Town Fair Tire Centers, Inc. Reviews (78)

I had four new tires installed at the Town Fair Tire store in Hanover Ma on September 4, 2019, under Invoice No. [50872. ]The service was very good and was completed in 30 minutes less time than they had estimated. The gentleman at the counter Jorge, also identified on Invoice as Clerk # 278F was extremely professional and personable. My only comment and its not even really a complaint is that when I returned home, I noticed the invoice included the following statement:" Attention Customer: We gave you the voluntary tire registration form. You must mail the form for the registration to be valid."I DID NOT receive any such form. Aside from the invoice identified above, the only other documents I received were an informational form titled "Tire Maintenance Program" and a sheet of paper containing the results of the front and rear alignments. I just wish to receive the tire registration form referred to on the purchase receipt so that I can register the tires I purchased.
Sincerely
Don DiMarzio

I just wanted to reach out and thank Townfairtire on Daniel Webster HYW in Nashua NH, Nick B my sales associate, was awesome, showed me many different tires that would fit my 2018 Silverado and how the would perform in all conditions. i'm very happy withmy purchase. I went there yesterday to have them change over my new tires that I originally bought from them, to putting on my factory tires and rims. they did everything including reprogramming my TPMS and were very careful not to damage any of my factory chrome rims. Thanks Nick B for your great customer skills and knowledge of the tire industry. George Kypriotes.

Please be advised that the refund was sent again last Thursday 1/30/Customer should have it by nowWe apologize for any delay

Dear Mr. Gallo,
We sincerely apologize you are experiencing an issue with your purchase of the zero pressure [redacted] tires. Your invoice clearly states that the tire purchased does not have road hazard coverage. However if the tire infact has non repairable damage we will...

cover the tire for a 50% courtesy adjustment. We first need to determine why the tire is losing air. Please stop in and see our store manager Paul. He is aware of your issue and will help resolve.
Sincerely, Scott MacPhail VP

I need you the customer to contact my office to get a better understanding of the issue. I can be reached at ###-###-#### my name is Scott. I promise you I will resolve the issue.

Complaint: [redacted]
I do not mind going down their for them to inspect the tire but since I have been blown off three times by the associate [redacted] and the time when I bought these tires I was never told they would have no road hazard, considering you have giant signs in your buildings talking about road hazard this should be explained to the consumer when a tire does not come with it. The tires do say they come with flat repair but [redacted] was very adamant that they can not be repaired without looking at them. If town fair does an inside patch like it claims online it should have no problem repairing a run-flat tire then. Or maybe in general it was poor sealing from the beginning. Either way I do want them looked at but can I trust them to do a good job since so far there has been an extreme lack of communication. As well as since I do work, I can not make it to that location until 5pm m-f or anytime Saturday but I do not want to be stuck without my car all day Saturday like I was when I created an appt for them to be installed that meant nothing when I got there
Sincerely,
Christopher Gallo

We sincerely apologize and will address the deliver and communication issues with this location. I also will see to it we refund the 49.00 alignment fee as it was apparently not explained proerly to you at the time of the sale. We will send a check from here in the home office. Thank tou for your...

feedback.

My husband and I went to Town Fair Tire in Hanover, Ma last week (2/1/18) to get a new tire.Unfortunately the last time I needed a tire replaced I went toTown Fair Tire and my spare/donut was never put back into my car.Of course we discovered this when we tried to change the flat. We had to leave the car jacked up in a snowbank on the side of the road and bring the flat tire/rim into the store to have a new tire put on. There was a tractor trailer truck backed into the only entrance of the store. As my husband walked into the store he was hit by flying tire that was aggressively thrown/rolled from the interior of the truck(all the way inside the truck, near the cab). There was an employee standing inside the store whose job (I assume) was to catch the tire flying out of the back of the truck. He apologized and asked my husband if he was ok. The employee who threw the tire began yelling at my husband that it was his fault he was hit and that he ignored all the warning signs. I went back outside and there was a caution sign on the doors to the back of the truck that was unremarkable enough that we did not see it. There was no employee watching for unknowing pedestrians coming into the store. The sidewalk was not blocked off in any way. There was no caution tape. The other employees inside the store also blamed my husband for being hit by a flying tire. We were upset, understandably so, and words were exchanged. We were then denied service by the employee behind the counter. We had to go to the Town Fair Tire in Plymouth (unfortunately no one else had my tire in stock and we needed it right away). No issues there. I called the corporate offices and was told by Rich that this was NOT the first time an innocent customer was hit by a tire being offloaded from a truck. When asked why their trucks are offloaded this way Rich stated it was for "employee efficiency".

That explains it-money is more important to Town Fair Tire than customer safety!I'm still waiting for a call back from Rich.

