Van Horn Mazda Reviews (87)

I am really pleased with the customer service and the way I was treated at the dealership. They worked well with me to see what I could afford and I wasn't looking into buying a new car, but I couldn't resist with the warranty and it was in my budget. One thing I really liked to was that I was still able to get what I wanted in color and still had the same features which I really am happy with. I am trying to re-establish my credit and they worked wonderful with me

[redacted] helped me buy a great certified used vehicle. He constantly wanted to do more for me and make my experience the best possible. He was not your typical pushy salesman and their finance manager was excellent also, had us signing and out in a couple of minutes. The dealership is top notch for customer service and do provide an excellent experience.

They were pretty good about the sales and helping me buy my first car ever from a dealership. But that same day I noticed something (rear window seal) was broken and tried to contact them...with no response back.

Excellent Service, very friendly and convenient

Brought my car to van horn for head work. I told them exactly what was wrong but they went and checked everything else, which with diagnostic time is a lot of money. They said a whole engine would be cheaper the. Getting 2 heads? I only have a 4 cylinder which has 1 head. Not only are they uneducated that they also have terrible workmanship. Once I had my car back from them, I looked under the good and the first thing a saw were bolts missing, battery and ecu box were both broken, along with other numerous things.

Van Horn Hyundai was great at helping get us in a new vehicle.

great dealership. Super sales staff. Made buying our new car painless.

[redacted] was awesome! I walked in wanting to purchase a Mazda 3 Hatchback and [redacted] answered all of my questions and gave me all further information I needed to know about this car. If there was a question that he was not sure about he made sure that my question was directed to the appropriate person. Financing was easy and I had 2 cars to trade in and believe I got the appropriate trade in price for them. [redacted] even went with me to my home to pick up the other car! Because there are technical things that I don't quite understand, [redacted] said that I could come back at any time to have things explained and shown to me. The was a very pleasant car buying experience and I have gloated about Van Horn Mazda to my friends and family and recommended that they go to Van Horn Mazda before going anywhere else! I am very happy with my car and with the quality of service and friendliness I received.

Another excellent service experience at Van Horn Hyundai in Sheboygan. Even though it is out of the way for me, the quality and friendliness makes going there worthwhile.

Service writer reviewed my service history on the car, and had a list ready for us to consider in doing the work after I took the car out of Winter storage. Pricing was great, work well done.

I was changing out my rubber brake lines for stainless. Bought a great kit from Moss. Got three of the four replace, no sweat. But the right rear, which has a brass manifold to feed both left and right calipers; had a nut so stuck that no amount of fiddling, using PB blaster, etc would work it free. Rather than cause damage, I called Van Horn. They fit me in; did a fantastic job on that fourth wheel. I also had and H&R front sway bar I hadn't put in yet. They did both jobs in just a few hours with their typical excellent work.
One thing I found really great was there was no shaming my failure to get the fourth line replaced. I really appreciated Scott and his team doing their usual fast, friendly, high quality work.
This is an awesome service facility. We've several vehicles, not all of them Hyundai's or Mazda's; and Van Horn is fantastic on all of them. Don [redacted] almost always is the guy working on my Miata, and his work is top notch!

Our visit to Van Horn Hyundai was very good. Everyone we met was so helpful but Francis went above and beyond to make sure our visit was a good (and fun) experience. He was very thorough when going through all the details of the vehicle and very detailed in instructions on functions of the vehicle.

[redacted] was just great. We walked in with our minds set on a 2012 lincoln MKZ. He answered any questions we had about the vehicle, Trading in my truck was very easy, I got a great price. They gave me over $2500 more than the other dealership I had contacted. I bought my avalanche at Van Horn, and now I've bought my new lincoln at Van Horn. Would recommend this dealership to anyone. Financing was fast easy, we were happy with the payments, price, and trade in we got. The only issue we had was with the car itself the driver seat didn't move, but they gave us card saying they will fix this issue for free and that was good enough for me. The car was absolutely beautiful, the service was fantastic, all the employees were extremely friendly, [redacted] the finance guy was awesome also was very fun to work with. Over all it was a great experience. I have now bought my last 2 vehicles there and I don't think I will ever go anywhere else. I would drive from out of state if need be for this quality of service.

Review: I purchased the 2007 Santa Fe truck on March 23rd was not able to pick up the vehicle until March 29 due to they said they were putting breaks on the vehicle. I called the dealership about the gas door not opening and a few other small repairs I was told I would be called by service never was. I went to the dealership about the process that we went through was wrong per my lender. I walked in with a pre-approval all I needed to do was choose a vehicle within the specifications of that and my credit was ran through 9 different lenders and I left with the lender that I walked in with to begin with. That should not have been done. When I spoke to Anthony about it he was to contact me with a solution of possibly another vehicle was never contacted. Now on April 30th the vehicle started making a loud noise got it checked out and it was the brakes and rotors that needed to be replaced. I had to pay $275.00 for the repair. If they did the 21 point check they say they do on the vehicles and replaced brakes no way I should need breaks and rotors in 30 days. I have called several times they are no longer taking my calls and it is a 45 minute drive and I would have to take off work again to go in person to get brushed off again.Desired Settlement: I want a reimbursement for the repair of $275.00 and to have the other small repairs done at no cost.

