I am rejecting this response because:Walden over charged me plain and simple, and like many other "for profit colleges" they are under federal investigation for their antics Schools like this run up our student loans until we are in the 100k range , and I am in the process of filing Federal Complaints against this school as well as the previous school for doing just that Had I known what these schools were really like I would have never attendedWalden came with a recommendation of a friend, shame on me for not doing enough research I want my balance adjusted to show zero, and I want my degree as well as my official transcripts (at least copies of them ) mailed to me immediatelyThis is absolutely the only way I will not file the complaint on Walden By with holding my degree and transcripts they are interfering in my ability to find a good paying job, as employers require copies of official transcripts mailed inI work for the Government and that is a non negotiable requirement following are links to numerous complaints on this school.http://dailycaller.com/2016/10/10/clinton-connected-for-profit-school-gov...

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/06/12) */ The student has raised concerns about his doctoral program and the academic decisions made by Walden University relating to his doctoral studyThe doctoral study process at any university can be lengthy and difficultThe process requires the student to independently perform significant scholarly research and to write a comprehensive study based on that scholarly researchBecause the student's concerns are academic in nature and cannot be adequately addressed in a public forum, his program leadership will be contacting the student to discuss his concerns Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 7, 2015/06/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) My desired resolution: 1) to move forward with my governmental business study and 2) a waiver of all tuition and fees beyond this semester has not been specifically addressed DrDouglas [redacted] , the Chief Methodologist validated and summed up my complaint in his email response on May 28, to Dr [redacted] (Methodologist) and Dr [redacted] (Program Director)Dr [redacted] said "student was poorly served by his committee." However, I would like to add that the student was also poorly served by Dr [redacted] and Dr [redacted] The term independent scholar is consistently used conveniently, when the Program Director want to absolve the committee and the methodologist of their responsibility to meThe Program Director cannot justify, my chair guiding me to this point and then the methodologist recommending that I find another company and start overUnless the standard is to take the $65K in tuition that I have invested in this program and request that I basically start the process over Final Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 10, 2015/07/09) */ The student has again raised concerns about his doctoral program and the academic decisions made by Walden University relating to his doctoral studyAs stated previously, the student's concerns are mostly academic in nature, and cannot be adequately addressed in a public forumThe student has raised the same concerns with another outside agency and Walden will fully address his concerns in that more private forum Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (3000, 12, 2015/07/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I am not sure why the Program Director, DrFreda [redacted] would say that my issue is academic in natureThe Faculty Methodologist, DrDoug [redacted] emailed Dr [redacted] on May 28, in response to my complaint and said, "The student was poorly served by his committee." I completed the academic phase of my degree program March Since that time, I have been writing my doctoral study and have met every benchmarkMy issues are: 1) Walden University changed the requirement two years into my program2) After my committee (DrCharles Needham, DrStephanie [redacted] and DrMatthew [redacted] ) approved my proposal, I was advanced to my first oral defenseOn April 5, my first oral defense was approved and then the Methodologist, DrGene [redacted] recommended that I basically start my study over3) I am a disabled Veteran and have exhausted all of my funds as a result of not only being poorly served by my committee, but the entire Walden University leadershipWalden University has failed to address my request to have all tuition and fees waived so that I can complete my doctoral study The leadership of Walden University has acknowledged they have failed me, but have not accepted any responsibility in the matterThe leadership only wants to add more time and money onto the $65K and the more than three years that I have already invested in this degree programIt is not fair for Walden University to change the requirements in the middle of my program and to admit they have failed me and not accept any responsibility in helping meMy question: what is Walden University willing to do for me? From my perspective, Walden University has failed meet the quality of education and quality of service standards I have also filed complaints with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, the Federal Student Aid (Title IV) and the Veterans Administration, Post GI BillI plan to file complaints with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and the Department of Veteran Affairs Office of Inspector GeneralIf my issues with Walden University are still not resolved, I will seek legal counsel To Whom It May Concern at the Revdex.com, I am a disabled Veteran who would like to be contacted by the media about my issues with Walden University

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/11/05) */ The student alleges that her professors intentionally delayed her progress in the courses she took as part of the Walden Tempo Learning program she was attendingTempo Learning is a new alternative learning modality and a student must successfully pass all competency assessments in order to meet the requirements of the degreeStudents progress through the Tempo Learning modality by successfully passing competency assessments, which are graded by Walden University faculty using detailed rubricsThe student successfully completed a portion of the course sequence, but not the entire course sequenceNonetheless, Walden University is committed to student success and her coach will be in touch with her this week to address her concerns Final Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 12, 2015/12/28) */ Walden University apologizes for the delay in processing the student's refundAn expedited request to process the refund was submitted by the Bursar's Office on December 14, If the student has not received the refund, we ask that she contact Walden at [redacted] and ask for the Bursar's Office

