Review: I entered the 42nd Street Photo store after researching the purchase of a Canon 5D Mark iii digital camera online. I work in NYC and felt it would be better to visit the store in person to get some questions answered. I entered the store with knowledge from their online sales price for the model in question, which was $2,549. While in the store the sales person advised me that the price I saw online is for the "non-US model". I asked what that was. He said it was "basically the same camera, but a little cheaper because it was made in Taiwan" and therefore was an "import model" that did not come with the 1 year US warranty. I was told if I wanted the US warranty I would have to pay for the US model made in Japan and the price for that model was $2,949. I was strongly encouraged to take the US model since I was considering a purchase of this size. I noted that the online ad did not state the $2549 price was for the import model, to which the sale person just looked at me a shrugged his shoulders, saying if I wanted to pay that price it would be fine...I just wouldn't have a warranty. So I opted to purchase the "US Model" with the full warranty.

Having now researched the matter it is clear this was a fraudulent sales technique designed to get me to pay more for the camera. There is NO such Canon 5D Mark iii made in Taiwan. Upon researching further it became very clear that this seller has used this sales technique to defraud many others in the same manner. I am basing this statement on the Revdex.com complaints filed against this seller in the past. Many of the accounts I read echo the experience I had.Desired Settlement: I would like an immediate refund of the price difference between $2,949 and $2,549, plus the 8.875% tax paid on that same amount. The total amount due would be $435.50.

Further, I strongly urge someone from the State of NY visit this location and further investigate their sales practices as they are clearly unfair, deceptive and abusive.

Review: On 12/**/15, I placed an order via the 42nd Street Photo Website to purchase a Canon EOS 7D Mark II Camera and extended warranty, totaling $1748.99 ($1429.00 for the camera + $319.99 for a "Total Protection" extended warranty). This is the only Canon EOS 7D Mark II camera with lens, offered via the 42nd Street Photo website. The "Regular price" is shown to be $1,749, which is the retail market price for the camera at other merchants ([redacted], [redacted], etc.), and is shown to be marked down to $1429. I purchased this camera in good faith that I was purchasing the normal, retail model of the camera, as the website listing did not indicate otherwise.

On 12/**/15, I received a call from "Jack" at 42nd Street Photo (call lasted from 12:18-12:24 PM EST). He claimed that the camera I purchased was "not a U.S. camera" and that it did not come with a factory warranty, and that to get a "U.S. camera" with a factory warranty, I would have to pay an additional $320.99, bringing my total cost to $2,069.98. I was confused and dismayed by these claims, and thinking I had made an error in my purchase, I authorized these additional charges. This amounts to a "bait-and-switch" scam, as the consumer was duped into purchasing one item and then upsold via high-pressure sales call after the fact.

After hanging up the phone, I immediately felt uncomfortable with this conversation and discovered that the NYC Revdex.com rated 42nd Street Photo as "unaccredited" and there were a litany of similar customer complaints. At 12:53 PM EST on 12/**/2015, less than half an hour after the "upsell" call, I contacted 42nd Street Photo to cancel my order, having determined that I have been a victim of a "bait-and-switch" scam. I spoke with a 42nd Street Photo representative who would not identify himself, and he refused to cancel my order, claiming it had "shipped" and was no longer physically in the location. I expressed skepticism, given that less than half an hour had elapsed, and he said my only option was to return the item when it arrived.

On 12/**/15, I received [redacted] tracking information for my order. Via [redacted], my order was shown "Order Processed; Ready for [redacted]" at 6:44 PM EST, nearly six hours after my immediate request to cancel my order. Given the tracking information, I believe 42nd Street Photo thus lied about an inability to cancel my order and shipped contrary to my instructions.

