This is in response to your letter dated February 22, rebuttalTelmate provides telephone services to incarcerated persons at correctional facilities in the US and CanadaI have reviewed the customer’s complaint and detailed below
We never received the funds, as they were in a pending hold on customers banking facility sideAll banking facilities will hold the funds of a possible charge until it is either confirmed from the business charging the card, voided or if no action is done after a determined amount of time it will automatically go back to account the hold was placed on. Below it shows that both transactions were voided on February 23, a void can only happened if the funds were never confirmed to be charged. If Mr*** does not see the funds in his account, he needs to check with his bank to see what the delay is

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2015/05/13) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The issue still remains that Telmate is required to disclose costs, which they failed to doThere is no cost information about quick connect calls on or by the phone I used or onlineTheir online disclosure of "additional charges may apply" does not meet the lawful requirement of fee disclosure because it is a vague referenceAnd the phone "disclosure" is hidden behind "press one to be connected"Telmate knows that most people don't continue to listen to the automated phone choices after they've heard the appropriate number to press and their response just gives further evidence of their efforts to hide chargesEven Telmate's reply to my complaint with Revdex.com does not explain how phone calls of various lengths (some less than minutes) somehow all get charged exactly $Telmate's business practices constitute hidden charges and feesNot everyone has access to the internet 24/and those without internet services should be able to just as easily set up a prepaid account and understand related charges as customers with internet accessAdditionally, the jail kiosk where I was supposed to transfer monies from one part of their system to the other for prepaid calls wasn't even accessible to me until the third day I was in jail because I was in the infirmary where there are no kiosks$for phone calls is not "affordable" and there is no logical reason for Telmate to even make these separate kinds of accounts except to be deceptive so they can charge ridiculous hidden fees and charges

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 15, 2015/06/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Telmate hides the charges for quick connect calls by having different prompts (the first of which is press to be connected) before #"for related charges"; by not disclosing the cost of quick connect calls on the phones used by inmates; by not disclosing the cost of quick connect calls on their web siteI did not have access to the kiosk which would have allowed me to transfer funds from my commissary account to my phone accountWhich I shouldn't even have to do since the same company provides all the services under different namesMy husband and my finances are connected and I had no idea what charges were being billed to us until his charge card was maxed outTelmate is expected as is any other telecommunications provider to be transparent regarding charges which Telmate refuses to doIf they do not refund the charges I will file complaints against Telmate for wilfully hiding exorbitant charges/fees and for unfair business practices with the FCC and the National Association of Regulatory Utility CommissionersAfterwards I'll begin filings for a class action lawsuit so they can be fair to all their clientsAs is demonstrated by Miss *** ***'s response, the fees are not set and even the supervisor can't explain themLet's seeby Miss ***'s explanation a phone call less than minutes should cost between $3.96- $with as of yet undefined "additional credit card and handling fees" which apparently range from $to $depending on which way the wind blows because there is no way that all calls were exactly the same cost for clearly different amounts of timeTelmate continues to hide fees and charges which they themselves cannot even describe or defendI want my money back

For one, we never deal with jail issues as we are not criminals and this was a firstSecondly I nevr heard anythinf about cjargesThird, pretty deceiving to accept call press onePretty obvioua anyone would if we have no clue as to what is going with a lived one miles awayPress for for charges relatedReally ! As soon as anyone here's accept they would if they have no clue as to a company who rips off innocent people
This is deceiving to anyone who is not used to a system that deals with jailsThis whole this was a mix up as the state of Missouri took him in and they had the wrong person so he was let go and bond returnedBut this company preys n people who have never dealt with this type of thingAnd like I said to put charges after accepting should be illegal, it misrepresents the charges by putting them at he endI never heard this charges thing and it misrepresented and should be totally illegal
We will be bringing this up to a lawyer for misrepresentation
They are not a legit CompanyThey are a joke and innocent people have to pay for it

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: whoever wrote it thinks they can put a whole bunch of words on paper and dance around the actual problemWhich was never even addressed in this long-winded and impotent responseYou take no responsibility for my account balance?! What about taking responsibility for having a system in place that will drop a call before it begins and still charge for the call???? Or then do it multiple times IN A ROW? Then, your system, instead of realizing the phone call did not take place and reversing the fee immediately just goes ahead and takes the money regardless! What's worse is that you make people call you and wait minutes on hold to speak with a real person (if they aren't disconnected first) to tell them they were charged without receiving your serviceThen, your representative ooks in the computer and actually sees something showing that they were charged and did not even receive a phone callWhat I'm wondering is, why did the person need to call and demand their money back if YOU ALREADY KNEW THEY GOT RIPPED OFF?! Let me make myself clearIf the $is not paid to me or deposited onto *** ***'s phone account by the weekend then I will be forced to file a complaint with the Attourney Generals OfficeAnd if necessary, after that I will file a suitI hope I am heard this timeThe only way to resolve this dispute is to pay me back the money your "technical problems" caused me to loseIt's that simpleThere is no way for you to justify what happened, legally, technically, or otherwiseI am not going to be bullied by you and I will not just go awayThis will be my final Revdex.com correspondenceSincerely,*** ***