Walden University takes student concerns seriously and uses its best efforts to address student issuesThe student has expressed concerns regarding the grades she received in one of the courses she took at Walden For each course they take, Walden students receive a syllabus which includes the grading process for that particular course Instructors grade students based upon the grading rubric in the course syllabus Students who believe that they are not being graded properly have the option to file a Grade Appeal after the completion of the course More information regarding this process can be found in the Walden Student Handbook at www.waldenu.edu Walden’s Office of Student Affairs has been working with the student to assist her At this time, the student has been put in touch with the appropriate academic leader and they are currently working with the student to successfully resolve her concerns

Walden University has reviewed the student’s complaint and her history with the university Our records show that the student applied and was admitted to the university and enrolled in classes in In her complaint the student states that she was supposed to be withdrawn from her classes but was not Our records show that she inquired on March 10, about withdrawing from all her courses At that time the student was informed that she would be responsible for 20% of her tuition as per university policy The student never notified the university of her final decision to withdraw for the term Students who wish to withdraw from the university must notify the university in writing, otherwise they are considered enrolled As the university received no such notice, the student was responsible for her tuition and fees At this time the balance remains unpaid At this point the student’s account has been turned over to a third-party collection service The collection service is willing to work with the student to develop a payment plan, but after reviewing the situation the university has determined that since the student participated in classes past the date when she could withdraw and receive a full refund, we are unable to reduce the amount owedWalden’s tuition policy can be found in the Student Handbook, which is located here: http://catalog.waldenu.edu/index.php If the student has concerns about specific policies and how they are applied, she has the option to contact Robert [redacted] , University OmbudspersonMr [redacted] can direct the student to the proper resources within the University and escalate any issues that need to be addressed to the appropriate departments within the UniversityMr [redacted] can be reached at ###-###-#### or [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: To reject the appeal due to failing grades for the Autumn term is ridiculous to me, since I was deported on short notice and had to move across the world without any place to go when I arrivedI provided documentation to the school and noted that it would be impossible for me to raise my GPA to their standards due to over a month of intense upheaval as well as homelessnessI feel that denying me a financial aid extension on those grounds made no sense

Walden University takes all student issues seriously and uses our best efforts to address student concerns Ms [redacted] claims that she is being charged for classes she did not take, which is resulting in her account being placed in collections and preventing her from enrolling in future classes at the university Walden has investigated the issue and our records indicate that Ms***’s balance is for unpaid tuition for classes she took in the Fall Quarter Ms***’s financial aid was insufficient to cover her full tuition, resulting in an unpaid balance of $1, Walden University has attempted to work with Ms***, offering her the maximum payment arrangement possible under federal law Unfortunately, Ms [redacted] was unwilling to accept that offer and her account was turned over to a third party collection agency for payment University policy does not permit students to register for future classes when there is an unpaid balance on their account Walden appreciates that students may experience financial hardships and we attempt to work with students to make arrangements for the payment of tuition if possible At this point, Ms [redacted] may contact [redacted] at ###-###-#### and make payment arrangements Third party agencies such as Ability are permitted to make more favorable payment arrangements and they will be glad to assist Ms*** When the balance is cleared she may re-enroll Please note that students who do not attend Walden for an extended period of time may be required to apply for re-admission to the university when they wish to return. Finally, if Ms [redacted] has concerns about specific policies and how they are applied, she has the option to contact Robert [redacted] , University OmbudspersonMr [redacted] can direct the student to the proper resources within the University and escalate any issues that need to be addressed to the appropriate departments within the UniversityMr [redacted] can be reached at ###-###-#### or [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I just received the latest notice from SLM stating that my student loan has reached maturity as a final notice and a scan copy is attached to this message