On 12/**/15, I contacted 42nd Street Photo to initiate a return and spoke with "Dave," who informed me that my order would be subject to a 20% restocking fee (equating to over $400 on my order). Given the "bait-and-switch" scam predicated by deceptive advertising plus their refusal to cancel my order despite my immediate request, I requested a full refund up on return of the item. He said this would be "impossible."Desired Settlement: I have returned the item via FedEx, scheduled to arrive on 12/**/15, and upon receipt of my return, I demand that I receive a full refund of my purchase cost ($2,069.98, which amounts to my original purchase of $1748.99 + $320.99 bait-and-switch upsell).

Given that I have been the victim of a documented "bait-and-switch" scam via online advertising (multiple NYC Revdex.com requests charge similar allegations) and 42nd Street Photo refused to cancel my order despite an immediate request, a full refund is warranted and a reasonable request.

Sincerely,

Shopped for a Sony Camera for Christmas. Everything about 42nd Street Photo was first class. My Sony A6000 was the best price I could find and the accessories are still going strong. I will be back and if you asked me I would recommend them to any shopper.

Review: I purchased a Nikon d810 and a nikon 28-300mm lens over a weekend and selected priority shipping so the package would arrive the next week. After some thought, I determined the camera wouldn't arrive on time so I called 42nd Street the next Monday to hopefully adjust the shipping on the order before it shipped. I spoke with "Adam" who promptly began to up sell me. He explained to me that the camera had no warranty, which is a surprise to me because the website described the camera as brand new. Adam explained it is an import and that is why the price is so low. A classic bait and switch if I ever saw one in hindsight....the product description mentions nothing of an import. So anyway, we get talking and he did catch the fact that I ordered the wrong lens, I was grateful at the time. He sold me a very cheep lens filter set, but charged an arm and a leg, and also sold me these "Super" memory cards for a special price, which are not as good as he stated. So here's where things begin to get interesting. He quotes me a price of $4400..... I get the invoice with the package and the bill is for $4700!!!!! Not what we agreed on..... Being more excited about my new camera, I forgot about the billing detail for just a few minutes to allow myself to enjoy the moment. I opened the camera package to find the manual ripped and mangled. I opened the lens to find it was filled with mildew! Not a "new" lens as I was promised. Now I'm really disappointed....I call 42nd street photo as well as email them to explain my situation, I leave a message for Adam, and I explain in the email I feel that I shouldn't be responsible for a 20% restocking fee for the lens due to the fact that it was bad. After constant effort on my end, I finally get in touch with Adam, who promptly starts to chew me a new one, stating that he didn't need to work with me if I wanted to make all of these demands. He's obviously already on the defensive and ready for a fight....seems like his style in hindsight. Now, I have worked retail and I understand customer service. If I ever talked to a customer the way he talked to me, I would have been fired on the spot. So I played his game and got him talking like a salesman again and he apologized up down and sideways for the bad lens. I explained that the $4700 was a bit of a shock and I only intended to spend about $3000. This gets back to me trying to change the shipping, and Adam up selling me into a price I wasn't comfortable with. So, I explain that I would like to return the memory cards along with the lens.....he says I can't because I bought a "BUNDLE!!!!" I never agreed to a bundle and now I know I'm being had. He explains that my only option is to return everything and to pay a 20% restocking fee...I decline the offer, not wanting to pay over $800 for nothing. Adam explains that he can take the lens back due to it being bad, which also included the crummy lens filter, and 1 year warranty (which was extra). He talks with his "supervisor" and tells me that he can refund me $1000, bringing the total down to $3700. I wanted the camera for a trip, so I agreed. This is about $1500 more than I originally expected to spend.....the "super" memory cards were overpriced, they underperform, and this is the way they make their money. The rest went to purchasing the warranty that didn't come with the camera. The camera is listed at $2229.00 on 42nd Street Photo's web site....... I get my credit card statement which shows a charge for $4400 from 42nd Street Photo. I look down, and there's a separate charge for $300!!!!!!! I notified my credit card company that this transaction wasn't authorized and I'm still waiting to hear back on their effort to resolve my dispute. This warranty they sold me goes for $600....this means I have two memory cards that we sold to me at $800!!!!! I'm being scammed....... This one is for you Adam!Desired Settlement: I want the separate $300 charge to be refunded...contact American Express in regards to my claim.

