Viking Bags Reviews (%countItem)

Essentially I purchased a pair of saddlebags from said company on 20 June 2018 they were shipped. The product did not fit my bike which wasn't the end of the world things happen especially when trying to buy parts or accessories for Harley's. I tried contacting Viking bags through phone, email, and the live chat on their website multiple times. I left voicemails stating my name, email, product that the phone call was regarding, etc. imploring the company to call me back with instructions on how to return or possibly exchange the item. WEEKS had gone by and to no avail I hadn't heard from anyone. I called on August the 8th, 2018 and I finally got through to a human on the other end of the line not just a voicemail. I had stated to the man on the phone everything I just wrote in the about complaint and he cordially and politely gave me the instructions I needed to follow in order to return the bags. That same day I sent in the return form and received a message after stating I would hear back from them in one to two business days. I never heard back from them so NOW on August the 15th I called and spoke to another representative. He informed me that because I was past the thirty day mark for returns there was nothing they could do about it. I asked to speak to his supervisor where he then informed me he was the supervisor and I asked him if there was anything he could do for me, he said no. The whole issue is the company made minimum to zero efforts reaching back out to me when all I wanted to figure out was how the hell to send my bags back and possibly get more. He was rude, brash, and really just a waste of my time and money at this point.

Purchased 2 Solo Bags, advertised as leather. They are ALL plastic and naugahyde ,NO LEATHER. The swing arm bag #17006 advertised hard mount, When received there was some hardware ,including plates and brackets, but no instructions. After contacts by their chat room ,each time I was told to use the provided nylon straps,Even when I explained that they had sent mounting hardware, and I mearly wished an instruction sheet , I was told to use the straps.Today I looked at their site to find these bags STILL advertised as "leather". The smaller bag had the actual mounting bolt too large ...3/8"...takes 5/16". Drove to hardware store to purchase the correct hardware on my dime.

I purchased a set of saddlebags in June advertised to specifically fit my motorcycle ***, along with hardware to mount it and a "universal tail light relocating kit". The saddlebag instructions required that holes be drilled to mount them, voiding the return policy. The saddlebags sit out so far from the motorcycle (about 2") due to the provided spacers that the weight of the saddlebags vibrated the mounting hardware loose three separate times. I tried locking nuts, loctite, and locking washers on each of these occasions. The final straw was when it vibrated loose while I was riding it, causing damage to my motorcycle's drive gear and risking my own safety. I requested a refund, but was told they only covered manufacturer defects to the bags themselves, not the hardware they sold me.

1. Hardware included with bags does not fit bike or much it it was installed on bags already stripped.
2. Purchased and installed my own hardware from local hardware store
3. One bolt broke while riding. Replaced them all with Grade 12.9 bolts from Fastenal. Still 2 have broken of these. In the process, also lost 2 important Kawasaki collar and o-rings from from bike and one of Viking Bags provided hex bolts.
4. Have requested Viking provide courtesy replacement for 2 hex bolts valued at $14 total.
5. They referred me to their website, at which these items were out of stock.
6. Further discussions with them told me that I did not buy the bags from them so they owe me nothing.
7. In fact, I bought them from MotorcycleHouse.com which sells other items besides Viking Bags but shares the same website chat and lists the same Brea, CA address on both web sites.

Bottom line:
1. I have only asked for $14 of hardware when I have over $50 in hardware and labor costs due to their faulty hardware
2. Their customer service is insulting and I find their practice deceptive
3. I have been very polite in all my correspondance
4. Online searches show I am not the only person to run into these issues. Other complaints and their lack of response on Viking bags part seem to corroborate what poor service they offer.
5. Perhaps most importantly, I have not been injured in these incidents, but only by nothing short of a miracle. The potential is there.

I bought some motorcycle saddle bags for an 08 Yamaha 650 V-star custom. The bags came with a rear turn signal relocation kit. The kit receive was not the one in their picture of the bags on a Yamaha vstar. It was a universal one that had instructions for a Harley Davidson, not Yamaha. The one in the picture was chrome and the pone sent was black. It did not fit per their installation video (Which also was wrong) and one of the bags were missing the rubber plugs to fill pre-existing mounting holes. I contacted them via email and receive a response that Andy would be contacting me in one or two business days. Three days later I contacted them again and was told via email that Andy would be contacting me and I had to drill extra holes in it to mount to my bike (My bike was down five days waiting on them to resolve my issue) Once I mounted the bags I noticed a MFG defect in one of them where a rivet that was supposed to go all the way through from the bottom of the bag to the inner shell did not make it through the inner shell causing a hump in the bottom of the bag. They finally replied and said to send them a picture and they would see what the best they could do for me. They replied again and said the hump was not "that" noticeable and if I had not mounted them they would send me more. I replied that they were already mounted and the I could send them back and they could plug the holes "that" they wouldn't be that noticeable. Still no rubber plugs and no resolution to the MFG defect. They have very very poor customer service and made no reasonable offer to resolve this issue. I have not heard back from them in a week. So they pretty much just took my money and blew me off.

