Universal Recovery Corporation Reviews (72)

Review: [redacted] a representative from Universal Recovery in Sacramento is calling me at work and is calling and harassing my HR department at work and sending faxes. This involves a debt that is in dispute and is over 4 years old from D[redacted] in Discovery Bay. His tactics are intimidation and harassment. My HR department called me and asked who the jerk was calling them and intimidating them. This is harassment and is taking time away from myself and the people I work with.Desired Settlement: I would like them to stop calling and involving my HR department at work and calling me on my work number while I am trying to work. I feel this is an intimidation tactic that is taking time away from me and others at work.

Response:

We received the account for collection on 2/27/15. A series of 4 letter were sent with no response. as well as several phone calls. At no time did Mr. [redacted] request no more calls at work. I will take this complaint as his request for no more calls at work. The date of last payment was 9/2014 and the date of last charge was 1/2015, so the debt is within the statute of limitations. See Attached.Mr. [redacted] sent over a verification of employment, which is required before he requests to proceed with further collection activity. No information was disclosed.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: Not once have a received a letter from this company nor have I ever spoken to a representative from this company. My first contact with them was today at work from a very rude [redacted] who tried to verbally intimidate me and bully my HR department. My HR department has been instructed to not take his call or anyone else's from this company or anything related to this issue as it is considered corporate harassment. These bully tactics fall in line with every [redacted] review on this company and considering there have been 31 registered complaints with the Revdex.com, I would hope something more might be done to stop these individuals from bullying and intimidating people.

Review: I recently seen on my credit report that I owe this money company which stated a specific amount and when I called to see if I could work out something. The company right off the back was rude. The first lady asked for my information and as I spoke to give her the information she stated, "wait, stop talking," cut me off and then transferred me. As that was not enough I thought okay maybe the next person will be better. And to my surprise was not. As I asked about account info and discussed the matter with her she stated " Whatever, well I'm not the person with the debt and did receive the letter and did not pay it." I was shocked by how rude and impolite they were and how they treat people. So as I requested to speak to a manager or supervisor she transferred me. And once again the manager as well was rude and stated if I didn't pay it they would just charge me more interest and it was none of their concern. As I stated I wanted to speak with someone less hostile and rude. She stated "Well there is no one above me and I then owner so you won't get very far." This company was just plan unprofessional and rude to the fact that I just was to pay it and work something out. I was so appalled by their customer service I just hung up.Desired Settlement: I would like an adjustment and better service. Also something doneabout the rude service and things this company seems to say to people just trying to recovery and resolve issues.

Response:

We sent a series of 4 letters to Ms. [redacted] which we received no response. We called the number she gave our client as her contact number and left 2 messages there, wit no response. It was a business. Ms. [redacted] was demanding that we remove the interest that had accrued on the account and became angry when we wouldn't. Our staff is professional, yet firm. She can cal the office and speak directly to me to resolve the issue if she would like.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:I was never given professional courtesy throughout the whole phone call from the first person all the way to the third women who stated, she owned the company. As even in the response she gave above she gave no contact info to respond to her. Such an agency should have their phone calls monitored, this would have been a great solution to their terrible service towards people. I'm sure if this was done it would show I was never rude or angry with this collection agency I was just questioning them. I realize they are a Collection agency but at the same time they need to treat customers with dignity and respect. I have also contacted the FDCPA regarding this company's professionalism and collection practices. And for the matter of them stating I was angry, I was never angry I just requested they do not speak to me in such an absurd matter and that I was not informed of the interest. I seen the company on my credit history, I then searched the internet for their information to get in contact with them about the collection and offered to pay the amount stated on my credit history at the time. She then stated I owed more then what was state on my history. I stated well I was informed otherwise of the amount and I don't feel I should be charged an amount more then what was stated on the report. She told me I had no choice in paying it and she was the only above others to handle this matter, even about the terrible service.

Review: This company popped on my credit report in 2014 for a company I had in 2010. I was never contacted before hand. The company was an insurance company that they claimed I owed a fee to once I cancelled my insurance policy. I never received a letter in the mail or any type of notice. I paid the amount on my report because it was a collections account and it negatively affected my score but I was told once I pay it would fall off my report. Since I've paid I've had no luck contacting this company or speaking to anybody and the account is still on my report as a collections account.Desired Settlement: I would like this account removed from my credit report as promised. I would also like more information on the particular insurance account they claimed it derived from.

