Thrive Market Inc Reviews (44)

After seeing online advertisements for samples at the price of shipping only, I took the bait and placed an order. Thankfully I checked my credit card statement a month later and saw that they had then charged me for a full annual membership.

While it is possible that somewhere in the order confirmation fine print they stated that they would be automatically billing me for membership, it was not made obvious and I never intended to purchase a membership.

Thankfully unlike others who have reviewed Thrive Market, my representative was friendly and considerate and did not argue when I asked to cancel and get a refund. She did make a couple of other offers that I politely declined. I will carefully watch my statement to make sure there are no additional charges in the future.

In general, the products they offer are good and the idea is good but they should take some lessons from other established subscription services to tighten things up for themselves, namely that customers don't like surprises. Filling inboxes with spammy junk mail doesn't go as far as honest, clear and open communication with your customers!

Save yourself the hassle and time and don't order from Thrive Market. I made the mistake of signing up to a deal to see if I liked their products. I knew that they would sign me up automatically for their membership but it stated that I could cancel it in the next 30 days and I wouldn't be charged. That's when the trouble began. I started getting inundated with emails. I started with going to their website to cancel my subscription. They didn't cancel it. Instead they started sending me emails - with each consecutive email, a little bit more off the membership price. I kept TRYING to send them emails I wasn't interested and to cancel my subscription, only to not be able to respond to the emails they sent me themselves. Each time, I would have to go back to their website and resend a request and each time I would receive another email with more off the membership price. Finally, I THOUGHT I got the membership cancelled, after 3 or 4 attempts. Low and behold, I open up my credit card statement a month later and THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE MEMBERSHIP! They are unethical and have terrible business practices. The reason I didn't want the membership was because I saw no benefit to it. The prices didn't seem to be that much better from what I could get if I spent a little time looking around. At this point, I phoned them, mad as [redacted]. I have to wait 5-7 business days to get my money back and I REALLY don't trust them to not keep charging me. Why should I? They didn't listen the first 100 times I told them! I will be looking for charge reversal and really keeping an eye out that they don't charge me anymore. What a pain in the [redacted]! Aggressive selling techniques are an incredible turn off. I don't see how this business is going to survive if they keep it up. No one likes it. I get the feeling they just expect that you are going to forget and they will just continue to charge you membership fees. Big thumbs down for this business.

We responded to one of their ads where they offer you a free opportunity to try some of their products. A product my wife knew about and wanted to try. So, she jumped at the opportunity. Ah, but the catch... She didn't read the fine print - the product sample was free with a 30 day trial membership, which if you didn't read the fine print, automatically billed their annual fee in 30 days, unless you cancelled. At 32 days, the annual fee was charged to our account! So, those 6 free bars ended up costing us $10 bucks a piece - definitely not worth it. When we called to question the bill, they basically said 'It sucks to be you - should've read the fine print, is!' From our point of view, if you have to trick people into signing up to your membership, there's something wrong with your business model. Any reputable firm marketing on the internet these days, offers money back guarantees - no questions asked. None of them want to 'force' their potential clients into a membership - but not Thrive! They were not about to surrender any bit of that fee! So, we chalked it up to our stupidity; they kept the full fee to pad their bottomline, and we will never, ever do business with them - ever! As for potential customers - I'd be leery of them. Because if you do not read their fine print, they will not budge, period. That tells me, they're greedy, and money is much more important to them than providing quality products.

I ordered a bag of flour from Thrive Market, as soon as I did I found out that I was on the hook for a membership fee, so I canceled the order within 30 seconds; a week later the bag showed up at the door. I sent Thrive Market 3 more emails telling them to cancel my trial membership; they ignored all three emails and charged my debit card $59.95 a month later.
