Vet Comp & Pen Medical Consulting, LLC Excessive Fees Price Gauging Vets for a little increase
Charging Fees after an Initial Notice of Decision
38 CFR § 14.636 Payment of fees for representation by agents and attorneys

I must say Vet Comp Pen was amazing. I still have no idea how they had gotten my number to call me to assists me. It was great conservation so we moved forward. I did get an increase of 20% However I did know they charge this crazy amount for thier feel. $207 times 5 which is like $1,085 or so and they had the nerve to one it all at once. I did get a payment plan but I beleve this is illegal. I do need to get some clarification on this.

Vet comp and Pen needs to certified with VA and hopefully they are then they can submit for it

Fees can be charged based on an unfavorable decision concerning an initial claim, an unfavorable decision from a supplemental claim, an unfavorable decision from a higher-level review, an unfavorable decision from the BVA, an unfavorable decision for a claim for secondary disability or an unfavorable decision for a claim for increase in rating. Fees cannot be charged if as a result of the decision notice, the claimant files a disagreement using 1 of the 3 options available. The accredited agent or accredited attorney must wait until a decision is rendered on any one of these so-called "lanes." At that point a fee agreement can be initiated and this would be payable from that second or third notice of decision.
Fees can be based on a fixed fee, an hourly rate, a percentage of the benefits recovered or a combination of such arrangements. Fees must be reasonable and are based on a list of reasonability determinations as listed in the regulation. If fees are based on a percentage of past-due benefits, any fees which exceed 33.33% of shall be presumed to be unreasonable.
VA will agree to pay fees directly to the agent or attorney up to 20% of past-due benefits if the fees are based on past-due benefits. This is called direct pay. Direct pay fee agreements must be filed within 30 days with the office of original jurisdiction. Fee agreements that are not direct pay must be mailed to the Office of General Counsel within 30 days.
An accredited agent or an accredited attorney may also charge, in addition, for out-of-pocket expenses relating to the claim. Expenses do not include normal overhead costs of the agent or attorney such as office rent, utilities, the cost of obtaining or operating office equipment or a legal library, salaries of the representative and his or her support staff, and the cost of office supplies.
Accredited representatives of service organizations commonly known as Veteran Service Officers may not charge fees under any circumstances.
All agreements for the payment of fees for services of agents and attorneys (including agreements involving fees or salary paid by an organization, governmental entity or other disinterested third party) must be in writing and signed by both the claimant or appellant and the agent or attorney.

Please think before going with this company
I was told about Vet Comp and Pen from a friend who got great results from them. I however did not maybe it was the people working on my case. Vet Comp and Pen submitted one claim on my behalf which was denied (for Sleep Apnea). They never got me an increase what so ever. They referred me to a law firm (Veteranclaims.com) which actual got my claim push through. I have ask them to provide me with a list of all the claims that they have submitted on my behalf. They sent me a form wanting more money to provide me a copy of what they did. They have charged me $7712.89 for a service that I had to keep asking what they are doing since they only filed one claim on my behalf which was denied.

I would be really careful with going with them for they really did nothing on my case but referred me to the Law office. Now I understand they need to get paid. They have charged me 5 months Medical Consulting Fee at $6357.80, 10% Retro Fee at $1355.09. I under stand the 10% but not the 5 Months Medical Consulting Fee. When I signed up with them I was told but there people that if I got with them I would have to pay the 5 months Medical Consulting Fee which I was ok with but this was on the bases that they would get me an increase. I was at 60% when I agreed to this. I have submitted paperwork on my own and I was able to get myself up to 90% and Vet Comp and Pen did NOTHING to get me there; but they changed full price... Please be very careful with going with these guys they are just after your money!

They know their stuff
Like so many other reviews, mine is not yet completed. I will say that they do what they say they will. They are up front about fees. They do not charge any veteran a single penny unless they help get an increase in rating. Their information clearly states that you should not try to deceive the VA nor falsify any documents. They simply help you navigate the enormous entity that is VA disability, giving you sound guidance as you go. I am a retired USAF E-8 with 26 years of service. I am not here to BS anybody nor sell anything. It's free to try to get what you deserve. You have nothing to lose.

I was extremely impressed by the quality of service provided by Vet Comp & Medical ConsultingI have been dealing directly with the VA for years, but I had hit a brick wallAfter fighting cancer for ten years, the VA decided I was better and cut off most of the compensation I was receivingSomeone suggested I contact them and I'm glad I didThey asked all the right questions to ensure my appeal was well researched and complete in a relatively short amount of timeI don't think I could have put all the information together without them As the saying goes, you get what you pay forI highly recommend their services

Great company that listens to us vets and TOTALLY UNDERSTANDS what were going through!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

I acquired this company to help me with my [redacted] caseThey told me there is no upfront fee as well as the amount of Bill depends on how much my [redacted] rating goes upSo I gave them access to all of my medical information and told them about the claims that I had and what I wanted to pursueThey told me instead of going and pursuing everything at once we will pursue the issues we think we can get past quickly and then come back to the issues that we need to further address that may take longer and more time to get a decision onUpon agreeing to this tactic I was awarded by the [redacted] and extra $a monthAfter completing that I assumed we would move on to the next issue but to my surprise I was told that I owed $1,and I could take either to months to pay it off but they would no longer work on any of my cases until the balance was paid offWhich was far from the discussion that we had prior to filing the claim the company failed to mention I think on purpose that they were going t

Great company, though their process for service are very vague yet they are in placeI think a brochure or pamphlet should be produced and sent to each customer to be clear of the charges and not a surprised when their service has been rendered Great communication to get the customer the right information needed to best serve them As with any law firm it is a bit expensive to use their services, so please double check the $$ you will have to pay for this very successful and reliable business Keep up the great work, but be more open with your customer on the amount they will be charged for your services

The language of the contract is very different than the promises made by phone with the " [redacted] ***" (Deceptive Practices) In Section paragraph h, I, and j there is a lot of language which compels the [redacted] to obtain legal services on his/her own for an appeal We all know that the **, much like an insurance company, has to deny most claimsIt is expectedIt is part of doing businessThat being said, a [redacted] does not have $to retain an [redacted] in most casesI am a [redacted] ***I know how expensive these things can getAt $250-$per hour, an [redacted] can easily rack up $5k-$25k in charges [redacted] are also business folkThey are in business to make moneyWe must anticipate and accept that as a fact [redacted] s do not have the desire in most cases to battle with the [redacted] in courtThis takes years and more money than we can afford The language MUST be changed in the contract IF the actual practice of Vet Comp and Pen Medical Consulting LLC does what the