Response:

The account was assigned to us in September, 2014 for collection. A series of 4 letters were sent, none of which were returned to us, advising of the debt. There was no response to any of those letters. Before assigning the account to us, my client as well sent a series of letters, with no response.Ms. [redacted] paid her balance in full on 1/28/15. Her account wil be updated with the credit bureau to reflect a paid in full status. We don't remove from the credit bureau.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I never received any letters from the original insurance company or this collection agency. When were these letters sent? How come I wasn't notified once I cancelled my insurance of a payment due? I'm active duty military and I have been since 2009 I move around alot, but I've never received any notification. I also only agreed to pay the full balance of the account because it was a negative account on my credit report that was in collections and I was told it would be remove If I pay it in full. Now I can't even get someone on the phone to discuss a promise that was made to me by one of their employees. I've never even heard of the company H H agency before and that was considered the original company on the credit report. There are several individuals who have the sa me issue with this company.

Review: Hello,

I have recently moved out of my home unexpectedly. I had a 40.00 check returned last month. I have made a few attempts to contact [redacted] with the issue. The owner [redacted] gave me the number to call. I called twice and left a message in a general mail box twice as well. I had no call back. I then reached back out to [redacted] at [redacted] in Benicia @[redacted]. He said he would call for me. Today I received a very disturbing call. They were yelling, cutting me off when I was trying to explain my circumstance of moving from the address on the check. I do have proof from the US Postal service of my address change. He harassed me telling me he knows it is not the first time I have bounced a check. He laughed at me. He told me the check went from 40.00 to 160.00 and insisted he sent me a notice, which I have never got. Im so distraught over the way I was harassed while at work that I was in the point of tears. This doesn't seem legal to me. I reviewed the reviews online about this company and it appears they harass many people. I would like to pay my debt along with the fee for the returned check. No Problem, but I never received a letter to add 120.00. Can you please help?Desired Settlement: I would like to pay the check amount plus NSF fee only. I am a single mom with a medical condition as well and do not deserve this kind of harassing calls.

The account has been cancelled back to my client at my clients request.

Review: I have asked multiple times for this company to email or mail me copies of the bills they have in their possession. They tell me over and over what the bills are but, refuse to re-send me copies because, as the company stated, they sent me a bill in 2011 and 2012 so they should not have to send them again. They do tell you that "per their notes" that they send these copies to me every time I request them but, I have received only one of the three bills and as of today, they will not re-send the other two. I have also been extremely harassed by the unit supervisor who repeatedly told me to respect my elders after she asked me if my mother taught to me to respect my elders and my mother died in 2013. She continued to yell at me telling me to respect my elders which caused me to become extremely sad due to the slander on my mother. I continually told her that I was requesting her to send me copies of the bills and she told me that she was not obligated to send them to me.Desired Settlement: If these bills are truly bills that I need to pay, I would like all copies of the bills and any other information requested that I may need. I also request that whomever I handle this situation with is an individual that can treat me with respect and not harass, slander, or in any way make me feel as though I am being mistreated.

Business

Response:

Every time Ms. [redacted] has requested an itemized statement, it has been sent to her.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I have requested statements for the two larger bills each time I call and the business responds stating they are not obligated to send me the statements because they have sent them in 2011 and 2012. They bullied me into giving my debit card information. After doing so, the representative told me the different fees associated with the different payment methods. I was already sobbing and upset because of the poor and rude treatment, I gave my routing and account information because the fee was cheaper. After getting off the phone, I contacted my banker and he advised me to close my account because I was not provided any documentation to what I was being charged for and because after explaining the situation to them, this business was not proven trustworthy due to refusal of providing documentation.

Business

Response:

We have complied each time Ms. [redacted] requested an itemized breakdown. Due to HIPPA laws, I cannot provide the information to the Revdex.com. Ms. [redacted] is more than welcome to come into the office and pick them up. Our address is 2880 Sunrise Blvd, Suite 136 ~ Rancho Cordova, CA. 95742.

I just noticed I have a $53 delinquent account for this company. I have no idea what this is for or why it's reported on my credit report. I've never been contacted to towards this amount. Whoever this company is needs to stop just reporting things on my credit history. I'd like to know what or why this amount is shown on my report

Review: I was made aware of a collections issue on my credit report about a year ago and in April of this year decided to contact the company and pay it off since it was such a small amount ,63.00 I called Universal Recovery and was transfered to a rep and stated I wanted to pay the 63.00.She asked a few questions to locate my file and told me that the amount due was almost 85.00. I asked why the difference and thats when the conversation turned hostile. She told me that interest had been added Since I was still not aware of the original creditor I asked if I had an agreement with them to pay interest and she basically called me stupid and said I should read things before I sign them.I asked who the creditor was and was told [redacted] auto insurance.I said I was not aware I owed them anything and asked if I had ever been sent anything she said Universal Recovery policy is to only send one bill. I did not recieve it and asked if I could be sent a new statement with the interest charges on it and was told they are not going to waste trees. I was transfered without permission to a supervisor that told me the same thing and that she didnt care if I paid it or not. After a few othe staements were made I disconnected the call and decided to deal directly with [redacted]. I spoke to a woman named [redacted] She was very nice and when I explained the situation to her she said if I could find my account number with them I could make paymentof the 63.00 and they would remove the claim from Universal. I found an old statement and was sent the original lewtter from insurance with cancellation fee on it so sent the form and a check to [redacted] on 4-26-15 two weeks latter I recieved aenvelope from permant general with my uncashed check and a post it note stating the case was closed in 2012. Since [redacted] does not want the money I would like this matter resolved. I am willing to pay if they (Recovery) will send proof that I owe fee and interest chargesDesired Settlement: I would like a copy of original letter they claim they sent also a new statement showing exactly what I owe also included with the statement proof that they are legally allowed to charge interest on an account without properly notifiying the consumer and lastly since I have proof the permanent general does not want the money, I would like this removed from my credit report.

