Dear Revdex.com,

Thank you for passing along the case (#[redacted]) submitted by [redacted].  [redacted] purchased a Featured listing with WeddingWire that was set for a term of 12 months.  Upon receiving her complaint, a member of our Customer Success team reached out to attempt to provide [redacted] with an opportunity to have a conversation to improve her experience with WeddingWire, which she declined.  After explaining our termination policy, [redacted] chose to agree to have her account terminated on May 23, 2014.  As both parties agreed to this outcome, we will consider this matter closed.

Dear...

Revdex.com,
Thank you very much for passing along the case (#[redacted]) from [redacted] to us.
When WeddingWire inactivates business listings on our site, we remove all private information. This includes the vendor's personal information and any content they uploaded to the account themselves ('About Us' text, FAQ answers, photos, videos, etc.). However, all public information will always remain in our catalog, which includes a business' name, phone number, and business address. Also, all reviews remain on WeddingWire as they are the full editorial rights of the individuals who publish the content. Once a business listing is inactivated, it simply remains as a place holder for all the reviews posted for the account, since each review must be linked with the business the client wrote the review for.
October 19, 2014 [redacted] emailed the WeddingWire Support team informing WeddingWire that her business, '[redacted]', had closed and that she would like to cancel her WeddingWire listing.
October 20, 2014 WeddingWire Support encouraged [redacted] to formally dispute the negative review on this account before inactivating the account, and offered to dispute the review on her behalf if she would like. The Support Team did not receive a response to this email.
October 21, 2014, a WeddingWire Sales Representative who had spoken to [redacted], sent the Support Team a request to mark the '[redacted]' account as 'Out of Business'. Therefore, the Support Team went ahead and inactivated [redacted]'s business account and added the 'Out of Business' flag to the listing. When an account is listed as 'Out of Business', WeddingWire removes it from our vendor catalog. Therefore, a user can only locate a vendor that is no longer in business on WeddingWire by searching directly by the business name OR by searching for the vendor on a search engine ([redacted], Bing, etc.)
December 15, 2014, [redacted] emailed the WeddingWire Support team to inform us that '[redacted]' was shut down by their Home Owners Association and they needed to have all internet listings removed.
December 16, 2014 WeddingWire Support responded to [redacted] and confirmed the '[redacted]' WeddingWire account was inactivated, and an 'Out of Business' flag was added. We informed her that if the Home Owners Association (HOA) indicated that this inactivated, closed business account is not acceptable then the HOA would need to provide WeddingWire with a court order requiring the removal of the listing to make any further changes
December 16, 2014 [redacted] responded to our Support Team indicating that she did not agree with our policy. Also in her response, [redacted] asks about the negative review posted on the account.
On December 17, 2014 the WeddingWire Support Team responded to [redacted] explaining our review policy and asking [redacted] again if she would like us to dispute the review on her behalf. Once we have her permission, the Support Team will move forward with disputing the review.
Once a review is disputed, it is temporarily hidden on a vendor's public storefront. WeddingWire reaches out to the reviewer directly to verify by either a signed contract or proof of payment whether or not the reviewer was a legitimate client of the vendor. If we receive the requested documentation that shows this reviewer was in fact a client of '[redacted]', then the review will be reinstated. However, if we do not receive the necessary documentation to verify the review, then the review will be removed. WeddingWire only removes reviews that violate our Terms of Use (section 13, specifically). WeddingWire wants vendors to be in control over their WeddingWire account and any reviews they receive, which is why the dispute process was put in place.
As such, the inactive, closed business listing for '[redacted]' will remain. Since all of this information has been explained thoroughly to [redacted] by our Support Team, we consider this matter closed.
Sincerely,
Catherine C[redacted]
Associate Director, Customer Care

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]
 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Again, I have requested reviews be disputed MANY times. This is a run around by Wedding Wire and I am beyond frustrated and tired of the company lying about it. Strict policy or not, reviews and storefront do NOT belong to me. I will be pursuing this further.
Regards,

Thank you for passing along the case #[redacted] submitted by [redacted].  On May 27, 2014, [redacted] purchased a Professional listing for her venue location, [redacted].  A member of our Customer Success team made attempts to work with [redacted] to resolve her delinquent payment of her account.  However, [redacted] was not able to resolve her delinquency within the proper amount of time allotted.  Therefore, her listing and the agreement were terminated as part of our termination policy on August 20, 2014.  Due to this fact, we consider the matter closed.

