Mr*** owns a Jeep wrangler door. The original purchase date was 6/20/2012. Mr*** purchased it from Ron Lewis
Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Waynesburg on 2/25/with 24,miles. The original 3/36,bumper to bumper
warranty expired on 6/20/2015, however
the power train warranty still has
months remaining or until the vehicle reaches 64,miles. That being said, when Mr*** drove his car in for service
on 10/5/2015, we followed the guidelines set forth by Chrysler corporation
under the power train warranty policy. The vehicle would not stay running, it repeatedly stalled and
became increasingly harder to restart. In addition the check light was on. The technician raised the hood and immediately saw water marks and mud
in the engine compartment. First glance
would make you think the vehicle was under water at some point. Policy dictates that we notify our Chrysler tech
adviser for assistance, and Chrysler’s position of continuing warranty
coverage. We were instructed to take
pictures and remove the heads for further diagnosis. Those pictures were sent to Chrysler for
inspection. The next day we received an
e-mail denying coverage. On 10/30/our service director called Mr*** to inform
him of Chrysler’s positionMr*** told us that he was not paying
anything and instructed us to do nothing more. He then came in to the dealership and had conversation with our general
manager. The result of the conversation
was to put the car back into the same condition it was when it came in. That was done the following day and Mr*** was informed
that it was completed and ready for pick up. There were absolutely no corrective work done on the car, and that there
would be no charge as Chrysler covered the diagnosis up to this point. To the best of my knowledge the vehicle would
not drive off of the lot, so it was towed. At this point we have had no further contact with Mr***.Sincerely,Thomas * ***Executive Vice President

It was verbally conveyed to the customer that Ron Lewis would pay the remaining lease payments only. At no time did we accept responsibility for any excess miles, wear/tear, or disposition fee. The customer was informed he would be responsible The dealership issued two checks to
the customer in the amount of $and $for the remaining payments and taxes. In regards to the $for the military rebate, these are rebates from Chrysler and customers must qualify. Jason said that he was not aware of the customer's military status. I have attached the rules for qualification and what documents are needed to claim. *** *** The bed liner was weeks old before it started warping like if you microwave something plasticTheir claim of abuse is a ridiculous excuse not to replace the defective linerWith all the rain we've had in Western PA, I've been shut down at least a week since I purchased the truck, so I'd claim the bed was only in use for weeks! I will I'll follow up with pictures that clearly and unequivocally show it's defective and dispute any claims of abuse. Thank You, *** ***

In response to the complaint from *** ***, Ron Lewis Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Pleasant Hills does agree that part of the sale did include an original equipment bed liner. The bed liner installed does carry a full factory warranty for defects in workmanship Unfortunately, Mr
***'s problem with the bed liner is due to physical damage from abuse. We do not install spray in bed liners, therefore, if Mr*** preferred a spray in bed liner he should have made the request at the time of sale so arrangements could have been made with another vendor If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at ***. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I was able to contact the selling dealer and obtain the date/mileage of the last oil/fuel filter change - 10/12/15,196mi. This is well within the recommended change interval of 20,000mi. This information is available within Chrysler's own computer system and should have been checked, or a call made to the selling dealer as I requested, before this service was undertaken. The failure to do so shows a complete lack of due diligence. I suppose now Ron Lewis Chrysler will blame the issue on bad fuel when in reality there's a proven issue with the truck and Chrysler and its agents must honor its warranty. The dealer must stop blaming the customer for its and Chrysler's failures. I will expect my account to be credited for the amount charged for this service. Nothing less will resolve this complaint

I would like to address Mr. [redacted]’s concern that “if the service is required to prevent recurrence of an issue covered under warranty, then the service itself should be covered under warranty.”  The fuel injection service was necessary to remove the contaminants that restrict or clog the fuel...

injectors permitting the fuel filter to function at capacity.  According to the factory maintenance schedule, fuel filter replacement intervals should be every second oil change.  In the 3.0 diesel Ram, oil change intervals are every 10,000 miles. Mr. [redacted]’ vehicle mileage was 4,300 beyond this maintenance interval.  The diagnosis of the P0299 code is covered by the Chrysler factory warranty. Fuel filter replacement and any damage caused by not replacing at recommended factory maintenance intervals is strictly a maintenance item and maintenance items are not covered by factory warranty.Jim F[redacted]Service Director

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. When I purchased the truck in March, 2017, it had 20,381 miles on it.  Using the logic in the dealer's response, this means it was already 381 miles over the required maintenance interval.  Since this was a Chrysler buy-back, the selling dealer had an incentive to make sure all maintenance was up to date.  If they did not do so, that is still a failure of Chrysler and its agents (dealers) and so repair should be covered under warranty.  Additionally, I requested both in writing on my drop-off form and verbally over the phone that this dealer contact the selling dealer for guidance on addressing the issue since the failure to resolve it initially was the driver for the Chrysler buy-back for the original dealer.  Failure to do so shows a lack of due diligence on the part of the Ron Lewis dealership and a failure to deal in good faith.  I would still like my billing adjusted for the amount of the charge for this service.

Unfortunately there was no offer to review from the dealership, just the same lie told again.  IT WAS NEVER "verbally conveyed to the customer that Ron Lewis would pay the remaining
lease payments only".  Their exact words, over and over, were that "they will take care of the rest of the lease".  At NO POINT prior to the purchase was it mentioned that "the rest of the lease" only applies to the payment amount.  I was not informed of any of this becoming my responsibility until a month after the transaction.  I have said, and I maintain, that I would NOT have purchased this vehicle if I was advised I would have to pay additional fees to Kia.   Ron Lewis has purposely withheld the details until the transaction was processed, then switched the terms of the deal once I took possession of the vehicle.  BUYER BEWARE.  I will continue my campaign to bring consumer awareness to the shady practices at Ron Lewis.