Walden University takes student concerns seriously and uses its best efforts to address student issuesMr [redacted] believes that he has been receiving past due notices from his student loan lenders showing that he is not a current student at Walden and therefore required to begin repayment of his loansHowever, our records show that Mr [redacted] is a current Walden student and that status has been accurately reported to his lenderAdditionally, we have determined that Mr [redacted] is not receiving a bill, but rather an interest statement showing the current accrued interest on his student loansNothing that is occurring in this situation should be resulting in derogatory reporting on Mr***’s credit report When Mr., [redacted] contacted the university regarding this issue, Walden contacted Navient, Mr***’s student loan lender to inquire on his behalfWe then informed Mr [redacted] that the statement that he is receiving from his lender is not a bill, but rather it is a Quarterly Interest Statement which is showing his unpaid interest on his student loansNavient has informed us that Mr [redacted] will continue to be sent the Quarterly Interest Statement while his loans are outstandingThe Statement shows the amount of unpaid interest that he can pay now or have the interest accrued at the time of full repaymentHe may go to www.Navient.com to keep track of his loan status and payment options Nothing that is occurring related to this situation should be resulting in a negative report on Mr***’s credit bureauHowever, Walden does not have access to Mr***’s personal credit informationIf MrClery is in fact having negative information appear on his credit report as a result of this issue, he should contact the Office of Financial Aid and provide us with a copy of his credit report and we will be happy to investigate further

Walden University takes student concerns seriously and uses its best efforts to address student issuesThe student has expressed concerns regarding an alleged overpayment to WaldenMr [redacted] claims that when he paid for his tuition on January 22, 2017, a “technical glitch” caused his credit card to be charged times Walden has researched Mr [redacted] ’s claims and determined that Mr [redacted] did in fact make multiple payments for the same bill but the charges were reversed when the university became aware of them and Mr [redacted] ’s credit card was credited for the overpayments However at the same time Mr [redacted] ’s credit card company, at his request, also reversed two of the charges Therefore, Mr [redacted] was reimbursed times for a payment he made times, resulting in him still owing the original amount Walden has asked the student to contact his credit card company regarding the missing payment but he has not provided any feedback that such has occurredWe have attached a copy of the student’s account statement detailing these transactionsWe ask that Mr [redacted] contact Walden’s Receivables Management at ###-###-#### so this issue can be resolved in an expeditious manner

Walden University response to Revdex.com response for consumer complaint # [redacted] - [redacted]

Walden University takes student concerns seriously and uses its best efforts to address student issuesThe student has expressed concerns regarding the requirements of the Walden Ph.D program with a specialization in Special Education, and the outstanding balance on her student account She alleges that she was not told that she would have to attend colloquiums for the program during the time she was communicating with Walden about enrolling in the program The Ph.Dprogram at Walden requires all students to attend two residencies (these are the courses the student refers to as colloquiums) Contrary to the student’s allegation that she was not told of this requirement prior to admission, she was informed by her Enrollment Advisor before the enrollment process was complete on at least one occasion The student first contacted Walden on October 31, to discuss Walden’s Education programs On November 1, the student spoke with an Enrollment Advisor in detail about her background and the program she was interested in She was told about the residency requirement and told the Enrollment Advisor that she liked the fact that there were residencies in California (her home state) When the student was offered admission to Walden, she was provided with a Program of Study listing the course requirements including the information that four residencies were part of the requirements (attached) If the student was not willing to complete the requirements of the program, she could have simply rejected the offer of admission, before she enrolled in her first course She chose to accept the offer of admission and start the program The student later raised concerns that she had been told that the residency costs were included in the tuition for the other courses This concern was raised to the Walden Ombudsperson and after an investigation, she was provided with a full tuition reimbursement for a residency she only attended in part: she withdrew before completing the residency Her Enrollment Advisor also apologized to the student for not being clearer on the cost structure of the program The student also complains that when she inquired about changing her program from the Ph.Dprogram to the Ed.Sin Special Education, none of her previous courses would transfer to the new program Walden performs a degree audit when a student wishes to change programs to determine if any courses will transfer to the new program The degree audit determined that none of the course she had completed were transferrable She appealed this decision and Academic Advising and the Program Director for Doctoral Programs again reviewed the degree audit and again determined that none of the courses the student had completed would transfer Finally, she raises concerns about an outstanding balance on her student account According to federal financial aid regulations, when a student is dropped or withdraws from a course within a pre-determined time period, or fails a course, the financial aid funds must be returned to the financial aid provider (Return to Title IV or "R2T4"), as the student has not fully earned the funds awardedWhen the funds are returned to the federal government, as required, the student is still held responsible for the debt incurred with the University In accordance with those federal regulations, part of the student's financial aid funds for the Winter Term and the Summer Term were sent back to the student's financial aid lender as required, leaving a balance due on the student's account In 2012, Walden attempted to speak with the student on separate occasions regarding the outstanding balance on her student account, and then waited another year, until August 2013, before sending the account to a third party collection agency If the student wishes to discuss her outstanding account balance, she should contact the Walden University Financial Account Management Office (previously Collections Office) at ###-###-####They can provide her with the contact information for the third party collection agency