Response:

We received the account from our client for collections on 2/27/12. We did not purchase this debt. That same day, the 1st demand letter was generated followed by the 2nd demand on 3/26/12 and the 3rd and final on 6/11/12. None of these letters were returned to us.On 3/8/12 & 3/26/12 a phone call was made and messages were left with no return phone call. The account was deemed "non responsive" and set aside. It was reported to the credit bureau to which we report on 6/12/12.On 4/28/15, Ms. [redacted] called into our office. She was advised of the steps taken to contact her, with no response. She was also advised that in absence of a contract stating a specific amount, the legal maximum interest rate was 8%. Her balance reflects interest from the date of last charge, which is 11/19/11. Interest accrues daily. As of today, her principle balance is $66.24, interest of $25.59 for a total due of $91.83. This was not reported to her credit in error, therefore it cannot be removed.

Review: Rude threats. They didn't want to listen to what I was telling them. Not everyone immediately asks when payday is when they are first hired.

Speaking with [redacted] & [redacted], I was telling them that I had not received anything from them in the last 3 years regarding this debt. I was just starting a new job on Monday and wasn't comfortable giving them the company name. I told them that I was losing other things in my household which also included possibly my phone and my vehicle. They said if I didn't want to comply then they would find my husbands work and go that route. I told them they will have to wait in line because he has child support and we have an IRS debt. I have no problems making payments to resolve this when given the right information, a little understanding (I haven't worked in 2 years), and no attitude from them. Desired Settlement: I want a breakdown of the accounts they have.

And I will start making payments on this account.

Response:

Initial Business Response

Validation and a breakdown of the charges were sent to her in 2010, when she first requested them.

She refused to update any information or set up a payment plan.....a payment plan is given if the debtor meets certain criteria, which she refused to give. Until such info is supplied, we can't assess the situation nor offer a payment plan.

