reviewing with our legal team, it is clear Mr.P*** is a 3rd party legal affiliate of SLFA. Mr.P*** is currently involved with material relating to an ongoing claim for settlement. Any further information regarding this claim for settlement will be handled by our legal team.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Apr 02, 2020

That employee has been terminated and their email is no longer active. We are not aware of these calls and we apologize for the delay in response. We have confirmed your phone number has been placed on the Do Not Call list.

I was illegally called by people representing your company and all of my emails to you have gone unanswered. I have also tried calling, but my number was blocked after the first time I called and was hung up on. I need to be contacted about my grievances. I can see from your other complaints that your defense is to claim you don't know the person's number is on the DNC list. You are required, by law, to scrub your call lists against the DNC list every 30 days. I have been on it since 2011, so that won't fly with me.

I do not have student loans, so how am I not a cold call?

And everything said in the email isn't true. Please contact me at

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Feb 05, 2020

To whom it may concern, even though SLFA has vigilant procedures to screen and excluded DNC numbers, some numbers may get through that shouldn't based on human errors outside of our company. We understand this can be inconvenient and intrusive. For that we do apologize. We are aware Mr. is requesting to be contacted via phone however, the phone number Mr. provided has 12 digits “Please contact me at ***” . We are happy to reach out to Mr. per his request. We would need a valid contact number to complete his request.

Customer Response • Feb 07, 2020

my number is ***

Numbers slipping through the cracks is still against the law. And judging by your online presence, A LOT of numbers slip through the cracks. But none of that matters when I have been on the DNC list since 2011. If you scrub your lists every days as required by law, how would I show up now? I don't even have any student loans.

This company is a sham. They over drafted my account because they processed a payment without my approval. Then I was advised the refund entered and I would have it in 7 to 10 business days . I called 6 business day later and was then advised it was being mailed and would take 2 to 3 weeks.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Jan 27, 2020

Customers payment was already processing by the time she had called into retract the payment. A refund was issued within our standard refund policy that the customer signed.

The team is great here - very helpful and informative! Both Malika and Christian C. took time to get all of my questions answered. Malika walked me through the initial intake and information and Christian took it from there in customer support with what to expect next, the time line, and answered all of my follow up questions. Very professional and knowledgeable, and I can tell from my experience that the customer is first priority. Thank you!

Thank you for your positive feedback.

I have been paying money to a company name SLFA since April 2019, for student loans. After speaking Us Dept of Education non the payments collected were going towards my student loans. I would like to have my money back..

By doing so Ms. agreed with the payment for Company’s services relating to the student loan assistance applications, their preparation, delivery to Client and ongoing support. All of the applications have specific requirements including but not limited to proof of income. After numerous attempts requesting proof of income from Ms.. SLFA has still not received the necessary proof of income documents to get these apps approved. By submitting the application completed during Ms.’s enrollment call the consolidation application was denied due to lack of proof of income. As mentioned several attempts to obtain the POI were unacknowledged by Ms.. The funds Ms. paid to SLFA are still in her dedicated client account pending the completion of services. This is the first time we are being notified of a full refund request. We would be able to honor a refund now that we are aware it is being requested. If Ms. would like to provide her proof of income (2 pay stubs from within the last 60 days). We can complete the services she signed up for.

Fraudulent business. Student loan forgiveness scam. Wife created an account with SLFA to consolidate her loans, with a promise of loan forgiveness - she works for a non-profit, and SLFA promised loan forgiveness after 10 years.

There is no way to log in to her SLFA.us account online, and I have been on the phone with customer support for over an hour. Absolutely no presence online other than website. Many others have filed a complaint.

She needs to have this account cancelled and be refunded her payments to SLFA.us.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Feb 04, 2020

we responded to *** already he still hasn't told us who his spouse is (the client) , to even give a refund we need to know who the client is.To whom it may immediately concern, Let us start by acknowledging, any complaints brought against SLFA are reviewed with dedication and commitment to being fair and honorable. Multiple attempts to contact Mr. followed the initial complaint, these attempts except for one have been unsuccessful. The one-time Mr. answered the phone. He was busy and placed the call on hold. Then the call dropped while on hold. We've since been able to get in touch with Mr.. The complaint in this matter is regarding ***'s wife. We're still unsure which particular file in our system belongs to his Spouse. If a refund is due, it could not take place because we're not sure exactly who the specific client he is. Only Mr. name is mentioned in the complaint. We ask that Mr. reach out to us as soon as possible at ***. To provide his wives name. Then we can review the exact account and see what corrections need to take place. Whether we are moving forward or refunding and closing the account.

