WeddingWire Reviews (106)

Review: On May 27, 2014, I spoke with Wedding Wire Lead Senior Account Executive Sarah M[redacted] who very persuasively sold me the Professional Package for my new wedding venue that I'll be opening in October of this year. I was reluctant to purchase anything at all, since our venue isn't even open yet, but she convinced me it was a good idea anyway because brides were planning for 2015 weddings now. After her telling me the price was $150 per month and after I reviewed their plans & pricing page (on their website) for vendors, I reluctantly agreed to advertise on their site. I told her that I guess it wouldn't hurt to try, but I wanted to set up as a vendor at a wedding show in January, and I only had a $500 per year budget for advertising. She never told me that I would be locked in to a one year contract, and it is NOT stated on the plans price sheet on the site. I NEVER would have committed to a one year term, considering that is $1,300 over my yearly budget. She worked very hard to keep me interested and keep me on the phone until I agreed to pay the first monthly payment; giving her my credit card number and receiving a confirmation, at which time she still never told me that this was a monthly locked in, one year payment plan. After e-mailing them asking them to cancel my Professional Listing and move my account back to the Free listing, I was told this was impossible, and I was completely shocked at this realization. They were not willing to budge on this issue and have stated that they will not excuse me from the "contract", even though they have NO proof that the account executive was completely honest and upfront with me.Desired Settlement: I would like to be excused from my "contract" with wedding wire for the rest of their one year term, and my account to be moved from the Professional listing to the Free listing.

Dear Revdex.com,??

Review: I initially started a Vendor WedddingWire Account on 11/26/13. and received several inquiries via email and phone to start advertising with them. In February 14th I started advertising with them. I strongly believe WeddingWire has unfair practices and I wish other businesses would not have go through my experience. The reason why I signed up with was because they rave about having the most visited site for brides and that you will get so many leads. They assign each advertised account a success manager representative that's supposed to help you. Right after the first month. I been contacting my account manager to let her know that I'm not seeing any results or any type of inquiries. I've done everything the account manager suggested such as adding pictures, adding phone numbers to my website, getting more reviews from my past and current clients and all suggestions she requested. My experience with my account manager has been very unpleasant to say the least. As a business I'm not getting any return. In the past three months I've received 0 inquiries. I even have a featured account which gives you higher exposure than Premium Members. I don't know where they are getting their Beta Reports from. WeddingWire advertisement is not working for me. Yesterday I talked to my account manager again to express all my frustration and concerns. When I told her I no longer want to advertise with them because I don't see any benefits she said I am in a 12 month contract. I told her I want to talk to supervisor and escalate this issue and she said she was only the other person I would deal with and that there is nobody else. When I heard those words I was very upset. I know I'm not the only vendor complaining about this issue. Just by looking at the Revdex.com I see they've had 22 closed complaints in the last 12 months. Also by doing a search on the web I see same complaints from vendors that caved in into advertising with them. This has to stop .Desired Settlement: Stop payment. Why would I pay for a service when I'm not getting anything in return it just does not make sense.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: There is a listing for my business on their website Wedding Wire. But an anonymous person has made a personal attack against me that is not all over the internet. It has NOTHING to do with [redacted] and I'd like it removed. This is what it says:[redacted] has to be one of the most unkind, rude, arrogant, and for lack of a better word stupidest people I have ever met. I seriously question the existence of that woman's heart and brain. She is an absolutely selfish, vile, and disgusting individual to the greatest degree and is under the constant delusion that it is everyone else who has the problem and not her. I've only met a few people in my life with such arrogance. Oh and who spells their name with 3 z's?!?!? What a tool!

