Student Loan Relief Group Reviews (44)

After reviewing the original call, it was never said that interest doesn't accrue on the callIt is common knowledge that until any student loan is paid off (some/all) interest is always accruing to some degreeThis client was never told that the government would pay a portion of the payment In an IBR program the government does cover the unpaid interesting on subsidized loans for up to yearsThat may have been what the client misinterpretedThe rectification processes is a much easier process than the original consolidationIt's always a clients personal choice to either try to do the work on their own for no charge or pay a document preparation cost to have a trained professional do itThe consultant did say you can do this process on your own just like someone can file/process their own taxes without paying a tax preparer (this information is also clearly spelled out in the original document preparation agreement the client would have signed.) This is a service that does typically take 60-days of work to complete

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

The affiliated Docuprep Express has agreed to refund my money, and the person I spoke with was very professional in resolving my issue.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[All information required was given to the student loan company on 2/28/14, this is approximately 180 days before the application was submitted.  The application submitted to my loan provider was blank and did not contain any of the information that I had submitted on two separate occasions to the loan servicing company.  In addition, I submitted a formal request to this company in writing on August 12.  They did not respond to my request for a refund or offer any communication.  The loan company contacted me for more information for the blank application that was submitted on 8/26.  Also, this was not a consolidation and the response that was given indicates that the records were not fully reviewed before they submitted it here.  I am attaching the copy of the letter in this complaint, see below:

To Whom It May Concern:
I employed the Student Loan Servicing
Center to help move my loans from a standard repayment option to an income
based repayment option on Jan. 31, 2014.
I submitted all documents that I was informed of.  These included: a limited power of attorney notarized,
a proof of income pay stub, an alternative documentation of income form,
references and last year’s tax return.
In exchange I agreed to a payment of $233/month for 3 months.  After submitting the documentation I received
an email requesting that I send the documentation in.  I submitted it a second time, verified
receipt of the documents via telephone and waited to hear the outcome of the
application.  I did not get any
notification from the loan holder or the loan relief group.
The student loan center did submit a
forbearance request on my loans that were with Nelnet at the time.  However, after that there was no more action
performed on my behalf by the Student Loan Servicing Center.  I called in April to follow up on the status
of the loans because the forbearance was coming to an end and I had been told
that it could take up to 90 days to get my loans processed.  At this time I was told that everything was
going as planned and that the income based repayment application was being processed.  I received no further information or
correspondence from the student loan center.
The forbearance came due and I called again to get a second forbearance
processed so that my loans would not go into default during the time that the
application was being processed.  Again,
I was reassured by the call center that everything was progressing and that I
did not need to take any further action.
Finally, I called the Student Loan Servicing Center in July to speak
with a representative because I had received no correspondence from Nelnet, the
Student Loan Servicing Center or any other agency regarding the status of my
Income Based Repayment (IBR) application.
I was told that I needed to submit my documentation to them (this would
be the third time) and that they never received it.  I was also told that my loans would be
serviced by Nelnet.  I proceeded to call
Nelnet who had no information on my income based repayment application.  At this time I was informed that I had the
standard repayment plan with Nelnet that would be due in September after my
forbearance was over.  When I asked the
representatives to check and see if there was an IBR application on file they
found a blank application that had no other information attached.]

We have made attempts to
call/leave messages for the client in regards to giving a refund and also
waiting on client to  complete release of
liability form.

Thy can contact [redacted] at ###-###-####

I was contacted by Student Loan Relief Group about student loan forgiveness plans. I spoke with [redacted] a sales representative. She informed me of an income based repayment option. She told me what I would be charged for the service and that the Gov. would be paying the rest of my minimum monthly payment after it was determined what I was responsible. She also told me that my loans would not go into deferment but default while this process was taking place and also that interest would not occur. I asked specifically if this was a program I would be able to obtain myself. She informed that it was not and you needed to go through companies as such to be eligible. This company sold me the service. The service that was second in this process. They are responsible for the misinformation and also selling me a faulty service. I was told I had to file this paperwork ASAP therefore rushing me on purpose so I would not read the fine print. I contacted [redacted] after I realized I had been ripped off. I contacted her because when I went to renew my application I was told there would be a surcharge of $100 when [redacted] told me I would never have to pay anything again. I was mislead and ripped off by this company. I am a struggling college graduate and I would have rather paid my minimum and use the $500 I paid for this service I could obtain myself towards my principle balance.

There is a disconnect here because the processing department is out of business( an entity known as student loan servicing center) and the student loan relief group isn't honoring their claims. I believe that there is a scam involved here and want in writing that student loan relief group will
honor their obligations. Mr [redacted] claims that their processing dept sent me refund letter via email which was done under the guise of student loan servicing center. Therefore this company, which is now out of business, isn't sending me anything and Mr [redacted] isn't replying to my queries on whether I need to fill out another release from solely the student loan relief group and not the one I sent on July 29. Ambiguities piled one atop the other are the only answers I keep receiving.

We have tried a few times to reach out to this client both by email and phone. The client may also contact me directly if need be. We are open to fixing/addressing and making this right with the client anyway we can!