Review: I am writing a complaint about Universal RecoveryCorporation in Rancho Cordova, California.I received a letter from Universal Recovery Corporationdated September 23, 2014 (see attached page 1) on or about October 3, 2014. Itwas sent to an address that I no longer reside at so it took longer for me toget it. I immediately called them but was unable to reach anyone. I called Stimes that day with no luck (see attached page 2-3). I went out of town thefollowing week and was unable to call them again until I returned. I calledthem on October 13, 2014 (see page 4) and was able to finally get through to someone.I wasn’t sure who the original creditor was and was informed it was [redacted] (my car Insurance carrier). I still had no idea what this was for andtold the lady I was speaking to that I would like to call [redacted] and find outwhat this was for and then I would call them back. She was rude and told mewell that’s your prerogative. Of course I did not want to pay for somethingthat I had no idea what It was for so I hung up and called [redacted]informed me that it was a cancelation fee for cancelling early from November24, 2009 (they wouldn’t cover one of my cars so had no choice but to cancel)and that they had sent me one bill that stated “You will receive no othercorrespondence ”regarding this matter. The address they had on file was nolonger my address so I did not receive this letter from them. They stated theyattempted to call twice but the phone number was disconnected. They turned thedebt over to Universal Recovery Corporation in December 2011. I calledUniversal Recovery Corporation back and spoke with Mrs. [redacted]. I explained toher that this was a good debt and that I wanted to pay t but did not have themoney at that time. Originally she told me the amount I owed was more than whatwas showing on the letter but agreed to settle it for the amount that was on myletter. Apparently they had already added more interest since they sent theletter. She asked me If I could make a good faith payment and set up a debitfor a future date for the remaining amount. I said yes and gave her my debitcard info and she charged my card $25.00 (their authorization number [redacted] seeattached page 5). I gave her a different debit card (ending In [redacted]) andauthorized her to charge the remaining amount, which she told me was $214.94,on November 13, 2014 (30 days later). I ended up calling a day early (November12, 2014) and paid the remaining balance with my [redacted] card (seepage 6). On November 13, 2014 I received a notification that this collectionwas reported to my credit on November 4, 2014 (when I had a payment arrangementalready set up to pay off the balance). I called and spoke with Mrs. [redacted] andasked why this was reported to my credit if we had a payment arrangement set upand she advised me that I would need to speak with her supervisor, [redacted]. I asked if there were notes in the computer/file that stated I had thearrangement and my debit card info so that when I talked with her supervisorshe would be able to see them. She reluctantly said yes and then transferred meto her supervisor’s extension and I left a message. I called three more timesthat day before I was able to get ahold of her (see page 7). As soon as [redacted] got on the phone she had an attitude, like I was bothering her. Iexplained to her that I had made payment arrangements and had given my debitcard and authorization to charge my card at a later date but they had stillreported this debt to the credit bureau. She told me I had never given them mydebit card info and authorization to charge my card and when I argued that Ihad she then said Well you gave it to us (but you authorized the charge) for 30days later. It’s not coming off your credit”. I asked who her supervisor wasbecause it was obvious she didn’t care that I had made an attempt in a timelymatter to take care of this and she said in a snotty tone “I’m looking and Idon’t see anyone above me and if you don’t believe me you can call back and ask.I was very frustrated and after several minutes of arguing with her about howlong it took me to respond to this letter and how long it took me to pay It offand that I should have paid it years ago, I called her a bh and hung up. Ichecked on google to see who the CEO of the company was and read several complaintsabout the company and also some specifically about her.My complaint is as follows. Universal Recovery Corporationreceived this debt in 2011 and it took them almost three years to send meanything regarding this. I had to call them several times before I was able toget through and once I finally did I made a good faith payment and set up apayment arrangement that guaranteed the payment of the balance in full with anach withdrawal at a near future date and I even called a day early and paid itoff. How can they argue I took too long to take care of this so they arereporting It to my credit when they took three years to even notify I set up the payment arrangement within alittle less than three weeks of the date of the letter. And as of today’s date,December 2, 2014 I have yet to receive the letter that I was promised by Mrs.[redacted] that I would receive In 7-10 days that this has been paid In full. It Isalso as of today’s date still showing as open on my credit and not paid infull. I want this removed from my credit as I feel I acted with integrity topay this off in a timely manner. I made a good faith payment and gave them mydebit card info to charge the remaining balance on. Where is their good faithwhen they set up payment arrangements and don’t send the paperwork they haveagreed to send saying this Is paid off and still report to the credit bureau? Theyhaven’t even notified the credit bureaus this Is paid. This company hashorrible standards, customer service, ethics and morals. Had I known that thegood faith payment and payment arrangements I made meant nothing to them andthis was going to be reported to my credit anyway I would have never paid themin such a timely fashion.Any help in resolving this matter would be greatlyappreciated.Desired Settlement: I would like this removed from my credit

Response:

Our client assigned this account to us on 9/23/2014 - not 12/2011, hence the reason her letter was dated 9/23/14. The debt originated in 11/09. The account was uploaded to [redacted] on 11/4/14. The consumer was advised that without payment in full, it would be reported to her credit report. The upload to reflect a paid in full status was uploaded to [redacted] on 12/1/14.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I made a good faith payment and gave them my debit card info and told them to charge the remaining balance at a letter date. Yes, I was advised that if payment was not received in full that it would be reported to my credit. But Mrs. [redacted] suggested that for payment in full I could make a good faith payment and give them my debit card info and authorization to charge the remaining balance at a later date. I complied with what she was suggesting. And considered it a resolved issue as of that date since they would just charge my card on the date I authorized and there would not be any further communication/payment necessary when I hung up from that call. This was less than 30 days from the date of initial letter. This company does not do what they say. I still have not received my letter that shows this was paid. I should have received it last month. I would like Revdex.com to investigate this further with [redacted] agency ([redacted]) because I have called them on three different occasions and have been informed this was written off and turned over to universal recovery corporation in December 31, 2011. Not September 23, 2014 as they claim.

Business

Response:

It wasn't paid in full before the credit reporting happened and there was no guarantee the credit card charge would go through the day it was authorized. A new paid in full letter was generated today.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: it was unethical and malicious to report this before the charge had a chance to go through. I was mislead to believe by giving them my debit card info this would not be reported. There was no reason to assume my charge wouldn't go through and the ethical thing for them to do would have been to wait till after the date of our arrangement to see if it would or wouldn't go through.

Review: Attn: Universal Reovery , Re : Ac# [redacted], I HEREBY DECLARE MY INTENT TO SUE , To whom it may concern, The last correspondence I sent you company on 10-1-2014 pertained to a demand for validation. Your company has failed to provide me validation of the account and at the same time persevered with reporting the account on my credit report. This is a blatant violation of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA Sec 809). Hence, I hereby declare my intent to bring suit against your company under the regulations, due to your continued collection activity and failure to remove the account from my credit report. .Desired Settlement: I am allowing you a period of 14 days to remove the account from my credit report, after which I will pursue this matter in California Superior Court. I have already notified the California Attorney's General of this issue and will take this up with the [redacted] if you fail to act.