Wedding: 1+ year ago

the link is: [redacted]Desired Settlement: I don't mind any criticism on the website regarding my company but it should not be a personal attack against me.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

BE WARNED! Wedding Wire is a "Total Sham!"
They have called and e-mailed me relentlessly for years trying to earn our companies business. Their advertising rates were 4 to 10 times higher other online wedding sites. They always seemed to brag and boast about how great their online presence was and how much business we were losing out on by not advertising with them. We finally gave them their shot to prove what they had stated for so many years. We were told that we "Had To" be with them for a minimum of six moths and that within that time we would see a positive return... NOT SO! Our phone didn't ring one time... NOT ONCE in SIX LOOOOOOOONG MONTHS!
Please Note: We worked relentlessly in building our store, getting our customers to give us positive reviews on our Wedding Wire Listing and adding Professional Photos & Videos as seen here: https://vimeo.com/**SSN** & https://vimeo.com/**SSN**
We ended our advertising at the six months due to not getting a single customer and not even a single call. Since then we have received more and more of there advertising e-mails and online feedback forms which we filled in twice stating our dissatisfaction and have never heard anything back... not a phone call, not a reply, NOTHING!
BOTTOM LINE IS "WEDDING WIRE IS VERY GOOD AT MAKING BOASTS AND CLAIMS AND TAKING MONEY.... DELIVERING ON THOSE BOAST IS NOT THEIR GAME AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPECTED!

Review: This company advertises and talks you in to trying their service, then when you try to cancel, they tell you that you are locked into a contract for 12 months. I never signed anything, nor was I told that trying this service meant I was locked in for 12 months....yet they refuse to stop charging me.Desired Settlement: Refund monies received since I asked for the service to be cancelled & no longer charge me for this service that I do not want & didn't sign for.

The terms for all WeddingWire purchases are available on the website, within each customer's account, and provided within an email receipt upon completion of the purchase. On September 25, 2014, [redacted] expressed to a representative of WeddingWire that he did not wish to continue his payments for his listing, and that he was not made aware of the length of the agreement. Due to his failure to keep his account in good financial standing, [redacted]'s agreement was terminated by WeddingWire on October 20, 2014. Review: I purchased 1800.00 in highest status to receive top placement on their website as a makeup and hair stylist vendor

to appear in the first page and first row in listings when people do a search for my services

I have received 2 leads to date and I am paying 1800.00 a year

I feel like their business practices are unethical; they remove any bad reviews that are left yet anyone can leave a review? So people are building their pages up with mass reviews and clients are purchasing services from shady vendors because they falsified or got reviews posted by people that were not truly clients, and their bad reviews were removed because they are paying vendors

There are many complaints about this practice on [redacted] etc and many unhappy vendors

I only have one review because mine is real however there are many vendors who post ridiculous amounts of false reviews and therefore get hundreds of reviews

So no one looks at my page because I only have one review even though I am paying top dollar to be on page one

They have an iron clad contract so I cannot get my money back I just want them to either change their practices or moving forward have a clause thta allows the vendor to get out of contract if dissatisfied as I feel I was completely ripped off and am not getting results for my money yet I can do NOTHING about itDesired Settlement: I want them to implement a refund policy and/or a strict review policy where only wedding wire clients can leave reviews for those they hired

I don't want it as strict as [redacted] filtering every review but like thumbtack where only applicable reviews are listed

To: [redacted] <[redacted]>

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I have tried to talk to them about closing out my account. They said that I am on a one year contract which was not clearly stated. They did not re[redacted] explain about the one year contract. They just let it slip out as word by word in other definition. I am not getting any leads as it sounded like. They are keep backtracking me to other ways to become successful with the web site. it does not help at all.

I have told warned them that if I cannot close the account and then I will shut my card off. They said

If you shut off your card and next month's payment is declined then your account will automatic[redacted] be turned over to internal collections. Unfortunately, you'll also be locked out of your account and won't be able to reactivate that account until you pay off the balance of your delinquency.

this is the whole message via email

Hi,

I a [redacted] sorry that you are not happy with your WeddingWire listing. You have only been visible on our site for a few weeks, so I would encourage you to be patient! Have you been following the advice [redacted] gave you? Couples use our site to read reviews and book their vendor, so the best thing you can do to get attention is to collect reviews from other weddings and events you've booked in the past.

(what tips? I only had like three gigs in the past)

Remember we discussed your listing was going to be for a 12 month term? The receipt for your first monthly installment indicated a 12 month term as well- I've attached that receipt for your reference.

