NSHSS is a global honor society established in 2002. For the past 17 years, the organization has collaborated with colleges, universities, corporate and governmental partners to support members transition from high school to college and from college to career. Our benefits include: access to scholarships, member events and college fairs, partner offerings, and resources for college and career preparation.

The NSHSS Member events are strategically scheduled with our members' best interests in mind; meaning that we hope that they can attend at least one (1) that's in close proximity where they can participate in the career/college fairs, student exhibitions, and effective workshops; build peer and partner connections/networks; and attend the recognition ceremony where they are presented with their honor medallions as we celebrate their academic accomplishments.

Additionally, as I review your dashboard, I don't see where you've applied for any scholarships. Eligibility requirements and the open/close dates vary, and we have several new scholarships opening up in the next month or so. Had you been awarded a particular scholarship, the funds would've been available to the college or university you would attend. If you haven't visited our website, I encourage you to do so at www.nshss.org to see current and past scholarship recipients, the testimonials from both parents and members, and our commitment to providing the resources and support needed to excel in high school, college, and beyond.

I have processed the refund and will email you a copy of the transaction receipt for your records. Please allow up to 48hrs for the credit to settle successfully with your financial institution. If you have any further questions, please allow Member Services the opportunity to assist you by calling XXX-XXX-XXXX, M-F, 8a-5p EST or visit our very resourceful website at www.nshss.org.

On behalf of NSHSS, we wish you the absolute Best throughout your academic journey and beyond!!

In the United States, an honor society is an organization that recognizes excellence among its peers. There are numerous honor societies at both the secondary school and collegiate levels, and academically talented students can expect to receive invitations from more than one organization. There are many options out there for high-achieving students, you are not limited to just one and you are certainly right to do your research! Unfortunately, there seems to be some misinformation out there about NSHSS and we are doing our best to share real stories and achievements of our outstanding students, member benefits, and relevant information on our website at www.nshss.org and through our social media channels. We actually have members "take over" our Instagram every day this summer and you can check them out @NSHSS.

Like other academic or professional societies, NSHSS does charge a fee for membership that helps the society off-set costs of providing member communications and benefits. This one-time $75 fee for membership may also be waived for qualifying students without the financial means through our fee-waiver program. We are very proud to honor all students who are striving for and achieving academic excellence, and honoring and recognizing these students is a core value of the society. However, it seems some folks confuse that with the sole benefit of the Society. This is why we say: Be Honored. Be More. NSHSS honors students for their academic achievements and opens pathways for high achieving students and their families to more. When you see the amazing students who have found great resources like scholarships, study abroad experiences or summer programs, a peer network, access to corporate and educational opportunities, and member conferences and events through their membership in NSHSS - you will know we are definitely not a scam!

Per the NSHSS refund policy, you may cancel the membership at any time; however, to receive a refund for the "one-time", lifetime membership fee of $75, it must be within 60 days from the time the invitation for membership was accepted.

You became a member of our distinguished, academic honor society on July 23, 2019 so you are within that window to receive a refund.

We received your email yesterday, September 16 @ 9:55PM and a Member Services representative responded to you today @ 8:14AM. NSHSS hours of operation are M-F, 8a-5p EST and our goal is to respond to emails within 48hrs.

I have processed the refund and will email you a copy of the transaction receipt for your records. Please allow up to 48hrs for the credit to settle successfully with your financial institution. If you have any further questions, please give Member Services the opportunity to assist you by calling XXX-XXX-XXXX, M-F, 8a-5p EST or visit our very resourceful website at www.nshss.org.

I'm perplexed about your telephone experience as I monitor the calls with Member Services for quality control purposes. We did experience a power outage during the week of August 26 which we communicated effectively on our social media platforms; some calls were disconnected but other than that interruption, you shouldn't have been disconnected intentionally.