BE WARNED! Wedding Wire is a "Total Sham!"
They have called and e-mailed me relentlessly for years trying to earn our companies business. Their advertising rates were 4 to 10 times higher other online wedding sites. They always seemed to brag and boast about how great their online presence was and how much business we were losing out on by not advertising with them. We finally gave them their shot to prove what they had stated for so many years. We were told that we "Had To" be with them for a minimum of six moths and that within that time we would see a positive return... NOT SO! Our phone didn't ring one time... NOT ONCE in SIX LOOOOOOOONG MONTHS!
Please Note: We worked relentlessly in building our store, getting our customers to give us positive reviews on our Wedding Wire Listing and adding Professional Photos & Videos as seen here: https://vimeo.com/**SSN** & https://vimeo.com/**SSN**
We ended our advertising at the six months due to not getting a single customer and not even a single call. Since then we have received more and more of there advertising e-mails and online feedback forms which we filled in twice stating our dissatisfaction and have never heard anything back... not a phone call, not a reply, NOTHING!
BOTTOM LINE IS "WEDDING WIRE IS VERY GOOD AT MAKING BOASTS AND CLAIMS AND TAKING MONEY.... DELIVERING ON THOSE BOAST IS NOT THEIR GAME AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPECTED!

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
To add some additional detail, a customer service manager / specialist contacted me the next day after I filed my complaint with Revdex.com. Since then, we have had excellent communication as their best effort was put forward to provide a suitable and FAIR resolution (which likely would have come much sooner if not for the holiday season). I am grateful for the time that was taken to really understand what our complaint was about.

Dear Revdex.com,
Thank you for forwarding this response over. WeddingWire has a very open dispute policy which we always encourage users to use should they feel that a review has been posted on their account by error. We will take this last response from **. [redacted] as her formal dispute request and request the two negative reviews that are on her account. The review will only be removed if the reviewer is not able to provide proof that they were a legitimate client.

Thank you for notifying us of complaint #[redacted] submitted by Ms. [redacted].
Ms. [redacted]' colleague purchased a 'Professional' listing from WeddingWire for her business, [redacted], on September 17, 2014.  The terms of the agreement were for a length of 12 months, with the option to cancel the listing with no penalty after the sixth month, as long as the customer was in good financial standing with their account.  Ms. [redacted] listing was not in good financial standing at this point in time, based on the agreed payment terms, and therefore was not eligible for the early cancellation option.
A member of the WeddingWire Customer Success team reached out to Ms. [redacted] to inform her of this and provided her with all the documentation of the sale and terms of agreement.  We have yet to receive a response from Ms. [redacted] but look forward to discussing this with her directly.

Dear Revdex.com,
Thank you very much for passing along the response (case #[redacted]) from [redacted] of [redacted] to us.
As explained previously, WeddingWire is rather strict when it comes to our review policy. When a review is submitted on our site, a reviewer must include an email address when submitting their review in the event WeddingWire needs to contact that reviewer for verification purposes. It is important to also note that individuals can choose to submit an anonymous review, if they do not want their personal information to be shared with the public. When a reviewer chooses to post an anonymous review, their event date and full name are hidden and not shared with the vendor. This particular reviewer that published feedback about their experience working with [redacted], chose to submit an anonymous "Private User" review.
Per our Terms of Use WeddingWire only allows reviews to be posted by individuals that conducted business directly with the vendor they submitted a review for. In order to determine whether or not a review abides by our Terms of Use, WeddingWire requires the reviewer - via the email address they submitted when posting their review - sends us either a signed contract with both parties signatures OR a proof of payment (i.e. cashed check, bank statement, etc.). This particular anonymous reviewer sent us both a signed contract and multiple proofs of payment, which is more than the required documentation WeddingWire needs to ensure a review abides by our Terms of Use. As this vendor initially requested, we reached out to the reviewer again after receiving an initial proof of payment, to then receive additional proofs of payment and the signed contract. Therefore, we have more than enough documentation to ensure this individual was in fact a paying customer of [redacted], and therefore the review abides by WeddingWire's Terms of Use and will be reinstated on our platform.
Due to our privacy policy, WeddingWire does not disclose personal documents or information we receive from a reviewer to any third parties. Just as we do not disclose vendor personal information with third parties, we also do not disclose reviewer personal information. We respect a reviewer's decision to publish anonymous feedback, and will not disclose the documents they sent to WeddingWire to verify their review without their permission. If this vendor would like to obtain the documents we received from this reviewer, they would need to receive a court order requesting said documents. Or, if the vendor would like to send us a blank copy of their contract, we would be more than happy to compare it to the information we received from the reviewer. However, considering we received more proof than solely a signed contract, this would not necessarily mean the outcome of the verification process would change, but we would be more than happy to look over their contract.
We definitely understand that this business is frustrated that they received a negative review from one of their clients, but since the review abides by our review policy and was in fact written by a client of theirs, the review is permitted on our site. We will not be removing the review, nor will we be requesting any further information than already received from the reviewer. We would be happy to help the vendor draft a response to the review to share their perspective when this review is reinstated, and as mentioned look over a copy of their blank contract. However, beyond that, the verification process for this review has been thoroughly explained to this vendor and has been verified more than our normal process requires. Therefore, WeddingWire considers this matter closed and will wait to receive the formal court order and/or blank copy of the contract directly from this business.
Sincerely,
Emma G[redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,