I want to be billed for the camera body only due to the fact that they bait and switched me. This practice is illegal!!! it happened to others from what I have read online.....please refund me the difference of the "warranty" and the memory cards. "Brand New" Nikon cameras come with warranties...

Review: NOWHERE IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION OR ANYWHERE ON THEIR SITE DOES IT REMOTELY SUGGEST THAT THEY SELL GRAY MARKET EQUIPMENT. I recieved a gray market Canon lens that I am forbidden to have in my equipmenet inventory. The product I recieved is not as described. This is my major issue and complaint.

42street Photo Order #[redacted]. Canon 85mm L-series Lens ( $1699.99) & B+W UV Haze 72mm Filter ($99.99). I placed this order Dec ** and called on the [redacted] to verify that it would be shipped on time.

When I called "MIKE", tells me that the B+H filter I ordered was half plastic and not a high quality filter for the quality lens I was buying and that he would give me a higher filter kit upgrade at NO CHARGE because he was in the holiday spirit.

A few hours later I saw the charge come through ($179.00) and it was for a 3 filter KIT that I would never use in the studio and was charged twice what I remotely would EVER pay for a protective filter on a such an expensive lens- I was beyond surprised and thought, OH NO what have I done buying from these people.

I made an UNBOXING VIDEO because I had a very bad feeling about this purchase. The packaging and lack of CANON-USA Warranty card is the hallmark of GRAY MARKET Equipment. I am so disappointed.

I am a professional photographer and usually buy from B&H.

If I were on a budget I would buy gray market if that was what I was shopping for but the merchant would let that be known in the product description before hand; this is deceptive by omission. Gray market stuff is an important product feature.Desired Settlement: Because the order was misrepresented by omitting the GRAY MARKET DESCRIPTION and employing aggressive upselling practices for switching the order around- 42 street photo would do the honorable thing and issue a FULL refund and RMA for a prompt return of their GRAY MARKET merchandise.

I have not seen any response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] but I was able to recover my refund from a [redacted] complaint today. I truly regret dealing with this company.

Sincerely,

Review: I placed an order on Sunday, 10/**/15 for 2 items from 42nd Street Photo in New York: Nikon D3300 DSLR camera and a memory card to go with it (Sandisk 64 GB SDXC). The camera was listed for $389, the card for $94.99, total was $483.99. I have purchased from them before, and received quality goods and good customer service, including the return of a memory card they called to tell me I needed that didn’t work with the camera.

On Monday, much like the prior time I ordered from them, I received a call from the store telling me that the memory card I ordered “would not work with this camera.” As I am a beginner, I thought this may be true, so I agreed for them to change the card. They also suggested I get an extended warranty, which was “only $49,” so I did. As the new card was significantly more expensive ($289), my new total was $728.98. They threw in a complimentary camera bag.

Later Monday afternoon, after talking with friends who do photography, I found that the original card would have worked with the camera, so I called the store back to remove it from the order- I had to leave a voicemail. In a second call on Tuesday, they told me the package had already left. I said I was hoping to have them pull a memory card out of the order, but they said I would just have to return it.

The package arrived on Thursday, 10/**/15. When I opened the box I noted the camera was NOT in a manufacturer’s box, nor did it have a warranty card. It appeared to have been unpacked from its original box and fitted into the camera bag for shipping. The warranty card from Nikon was not present, though the owner’s manual was. This seemed odd, but the camera appeared to be fine and a genuine Nikon product.

After several messages and emails to arrange for the memory card return, I got a call yesterday 10/**/15 from a man who said he was the owner, saying they don’t do returns on memory cards. I told him the whole story and mentioned that I had previously returned a card, but he said there was “nothing he could do.” He said the best he could do was give me $100 credit back to my card. I begrudgingly took this, but then continued to do research on the company.