Business

Response:

This account was assigned to us for collection on 3/30/12. It was reported to the credit bureau on 5/11/12. It was paid in full on 8/14/12. There has been no request for validation received.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: Attacehed is the letter that was mailed on October 2nd, it was delivered at your Rancho Cordova office at 1:16pm on October 6th 2014

Business

Response:

Attached are the itemized statement Mr. [redacted] has requested. The attachments are also being sent via certified mail. Both [redacted] accounts are paid in full. The [redacted]., account is still outstanding.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: The attached statements show that there was an adjustment to zero out the balance, hence no payment was owed by me. This account therefore needs to be deleted from my credit report

Business

Response:

The balance due is zero because he paid it! He paid it 3 months after it was reported to his credit report. Once it's placed on their credit they pay it, it will show as paid in full, it doesn't get removed.

Review: I decided to get a copy of my credit report, and I noticed that I had a (small)bill from a company by the name of Universal Recovery Corporation. When I contacted the corporation, I left plenty of messages for the manager to return my phone call, but she never returned the call. When I finally had the opportunity to speak with the manager, she was EXTREMELY unprofessional. She then told me that I was not supposed to contact the company and stated "you will deal directly with me". I was extremely professional with this lady as she continued to state the following: "I don't have time for this", "hurry up", "what do you need to know about this bill". I was so shocked that I even asked the manager if she needed prayer, and I was simply trying to get to the bottom of this 68 dollar bill from 2008. I then asked her if I could receive a copy of the bill, so I proceeded to give her my address, when she cut me off by saying more rude things. I was astounded at the fact that I have NEVER spoken to anyone so rude as, so I called back to ask the customer service representative if I could speak to [redacted] manager. The customer service representative then stated to me that the lady [redacted] was the manager. I paid the balance on the website and called back to see if I could get a copy of the receipt, and it has yet to be mailed to me as promised. I also had the opportunity to review the code of ethics for this company, and they have violated their own code. I later decided to call the company that I owed the money to and they apologized for the unprofessional comments and attitude of the manager at Universal Recovery Corporation. They also stated that I never received a copy of the letter, because I no longer worked in that school district. After perusing a plethora of reviews for this company, someone really needs to do something, because the practices of this company are unethical. I also had the opportunity to view California's bullying laws and the manager of this company is definitely a bully.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a paid in full receipt letter from this company.

Business

Response:

The conversation was not even close to the way Ms. [redacted] discribed as it was I that she spoke with. Regardless, the paid in full letter was generated on 2/11/14, after her payment posted. I don't show any mail return, so I assume the letter made it to it's destination.

Most collection agencies are going to get bad reviews as we are a collection agency. No one wants to hear from us because if they are in collections, they are having financial difficulties and no one wants to have financial difficulties, let alone be called to pay their outstanding balances. No matter how the calls are handled, we are always always the bad guy.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

By reviewing the message from Universal Recovery, one can see that there are contradictions. The company never called me, I called them as I saw that the account was listed on my credit report. In addition, the company stated in the complaint that "it doesn't matter how the calls are handled", but it does matter how the calls are handled. It should be handled with professionalism, especially if the customer has greeted the creditor with professionalism. It seems as if there are a plethora of issues with this company, and that is why there are many complaints in reference to "ethical dilemmas". By reading some of the other complaints with this company, I knew that "she", the manager, was going to say that the call was not handled in a rude manner, but the contradiction at the end of the response states otherwise "it did not matter how the call was handled" (blatant contradiction). Ironically, I have no need to make up a story or have an attitude for a $68.00 bill that was 7 years old. I just want to make sure that others in the future are treated with respect. If this company violates its own ethical codes the it should be shut down.

Plus, let me reiterate, I called them as they did not call me. Furthermore, the manager was so beligerent that she was heard through the phone, using unprofessional words. I was so astounded at the fact that the manager of the company was talking in such a manner. By browsing through the other complaints, I do notice that there have been issues in the past where the company has "claimed" to have mailed in a letter but the customer never received the letter. I have not received a letter from this company, and would like to receive a letter indicating that the account was paid in full. It was just so sad that the orginial creditor for this account apologized to me for the disrespect and unprofessionalism of this company. Also, one can also look at the professional effort of the company as major errors were noticed in the response to the complaint that I submitted to Revdex.com. I have dealt with other creditors in the past, and they have been wonderful as they are examples of professionalism. Once again, I would really like for this company to face their lies, and maybe then, the company can flourish professionally.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

In 2009, when we received the account from our client, a series of 4 letters were sent, with no mail return on any of the letters. The notes indicate that there were no less than 5 phone call attempts. With a balance of $78.00, collection efforts were considered exhausted and the account was set to report to the credit bureau. Once Ms. Cater-Williams found it on her credit report, she called in to pay it.