Thank you very much for passing along the rejection response with case #[redacted] from [redacted] to us.
[redacted] was issued a refund for the entire amount of her payments to WeddingWire, including the credit card charge-back fee. We confirmed today that this payment has now been received by her credit card company. Please note that this can take up to 7 days for the credit card company to then credit this back to her account.
If [redacted] would like the details of the transaction, we encourage her to reach out to WeddingWire directly and we would be happy to share the transaction details.
Since [redacted] has been issued a complete refund for her purchase price, we consider this matter closed.
Sincerely,
Emma G[redacted]

Business

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: Like many, I signed up with Wedding Wire for a free wedding vendor listing and periodically got phone calls and emails telling me of all the great benefits of upgrading to a professional or premium paid listing included high viability of my own website on [redacted]. After going through some major health problems I have been trying to rebuild my business of some 15 years, and thought perhaps Wedding Wire would be the winning ticket for getting me back on track as they are at the top of the search engines and told me of the great success others business in my area were having advertising on their site with well over one thousand visitors each month to local listing pages in my category of business. I specifically asked if [redacted], NY, [redacted], and other surrounding Cities and towns surrounding [redacted] would be included in The [redacted] listing that they were trying to get me to sign up for. I explained that this was very important to me as this was my primary services area and I had worked hard at promoting my self in the past as a leader in this area and even gone so far as to make [redacted] my primary domain name. Again I wanted to make sure [redacted] was included as it is the location of some of [redacted]'s most prominent and well know wedding locations that have provided a great deal of income for me in the past, While [redacted] is my hometown which I also have done a great deal of business in as well. I was assured that both [redacted] and [redacted] would be covered, so I gave them my credit card number and asked to be billed for the $62/month advertising plan. As of January 20, 2014 my premium paid advertise listing went live in the DJ category for [redacted] catalog. At the time Wedding Wire did not have any analytic tracking features on their site for customers however I was able to track clicks to my website vi my web site hosting company and saw very little traffic from Wedding Wire no more than 4-15 clicks a month and non of them converted into a captured lead, Unlike a similar site I was running a similar ad on. I had several conversations with reps to try to get better performance and boost the effectiveness of my listing. I tried doing everything they suggested to make my listing look like everyone else and got a few past client to review me. In the process of it all discovered that I was not being promoted in [redacted] or most of the [redacted] area. It turns out it was not included in the [redacted] catalog after all and that I had been lied to. I approached them about switching to the [redacted] catalog which would include [redacted] but not [redacted] or [redacted] but decided to try switching to the [redacted] vidoegraphy category first as there were less paid featured listings to compete with and they were trying to reassure me that my listing would get lots of traffic. Again results were the same. Recently Wedding Wire added a feature that allows vendors to track both listing views and clicks to vendors web site and how they compared to other advertisers on the site in their category, and I can now clearly see that the numbers are no where near 1,000, not even 700. I understand that different times of the year there are higher search volumes then others but this is no where close to what they would have me believe. Interestingly though I did discover that my listing was actually doing better then others at the same paid listing level when I ran the ad rather than making it look the way they told me to, like all the others yet I still was not getting many clicks to my site and no conversion into leads. Finally they told me that they were considered a review site and that in order to succeed on their site I would need to have tons of reviews. This was a problem for me as I was basically building my company from scratch since I had not done a lot of business recently due to my health issues. I asked to be switched to the larger [redacted] catalog. They said it would be no problem I would just have to commit to another year! I told them I did not see the point of committing to another year when the current listing was not working. I told them just to drop me back to a free listing and forget it. They said that I had sign up for a year contract and would not be able to drop it until next January. I was aware that the service commitment was for a year however I looked through my emails and don't believe I have a contract from them nor do I recall ever signing anything and even if I did I was sold the service and entered the agreement under faults pretenses, be told that both [redacted], NY and [redacted] would be covered, that I would be receiving traffic from thousands of customers a month, my website would be more visible in [redacted] witch I think I actually got worse results and have had to work harder to get my sites to show up in [redacted]. Also in one their sales emails they made it look like my wedding wire listing would show up in [redacted] at the top of the search engine which even though I optimized the listing as told have not seen it consistently show up anywhere and actually have seen free listings do the same thing. I am tired of being lied to and given the run around.Desired Settlement: I would like either my listing dropped back to free light status with continued access to build reviews and update my listing as desired and a full refund, or the rest of my contract carried out in the [redacted], NY catalog at no further cost to me with the option to renew if I see it to be profitable, or to carry out the remainder of the contract in the current catalog at the next level up again at no cost to me with the option to renew if it turns out to be profitable. this whole mishap has not only cost me money of pocket but also cost me potential jobs I could have gotten from putting my money in advertising that actually worked. It is now so far in the season I most likely will lose out on half of the wedding seasons business if not all of it.