Oh man. Boy was I scared to ask if they could push my payments out for me. But guess what? They could! So glad I spoke to Jermane C. The conversation was quick and he had me feeling great after that call. Very glad he answered the phone or else I’d be without Christmas and food again. I told him my story and he didn’t brush me to the side. Can’t wait to start paying my loans off in January. 2020 will start off just right!

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Jan 27, 2020

Thank you for your positive feedback. We value all of our clients and are here to help where we can.

The referenced company placed a call to my cell phone on 12/9/2019 at 4:26 PM central using automated dialing technology. Upon answering, an automated message was played that contained information regarding reducing my student loan debit. My call appeared to be placed into a call queue and was then handled by representative.

In speaking with the representative, Adam H, I was told the company name was Student Loan Financial Assistance and the phone number was ***.

The use of automated dialing technology for marketing purposes is prohibited by federal TCPA laws including 47 U.S.C. § 227(b)(1)(A)(iii) and 47 U.S.C. § 227(b)(3).

I have attempted to contact their registered agent to begin the settlement process for willful violation of TCPA by using a robo-dialer to contact me on my cell phone, without written consent. For the record, my cell phone was registered on the federal do not call (DNC) list 2/16/2007.

This company has failed to acknowledge and respond to my complaint. They also have a documented history of willful violation of
federal law. Based on my research, they try to avoid liability by using a 3rd party for outbound call purposes. Recent case law (***) shows they are responsible for the actions of their 3rd party. To URL for the full decision is ***.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Dec 19, 2019

SLFA's Legal Team has been notified of this complaint. SLFA does not do its own marketing, as a Third-Party company assumes all responsibility for any telemarketing. A representative from either the Third-Party company or SLFA's Legal Team will reach out to handle all related to this matter.

Customer Response • Dec 19, 2019

As stated in my original complaint, recent case law (***) indicates the company is responsible for the actions of their third-party vendors. This is a documented tactic, used by SLFA, to attempt to skirt federal law by placing liability on their contractor. Use of a third-party does not absolve SLFA from oversight and responsibility of their vendors. SLFA, at a minimum, has vicarious liability for any third-party contractor or vendor.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Feb 06, 2020

To whom it may concern,

After reviewing with our legal team, It was previously decided by both parties to settle with Scott *** to stop all harassment and claims for an undisclosed amount. Neither the agreement nor the negotiations leading up to the agreement, shall be taken to be an admission of any kind by any Party. SLFA shall continue to deny such liability or wrongdoing and continue to disclaim such responsibility. The Parties intend that this Agreement shall be full and final settlement of and bar to any and all claims. Per the settlement agreement we have deemed this complaint and the matter resolved.

It is mentioned in the signed settlement that Mr. is no longer able to further accuse SLFA of these claims, and is breaching a settlement agreement he agreed upon.

Kind Regards,

Sharon M.

On November 4, 2019, I receive a call from this company (Student Loan Financial Services) saying that I would qualify for loan forgiveness after 10 years or so. They told me that for the months of November, December, and January, I would pay $177 to the company, then it would drop down to only $19 afterwards for the remainder of the year. The customer rep that I was consulting with really wanted my information such as my SS# and bank information. I did not know that this was a scam until I got an email from another company expressing that this was a third party and they are not affiliated with the Dept. of Ed. I feel like a complete it for not paying better attention to this. I was just really worried that my time for payment was approaching and they happened to call around the same time I got a letter from my loan company about starting my payments. I have called the company multiple times to speak to a representative so I can talk about my contract but I am getting no answers at all. I even tried to look in my email for a copy of the contract. If there is anything you guys can do, could you please help?