The conversation was not even close to the way Ms. [redacted] discribed as it was I that she spoke with. Regardless, the paid in full letter was generated on 2/11/14, after her payment posted. I don't show any mail return, so I assume the letter made it to it's destination.

In general, most collection agencies are going to get bad reviews as we are a collection agency. No one wants to hear from us because if they are in collections, they are having financial difficulties and no one wants to have financial difficulties, let alone be called to pay their outstanding balances. No matter how the calls are handled, we are always always going to be the bad guy.

Review: I don't believe that this is a legitimate and valid debt. I never received a bill from [redacted], stating I was negligent in payment. [redacted] from Universal Recovery Corporation informed that I was past due on bill from 11/02/12 and 5/17/13. This is the first time that I have any knowledge of it.Desired Settlement: I don't want these charges. I was a great customer.

Review: In 2009 my residence was burglarized. Personal checks were stolen and forged at various grocery stores and [redacted] stores. A check for 80 dollars was forged to [redacted] in [redacted] 11/09. Without authorization from [redacted], ( and I have the emails to prove it), Universal Recovery tried to collect from me, the victim, on this check. Universal Recovery was told by [redacted] to cease and desist any and all collections on their behalf and remove them from their database pronto. Problem is Universal filed a negative report with the credit bureaus and is refusing to remove it. I think a lawsuit is in order for these losers. And like the others have experienced, the lunatic who calls herself [redacted] was an abusive witch.Desired Settlement: I want my credit report cleared of this nonsense and I want 5000 dollars for damaging my credit.

Response:

The account was assigned in 2009 - with no one ever making us aware that it was fraud until March 5, 2014. Our client, if they knew about the fraud, never notified us until this year. Once we were made aware of the fraud and the account was closed, a Universal Data Form was sent to the credit bureau to which we report to have the account deleted.

I have never spoken with this individual, but the notes indicate that she that she called here and spoke with Ms. [redacted]. There was no attempt to collect from her. We requested documentation that the debt was fraud, but she refused to supply that information.

The neccessary steps have already been taken to remove this from her credit report.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

I have not received proof from Universal Recovery that All credit bureaus have been sent documentation explaining that the debt was never mine And to remove their bogus claim from my credit report. Until I have the proof, I will continue to take a proactive adversarial approach to this situation. I believe what they have done is illegal and I will contact the District Attorneys office. As they have admitted, Universal Recovery never contacted me to try and collect. Losers screwed with my credit. That's unacceptable.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

Unfortunately, all correspondence with the credit bureau is done online - therefore there is no record of the removal.

Review: I had an eviction take place in March of 2013 and the judge ordered me to pay $5,349 which the management company was actually trying to sue for over 9000 dollarsbut the judge only ordered me to pay the actual amount of the rent that is dueand I'm willing to pay that but now a collection agency has the case and they're trying to say I still owe over $9000 even though we have already went to court about this matter. Im trying to make payment arrangements but im so confused on who to pay and why two different people have the case and why the amount has changed back to the origonal amount they tried to claim I owed..they are threatening to place it on my credit but the courts already have it on my credit as a public record account ..Desired Settlement: I just want to pay the amount the judge ordered me to pay and make sure it goes to the right person and for the collection agency to leave me alone and stop threatening to place it on my credit report as if it were a separate account we have already went to court for it so that's all I should have to payand I want to know who is the correct person I should be paying it to

Response:

Ms. [redacted] has 2 separate accounts with our office. My client is the Plantiff in the eviction, the 1st account. The eviction money Judgment was for back rent only. The Judgment ordered her to move from the premises and entered a money Judgment for $5349.00 plus costs. Post Judgment interest has been added as is allowed by law. The 2nd account: After the Defendant vacated the premises, my client had to repair, clean, etc., the apartment for the next tenants. This was not a part of the eviction/back rent Judgment. My client has the right to assign the account to an outside collection agency to collect on their behalf, which they have done. Any arrangements Ms. [redacted] wishes to make should be directed to our office. Our client will only refer her here if she contacts them.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I do not agree that I owe that money. The apartment was in better condition when I left it than when I got it.. they did not paint did not change blinds did not clean carpets did not even vacuum or clean the apartment at all . the Windows were sealed shut and the whole apartment was a disaster. The person that came to remove my belongins did not take the belongings he only took a matress and boxspring. He gave away.and they did not professional clean the apartment either where are the receipts for all this fake charges she is making up my couch to thw the downstairs neighbor and left a crate of my pictures outside .. I have plenty of witnesses that will tell you the same thing

Response:

Attached is the move out calculation provided to Ms. [redacted] and any other tenants. This was sent to her shortly after moveout. If Ms. [redacted] can provide any documentation that she had the premises cleaned and repaired, please provide that and I will forward it to my client for review. However, please note that the eviction happened in April 2013..... Why was this not disputed before?