Review: I had made an appointment with the [redacted] Town Fair Tire on Monday 9/21/15 to have my flat tire removed off the rim, my spare put back under the vehicle and a new tire put on the rim replacing the flat, having all 4 tires rotated, balanced and aligned. After 3 hours of waiting with my two children (under the age of 4) my vehicle was ready. I paid $223.07, THINKING my car was all set to drive. While walking up to my vehicle I noticed that the tires were NOT rotated. (my front tires have a bald side from driving with it unbalanced). I called as soon as I walked in my house to the corporate office to complain about it. I talked to Rich, he said that he would send me a $70 visa gift card for the service (which I have NOT received) and set me up with another appointment for Saturday at the [redacted] Town Fair Tire to have my tires rotated, balanced and aligned. My husband went and took the vehicle down. Juan, who took my vehicle in, took off some of the covers to my lug-nuts and they were broken. He called my husband back into where the car was and should him the broken lug-nuts, missing lug-nut caps. Said that the cars tires were not rotated or balanced. The last place to work on my vehicle was the [redacted] Town Fair Tire. The [redacted] Town Fair Tire was negligent in their actions. They did not inform me that they had broken lug-nuts on my car. They at the [redacted] Town Fair Tire, knowingly put my children and myself in danger, by not telling me that they had broken lug-nuts and let me drive away.Desired Settlement: I would like the person(s) held accountable for their actions. I would like a refund of all services, gas, and mileage. I do not want any other person going through this issue with having to worry or stress about whether or not their car is safe to drive.

Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

on 2/10/2015 I brought the 4 rims back to town fair tire and spoke to [redacted] about the issue with the rims being damaged due to the tire removal he looked at the rims then he asked if I could leave the rims there because he said he had a friend that works at a auto body shop that he would have them inspected to see what they could do .each rim retails at $180.00 rims all I ask is that the rims get replaced with new ones or repaired back to its 100% condition with no defects on all 4 rims .attached is a invoice

Review: I filed a complaint on 17 March 2014 with Revdex.com #[redacted]. I spoke to Seth from Town Fair and we came to an arrangement that was acceptable to me. I was promised that I would receive all documents we spoke of as well as a refund check no later than two weeks from 18 March 2014. I wish to reopen the claim at this time.Desired Settlement: I was promised a full Town Fair Tire Guarantee as well as documentation for the [redacted] tire Rebate. Review: I bought a set of four [redacted] michelin primacy [redacted]n 11/09/13 with the internet service package. I was told and my receipt states it that my tires include flat repairs. I was never told my specific tires do not include road hazard considering town fair advertises their tires include road hazard. On december 26th I went into your [redacted] ct location (where they installed the tires) because my right front tire was losing air. I was told by the rep name [redacted] that he had to look into road hazard on my tires and would call me back the next day due to it was late and michelin was closed. Now mind you, they never even looked at why my tire was going so low on air. The next day came and went and no call. Even the following week came and went and I just kept putting air in my tire every few days. On January 7th I called the location and they said mike was busy and he would call me back. He never called again so finally fed up I went into the location on Monday the 13th and spoke to someone at the desk who immediatly grabbed mike instead of trying to help me and mike proceeded to tell me there is no road hazard. still without looking at my tire as to why it is loosing air and seemingly not caring that he is not even trying to help a customer.Desired Settlement: I would like my tire replaced or repaired but by a different location because I can not trust the [redacted] location if they allow a person like mike to work their that does not help customers and just keeps ignoring them.

Review: Bought a set of [redacted] from the Cranston town fair tire, 4 days later there was a gash on the tire between the thread and sidewall. Their website states they offer a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. [redacted] also offers a 30 day manufacturers warranty. The store manager refuses to honor the store warranty and the manufacturers warranty, he also refused to refund me or offer any free replacement of the tire. They had also charged me twice on a single purchase, which caused me to have a negative balance on my bank account for the past week. Which in turn didn't allow me to have enough money to purchase the road hazard warranty.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the defective tire replaced, and would want the road hazard warranty included, for the time and suffering of having no access to my bank account or money all week due to their mistake.

Response:

To Whom It May concern; This is the first we are hearing for Mr. [redacted] issue. Unfortunately a ripped or gashed tire is the result of a road hazard That particular tire we don't offer a free road hazard on. It would have been offered as an option at the time of purchase. Mr. [redacted] opted not to purchase the warranty. [redacted] doesn't cover any road hazard at all regardless of time. Their manufacturer's warranty covers workmanship only. As for our 30 day test drive the tires must be returned undamaged in exchange for a different set. At this point we will gladly replace the tire as a one time courtesy however it would be up to Mr. [redacted] to purchase the road hazard if he would like the coverage.Sincerely,Rich Al[redacted] Town Fair Tire

Business

Response:

To Whom It May Concern; As stated we in previous response we will gladly cover the tire. If Mr. [redacted] already replaced the tire we will gladly reimburse him for the replacement. As for the road hazard given the earlier issue he experienced we will gladly give him the coverage as a courtesy starting from the original purchase dat.Sincerely,Rich A[redacted]Town Fair Tire

I am rejecting this response because: I had already been charged another $160 for my own replacement tire and the road hazard coverage. Apparently at the "kindness of the managers heart" that I'm lucky that they had even offered the 50% off discount on the new replacement.