(I do not and where is the in-writing)

I assure you, WeddingWire is not a scam. We have more than 200,000 businesses on our site, and our upgraded listings see very high renewal rates because they are seeing success! Would you let [redacted] help you with your listing? Have you spoken with [redacted] to see if he can give you an tips?

(do the research and you will see)

If you shut off your card and next month's payment is declined then your account will automatic[redacted] be turned over to internal collections. Unfortunately, you'll also be locked out of your account and won't be able to reactivate that account until you pay off the balance of your delinquency.

I hope you'll collect reviews and work with [redacted] to make sure you see success with your listing going forward!

All my best,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to close out the account. It seems to be a scam, when you are on the phone to set up for services. they do not tell you about a contract or no early termination.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I have contacted WeddingWire multiple times over the past year asking them to remove my "vendor" account from their website, as well as their many affiliated sites. I attempted to delete my account in June 2014, as I no longer photograph weddings, but they refuse to remove my information and associated reviews from their server. I have not worked in the wedding industry for several years now, and do not want this site associated with my name or business.

At the moment, WeddingWire and [redacted] come up in the first page of [redacted] search results for my name. [redacted] and other search engines cannot remove the page from it's cache unless the page has first been deleted by the website. This is hindering my business and it's a false representation of my professional work.Desired Settlement: I'd like WeddingWire to immediately and permanently delete my information from their servers and all of their affiliated sites.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I attempted to submit a review on WeddingWire against a business that had scammed me, thinking it would be in the best interest of other brides to know about the unethical business practices. WeddingWire removed the review, claiming it was not valid because I had cancelled my services with the vendor - which I needed to do to avoid being scammed out of more money. Additionally, WeddingWire does not take down false positive reviews that the business has posted in order to make the**elves look better, despite these reviews being flagged as false advertising.Desired Settlement: I would like WeddingWire to change their policy to allow for reviews from brides with contracts they had to cancel. Additionally, I would like my review reinstated and I would like the false advertising posts on [redacted] to come down.

Dear Revdex.com, Thank you very much for passing along the case (#[redacted]) from [redacted] to us. We apologize for the late response as we have currently been reviewing our review policy and specifically looking into whether or not trial review should be allowed.WeddingWire serves as a neutral platform for newlyweds to share their experiences with the community. These experiences are the full editorial rights of the individuals who write the reviews. Unless the review violates the WeddingWire review guidelines, we do not remove reviews. **. [redacted]'s review for [redacted] was initially disputed on June 20, 2013. This review was inactivated on August 23, 2013 as at the time it violated WeddingWire's review guidelines. At the time, WeddingWire did not allow reviews for individuals who solely had a trial experience with a vendor and did not contract the vendor for their actual event. Since then WeddingWire has restructured our review policy. We now allow reviews for trial experiences with a vendor as long as the individual paid for the trial and can send us proof of this payment upon request. Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: First off, WeddingWire has made no effort to contact me as they had 'promised' to do. Secondly, while this is a minor improvement in their policy it still does not protect brides such as myself or other wedding party members who paid for services who were pressured by the business into paying cash by the business and did not receive a receipt. Luckily, in my case, I have a cheque made out to the business owner; however, I have no guarantee that is sufficient proof of payment.

Secondly, WeddingWire has made no attempt to verify or remove the fake positive reviews that were posted by GlamGorgeous. As such, they still do not demonstrate adequate concern for brides and still favour the businesses. ANY flagged review should be taken down for verification purposes.