Review: Dear Revdex.com,I received a call from Universal Recovery Corporation on Friday, October 24, 2014 with a message from [redacted] stating that she needed me to call her back; so I did, and she proceeds to tell me that we owe $208.26 to this corporation because were sent to debt collections by Dashers Insurance for not canceling our auto insurance policy in January 2010. We were with Dashers and called to cancel our policy because we were moving to Louisiana. We picked an effective cancel date, and got coverage in Louisiana. [redacted] told us that they received this from Dashers on September 24, 2014. Therefore, we called Dashers and they said they sent this to Universal Recovery in 2011; so they have no idea why they would only be contacting us now, almost five years later. Furthermore, we inquired for Dashers to send us info that shows they sent this to them four years ago. Dasher's, as well as lawyers that I spoke with, have never hear of this and think it completely against the law. With all of this, [redacted] proceeded to tell us that we have accumulated interest on this so we actually owe more than what we owed to Dashers Insurance.California Law Statutes of Limitation for Written Agreements: 4 years calculated from the date of breach. Universal refused to send an email stating the amount that we owed and they said that they sent a written letter on September 24, 2014 to our address before we moved 5 years ago. When I asked for them to send something to our current address so I could have some sort of verification to who I am sending money to, they were very hesitant. These people were the rudest people I have ever dealt with, refused to help in any way, and threatened that if we didn't pay it by the end of the day, it would go straight to our credit. They are ruthless and unethical. As much as I did not want to pay this because I think it is a scam, I also didn't want to hurt my credit. Therefore, I decided to pay it and then deal with it so my credit stayed protected.Desired Settlement: After being investigated by Revdex.com, if this is a scam, or even ethical to address four years later and ask for immediate payment as rude as this company was, I would like a refund of the $208.26.

Response:

The account was indeed sent to us on 9/23/14. Our 1st notice was generated that day to the address supplied by our client. No mail has been returned.

I spoke directly with Mr. [redacted] yesterday and advised I would generate another letter to his current address in LA. That should go out with 24 hours.

The policy cancelled for non payment in 2010. Our client sent it to us for collections and it was uploaded into our system on 9/23/14. The Statute of Limitations to sue on a breach of contract has expired - Credit reporting is up to 7 years.

My client has informed me that they made several attempts to notify Mr. [redacted] of his outstanding balance, to no avail.

As of this date, the account remains unpaid.

Review: I am not even sure who or what this company is, I just looked at my credit score and history online and there is an $82 charge that went into collections, to a business named [redacted] then transferred over to whoever [redacted] is, and all this happened on 06/12/2012.I have no idea what this is, why I owe it, and I mean come on, the balance is $80, I would love to pay this thing off and have it removed from my credit history...but I would like to know what the heck this is and WHY is it on my credit history? No phone number or address provided to me. I never received a letter in the mail for ANYTHING related to this! I need help with this situation please.Desired Settlement: I would like this taken off of my credit history as soon as possible.

Business

Response:

If she will called our office rather than contact the Revdex.com, the collection issue would have been explained to her. Since Revdex.com complaints are public records, I suggest she call into our office and we can tell her about the issue.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Without knowing it, my account was transferred to Universal Recovery. I called to have my bill taken care of and they immediately asked for my credit card. This was done without them ever sending out a bill to my home. I ended up paying with my checking/routing information because to pay with a debit/credit, they charged approximately $14 to process. I asked if I could obtain a receipt, they stated that they would email it to me once it was processed. They did not email it the receipt, I had to call them again to have it completed. The "receipt" that I received did not show the amount due and the amount paid, it simply showed my name and account number, what company this was pertaining to and amount in full. When I asked if they could add to the receipt how much I paid, they stated that I can pull that from my bank statement and refused to send me an itemized bill. To me that seems like shady business practice, any time a customer buys or pays for something a receipt is given with how much was due and how much was paid. I just want to make sure that I don't run into any issues later down the line.Desired Settlement: I simply would like a receipt showing what was due and how much I paid on one receipt from the company it came from.

Business

Response:

The account was sent to us for collection on 9/30/15. A letter was generated that day and sent to the [redacted] address supplied by our client. Prior to sending it to us for collection, our client sent several demand letters advising [redacted] that her payoff on her trade in was higher and she needed to pay the difference. There was no response to my clients efforts. A phone call was made on October 2, 2015. At that point, [redacted] was given her options to pay by phone, each includes a pass through fee charged by our vendor. She chose a check by phone. She was advised at that time that that would be her receipt for payment. She requested a paid in full letter, attached, which was emailed to her that day.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I should not have to research options that are available to me. My options were not given neither in writing nor on the phone. I bought my car a month ago and my other car was paid off two weeks ago. If several attempts were made, please let me know how that is possible in such a short period of time. But no worries, I realize this business is not in the customer service business and I will work to get a bill passed to make sure people are probably notified and that it becomes law that companies like yours provide the proper financial payoff receipt that it's given in any other business.