The reason we knew the client signed with [redacted] is because the client stated that she called them in the original complaint. See below: Date Sent: 9/1/2015 9:29:09 PMI was contacted by Student Loan Relief Group about student loan forgiveness plans. I spoke with [redacted] a sales representative. She informed me of an income based repayment option. I contacted [redacted] originally about this matter and they said that Student Loan Relief group is responsible for they sold me the service. [redacted] spoke to me as if I was insane. I wrote down word for word what she told me about the program the first yume wr talked and it was all faulty. [redacted] informed me that my call was recorded and she could replay it to prove she informed me of everything. If that is true and the call was recorded anyone could listen to it and hear that she most definitely did not give me correct informtion and indeed scammed me. SLRG simply referred this client to DocuPrep [redacted] to perform the document prep/consolidation work. This client should be redirecting their compliant to the appropriate party. Everything should have been spelled out and in full detail on the agreement she signed with [redacted]. Contact info and address should be This client is not a client of SLRG they are a client of [redacted]. I hope this helps clear up any confusion thanks in advance.

Total Misrepresentation!!!
I was extremely hesitant about giving them any information but they were very convincing. I spent at least an hour on the phone with them the first time. They told me I would be making a very small ($30) payment every month and the actual amount of my loan would be forgiven.
I know I know - if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
I worked them for a couple of weeks and even faxed some documents to them only to have them tell me I was denied - after they had guaranteed me I was approved. I am SOOO upset with myself for believing them. What a scam!

We have tried to reach out to client to resolve this complaint. Please have client call [redacted] if they are seeking resolution at [redacted] Ext [redacted]

Iwould like my complaint sent to the business bc it needs to be posted on Revdex.com so people know this is a scam!!!!

Complaint for [redacted]: complaint #[redacted]

After researching this complaint it appears the client signed a document preparation agreement with [redacted] in [redacted].  The phone number is [redacted], they are servicing the client and that is who the client made payments to.  That would be the company the complaint should be redirected to as well as where she could potentially get a refund.

I don't necessarily consider this resolved, but as I'm working with the business to rehab my loans, I feel this is my only option. I'm not asking for a full refund, just a partial refund. I also think it is important to note that the only attempts to contact me for information, were via phone calls to an incorrect number, despite having my valid email address and not making any attempts to contact me that way. When this was brought to their attention, it was brushed off. I felt bullied on the email I received requesting further information from me after I had submitted this complaint. I understand that I got myself into this situation with my lender, but there were circumstances which led to that, and I shouldn't have to feel judged or berated by the company that I have paid to help me get it sorted out. Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution. I understand that I have a responsibility to pay my loans back, and I fully intend to do so (I've actually been doing so for the past 4 months), and that most likely I won't be getting any of my money back, but I appreciate the opportunity to state my case.

From what I see  processing shows that her docs were submitted to Nelnet on
8/26/2014 for the consolidation. In regards to interest accruing in forbearance that has to with the department of...

education. The client always has the option to make a full or partial payment while the consolidation is being complete to avoid accrued interest. In regards to how long a consolidation takes it's now about a 4 month process from (front to back) due to the DOE being back logged. We have no control how fast the DOE moves or get's items proceeded. However everything was submitted already. [redacted] will being getting a follow up call from a processor to address any other concerns either today or tomorrow. Any further questions let me know thanks. We want to take every measure to make sure we satisfy this client.

I signed up for the Student Debt (StuDebt) last year in April. They were in contact with me every month making sure that I made my initial payments. Once I paid them over $600 to sign up, they quit communicating with me. I went on vacation. I called them every day to try and get the remaining documents for processing. I would call and email the person whom was supposedly working my case; never got an answer. If I called and pretended that I was new and wanted to sign up, In would reach a live person. Once that person found out that I was already a customer, they would quickly forward me to the agent who is supposed to be helping me (which means I only got a voicemail). Two weeks later, I finally got a guy on the phone. This agent was sooo nasty & rude to me. He told me "you paid yo money and we did our part, soo...". The agent refused to connect me to a mgr and he also hung up on me. I called and called again, only to get no answer. It was now August. I called once again and DEMANDED that I speak to someone. The mgr called me hours later to say that my case worker had been out sick all summer and people were just getting caught up on his workload. The mgr promised that someone would call me that night to smooth out the rest of the details. No one called me. At that point, I went to my bank and had a stop payment put on my account and I had them flagged for fraudulent activities. I had let this whole situation go, citing a life lesson learned. But they have started to harass me now. They have sent several emails saying they can't get payment and that I failed to send in certain documents-the same documents that I called and attempted to get help filling out like they said to do. I feel threatened by their contact. I do not respond to them nor do I answer their calls. I would really love my $600 back. That is all I want.

I have reviewed the call for this particular client and the consultant never told her she cannot do this on her own.  As a matter of fact we have...

this disclosure on our website:

SLRG is NOT affiliated with the Department of Education,
Sallie Mae, or any other loan servicing agency. SLRG does NOT service loans.
SLRG is a document preparation service.
SLRG assists consumers by providing professional student
loan consolidation preparation, filing and monitoring services. Like filing a
tax return, you can file a student loan consolidation without professional
assistance and without charge at http://loanconsolidation.ed.gov.
I can assure you we are very prompt in returning calls or emails. We never drafted any money out of this account as she was never officially a client, because each client goes through a welcome call prior to enrollment. This file was cancelled and never put through the system. The fact that is person is saying our very legitimate and compliant document preparation company is a scam is erroneous and libel. Please remove.