Review: I asked WeddingWire to delete my account. They informed me they can delete my account but claim the reviews are the brides property and will remain on their site. They also claim that MY business name is public information and it will also remain on their site. I don't see how WeddingWire can legally post my business name without my consent, along with my personal name and business name being in the reviews themselves, because that information is NOT property of the brides. I just kept getting the same response; brides property and public information. I have contacted multiple other sites requesting my personal and business information to be removed and they all removed it immediately. Something tells me that WeddingWire is beating around the bush until I take legal action. So I am hoping they will resolve my complaint by taking this route first.Desired Settlement: Delete my entire profile, my personal name and my business name, wherever it appears on your website, along with not providing this information to your sister sites.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Thank you very much for passing along this case from **. [redacted] to us complaint #[redacted].

When WeddingWire inactivates accounts we remove the personal contact information, photos, and content from a WeddingWire storefront. Also, WeddingWire no longer contacts that business directly. However, the basic listing information, such as business name, is public information and remains on our site as a place holder for individuals to write reviews for that business in the future. Our continued use of a business's basic listing information is protected under the law and is in accordance with the doctrine of fair use.

It is against WeddingWire's Terms of Use for an individual to post any personally identifiable information within a review. Therefore, if any reviews include full names, dates of birth, addresses, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information then they are inactivated.

The reviews on WeddingWire are the full editorial rights of the individuals who write them. Unless the review violates the WeddingWire review guidelines, we do not remove reviews. The individual who wrote the review is able to edit or remove their review at any time. Also, vendors are always able to post public responses to reviews on their WeddingWire storefront to share their perspective.

Sincerely,

Review: I had a difficult time choosing the primary nature of this complaint because it touches on a few different issues. 2 months ago I signed my business up for a paid profile on Wedding Wire. (1) On the sign up page it does not say that you cannot change your profile back to the free or less expensive plan if the higher one you sign up does not work for you. The company presents itself like there is a satisfaction guarantee and you can feel confident that your needs will be addressed. Anyway... (2) My type of business cannot benefit from their service because the requirements of their program cannot be met by my business. How? Well, they keep telling me that in order to get results from their program I need to upload videos and I need to have customer comments. Problem is that people just don't do that in my industry. When I tell them this they just give me a hard time and insist that I am supposed to convince my customers to do these things. I run a business, I am a busy person and I don't have time to chase people around harassing them for feedback. These kinds of testimonials apply to photographers, bands, etc, not to the person who makes the invitations and favors. Regardless, I asked them to just cancel my profile because it is not working for me. I have not asked for a refund for time used I just simply do not think I should have to pay for continued services that don't work for me or my business. They refuse to cancel my account and threaten me with "what will happen" if my account falls behind in payment. The way I see it is that I am NOT SATISFIED with the product or service and should not be extorted into continuing to pay for it when they do not publicly post on their website that you CANNOT cancel.Desired Settlement: I want Wedding Wire to cancel my account and stop billing me for services that do not meet my needs. After that, I want them to stop calling me insisting that they know more about my business than I do.

Business

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I became a vendor for Wedding Wire about 7 months ago. Right now, I have been laid off my full time job, am broke, have no credit cards to fall back on, and they still won't help me. This is the lowest point I have ever been in, financially, and they only have one option. They say that I have to provide documentation that states I am going out of business. They will then label my listing as "OUT OF BUSINESS" instead of just taking it off the server! Then I asked if that label will be removed once we pass the end of my contract time. The answer is "No, it will say you are 'OUT OF BUSINESS' until you start paying for another listing on our site." I can guarantee that I will NEVER advertise with them again, and it's not right for them to indefinitely label me as out of business even when I am trying to grow my company in other ways.Desired Settlement: I want to cancel my contract, stop all payments immediately and have my listing completely removed. I don't want my business' name to show up anywhere on their site. I also do not want it to say anywhere on their site that I have gone out of business.