Business

Response:

There is nothing else I can provide her. We have complied with all requirements, by law.

Review: This company is conducting collection activity without a valid business license.I spoke with the business license division in Rancho Cordova and was told that this company's license expired 01/30/2013 and that they have ignored a renewal and delinquency notice.I checked for a license because of the way they have been handling a trade-line that they placed on my credit report at a time they did not have a valid license. They refuse to conduct communications in writing and demand that everything be done over the phone. I demand that this trade line be removed as collection activity during the time their license was expired is not legal.Desired Settlement: Trade line deletion

Business

Response:

Our business licence is attached. Ms. [redacted] never requested communication in writing only, so this will serve as notification.

Review: My wife called this business yesterday to inquire as to a collection debt that is showing up on her credit report. The female operator who answered the phone would not identify herself, would not provide any information to my wife (other than she couldn't find the file), and was rude, unprofessional, sarcastic, belligerant, and unhelpful. I called later to find out what her name was so we could complain. I asked her nicely, "whom am I speaking with?" Her 'snide' reply was, "I don't know, you called me". My wife was in tears after talking to this person. My wife tried explaining to the operator that we are refinancing our home and need to take care of this collection item. As the operator was abruptly hanging up on my wife, her last words to my wife were, "Good luck with your refi"!We'd greatly appreciate the Revdex.com's intervention so that we can resolve this matter, and to also (hopefully) see that other responsible persons who are trying to clean up their credit and get on with their lives, don't have to deal with this type of behavior.Desired Settlement: We'd like someone other than the operator in question to contact us. My wife can be reached at [redacted]. An apology would be nice for starters, then we'd like to get the information on the file so we can find out exactly what this 'collection debt' is all about, since we have no knowledge of it (and according to the operator, they don't either), so in essence, they should stop reporting my wife to [redacted] and any other credit bureaus they report to.

Business

Response:

The account was assigned - not bought, in 3/08. We spoke to her in 4/08 and she said "good luck getting any money from me on this" and hung up.

When she called into the office, we could not locate her account under her now married name. It's listed under [redacted], which we were made aware of by her Attorney General Complaint, received today. She wanted it removed from her credit since we couldn't find it. She was asked other identifying questions, so that we may have found her account and she wouldn't answer them. Unfortunately, we cannot remove an account from the credit bureau unless we know what account it is - and only remove it if it was reported inn error. She hung up without ever giving us a real opportunity to find her account.

She may call the office, [redacted], and speak with Ms. [redacted]. Her account # is [redacted].

Review: I receivde a collection call on my answering machine on 10/16/14. I tried returning the call on Thursday and Friday the 17th and 18th with no answer. I reached the agency on Monday 10/20. The people were extremely rude. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to [redacted]. I explained to [redacted] that I had not received any correspondance by mail and for him to send the letter again so I could dispute it. He refused. Our conversation got heated and he said he would like me to say that to his face and even gave me the address to meet him. This was them followed by him asking if I will be seeing him soon.Desired Settlement: I would just like a letter showing what I supposedly owe. I am not going to randomly send money to someone who just says I owe someone else. Or they could write off the $17.83 that they say I owe

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] asked how he could dispute the bill. he was told to submit his dispute in writing. He refused, saying he didn't feel he should have to do anything and requested a supervisor. mr. [redacted] told him the same thing. He became quite beligerent, yelling, cussing, screaming, threatening to beat up Mr. [redacted]. At that time, Mr. [redacted] terminated the call.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I terminated the call. All I asked for was something in writing, which they said they had sent. They refused to send another copy. I looked into this, this afternoon and found out that this is a scam this company uses so that there is nothing in writing so that they can then get your credit card over the phone. They then charge up to 10 times what they were originally asking for and because there is nothing in writing they get away with overcharging and taking your money. I talked with a reputable collection agent and was given this information. This complaint had now been taken over by an investigator that is currently working this case.

Business

Response:

We have been in business 20+ years. We strictly adhere to the [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] has already confirmed the address we have for him is correct. The first notice was sent on 9/23/14 and it has not been returned to us, so we can only assume it was delivered to that address. The second notice is set to print on 10/24/14. We have Mr. [redacted]'s policy # that is associated with the car insurance he obtained in 2012. Additionally, nothing has been added to the account except interest at 10% per annum - not 10 times the amount owed.
