Sun Valley Motors Reviews (47)

Great experience here at Sun Valley Motors. I was in and out with the car I wanted within an hour. The finance team was very professional and made the car buying experience very smooth and easy. Without a doubt, I will be a repeat customer.

Review: I have an invalid contract with Sun Valley Motors Put a partial down payment on a vehicle I didnt own a full 24 hours before it needed major repairs

Mazda-CX7-2007 Problem Timing: Chain, VVT, Bald Tire.

This vehicle was purchased from the dealership on 06/14/13 with a debit amount of $2800 for PARTIAL DOWN PAYMENT. I drove from Fresno, Ca to Sacramento, Ca based on this vehicle being in good condition, Alot of talk went on about this car, one of my questions being has this car been inspected, how is the engine? any accidents? [redacted] went on stating the vehicle had a 32-point inspection, no accidents, regular oil changes and sold as is with no cool down period I still decided on it anyway because it ran really well at the lot so I was okay with the minor defects like the stock dvd player not working. As [redacted] assured me there were no major defects the car had well up keep, and I could walk away with the car for a total of $3500 down with a partial payment of $2800 on 06/14 with a promise to pay the remaining $700 by 07/14 or according to [redacted] "everything done 06/14 in that office would be void" now [redacted] my salesmen seemed very trustworthy but I should have gotten the red flag when he told me to lie to [redacted] financial company when they called and tell them I gave them the full negotiated down payment amount of $3500 before I left with the vehicle on 06/14 I honestly was just glad he was able to help me. Upon my return back home when I reached Madera, Ca the vehicle started making noise. On 06/15 my father took the vehicle to his mechanice and found that the timing chain was going out and it could cost at least $400.00 or so to repair, but that $400.00 or so turned into $856.61 and maybe more but he wouldnt be able to tell unless he got to the VVT also, which he would basically have to tear down the car, which he also informed myself and my father he couldnt even do it would have to be done at the dealership. My father called the dealership and spoke to [redacted] and asked for [redacted] the dealership owner but much to our dismay [redacted] wldnt be in til 2:00. My father informed [redacted] no vehicle should be sold with major work being needed, not to mention [redacted] neglected to reveal these issues to me at the dealership, and that he would need to call me back after speaking with [redacted] to resolve the issue, well I spoke to [redacted] again that day and there resolution was I know you agreed to "as is" but we are willing to knock 400 off the 300 you owe us, I informed [redacted] that was not good enough I cant afford to make car payments & car repairs, so someone wont get paid. Not only that I made this "almost valid" arrangement contingent upon if you recvd $700 from me by 07/14 and that is something you will not get I didnt even own the car a full 24 hours before it needed major work. In all fairness I asked him to just take the car back, no one is loosing no paper work with DMV has been filed and I am not giving you all anything else and rather then waist money to send someone to come get it I will gladly give it back also I will not lie to [redacted] Financial Company when they call me and tell them I gave you the full $3500 down payment. The only thing I'd like is my money and reimbursemnt of $180.00 for the insurance purchased for the car and we can part ways the civil way. He told me he will run it by [redacted] but he wont take it back. I didnt understand his repy to my resolution because like I stated earlier [redacted] told me if they did not get $700 the contract would be invalid anyway. Not only did sell a vehicle they knew to have major issues [redacted] the dealership owner wont deal with it, and refuses to take a car that technically still belongs to them, fortunatly for me I made the purchase on a friday, Its still registered to Sun Valley Motors. I called [redacted] again today 06/16/2013 But no call back yet, They knew the car had issues and instead of being honest and up front Hector continued to assure me the car had no issues, which is very crooked and misleading. I went to them because they said they could help me and they screwed me. Desired Settlement: All I want back is my $2800 for my partial down payment and $180 for my insurance down payment, and to return they're mechandise the car hasnt been registered to me yet so this seems easy enough, they just dont want to give me back my money. I want to walk away free and clear and we can put the past behind us.

Business' Initial Response

To Whom It May Concern,

Sun Valley Motors is writing this response to address the concerns of Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. Upon gathering the facts, these matters were resolved quickly. It's unfortunate that Ms. [redacted] had jumped to a complaint without reasonable due process.

We would like to state that Sun Valley Motors sells cars "as is" with the best of intentions, and by no means did we know that the vehicle Ms. [redacted] purchased had a timing chain issue. Apparently, neither did she because she purchased the car after the test drive.

Cars have more that two thousand moving parts, and at any moment, issues may arise. Based on Ms. [redacted]'s own mechanic's inspection, all it needed was an adjustment. Even though we were not obligated to help her in any way, out of good faith, we offered to repair the stated issue for her. However, she refused to accept our offer. Sun Valley Motors even offered to exchange the vehicle for her, which she declined as well.

