I just called customer service, ended up requesting a managerI uploaded photos at $eachAbout of these photos ended up uploading sideways 'because they are too large and the system turns them' is what I was told by the customer service rep, as well as the supervisorHowever, no where on their website does it state that the system would do thisI am not paying for a bunch of turned photos when I could've easily resized them myself had I known their 'system' would do this and they would be turned the right way They refused to issue me a refund for the photos that were turned sideways by their system and they claim they have no way of turning them themselvesThe 'supervisor' told me to hold for a moment and he ended up hanging up the phone, obviously because he did not feel like dealing with meI waited minutes on the phone for this horrendous serviceAbsolute JOKE

My boyfriend is being held in a County Jail and we used the video visitation offered through Telmate we had completed a previous visit with no issue, however we were unable to connect for another visit I had their customer service on the phone during the time we were supposed to visit we had another visit scheduled immediately after which was by mistake but we could not connect for our 2PM visit I asked for my monies to be refunded and they refused, yet while I was on the phone with them my 2:visit started and was just fine so all of the reasons they were stating that it was my computer that I was on the wrong browser, etcclearly were not the problem it was on their end they still refused to refund the monies for the visitation that did not take placeCompanies should not be allowed to take money and not provide the service for which has been paid

Fully resolvedThe company provided me with all of the information I had requested

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2014/06/13) */
I have researched the details of this complaint and determined the following information
Our system indicates that the inmate associated with phone number XXX-XXX-XXXX have received the free visits per week as dictated by the Canyon
County Sheriff's officeDue to privacy laws, we are unable to share the details regarding when these visits took place or with whom the inmate visited

Tell me it must have the absolute worst theory of customer service I have ever heard not a single person ever answers my question when I call the direct me to a different department they say there's nothing they can do they say they don't know they don't understand they fooled me to someone else I've gone around and around and around and around with a very simple question over and over again they say they're going to fix it and guess what it's never fixed not once has telmate ever helped me with a single problem worst customer service Care on the planet be prepared you're on your own they just take advantage of people in this situation.

This company is a scam if there were other options to contact inmates in my area I would use something else.

I put money in my account to receive calls as well as the inmates account so calls could be made and received. This particular account I have has been used on and off. Last time sometime in 2016. Well apparently sometime in that year I got blocked for making and receiving calls because of some supposed call placed with a third party. This was news to me because there was never any 3 ways calls initiated no indicator whatsoever.

I found out about this block after having trouble getting and making calls. So I contacted a Telmate rep. That's when I first find out its blocked and that it was in 2016. I asked the rep to give specifics about what third party was involved.

Only to be told when the audio or however it was she found out was listened to. It had only me and the inmate talking and nothing in the conversation was a red flag nor was there another person on the call but us two.

She wasn't sure why it had been blocked and placed a file for my account to be unblocked. Well I waited two days and had a additional missed call from the inmate saying she couldn't reach me with telmate again because of a block.

I had to call telmate for a follow up on the submitted form. Well I did that only to be told it can't be unblocked because my State has a strict policy they can't overuse. Which is confusing because Telmate is the service provider they could easily fix this and explain the block was unnecessary but apparently it's out of their hands. Which makes no sense and even everything I'm being told is very vague. The local jail has no control over the blocks(I asked) so if they can't fix or remove the block what other persons can? Yet it's blocked through the Telmate service, and they can't even provide numbers etc. Can't tell me of the entire account is blocked or just the number. They can't tell me nothing. Nothing for me to reach out to contact so I can have it over turned.

So I ask to have the money refunded to my account from both accounts since Im blocked from using the service, and the inmate can't contact me or use the funds for commissary. The service is useless to to both us. I ask for a return and get the run around. I can't get a refund until the inmate is released but by that time I'd lose claim to the money I just added. Because even though she can't use it the time frame for claims/refunds would be up. And being a inmate she can't even contact the tech support to make a complaint.

The offered refund recharge fee to my card would take all that was deposited into the account for me to receive calls. Not counting what I put in the inmate account.

The only other offered option was to get my family account funds on a prepaid phone card that can only be used with their service... The same service my account is blocked with. No check, no prepaid visa, or other debit card, but a phone card for their sy service I can't even use.

I'm supposed to cut my losses because I was unaware my account had a block on it from 2016 and its now a few weeks shy of 2019. I never got any notice or alert on the telmate account site that it was blocked or restricted. Not anything to give me pause about depositing my money.

Once again I only found out about the block when I couldn't leave voicemails and was told by the inmate they were blocked too.

If my account was blocked why was I never notified? Why was there no message hinting at a issue like this before I spent money that I may not get back? I work for what little I get and dirty dealings like what Telmate did is underhanded, poorly managed and shady.

I'll see if my bank will have better luck and soon after I will close that account. Folks stick to letters in the mail this service is costly and a rip off. You put more into it than you'd ever get back if anything.

I don't even want to give it one star but like everything else they will steal that too in order to let the review post.

I’m extremely upset with Telmate! I had our phone number blocked by being called from a specific facility. They assured me that our number would never be able to be called again. Somehow, we continued to receive calls from an inmate at that facility. How can they do that?! False claims are illegal, still, are they not? Last time I checked, it was still not right to lie to people and make empty promises to them.

This company just rips off inmates and their families. When asking for a refund because the inmate has been transferred they give you a virtual calling card only good for long distance or international calls. You are given a 10 digit number then a 10 digit pin and by the way they deduct $3.00 a month if it is not used.