Review: About twelve months ago I accepted a phone call from Wedding Wire to upgrade my free listing to a paid premium listing. The representative gave me this fantastic call on all the support they give their clients, that the company is there for the vendors to succeed, they are only a phone call or email away if we need assistance etc. I thought it sounded ok and she said to quote "lets give it a try and see how it goes" - after I gave my credit card number she told me the rate was guaranteed for 12 months and if I have any problems give them a call. I was never told it was a binding non-cancellable contract. They keep claiming I got some terms of service which I did not but fully admit this is sent AFTER they run our credit card. About Six weeks ago my account got ANOTHER new representative at which point I said I wanted to close my premium account. I never received any assistance on my account any time I sent an email it would go weeks without being answered, my phone calls have never been returned, etc. The customer service is terrible. About 6 months ago my credit card expired and they called us between 6-8 times a day for 5 days straight to update the credit card - yet they can't return one customer service call. Long story short I have been trying everything in my power to resolve this issue with them but they are refusing to let us part ways without making the final payment of $140. I feel they have not lived up to their end of this deal. personally I would like a refund of all 11 months I have received or I would like 11 months of complimentary service with all the support they promised to provide. They over promised and under delivered in every aspect. Finally escalated customer service representative [redacted] claims he is the top person at WeddinG Wire and he is the end all be all to my situation. I know this is not accurate and would like a conversation with someone in upper management.Desired Settlement: I would like a phone call from upper management - my last payment of $140 to be graciously waived. A refund of the 11 months of service I received or 11 months on complimentary service.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I NEVER agreed to a 12 month term - that is where this whole problem started. In addition Wedding Wire did not follow through on the promises that were made to me upon the start of my premium listing. I have no problem escalating this to the Attorney General and filing lawsuit.

Review: Then "nature of the complaint" field does not offer an exact match but this is partially accurate. The misleading information provided by Wedding Wire does cause additional damage by allowing vendors to provide poor services and then have no honest review of the experience.

As I have seen in several other unresolved complaints against this company for their deceptive review process. They only allow positive reviews about vendors. It is a blatant lie to say they have a "NEUTRAL" review process when it is easy to see that they only have positive reviews. No truly neutral review site would be so positive about every vendor. This practice is detrimental to their customers who trust them to provide honest information. It is also unsettling that the Revdex.com has so many similar complaints but there is no rating on this company.Desired Settlement: This is not a "store" but their policy is flawed and it needs to be changed. They should be openly reviewed as dishonest by the Revdex.com. Their review process should be taken down!

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I had a free listing with Wedding Wire for a good amount of time. In February of 2013, I was contacted by [redacted] via email who sent me the following:

I wanted to reach out to let you know that the catalog has now changed and is no longer listing the basic listings. I know that you said you could not afford to upgrade at this time, so please let me know if anything changes. I would hate for you to lose exposure and miss out on our brides, especially since you were already averaging 20+ clicks a month with just our free listing in the catalog.

Let me know if you would like to upgrade in the near future or if you have any questions! I look forward to speaking to you soon!

Best,

###-###-#### X 293

During my phone conversation with [redacted], I was told that Wedding Wire wasn't supporting free listings anymore, and was also told that with a paid listing I would increase traffic to my website and increase bookings. I had been contacted by Wedding Wire the year before by a [redacted] and declined paying for advertising after I had heard from other photographers that it did not present a good ROI. During my phone conversation with **. [redacted], I was told that not only would I see increased traffic to my website, but I would also see an increase in bookings. I expressed my concern about what I had heard from other photographers, but was told that my market was different, and would see different results. She made it sound that the only way I could list with Wedding Wire was through a paid listing. During the year that I signed with Wedding Wire, I had very little increase in traffic to my webiste (as I found in my [redacted] Analytics results), one inquiry from a budget bride, and NO bookings. Any seminars or marketing tips or services they offered were either redundant because I have them through other services, or were things I already knew and had gotten for free either through my own research or complimentary seminars through other vendors. I had expressed my concern a number of times throughout the year to [redacted] and even spoke face to face with [redacted], Wedding Wire's Director of Marketing, about my concerns. You would think that would demand some attention to get me the results I was told I would get, but it didn't. The company had been informed on several occasions that I was not satisfied.