Finally, we decided to return the car for her, which is ultimately what she wanted. We hope this complaint is completely deleted from the Revdex.com's database because the issue was resolved before the complaint even arrived.

Thank-you,

Sun Valley Motors

Bought a used Honda from Sun Valley Motors and overall the process went smoothly. They helped me get payments that I can afford and worked with my past credit issues. Had a good experience with the finance team here.

Review: Sun valley motors sold me a car with internal issues, Sun valley motors also withheld the car fax the car had been in a car accident which almost totaled it. I also took the car to sun valley motors to let them know that there was a problem with the car they didn't resolve it instead they said it was fine but it wasn't unfortunately I was forced to give the car back now I'm carless and out of numerous dollars all I want is a good running car!Desired Settlement: I would like to have a replacement car, and I would like the car loan to say paid on my credit, I don't think I should have to take this hit on my credit, sun valley motors underhanded me with this car by not telling me everything the car fax was not in the contract! Sun valley motors are crooks and I'Am not satisfied with their services

Response:

Sun Valley Motors sells our vehicles with the best of intentions and sells the vehicles As-Is. We have no knowledge of the customer coming to Sun Valley Motors to report issues with his vehicle after purchase. According to the customer's complaint to the Revdex.com, the issues with his vehicle had occurred a full year after his purchase. As such a lengthy time has passed, we are unable to assist in resolving his vehicle issues. After purchase, it is the customer's responsibility to maintain the upkeep of his vehicle.

Review: Really I have 2 complaints with sun Valley motors. I bought a dodge magnum from them and the knob to use the navigation was missing. We had in the contract that they would replace the knob. After about 2 months of me trying to find out the status of them getting me the knob I got it and installed it but the toggle inside is broken. So really the issue is not fixed and I still cannot use my navigation. 2nd issue is I traded in my dodge durango with 180k miles on it and they are advertising it for only having 101k miles on it. I think they are rolling back the milage on vehicles they are selling and I think they need to be investigated.Desired Settlement: If they are rolling back milage on cars they are selling I want them put out of business. How do I know if my car didn't have the mileage rolled back on it.........

Business

Response:

In response to the customer's 2 concerns, Sun Valley Motors sells our cars with the best of intentions. We have been in business for over 6 years and have sold over 1000 vehicles. In regards to the 1st concern with the knob, it appears that the customer has received the knob. As for the navigation, the vehicle is sold As-Is. Regarding the 2nd concern, when it comes to miles, we guarantee the miles on your vehicle is correct. We guarantee every vehicle sold. We have never had complaints from prior customers and financial institutions in regards to mileage. All our vehicles have clear titles and accurate mileage. In response to the customer's trade in [redacted], unfortunately, the miles advertised was a clerical error made during the online advertising process, in which the error has since been corrected.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: the purpose of getting the knob was so I can use the navigation and simply pressing the knob on the broken joystick did not solve the problem. Can the durango be investigated to make sure the car was sold with the correct mileage?

Review: The following are the complaints to be addressed:1. Sun Valley Motors failed to pay, per CA state vehicle registration policies, sale tax and registration fee's in accordance with DMV guidlines2. Sun Valley Motors fail to repair problem with car as identified prior to finalization of purchase as agreed toDesired Settlement: I'd the repairs actioned per verbal agreement and monies refunded in the amount of $1,635.00 which covers vehicle registation fee, ticket for having a expired registration and late registration fee's.

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] did purchase a vehicle from us a few months ago, however, we are not sure what he is referring to when stating that Sun Valley Motors failed to pay the sales tax and registration fees for him. We have complied with everything that needs to be done on our part. In fact, Mr. [redacted], still has a remaining balance on his account that he has yet to pay. In regards to repairs, Sun Valley Motors does not do "verbal agreements". The cars here are sold "as-is", which is stated on the contract he signed, along with additional paperwork when he purchased the vehicle. If there is an agreement to do any kind of repairs or added work for a customer, it is outlined on the Due Bill.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: Sun Valley has not proven by documentation via the DMV. That they have registered paperwork for title and registration. I would ask that Sun Valley Motors provide proof of evidence.

Business

Response:

I am responding to Mr. [redacted]' complaint with the same information as before. Since the status of this has not changed, Sun Valley Motors still maintains that we have done everything required by DMV. The registration has been completed through DMV for Mr. [redacted], and was done so within the time required. Sun Valley Motors would like to state again that we have complied with everything that needs to be done on our part.

Although I did not buy a vehicle they did an amazing job of keeping me informed and showing me everything that was within my budget. I came in for some information and they were very helpful. I felt at ease the entire time!