Scammed by NSHSS
On August 9th 2019 I payed $75 to NSHSS in order to be a member. In doing so, I was promised a lifetime of networking and to be a part of "programs and events that prepare and equip students with the essential skills, recognition and support needed to be successful" ; however, the only communication I've received from the program is about "Scholar's day" which honors students for their academic achievement which is of no substance when it comes to college applications or support. Also, these events are alway held either across the country or not in the country at all. Being that I came from a low-income house hold, I never had the $75 to spare and for it to go to waste on literally nothing is the worst thing. I'm extremely disappointed. NSHSS is totally a scam and I'd never recommend it to anyone!

Desired Outcome

I am looking to receive a full refund of $75 being that NSHSS has not kept it's promise and I've received no support from the organization what so ever.

You accepted your invitation on July 30, 2019 and the 2019-2020 academic school year has only been in session less than 2 months. All of our Member events are within the United States other than the final event, NSHSS Nobel Week 2019 with Stockholm Sweden, in honor of our co-founder's family, Alfred Nobel (Nobel Peace Prizes). Our Member Events are strategically located in hopes that our members can attend at least one (1) in close proximity to your State. Although these member events aren't mandatory, we also invite our Members to participate in our Leadership programs. The application process for the Ambassador program ended July 31, 2019 (after you became a Member); applications will be accepted again in the Spring.

Email communications will be populated regarding SAT/ACT test prep & tutoring services, study abroad and internship opportunities from our educational, corporate or government (CIA) partners where you will be able to gain invaluable experience. We've communicated the new launch of scholarships with open/close dates for our Members to apply to, per the eligibility requirements from their member dashboard.

It's unfortunate that you've requested to cancel your lifetime membership in less than two (2) months of the academic year. You are within the 60 day window to request a refund which has been processed. Please allow up to 48hrs for the credit to be settled successfully with your financial institution.

Your membership has been disabled and you will no longer receive email communications regarding new scholarships, member events, or special partner offerings. NSHSS wishes you the absolute BEST throughout your academic journey and beyond.

I was scammed of $75 from NSHSS. I was told that this would help with my college but it did nothing. I want a refund and membership cancellation.
I've been trying to contact NSHSS but they never respond to my emails or calls. NSHSS is of no use to me in my college applications or in regards with scholarships. I was tricked into believing that $75 would help me with my college but instead they did nothing plus took my money and never replied to me. I just want to cancel my membership and receive a full refund from NSHSS.

Desired Outcome

Full refund of $75.

I recently found out that this society is a scam and fraud. It doesn't even help you stand out on college applications.
Found out this society is a scam and would like my money back. I paid for my membership on July 28, 2019. My member ID is PYXXXXXXXXllo. I paid the fee because I thought it would help with college but I soon found out that it doesn't. Also all the events are far away from me.

Desired Outcome

I just want my $75 back.

suspicious that their phone don't work for weeks. Have attempted to cancel the membership, but have had not luck. Would like a refund.
We just recently received the invitation letter for NSHSS for our daughter, Elizabeth ***. I paid the fee and then it has come to light that this was a scam. I spent hours proving to her as to WHY this is a scam and it wasn't until we hit the Revdex.com website that we realized we were duped. We had received an e-mail from Karen Kan urging us to join and felt pressured to pay the $75 fee. We would like to get a refund.

Desired Outcome

We would like a full refund of the registration fee of $75.00

I paid for membership using a debit card on June 29, 2019. My name is *** and my member ID is ***. I paid thinking that NSHSS was more prestigious and involved with my high school. However, I soon found out that I can't join any of the events they host because it's way too far. I paid $75 with my own money and I'm quite disappointed that I believed into this kind of scam. I don't see this being beneficial to me during my high school and college life, so I would like a refund.

We actually have members "take over" our Instagram every day- you can check them out @NSHSS.

When you see the amazing students who have found great resources like scholarships, study abroad experiences or summer programs, a peer network, access to corporate, government (CIA) and educational opportunities, and member conferences and events through their membership in NSHSS - you will realize how dedicated we are to our members' successes.

You became a member of our honor society on July 10, 2019 so you're definitely within the 60 day window to receive a refund. The refund for $75 has been processed and I will email you a copy of that refund transaction for your records. Please allow up to 48hrs before the credit settles to your account. If you have any further questions, please give Member Services a call at XXX-XXX-XXXX, M-F, 8a-5p EST.

