Superhero Events Reviews (48)

This was refunded last week and the customer was notified on 2/17/15.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action...

would not resolve my complaint.
Superhero events has not provided a reasonable response as to why I am not getting the same refund amount as people that registered after me and received a refund before me. The total cost of the cancelled event was $111. Two of my friends that registered after me, received a refund of $105 just two weeks ago. I received a check in the amount of $99.00. This is unacceptable and I would like for the business to explain as to why this would occur.

my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The Superhero Events business claims they do not have my name on records as a registered paid customer for the Faithful 5K Santa Clara Half-Marathon. However, below is a copy of my receipt for registration with my name and the business name, Superhero Events, included. I am happy to forward a copy of that receipt if you can please instruct me on how/where to forward that receipt, as I have it as an email format. In addition, when I reached out to Superhero Events in regards to the status of my refund, they finally did respond after my third email and did not mention anything about not having my name on file. I have a copy of that email as well, and can gladly forward that to the Revdex.com.

Review: This problem can be many catergories:

an advertisement of a service that is not available, failure to respond to phone calls (let alone providing a working number) or written requests for assistance or support, the company failed to honor a written commitment to provide refund, and so on.

I purchased two registrations for "2014 Santa Clara Half Marathon & Faithful 5K on December 14, 2014" on June 13, 2014 for a total of $212.93.

On September 24th, 2014, I received an "Event Cancellation Notice" through email, reading "It is with a heavy heart that we write to you today regarding the upcoming Santa Clara Half Marathon and 5K scheduled for December 14, 2014. We have made the difficult decision to cancel the event due to a number of circumstances, including changes that we were required to make with our agreement with the 49ers, and the development of their new 4.9K Stadium Run and Obstacle Challenge. There are numerous factors that would make it difficult for us to provide the unique experience that you would expect from us on race day.

We apologize for this inconvenience and we’ll begin sending refunds to all participants right away. Please allow up to 6 – 8 weeks for us to process and mail out all refund payments. If your address has changed from the one that was used at the time of registration in June-July, please email [email protected].

Sincerely,

Event Operations Dept

Santa Clara Half Marathon"

I've emailed several times with no response. Finally on November 19th, 2014, I received the following email, word for word:

"You can expect to receive your refund next week.

Kind Regards,

[redacted] Nwadike

VP/ Event Coordinator

OFFICE1: 619-800-HERO

CELL: 619-777-3321

After almost six whole months, the company's only reply was to say the refund was on the way. I tried calling both numbers and the mailbox is full or the company cannot be reached. They stole my money and won't provide any explanation or refund.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my total payment amount of $212.93 plus interest. This company puts on other events in other locations and it's unacceptable for them to take money for half a year and not provide any word to their consumers.

Review: I had signed up for the Santa Clara Half Marathon running race, which was to be held in Santa Clara, CA on December 14, 2014. I paid $111.44 for registration and processing fees, and I used my credit card. Superhero Events, LLC is the company that was organizing the race. On September 24, 2014, Superhero Events, LLC sent out a blast email to all registrants for this race informing us that the race was cancelled due to many logistical issues that they could not overcome. They claimed that they would be processing refunds over the next 6-8 weeks. However, I have not yet received any refund. Nor has Superhero Events, LLC made any kind of email contact or phone contact to me regarding the reason for the delay. I have sent them multiple emails and they simply don't respond, and that is the case for many people who are also awaiting refunds. Many people have publicly written on their Facebook walls (both the Superhero Events, LLC Facebook wall as well as the Facebook wall of another event they produce, Hollywood Half Marathon), and they made just a few responses to threads saying "Refunds are currently being processed", but that was it. Since then, various threads such as these have been deleted from their Facebook walls.Desired Settlement: All I want from them is a check for $111.44.

Review: On June 29, 2014, I signed up and paid $54.44 (via credit card) for an event, a 5K run that was supposed to occur on Dec. 14, 2014. The event was cancelled on Sept. 24, 2014. They said that they would issue refunds within 6-8 weeks, to all participants. I still hadn't received my refund, and on Nov. 19, 2014, I emailed the CEO and President of the company, [redacted], about the status of the refunds. They asked for me mailing address that same day and I responded immediately, but I did not receive any response after that. I emailed again on Dec. 7, 2014, as to the status and when I can expect the refund, but still no response. I tried emailing again on Dec. 22, 2014, with no response. That was the last email I sent. It has been 5 months, and still no refund or response to my inquiries. Two other people that I signed up with, haven't gotten any refunds or response to emails either. I have also tried calling the phone number that [redacted] provided, several times, and no one answers. It is Google Voice number and I get generic message about the "owner" being unavailable or something to that effect. I have left numerous voice messages as well. No response.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund ASAP, for me and my two friends, for everyone! Although, I don't know if anyone else got refunds.

Review: I signed up for a 10k in April. The run was supposed to take place on 10/10/15, however an email went out on 9/30/15 (just 10 days prior) stating the run was rescheduled to 10/25/15 due to another event already planned for the original date. Well, I am already signed up for a different run on 10/25/15 therefore requested a refund. I received part of my refund on 10/6/15, however am still owed $5 for the registration fee. I have sent NUMEROUS email requests since then, because I should not have to be out the registration fee for something that was rescheduled due to the even organizers lack of planning. It should not matter if the registration fee is through a 3rd party, Superhero events should eat this cost if that is the case. $5 may not be much for some, but it is for me and it's also a matter of ethics.

I see that this company has a history of doing this, and it's EXTREMELY unprofessional that they don't respond to their emails when this is their only form of contact (it's impossible to contact them through the phone number). I don't see how this company is allowed to continue to operate, as the more I learn about them it seems like a scam is being run.

I would like the remainder of my refund ASAP, this is nothing short of STEALING at this point. Thank you.Desired Settlement: See above, I would like the remainder of my refund ASAP, this is nothing short of STEALING at this point. Thank you.

Review: On 07/27/2014, I paid $53.99 (via credit card) for a 5K run that was supposed to occur on 12/14/2014, sponsored by the Superhero Events LLC business. The event was cancelled on 09/24/2014, and participants were informed that a full refund would be issued within 6-8 weeks. On 11/23/2014, I emailed the business CEO and President of the company, Mr. [redacted] at: [redacted] and [redacted] (because there was no response via phone) to inquire about the status of my refund being issued, as I had not received any information directly from the business. I did not receive a response. On 12/10/2014, I emailed the business a second time to inquire about the status of my refund being issued, as the event was cancelled. No response was received. On 01/04/2015, I emailed the business a third time to inquire about my refund being issued and explained that no response had been received since my initial November email. On 01/05/2015, I received a response from Ms. [redacted] (VP/ Event Coordinator, [redacted]), stating that refunds were still being issued. It has been 5 months (significantly beyond the 6-8 weeks initially stated), and my refund has still not been issued. My attempts to contact the business via phone or email have not resulted in any clear communication about when my refund will be issued. I know two of my other friends also experienced the same conflict with no responses from the business after voice messages and emails were sent.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund for my two friends and I. I would also like the business to specify what date the refunds will be issued.

This is a horrible company. They have a history of "organizing" runs, canceling at the last minute, and giving runners grief over obtaining refunds. I use the term "organizing" very loosely, as this company is EXTREMELY disorganized. Who advertises a run and then cancels at the last minute, over and over again? And then ignores requests for refunds. Maybe it's all a scam? They should NOT be allowed to do business, running events need a lot of organization and it's disappointing that this company does not seem to respect the runners who sign up expecting a fun event.