What has basically happened is that I was not given the results that I was promised, and ended up paying for a service that gave me the same results I got with a free listing - ZERO. Any sensible person would have left after they saw it was not a fit, but the contract locks you into a year's agreement so you can't. That's very convenient for them because a lot more people would leave after three to six months when they discover it doesn't work and ask for a refund. If you try to call your credit card company and ask for a chargeback, Wedding Wire has the right to come after you for twice that amount. So basically, they took my money and ran.Desired Settlement: What I want is the listing I paid for at the level I paid for it extended for an additional year without charge and for Wedding Wire to work harder to get the results I was promised. What I really want is a full refund of what I was charged, but I'm certainly not going to have them come back after me for it for twice the amount. I want to be made whole, and the contract didn't do that.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I have had a business profile with Wedding Wire for a long Time - without purchasing one of their memberships.

I recently made the mistake of purchasing one of their memberships becuase they advertised that we woudl try it out for 30 days...then if we were not satisfied we could cancel.

Prior to purchasing the membership I was able to edit my profile, dispute inaccurate reviews, and update all of my information.

I recently told them I want to cancel my membership and return to the free service.

I was told I could not cancel and had to pay them a membership fee for a year. I was told that if I dispute any charges to my credit card that they woudl lock my profile (not returnin it to the free settings) and restrict access to my profile to where I would not be able to log in or dispute any inaccurate reviews - as I had done when I was using the free service, prior to purchasing the membership.Desired Settlement: Return the 2nd membership fee they charged.

Cancel the membership and return me to the free service that I had previously - with all of the same options and services that were offered prior to my trial membership.

Do not retaliate or punish my profile just because I no longer want the membership.

No longer send threatening or harassing emails.

Review: I signed up for wedding wire network pro services to have my website listed in their network knowing that I can cancel anytime I want to. But I when I tried to contact them about canceling my service because its not helping instead has a negative impact on our SEO they said that they can't cancel it. They locked me in a contract without my consent or knowledge. This company has engaged or locked me in a false contract or some sort. I have already contacted my bank to stop any more charges from this company of any sort. Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

I am rejecting this response because: The definition of 'neutral' is "not engaged on either side." If WeddingWire is neutral, then it would allow both positive and negative reviews of vendors (or it would allow no reviews). It is unethical to claim to be neutral and then remove all honest negative reviews of vendors, while leaving only positive reviews in place. A great example of an ethical online review process is amazon.com; this site allows both positive and negative reviews so that the customer can truly make his/her best choice on whether to proceed with a purchase.

Thank you, Revdex.com, for being in place and allowing the generally unprotected consumer from to bring to light unethical business practices.

Review: I was advised that weddingwire.com would assist in increasing my wedding client revenue. What was failed to be mentioned was that the revenue would be based off of existing wedding clients reviewing you on their site. Basically if you do not have reviews from Brides who have used their services for wedding photography (past tense) then they cannot review your services. I have over 70 clients that would have reviewed my services in general, but they were unable to do so. I have used their service going on my 4th month and I have not even received 1 inquiry. I have tried to cancel my contract with them because I have been unhappy with the service since the first month, but they will not let me cancel.Desired Settlement: I just want to be able to cancel my membership and removed from their website without having to pay out the annual fee due to misrepresentation of their product.

Review: I was misled, if not lied to, during the sales process, first by [redacted], and later by [redacted], concerning the anticipated storefront traffic. Both wildly inflated typical results. The service provided is not as described when sold to me, lacks significant marketing value, is borderline fraudulent, and constitutes a complete waste of money.

I am disgusted with the service, and the results, or lack thereof, don't come close to the expectations set forth by the sales staff. I would like to respectfully request that my plan be ended early, and all money paid be refunded.Desired Settlement: Please issue a full refund of all money paid. To date: 9 payments of $55.83 = $502.47

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Thank you for passing along the case (#[redacted]) from **. [redacted] to us.

After receiving **. [redacted]'s complaint, a member of our Customer Success team reached out to **. [redacted] to try and improve his experience with WeddingWire. After explaining our termination policy, **. [redacted] agreed to the terms and WeddingWire terminated his listing on February 5, 2014. Because **. [redacted]'s listing has been terminated, we consider this matter closed.

Sincerely,
