Claim [redacted],"INCIDENT: During a visit to the Oregon coast between July 15 and July 22. Sand blowing on the beach while taking pictures. Also, camera was in the direct sun on extremely hot days -- lens faced sun DAMAGE: Spots in images.  Problem with focus, colors". The...

Adjuster asked for additional explanation of events leading to the stated damage. The insured stated "(1)I was using my camera while walking on the beach in Brookings, Oregon. A sudden burst of wind resulted in my camera and lens getting the full brunt of the wind which was carrying a great deal of sand and grit. (2)The next day we went to a kite festival in Brookings, Oregon. My camera and lens were uncovered... My wife was watching the camera, but she put the camera and lens facing up (without cover)and the camera and lens faced directly into the sun for a period of an hour or so.  I don't know if the latter incident has caused any problems with the functioning of the camera or lens but I have noticed that focus and color have not been quite"on." I won't know exactly what damage this may have caused or what will be required to fix it until I send it to the camera repair place for them to diagnose it." Upon review of the information, the claim was denied as we are unable to qualify the damage as accidental. The Insured then called to explain that a windstorm had occurred. Worth Ave Group stated that a windstorm would not be considered part of our standard perils of the policy (fire, flood, natural disaster, power surge by lightning, and vandalism) without validation of the weather incidence. As WAG is not able to qualify the wind burst as a natural disaster until the event can be confirmed by the National Weather Database.  As the current claim in question has multiple stated events leading to the damage present and the weather condition is not verifiable we are unable to qualify this claim for coverage.

This business is a con operation with a long track record of similar reviews on the Internet.I was asked in a subsequent email when I discovered a problem with the phone and I told them.  They have FULL KNOWLEDGE THAT THE PHONE WAS DROPPED OUT OF A CYCLING JERSEY ON 9/30/16.    AN ADDITIONAL INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 10/4/16.  The two incidents have NOTHING TO DO WITH OTHER EXCEPT THIS COMPANY DENIED BOTH CLAIMS.  They are running a con of advertising phone insurance that is supposed to cover accidents but when it comes time to pay the refuse to.  I am done wasting time with these shysters as they have intention of ever paying for this claim.

phone is not working properly.  It goes blinking with green light across the screen and I am unable to make or receive calls to turn the phone off."  Also, on the 11/27/2017, Worth Ave Group Claims Assistant  explained to the insured what was still needed to proceed with the claims process. I am rejecting this response. As Worth Ave. Group had mentioned, upon request from them, I took my phone to multiple repair shops for an estimate. Well ALL of the repair shops including the one they recommended that I go to found issues with the phone and more specifically the mic, none of them would provide a written quote as they knew I was going to take my business elsewhere and not use them. They were however, willing to fix it on the spot if I wanted to get it fixed. To show good faith and to show that I am being reasonable, I am willing to take my phone to the Revdex.com as a 3rd party to confirm that the mic does not work. Also, if Worth Ave. Group has any offices within an hours drive of me, i'll be willing to take it to them provided that I am onsite with it so I can show them exactly what it is doing when on a call. Since getting a written quote is an issue, it needs to be through the Revdex.com or a staff member at Worth Ave. Group so it is not a he said vs she said argument. After proving that I am not a liar, I would like a full apology from Worth Ave. Group as well as the phone to get fixed.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

As of 1/31/2018, the Adjuster contacted the insured by email requesting documentation from Apple for the cost of Out of Warranty Exchange for the damaged device, if is unable to repair the device. The insured was also told that if Apple cannot provide a...

I am rejecting this response because:under the drop down menu of things that are supposed to be covered my issue is listed. Their coverage policy is very misleading when it states fully covered

WIDI-**-[redacted]-01/ WIDI-[redacted]-WEBClaim initially filed 4/27/20**. The insured provided the following statement “INCIDENT: The phones screen suddenly went out on me. DAMAGE: LCD crystals including screen due to moisture."As a result, the Adjuster requested for further details regarding...

the actual incident on 4/27/20**. In response the insured detailed, “Mechanical breakdown with no specific incident causing devices screen malfunction”. Unfortunately due the the exclusion of coverage for Mechanical Breakdown Worth Ave Group is unable to extend coverage to the loss. This was detailed to the insured on 4/29/20**. On 5/1/20**, the insured provided the following statement to our offices, “When I put mechanical breakdown with no specific cause, I meant I didn’t drop or break the phone. The screen went out due to sweat from my ear leaking under the sceen over time." Following details of the coverage provided by the policy purchased the insured again detailed another scenario of damage. The insured further explained, "My phone has been dropped multiple times, has paint peeling off, and I wondering if I should have the company fixing my phone write you a detailed description of my phones problems. It seems your doing everything you can, to not cover my paid insurance plan ” To conclude the claim, the Adjuster explained that due to the multiple conflicting statements of events for the claim at hand, Worth Ave Group is unable to overturn the original decision reached due to the discrepant information provided to our offices. As accidental damage is sustained from a one known actual physical incident that has occurred to knowingly cause damage to your device. You have provided statements for wear and tear, mechanical breakdown which both are not covered perils on your policy.

On 2/14/2017,the insured provided a statement to our offices that the device insured was lost. The adjuster assigned to this case informed the insured that the coverage purchased does not extend to lost devices as defined by the policy under Mysterious Disappearance. The...

insured then contacted our office stating that in fact he had located the device in a puddle of water. The Adjuster in turn requested a repair estimate for the damages at hand. The estimate did state that there was liquid damage to the phone and the phone was not repairable. As procedure we requested the customer to send the device to our office for salvage and stated that upon verification of the damages, we would provide the current day replacement cost for the device insured. when the device arrived at our offices the liquid sensors were not tripped on the device. We were able to turn on the unit. at this time we received a notice that the device had been improperly reset and would need to have the password to fully reset. As a result, the adjuster requested this information in order to test the functionality of the device. The insure refused to provide that information, he requested to speak with Manager [redacted]. She explained the situation and Worth Ave Group's inability to verify the damages. The insure requested further escalation, Ms. [redacted]  explained that there was no one above her in Claims that he could speak with regarding this situation but that he could speak to another department manager if he chose to. She also stated that She would have one of our technicians examine the device for possible corrosion without it tripping the sensors. He said that would be great. Since then, we have confirmed the corrosion from possible liquid, and will be providing him the payment email regarding the replacement cost of his device.

[redacted] currently has 2 policies with Worth Ave Group, [redacted] and [redacted]. Policy [redacted] insures IMEI [redacted] and Policy [redacted] insures SN [redacted]. Both policies were purchased electronically...

online,   [redacted] as of 8/9/2016 and [redacted] 8/15/2016. On 8/10/2016, the effective date of coverage,  the insured submitted a claim on Policy [redacted]. The sworn statement reads ," 8/10/2016, INCIDENT: I dropped my iPhone on a mountain while taking a picture and it cracked.  DAMAGE: Dents top side and right side, cracked screen" Following review of the claim we requested an Apple Out of Warranty Exchange be completed. Following this claim, Mr. [redacted] has submitted 3 additional over both policies claims reflecting new dates of loss and statements of event. For all claims submitted Mr. [redacted] has provided the same receipt of exchange and requested reimbursement.  Unfortunately Worth Ave Group will not be able to extend coverage due to the fraudulent acts described.