Review: Saturday, November 23rd I got a flat tire and had AAA come to tow my car([redacted]s C280 4-matic) to Town Fair Tire, per the mechanic's recommendation. When I arrived the sales representative came out to look at my car, glanced at it one time and said "Because your car is a 4-matic you have to buy 4 new tires." The tires that were on my car were purchased, brand-new, three months earlier and had less than 8,000 miles of ware on them. After I explained this to the sales rep, he said that it was standard policy everywhere that they could only sell me 4 new tires, because of liability issues. I felt that this was an unfair solution and said that I don't feel this makes sense as these tires are practically new. Since I have just moved to the area and have nobody to that could take me to another tire store, I felt as though I was pressured into this only solution. Since I felt I had no other choice, I bought 4 new tires and decided to get a second opinion on Monday when other stores would be open. I called 3 other tire retailers and they all agreed that with minimal wear on the tires, I would have been ok to have only put on one new tire. I even took the old tires along with the new tires to another retailer(AAA approved) to have them show me why I needed 4 new tires and they measured the tread depth of the old tires and showed me that it was less than 1mm difference in the tread depth and that the three additional new tires were unnecessary. On November 30th, I called the Town Fair Tire where I purchased the tired to speak with the manager to see if he could offer any resolution and he couldn't. He said that it doesn't matter if the previous tires were new, they wouldn't sell me less than four. I told him I was unsatisfied and wanted to return them and he informed me that I could not return them as they had already been mounted. He was unable to provide any solution that seemed somewhat reasonable and fair.Desired Settlement: I would like to either return the 3 tires I felt I was forced to purchase, for a refund. Or, if you still require that I can only buy 4 tires, I would like to return all 4 tires and take my business to a place that will sell me tires(1 or 2) based on what the car needs.

Response:

Dear Brittany,

The [redacted] 4matic requires 4 matching branded tires and size match. When you came to our location with an unrepairable tire due to a road hazard the brand on your car was not available. If we had the brand in stock it would be no issue. Anbody that tells you you can put an odd brand on the vehicle would cause a larger issue with your transmission. If they or you are willing to take the chance they are welcome to do so. It has nothing to do with amount of wear on the tire. Differences in rolling circumferences between different bransds of tires is the issue. If you are able to locate a matching tire with the other 3 I will certainly authorize a refund on the original purchase. Please contact [redacted]l in our West Hartford location.

I had found some great tires for my car, [redacted]. Town Fair Tire showed a good price on their web page, so I sent my wife to pick them up. Now, this is the third time that Town Fair tried to charge a higher price in store than they list on their web page, so the pattern says that they are clearly doing a bait and switch. They charged my wife $10 a tire more than their web-page prices. Still, they claim to have an after-sale lowest-price guarantee, so this should be fixable, right?
So, I went to the store to pick up my tires, and asked about the lowest-price guarantee, hoping to at least get them to honor their own prices. The person helping me was giving me a hard time about this, saying things like my wife wanting the tires quickly and that they had to get them from another dealer, blah, blah, so the price was higher and despite what was printed on the receipt, he didn't think that they should give me their own lower price. None of this was said to my wife when she simply went into the store and ordered tires.
After 20 minutes of arguing with this guy, I finally just wanted to get out of there, so I told him that I was giving up and that he had won. I was going to pay the price, not ask them to honor their lowest-price guarantee and simply write reviews on a few consumer web sites. Surprisingly, rather than accepting his win graciously, he now started a new argument that he was going to honor the price after all. I didn't want to do that any more, I just wanted the tires on my car and the right to tell people about the bait and switch. The manager got involved, and all I wanted him to do was to tell his staff to just put the tires on the car and let me go away. I did NOT want to have to tell this tale blow by blow, but this guy chewed up another 20 minutes of my time, again not wanting me to just get the tires on the car, but now that they knew I was going to review their policies, wanted to argue longer and longer, making me later and later getting back to work. It is clear that they do NOT listen to what their customers say or want.
The bigger issue is the bait and switch policy. This is the third time the store tried to charge a higher retail price than their web page, although in the other cases, I knew the web page price, had a printout of it, so they didn't complete the bait and switch. My wife didn't know the web price, so they gouged her the measly $20 for two tires.
If you do business with Town Fair, find a different store than West Hartford, and go to the web page first, look up the tires by brand and then scroll down to find your size, or the best prices do NOT show up. Then, print out the price and do not fall for their bait and switch pricing. And if anyone from Town Fair corporate read this, please do NOT contact me about this, as I do NOT want to have to spend any more time. Although I have 3 vehicles with all 4 tires bought from Town Fair, to the tune of about $1800 including all fees and taxes, I will NOT be doing any more business with a bait and switch company that wants to turn customer contact in an argument.