Your membership has been disabled and you will no longer receive email communications regarding new scholarships, member events, or special partner offerings. NSHSS wishes you the absolute BEST throughout your academic journey and beyond.

All the Best,

I called the number provided by National Society of High School Scholars about refunding, but no one answered or called back.
After researching more on NSHSS, I come to find out it is not a true Honor Society AFTER I paid my dues and for an honor stole. I purchased my membership online on August 14, 2019. On August 15, 2019 I called the number NSHSS provided, sat through the automated recordings multiple times, never talked to anyone, and never received a call back. I have received my stole (order number XXXXXX from the website) , but have and will not open it because I will send it back and want a FULL refund. I paid $98.00, tax and shipping included, online with a credit card. I am within my 60 return policy and I want a full refund!

Desired Outcome

I please ask a full refund of my membership AND stole, which I will return, as soon as possible!!

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
They were very quick in their response and refunded ALL the money that was paid.

The company misled my 16 year old as an invitation from her high school. The packet they sent even had her school name and a teacher's name.
In June many students from my daughter's Framingham High School in Framingham, MA were contacted with a beautiful packet with the high school name on it saying they'd been invited to join National Honor Society. A number of students signed up because it couldn't have wrung more true in the way it was presented. The arrival of the packet was a real thrill for my hard working daughter. It is a cruel and embarrassing sham. What if I really couldn't afford the $75 but was convinced she needed this for college. Please help us get a refund. Thank you!

Desired Outcome

Refund of $75 and no further communications.

I would like to issue a complaint on the NSHSS scam, involving of not refunding my money.
I had joined and paid the NSHSS on July 29 in hopes of getting a scholarship and a good-looking achievement on my college applications. Then I read up on how it is a scam so I called today (August 20th) to ask for my $75 refund, only to get cut off half way of talking to them on the phone. I do not want to be part of it anymore since it is not as "prestigious" as it may sound like as many other kids my age got the same thing. There is a 60 day refund so I am aware that I can still receive my refund.

Desired Outcome

I hope to not be a member of NSHSS anymore and get my full refund of $75.

I, along with others, were misled into believing this group was something else; after finding out more, I have decided to cancel my membership.
After having received an invite over the summer, I officially became a member July 29, 2019. Though a little more than a week later I found out this wasn't the NHS and read many reviews of people being unsatisfied with their membership, so I emailed them last week asking if a refund was possible but did not get an answer back. I would just like a full refund of $75 to the card that was used to pay for my membership.

Desired Outcome

Full refund of $75

Hi ***,

In the United States, an honor society is an organization that recognizes excellence among its peers. There are numerous honor societies at both the secondary school and collegiate levels, and academically talented students can expect to receive invitations from more than one organization.

The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) is a distinguished international honors society founded in 2002 by ***, and *** senior member of the *** Peace Prize family. NSHSS recognizes, honors and serves the highest-achieving student scholars in more than 23,000 high schools across the country. At NSHSS we strive to offer outstanding scholars a platform and a community with which to connect, explore, and grow. In addition, we offer more than $2 million in scholarship funding annually, study-abroad programs, member-only events, leadership and development opportunities and more. Members gain enriching experiences to advance their goals and change their world as they transition from high school to college and from college to career. We are always adding benefits and partner offers, so please visit www.nshss.org or @nshss on Instagram often for updates and new offers.

It is unfortunate that there was some confusion between honor societies. The invitation to join the National Society of High School Scholars clearly states our organization's name, and both the response card and website are clearly identifiable with NSHSS branding.

You became a member on July 29, 2019, so you are within the 60 day window to receive a refund for the one-time, lifetime membership fee of $75. Your refund has been issued and I will email you a transaction receipt for your records. Please allow up to 48hrs before that credit settles successfully to your account. Your account has been disabled and you will no longer receive further communications from NSHSS regarding open scholarships, save-the-date member events or special partner offerings from our corporate, government (CIA) and educational partners.