Response:

Hi [redacted],Thank you again for your business, but sorry to hear that you experienced an issues with your Santa Fe. Are you able to supply me with more details on the repairs you had done? That will help guide us through if any reimbursement is warranted. What parts were replaced and please include a detailed billing statement showing all costs, the service center that did the work, and a copy of how you paid the bill. Also helpful would be pictures of the old parts along with where the new parts were purchased. As far as the vehicles we sell, let me start by assuring you we follow the Wisconsin standards when involving a safety inspection on a vehicle. I pulled the inspection and noticed the front brakes were measured at 4mm and the rears were 7 and 8mm and all exceed requirements and are expectable measurements so no brakes were changed. We did do some work on a left front brake hose which needed replacement. This may have been the reason you needed to wait before you could take delivery of the vehicle. We also balanced the tires, replaced a sway-bar link, fog light bulb, the passenger side wiper blade, left front inner tie rod end, and a full oil change. You can email all information to [redacted].Again thank you for your business,[redacted]

Review: On Friday 3/16/14 I called Van Horn to discuss financing on a vehicle.

I had previously been approved 2 months earlier but they did not have a vehicle in stock after I was approved. I left the dealership without purchasing a vehicle. After leaving and returning home for the next few weeks I received letter after letter equaling over 25 lenders that had pulled my credit, dropping my credit score over 70 points. Two months later my credit is still down 70 points from Van Horn pulling my credit so many times.

I was waiting for the right vehicle to come onto the market so on 3/16/14 I called Van Horn back to get re approved so I could make my purchase. I was transferred several times before speaking with Anthony in financing. I explained to Anthony that I only would approve them to pull my credit one time because of the problem with my credit dropping 70 points from the last approval. He told me that he would run my credit to the one lender who had previously approved me and only that one lender. Anthony told me he would call me back with in 45 minutes.

I waited 3 hours and after hearing nothing from Anthony I called back and got the switchboard operator, she transferred me and I kept getting re directed and sent to voicemail. I called back again and got Joe and again Monday and got [redacted]. I was transferred each time being told I would get a call back from someone.

I called back after the last call on Monday and said again, please do not pull my credit to more than one lender at which time he informed me he pulled it to ten lenders without my permission.

This company has single handedly pulled my score down almost a hundred points due to their manipulation and bait and switch tactics. The last person I spoke with yelled at me after I told him it was in my application not to pull my credit more than once. He then said he would stop pulling my credit after he already admitted to doing it ten times, I was then hung up on.

The only reason I decided to go with this dealership is because they could get me financing with my self employment and my bank had kept sending me offers with their company. I am so upset with the treatment, not once but twice, they lied to me, wouldn't get back to me, were rude and unconcerned now telling me they couldn't approve my loan after they were the ones who damaged my credit in the first place. I only was told I wasn't approved 2 seconds before I was hung up on.

I was passed back and forth like a hockey puck, not knowing who I was even speaking to. Mike would answer the phone and talk to me and then in the middle of the conversation he said can you hold on a second, then "Hello this is [redacted]". I said I was just talking to Mike. Then he would say how can I help you. I had to explain the situation over and over to the next person, and then they all said they would call me back. With the last person, who I believe was [redacted], who hung up on me.

So I guess if they determine you can't qualify you are no longer a customer to them. It is unfortunate because I was qualified and my credit would eventually go back up but rather than work with me as they claim as part of their advertisements they would not even tell me I was denied. Their way of approving someone is to run their credit 25-100 times if they have to until one approves them and if not then turn them down. I am angry that there is no communication within the company between the employees. There is no reason I should have been tossed back and forth like that and not gotten a direct answer.

I also want to make a note that [redacted] had tried putting me into anything and everything when I was there in December. I kept telling him that I only want one type of vehicle, he had me spend 3+ hours with my infant sitting there when I had come from out of town to test drive a vehicle. I was not happy with the service in December and was very reluctant to even go back after the issues with pulling my credit, making me wait and having different people come sit in f[redacted]t of me pressuring me to buy something that I did not want to buy.

The only person in the whole experience that seemed willing to work with me was [redacted] the car salesman who had nothing to do with the financing part. [redacted] was set on putting me into anything I would be approved for and not what I was looking for. I told him I didn't mind waiting but it was very important for me to find the right vehicle for my family. He continued to ignore my requests and pulled up random vehicles having me test drive four random vehicles that he thought he could get an approval on.

The one vehicle I had wanted was turned down from the bank because it had been in an accident. They refused to allow me to drive the vehicle I requested. The customer service at this location is not only lacking it is down right horrible.

