Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. At this point Thomas Jefferson Roofing has a check that they will not deposit. At 6 months, this check will no longer be viable. I do not know how much they think we owe. They point back to the myriad of invites as indicating some amount. I used the one amount I got from them, deducted half the $500 discount, and  wrote a check.  Impasse. The facts remain. 17 weeks to complete work that they were under contract to complete in 2 weeks. Not one call for email from Thomas Jefferson Roofing to explain, to answer my questions, to apologize for the inaction. NOT ONCE! When I fired them by email and threatened to have anyone for Thomas Jefferson Roofing arrested did they send tout a sub to schedule job completion.Contracts were written and then no changes made to them by us except to substitute metal roofing in place of shingles. NO CHANGES BY US. They said there would be no change in price for the metal. The metal roofing was cut incorrectly and still put up. The owner of the company wanted me to agree to patch it up, even climbing on the roof to screw down a few loose pieces. I accepted, but my wife is not happy with my decision. I admit I was worn down by then. To make them change would be a fight. I would have to run the job for them and instruct their ineffective help on how to do the work. I had already spent too many hours running their subs. Were Thomas Jefferson Roofing reps on site when the subs showed up to work? NO, NEVER. Did they describe what needed to be done to the subs other than roofing, painting, gutters, etc.? NO, NEVER. Who did this? I did. This happened every morning there were subs on site. This took time away from my work.  When their work was complete, did the Thomas Jefferson Roofing reps do a walk around and inspection to find things undone, alone? NO, NEVER. Thomas Jefferson Roofing never mentioned a cost addition for upgraded shingles. At our first meeting, Ron E[redacted] mentioned that "...everyone gets the upgrade. We are the only company that does that."  There is aline item on the agreement that has a price for shingles, but does not mention upgrade. Again, we were handed a GAF product  book open to a page, and asked to pick a color. Were we ever advised that the singles would cost more than "the usual" NO, NEVER. Was it ever in writing that the shingles would cost more? NO, NEVER.  The supposed extra cost (justified by a self generated cost comparison document that was laughable in its naivete.) was justified by declining the $500 discount. I offered to write the supplement for labor on the workshop siding that my assistant and I replaced. We charge $100 per man hour for our work that graces the homes and businesses of most of the finest projects in Indiana and 20 other states. $100 per hour is less than your mechanic, your dentist, and your accountant, though Thomas Jefferson Roofing tries to make it sound as if we are thieves. He never responded to my offer, but instead submitted a supplement that asked for more money to cover materials - which were already covered by the insurance estimator and I. So they were declined. Apology?   Request to re-submit?  NO, NEVER.  This is money out of my own pocket, by the way. Once the work was done, Thomas Jefferson Roofing presented invoices that added things that were not in the agreements. $650.00 in Profit was a line item introduced only after Thomas Jefferson Roofing saw that their numbers did not add up. The same amount was also adde for Overhead - again, not seen until the last round or two of invoices.  The woodwork they did on the house - tailed two rafters with very primitive patches instead of the industry accepted scarf joints that would have been easier to make, easier to level and make less obvious and much longer lasting than the two step configuration the carpenters used. This was not hard carpentry or difficult, but their mediocrity is preserved, and on our house. We have invoices presented on 3 different dats, with different line items, different numbers and even handwriting scrawled on them, but all from the same 'date' on the header. We have invoices that do not accurately show what was paid, and invoices that are just plain different from the others. And the last round or two  had these additional items to increase the total. One is tempted to think this is done to obfuscate and confuse. Have we ever been presented with a document that shows how much Thomas Jefferson Roofing expects yet to receive? NO, NEVER. Has Thomas Jefferson Roofing responded to my requests for this information? NO, NEVER.  Has Thomas Jefferson Roofing roofing engaged in flowery emails and even gifts sent to the house in an attempt to get us to remove negative online comments such as this? YES, SEVERAL TIMES.
Regards,