Walden University takes student concerns seriously and uses its best efforts to address student issuesMr [redacted] has expressed concerns relating to an outstanding balance on his student account Students enrolling in Walden University are responsible for the payment of tuition and fees for courses that they take Here, Mr [redacted] attended Walden in the Fall Quarter Mr [redacted] actively participated in his course until September 14, and therefore owes the tuition corresponding to the time he attended the university In his complaint, Mr [redacted] states that he withdrew from Walden and therefore should not have a balance owed Walden’s policy is that students must inform the university in writing if they wish to withdraw Our records show that Mr [redacted] did not request to be withdrawn until January 22, 2016, which was well after the completion of the Fall Quarter Based upon this information, it is the university’s position that Mr [redacted] owes the full amount requested Walden has made several attempts to work out an agreeable payment plan with Mr*** If the he wishes to set up a plan, he should contact the Walden University Financial Account Management Office at ###-###-####

The student has raised the same concerns as in her original complaint While Walden regrets that the exact timing of suspending the student’s financial aid was unknown, and impacted her ability to continue her studies, as previously stated, Walden cannot properly address the student's concerns, unless or until the student files an internal petition/appeal which will be reviewed by appropriate university staff and administered through the university processesThe student should consult the Walden University Student Handbook for information relating to these processes and may contact an Academic Advisor at ###-###-#### if she has any questions on how to proceed

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Walden's assertion that I "was told on June 17, 2015, June 24, and July 6, that part of my federal funding would be sent back" to my lender is a complete LIE, and I have PROOF via emails and documentations that supports that I was administratively withdrawn with the UNIVERSITY on MAY 31, and the university also alerted the US Department of Education about their administrative withdrawal in May 2015, a month before the calls they referenceI never ever initiated a student withdrawal from my coursesIn fact, the conversations in June and July that the university refers to are admissions that I have made numerous attempts to resolve this matter because I feel very strongly and know full well that the university has acted illegally in this matterThey fail to admit or acknowledge that these contacts/calls were made by ME in an attempt to understand and resolve this matterThe university has not acted in good faithI have attached and provided documentation that supports my position that the university acted inappropriately and administratively withdrew me in MAY 2015, resulting in an inappropriate tuition billI also attached copies of emails and correspondences I had with the university balking at their action in withdrawing me and then sticking me with a tuition billAs stated previously, this is a hustle by this for-profit universityThey are not in the business of helping students obtain their education or degrees evidenced by my experience and the experience of thousand of other consumersThis is one of the ways they get money on the backs of the American people under the noses of Uncle SamThey prey on students and use to their advantage the desire and hunger of people who want to get their college education and take measures to work AGAINST them, instead of with the studentsWalden has every phone number, emails, and address on file, so if there was ever a question or concern about my class participation or attendance, the university's advisers should be fully trained in how to work with at-risk studentsInstead, they withdraw students at the 1st sign of trouble and stick them with thousand dollar tuition bill and threaten them with collection action to coerce money out of peopleWell...Im not scared and I will not be a victim and I will not be taken advantage of in this wayRevdex.com has thousands of similar complaints from people regarding this university's shade antics and practicesI have never run away or hid from this issue because I want to resolve it; however, Walden has done everything in its power to not be responsive to meI maintain and have proof that I was administratively withdrawn from the university on May 31, and the university even provided this information to the US Department of Education (see attachment 1, which has the date)(Financial Aid Review -- [redacted] )

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meThis issue is resolved

I am rejecting this response because: I will be speaking with Joe Underwood to discuss my concerns on Wednesday January 24thWe have not yet reached a resolution concerning this matter therefore it has not been resolved

As stated previously, Walden considered Ms [redacted] ’s documentation and granted her petition for her first submissionMs [redacted] ’s condition did not change (the need to care for her child) when she made the decision to enroll in additional coursesTherefore, the first tuition waiver was granted due to her change in circumstances during that term, but the second waiver was denied because the circumstances existed prior to her enrollment, yet she chose to still attempt to take the courseIt is not that Ms [redacted] should have never enrolled in Walden in the first place, but that she should not have enrolled in courses if she was going to be unable to have the time necessary to complete them, and cannot use a condition that existed before the course began to receive a tuition waiver for that course

I am rejecting this response because: The date of April 9, was not discussed when I called to verify if the withdrawal was going to take place There were no verification given to me when I called the next day whether through email (although I receive many emails from Walden) or through the US Postal service My only resolve apparently is to contact the ombudsman regarding this issue