For more information about the National Society of High School Scholars, the network of talented members, or the lifetime benefits of joining NSHSS, please visit www.nshss.org or call our Member Services team directly at XXX-XXX-XXXX, M-F, 8a-5p EST.

NSHSS bas gotten back to me a few days after I submitted my complaint through Revdex.com and confirmed the refund. I do not know if the transaction has been completely processed yet but I trust that it is resolved, thank you!

I was led to believe that this organization who help my future for the better. But now I realize it was just a scam.
I decided that I didn't want to be a part of NSHSS anymore after doing some research. I want to get my full refund of $75 that I paid on 6/20/19 which is still within their 60 days refund policy. I learned that this organization is just taking advantage of the parents' and students' hope of wanting to get into a good college by sucking the money out of them. I basically paid $75 for nothing since the membership won't even affect my chances of getting into the college I want, which is why I want a refund.

Desired Outcome

Full refund of $75

The NSHSS has forced my hand. I have sent 2 or 3 emails with my request for a refund well withing 30-days from accepting their invitation. While my son is in fact a Superstar academically and 4.25 GPA honor student, he cannot be associated with an entity as toxic and such gross lack of consumer confidence and reputation.

To this date, no one from NSHSS has responded to my emails requesting a withdrawal and refund. No a phone call and not even an email.

It matters a lot If an institution such as the Nobel NSHSS values their reputation and image. It should be protected and safeguarded at th highest levels. The fact that NSHSS has not responded responsibly and effectively to the numerous consumers presenting their complaints is a tell-tell symptom of fraud and corruption behavior.

The Revdex.com rating should reflect consumer confidence. The A- rating they currently enjoy should be a goal, NOT a current baseline.

NSHSS - refund me and withdraw our membership now!

Good Afternoon Hernan,

Thank you for your email and please accept our apologies for not responding to your email in a timely fashion. We are responding to emails as quickly as possible; however, a more efficient and timely response would be via phone call to Member Services at XXX-XXX-XXXX, M-F, 8a-6p EST.

Per our refund policy, all refunds have to be requested over the telephone if it's within the 60 days of becoming a Member; however, I have processed your refund successfully to your PayPal account for the $98 although graduation regalia was ordered and delivered.

Should you have any further questions regarding our distinguished, academic honor society, please visit our very resourceful and credible website at www.nshss.org or please give Member Services a call so we can further discuss the benefits of membership and how members are selected for membership https://www.nshss.org/membership/. We just enjoyed a successful signature member event at Scholar's Day DC (August 8, 9) where scholarship recipients were awarded, the Teacher of the Year [Sofia Gonzalez] was recognized who delivered a very profound and moving speech as an Educator, members presented their Passion *** and the winners were awarded and greeted by Marcus Nobel (Mr. Claes Nobel's son) and Mr. ***, co-owner. In addition to an effective schedule of meaningful workshops, a career fair with over 60 exhibitors allowing for partner and peer connections, we ended the event with a Gold Medallion ceremony where Members were recognized for their hard work and academic accomplishments.

Very suspicious that their phone don't work for weeks, but turn over at the end of the business day. Have attempted to cancel the membership, but have had no luck.
Exchanging emails are unsuccessful as they instruct you to call.
My daughter's peers have relayed unflattering evaluations and experiences. I will call Revdex.com now.

Can you please give me a call now at 866-343-1800 so I speak to you further. I'm concerned that you haven't been able to reach Member Services as our phones are fully functional and staffed.

I'd love the opportunity to speak to you. We are here until 6p EST today and I'm available to have a conversation with you now.

I called today to get a refund. I was told I would receive an email in 3-5 business days with the confirmation number and transaction details. The rep on the phone wouldn't even give me a confirmation code over the phone, and also did not confirm my email address with me over the phone. Most other businesses will give you a confirmation code immediately to prove that the refund is being processed, but not NSHSS. This leads me to believe that NSHSS is just holding onto my money for as long as possible and probably hoping that I'll forget next week. I'm setting an alarm on my phone to call them next week if their email hasn't shown up so I can call them again.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Any legitimate business would process refunds immediately.