Please look into this complaint so that others do not have credit issues from this horrible company.Desired Settlement: I will be filing a complaint with the credit companies as well as with Revdex.com. An apology will not give me back my 70-100 points that took me from being in a qualifying position to not being able to get a loan. I was never told at any point that my credit would be pulled over 25 times, if not more to get an approval. They went behind my back without communicating to me and pulled my credit an additional ten or more times on top of what was done in December. I am very worried after seeing what happened last time and I do not know what further action I will take if I can not fix what they have done to my credit.

The last man I spoke to hung up on me telling me it wasn't his fault he ran my credit and then he said I told him he could even though in the loan application I put it right in the comments part as Anthony had told me to do as well as calling him back to inform him again that it was unacceptable to run my credit more than once.

At bare minimum I would expect an apology but also want these companies to know what they are doing to customers and how they are treating them.

Response:

First of all we deeply apologize for any misunderstanding that happened with your intentions of purchasing a vehicle from our dealership. We will meet with the staff and explain your situation and take all of the appropriate measures to have better communication with future guests. All we do is sell cars to people that contact us and saying they are interest in buying a car. There is no “trickery” or “bait and switch” or “forcing someone to take a car” or “arguing with guests”. We maybe try a little harder than the next guy to get financing approvals because if you believed enough in us to allow us to get a loan for you, we owe it to you for us to give all the necessary effort to make it happen. And yes we do utilize many lenders as we attempt to gain our guests financing. I don’t think we have 25 lenders to try to accomplish this, but we are always searching for more. We can’t explain about the 70 points you stated your score dipped. We did some research on credit bureau companies and attempted to get a general answer to a general question of “if this happens could this happen”. The answers were unlikely that those events were the result of that scoring. Finally again we apologize and if you would like to discuss this further you can reach our general manager at [redacted] and please ask for [redacted].

Review: I first contacted van horn to see if I could get a loan for bad credit while I was going through bankruptcy , I was denied. After my bankruptcy I tried again and was denied they also wanted me to look at everything but what I wanted. About three months later they called to see if I found a van yet, I told them I just bought a van. About two weeks later I had my credit ran for something and found out van horn had ran my credit 26 times the day before, they were not authorized to. I had called them and was told they would not contact me anymore, I even talked to the legal department and was basically told that if I followed legal action against them they had me on recorded and would make it look like it was my fault . That happened about nine days ago. Today I received a text from a [redacted] at van horn again, I am supposed to be out of their computer by now, I am tired of being harassed by this company and they are ruining my credit, they have ran my credit over 35 times now, and every time your credit gets ran it goes down . Today is 9/10/2015 and I DO NOT WANT A VEHICLE FROM VAN HORN AND DO NOT GIVE MY PERMISSION TO RUN MY CREDIT.Desired Settlement: I do not want van horn to contact me anymore for anything and I definitely do not give my permission to check my credit

Response:

Dear Mr [redacted],This response is from Van Horn Hyundai in Sheboygan WI. I read your complaint and found it very troubling that we would attempt to have 35 lenders run your credit. Usually we try 5 to 10 and that will give us a picture of the possibility of arranging financing. After researching our records I concluded that this is exactly what we did. We summited the information to 6 different lenders and sounds like a small down payment was needed to capture financing. As stated in your complaint you do not want to purchase a vehicle from us and we have no reason to summit your information to any other lenders. I'm still a little confused about the 35 different lenders you said were used to capture financing for you seeing we only used 6. Is it possible that you summited a credit application to other dealerships including several other Van Horn stores because we have a total of 9. If your information was sent to other stores they would have attempted to also gain credit for you and that would have resulted in more inquiries on your report.Sorry if this is confusing but this Van Horn store can only control business at this location. Excellent sales support and conclusion

Review: False Advertising. I was looking at the Van Horn website and I saw a vehicle that I liked being advertised for 19,000. The priced mentioned discounts of 3,035. When I asked what the discounts are for they came back and said that they were for a military discount, kia trade in and Mazda loyalty. Basally the discounts they are advertising are not going to apply to anyone wanting to purchase a vehicle. This is false advertising.Desired Settlement: I would like the business to stop advertising a price that only applies to a very few individuals. They should only be advertising a price that applies to every single person.

Business

Response:

Thanks for the feedback. I can assure you that there is nothing as mentioned “fake”

about our advertising. Over 75% of our business is from repeat loyal Hyundai

and Mazda customers. Of those 100% do meet the requirements for the additional

incentives. If you check our reviews at; https://www.customerlobby.com/reviews/36485/van-horn-hyundai-mazda

you will notice we do offer the best pricing up front and treat each buyer with

respect and get them many incentive discounts that they didn’t realize were available.

We do appreciate your statement and have contacted the web provider to adjust the

verbiage to display the incentives breakdowns. If you are still interested in

the displayed car mentioned at the $19,000 price please contact me; Mike Tasche at

920-457-3608. I’ll see if that vehicle is still available as you described.

Excellent service. Prompt response and very pleasant employees.

Oil change and tire rotation were done on time just as promised.

We just bought a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon, and we love it. The dealership was very accomodating and readily available for questions/concerns/explanations.