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Nov 26, 2019

Dear ***,We would like to apologize for the way that you feel towards our company. We would like to start by stating we are very upfront about the fact that we are a third part company. The very first question on the recorded compliance script that is read to you by every agent states “Do you understand that we are not the Government nor Department of Education or the servicer of your student loans.” All of your information that is gathered from our representatives is necessary for the completion of your enrollment and is used for nothing else. After the recorded compliance call you are also sent a Docu sign that you also signed stating on the very first page “ We are a private company not affiliated with the Department of Education.” Once this document is signed a copy is then sent directly to your email. In an attempt to rectify your experience with our company I personally reached out to you in order to offer a full refund of the $177.00 that you paid but you choose to decline the refund. Please let us know how else you would like us to resolve this complaint.Thank you,James MCustomer Support

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. In addition, none of that was told to me because I spoke with another worker named Oren. I will gladly take the refund, but I will also gladly accept a cancellation in the contract. You guys were supposed to send a copy of the contract and you all never did. I also want to mention that I called FOUR times last week, but I got a call yesterday saying you’ve been sick all week?

Regards

I have student loans through the Federal Government and was contacted by an individual through Student Loan Financial Assistant. I am still receiving notifications from the Federal Student Loans about being 34 days past due. SLFA has not notified them of the change and it's effecting my credit showing as late. When I call SLFA I get not answer and when looking at my website account the payment they took out last month is not posting. I am not receiving any call backs and was assured last month it was taken care of. My Federal Loan individual states that they are the only one that offers income driven assistance. I am at a loss with what do do and how to stop them from taking funds out of my account so I can catch up one my Fed loans.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Dec 19, 2019

o whom it may concern,
Let us start by saying, all complaints brought against SLFA are reviewed with utmost diligence. our intention with this response is to aid in bringing this complaint to a fair resolution for all parties.
The professional relationship with *** began 10/07/2019. Ms. had made a payment to her current servicing company on 09/20/2019. As explained to Ms. her servicing account was kept current via forbearance effective 10/01/2019 valid through 02/19/2020. There is no negative credit reporting at this time. The servicing companies must wait until a payment is 90 days past due before negative reporting can be made to any credit bureau. Which is still the current status for the account with documents currently processing to update her repayment terms. As for the lack of communication we would like to make sure Ms. has the correct contact info. SLFA has a dedicated customer service department available from 7am - 4pm pacific standard time. We do understand that we can have extended hold times and for that we apologize. SLFA strives to put our clients needs at the forefront of our priorities. We sincerely apologise if your customer service experience was not satisfactory. We have added additional staff members to assist with the influx of calls. The complaint mentioned payments not posting to our site. The client portal is only intended to provide general information as well as a progress tracker. In closing we would like to go over the fact that as of 10/01/2019 to current, Ms. serving account is not past due, no payments are due and no negative reporting has occurred .
--AbhiS***SeniorLoanSpecialistSLFA

I was contacted by Student Loan Services and told that my best interest would be to consolidate my student loans. I was told that in order to do this my first 3 months of payments would be $300, then would drop to $24, but that all of this would be applied towards my loan. This was not the case. They took 2 payments of $300, before I was able to figure out that these payments were not applied towards my loan and I called to cancel. I was told they would refund the money, since I was misled. I called again today, and they said they are not going to refund my money.

Please allow us to acknowledge, based on company’s services relating to the student loan assistance applications, their preparation. Your account is currently in the proper repayment program making positive forward progress. SFLA will follow up with you via telephone to assist in bringing this issue to a resolution.

This company is a scam! I spoke to Federal Student Aid (FSA) and Nelnet, to which both government student aids informed me that this a 3rd party servicer and a scam. They will pocket your money and still leave your loans unpaid. Be careful with them, because within the first call they will ask for your bank information and social security number, which FSA and the FTC noted that these are MAJOR red flags and that no re-finance/student aid company would ever do this over the phone. When I spoke to the SLFA customer services and told them to stop my application the guy asked for the reason and I said I spoke to FSA and Nelnet agents and they told me to cancel the application immediately, to which the SFLA customer service agent smugly chuckled and said, "Yea, I'm sure they did."

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Feb 26, 2020

To whom it may immediately concern, let us start by acknowledging any complaints brought against SLFA are reviewed with dedication and commitment to being fair and honorable. All clients are informed of our standing as a firm dedicated to document and preparation services with our main objectives being education and enrollment of borrowers in need of improved and more desirable repayment options. All services are offered with absolute transparency as we guide borrowers through the process of obtaining improved financial options.