AWFUL! They also said the bags would fit my Triumph Rocket 3 and they don't. I was 2 weeks beyond 30 days and they won't take the bags back! I explained I had sold my house a lot quicker than I expected and had no time to put bags on. They don't give a crap. Don't do business with these people. Crooks.

On 4/30/18 I ordered three items(saddlebags,a quick disconnect system for the saddlebags and a trunk)from Vikingbags online. I received a shipment notification on 5/2/18 7:03 am indicating all items were shipped(UPS tracking number *** weighing 44.6 lbs according to UPS).Then I received a second email on 5/2/18 7:04 am indicating my order was updated and only partially shipped(Saddlebags and Quick Detach system shipped,Trunk to be shipped separately). I never received a second email with information on a second shipment thus, I went online and spoke to tech support(Chris). Chris indicated a second package was sent and gave me the tracking number(UPS tracking number *** weighing 13 lbs according to UPS).Two boxes were delivered 5/7/18,to my mother's address (a gated community with security officers). One box contained the trunk and quick detach system (not the saddlebags and quick disconnect system as Vikingbags says)the other box contained support brackets for the saddlebags but no saddlebags. Not only did I not receive the saddlebags, but the trunk I received was poorly assembled(the backrest pad improperly installed). I contacted vikingbags who told me to file a police report and contact UPS. I have corresponded with them a couple of times, sent pictures and yet the only response I receive is UPS indicates delivered and thus contact them. They are not concerned with the inconsistency of their belief that they sent the trunk separately in a box that UPS indicates weighed 13 lbs(the trunk weighs 16 lbs per their website). My belief is that the shipping labels were mixed up and they accidentally sent the the brackets without the bags. The order is still listed as partially shipped. At any rate there are too many inconsistencies for me to accept that someone took them or UPS messed up. The staff were pleasant and responsive (responded within 24 hours) until I requested to speak to a manager. Have not heard back from them in over 24 hours

Customer Response • Jun 14, 2018

Regarding the above referenced complaint. I was finally able to obtain return authorization for the merchandise I received (trunk and quick disconnect system). They received the items yet only credited me for the trunk (less tax???) and indicated they did not receive the quick disconnect system. Both items were sent together in the package they were received. I recognize they have not responded and the matter is considered closed but this information is more of the same. They send me an incomplete order and it is my fault or UPS, I send them what I receive back and they say they did not get it and it is my fault. I mean this is ridiculous and I want the public who is interested to know how bad this company is. I think they have a thief in their warehouse personally. I want to update the information so it can be posted on the Revdex.com site. Can you help or instruct me how to get this new information out?

Sold me bags and a kit for my Honda Shadow 1100 ACE. Kit was not for my bag, did not work at all. A bolt they sent me wouldn't come out and it snapped 3 times while trying to extract it. ended up having to drill it out and retap my fender. Horrible experience. They hide any negative review that is left on a product. Shady company that sells you something that isn't what was promised. I don't usually go out of my way, but this became obvious that this is part of how they do business. I would never buy from them again.

Bolts didn't fit. Kit to move lights was missing parts and does not fit for my stock taillights. Not only is the kit not for my motorcycle, it's a really bad cheap universal kit that I wouldn't ever use.

Vikingbags.com advertises a particular hard saddlebags that would fit my 2017 Harley-Davidson Low Rider FXDL. I purchased the bags and was extremely disappointed because they did NOT fit my motorcycle safely. I consulted with a Harley-Davidson technician and an American Iron motorcycle technician to see if they could mount the saddlebags to my motorcycle. They immediately said the hard saddlebag is "too narrow to attach to the two struts on the fender railing" and "the bags are more than 2" from the railing." This means I would have to add large 2" spacers to fit the saddlebags which is dangerous and very unsafe. I returned the saddlebags which cost me $48.18. Viking, in turn, refunded the price of the saddlebags, but would not refund my cost for returning the saddlebags. I contacted them on three occasions and asked them to refund the return shipping/handling cost since their website FALSELY ADVERTISED the saddlebags would fit and cost me almost $50 to return them. Their response still claims the saddlebags fit my motorcycle. They clearly do NOT FIT. I felt Viking Bags company was very unprofessional. Their return policy says it does not refund shipping/handling charges for items returned. My complaint is that they falsely advertised a product which cost me a large amount of money to return it. A good business would be more ethical, admit their false advertisement, and promptly refund a complaint such as this!

I head a really good experience despise the bad reviews. I contacted them to get some bags for my bike after seeing my neighbors. They assisted me and pointed me in the correct direction to make sure that I got the correct kti for my bike. Super excited and waiting for the product to come in!