Scam artists. They do not work with or alongside Federal Student Aid though they pose as such. They quote the terminology to get your money. They use illegal business practices by resetting your account and using your temporary password to gain access to private personal data. They make you sign a limited power of attorney (which you should NEVER sign unless that person is related to you and you're on your death bed). Their full name isn't even on the contract. They have a clause in their contract that states you can notify them to cancel the transaction within three days by mail, but the address on the contract is NOT their address, which is illegal. They run away with your private info. Report them to the FTC immediately and change/freeze your personal info. Ruthless crooks and lowlives. Do not under any circumstance believe what they say. My loan provider also informed me that it was a scam. Read the warnings on the FSA's and your loan provider's website. I hope this helps someone avoid being stolen from.

I canceled and closed my account with ease thanks to their friendly manager Anthony. Money was paid to them and completed by my bank, I received the runaround soon after stating my money was NEVER received. A senior advisor Mark and his other nameless colleague were very rude and short with me when trying to resolve this issue. Only trust Anthony if dealing with this pathetic excuse of an organization

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Oct 26, 2019

We do apologize for any inconveniences and misunderstandings! Our goal is to help with your financial situation, and not to make it worse.
I believe a misunderstanding occurred regarding how payments process. The money may have left your financial institution, but it takes a few days for us to receive it. Only then are we able to return your payment. Still, this does not excuse what you experienced with one of our senior advisors. Be assured that he has been reprimanded to make sure this experience does not occur with anybody else. We have also told Anthony about you experience, and he’s glad that he could be of assistance but was also sorry to hear you were unhappy with how his fellow coworkers handled the situation.

I was contacted back in March of 2019 to get help with my student loan because my wages were being garnished. In this agreement I was to pay $99 every 2 weeks for 3 months and then a $5 rehab fee once a month which is being done as of August. After 5 months which was the end of August my garnishment was to stop. I have paid my fees for help with my student loan and my wages were have suppose to have stopped at the end of August. They are still being garnished. I contacted this company about my wages still being garnished the fist week of September. I was told someone didnt send my agreement papers in and that they were now sending them. September 20th I phoned them again and they said once again they would resend the paper work in because the loan place said they never received them. September 27th I called them again and they told me that the loan company acts like they dont receive paperwork in order to keep taking money from and that they would send in the paperwork for the third time and if that didnt work then they would file a complaint for me. So on October 11th I called them again and asked whats going on. They told me they would have a default specialist look at my case and call me. I have called them every day since then and no one will return my call or speak to me. They keep giving me the run around. they say someone will call me with in 5 minutes or just leave me on hold

I am on the do national do not call list and should not have been contacted, this is a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Nov 15, 2019

Our legal department has forwarded the contact of our third party marketing firm. We do none of our own marketing, but rather outsource the work to a third party company. Our marketing firm has advised us that Dorothy has yet to contact them, but has ensured that if any violations occurred, they will rectify the situation. We have also done our diligence and requested the firm on behalf of the client to remove her number off of any lists she may be on, so she does not receive any further phone calls. Any further complaints can be redirected to the marketing firm, but we are more than happy to assist tehe situation in any way possible.

Customer Response • Nov 15, 2019

Sorry, but using an outside marketing firm does not absolve you from liability, SLFA hired them to market for SLFA, you are still responsible.

Student Loan Financial Assistance Response • Nov 19, 2019

Our third party marketing firm is assuring us that any contact that may have been initiated to Ms. was done so compliantly as they only call out to people who filled out an opt in lead form. We have provided our marketing firms contact information, and any disputes can be taken up against them. Again, they are still waiting for your correspondence in order to process your request. SLFA does not control any of its marketing as all of it is done through a hired third party company. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences, but for these matters to move forward, Ms. must kindly contact the marketing firm we have provided to her.

Customer Response • Nov 19, 2019

Sorry, but you continue to lay blame on a foreign company in Mexico, who was hired by your company to market on your behalf, that does not relieve SLFA from liability, I attached the FCC rulings on that read it.

Spoke with Ariel y*** and she was friendly and helpful with rescheduling my payment.