Now it appears that the camera I was sold is most likely “gray market” and does not carry the Nikon warranty (still awaiting confirmation on this from Nikon). Nowhere on the website is this made clear. The warranty card I purchased is not through Nikon. In the “[redacted]” section of the item description, it states, “[redacted].”Desired Settlement: The best case scenario for me would be a total return/refund of all merchandise. This way, I could return all the products and purchase them from a reputable, authorized US Nikon seller, with money to spare.

Sincerely,

Review: My husband purchased a camera from 42nd St Photo on July [redacted], 2015 online. Looking at the invoice, it stated we were charged $1,649.99 when the website states the camera is for sale at $1,499.00. We tried to call and have this issue resolved right away, however the person we spoke to, Jack, said it "was impossible" and that the billing invoice was correct.

We called again today, August [redacted], 2015, to once again try to resolve this issue, and to understand where this difference came from. I was told by the rep (who did not give his name) that I needed to contact a different department, which wasn't open at that time, that the invoice was correct, and that the pricing on the website was for "international buyers only", and was clearly stated on the website. I have looked over every word on this page, and there is NOTHING about international buyers only, or even special pricing due to location. When I pointed out on the phone to the customer service rep that it was not clear, and to try to understand where it was stated, he said "Ma'am, I am not going to argue with you" and hung up on me. I work in customer service for an online retailer, and this was not customer service. I have never been so rushed off the phone in my life, and had someone so rude and not even willing to work with me. All I want is the difference of the cost.Desired Settlement: I would just like the difference of $150.99 refunded to us.

Review: I purchased a camera, on-line- a Cannon Powershot G1X Mark II at the advertised price of $589. I was contacted by [redacted] at 42nd St ( ###-###-####) and advised that the unit I had purchased. Was intended for export- sold without warranty and incompatible with US electrical system. He agreed to selll the US appropriate model for $699. Since I was under a time constraint, I accepted the offer.

I received the camera which, after reviewing the manual, is capable of charging on any electrical system between 100v and 240v. Clearly a bait and switch. And then The enclosed bill shows a charge of $749.99 for the camera. I have 2 charges on my [redacted]Desired Settlement: I have 2 charges on my [redacted]: initial bill of $628.99 and an additional charge of $160.99. Sincerely,

Review: Yesterday, * April 2015, my wife, [redacted], was trying to purchase a Nikon D800 camera body online. She tried several websites but discovered the D800 camera's they were selling were "imports" from other countries. She saw a D800 camera on [redacted] for $1999 and tried to purchase the camera online. When checking out, she purchased a warranty for $299.99. [redacted] tried to use my [redacted] credit card to purchase the camera, which I wasn't expecting her to do, so when I received a fraud alert from [redacted], I stated that I had not authorized the charge. Upon learning that it was a purchase my wife had made, I contacted [redacted] last night and approved the transaction. They said the funds would be released for the sale, but we would need to contact the 42 St Photo. This morning, [redacted] from 42 St Photo called my wife to finalize the sale and claimed that she would need to purchase a specific memory card because the D800 would not operate with said memory card. My wife was suspicious because she had used a D800 camera before and did not have the memory card [redacted] had mentioned. [redacted] told [redacted] the price of the memory card was $199, to which she said she would have to check with her husband, me, first. After [redacted] tried to convince my wife to purchase the additional memory card by lowering the sales price, she eventually declined the additional purchase of the memory card due to her suspicion. During this process, [redacted] stated that he would go talk to his supervisor to see if he could lower the price. At this point, [redacted] said to my wife that the Nikon she was purchasing was Chinese and that all of the software manuals would be in Chinese. [redacted] said she did not want to continue with the sale because she did not want to purchase an imported camera. [redacted] then said that she could purchase an American version of the camera for $200-300 more than the imported camera, but it would not have a warranty. [redacted] then stated that she was not interested and that she did not want to continue with the sale. [redacted] mentioned that he could try to decrease the purchase price of the American version but would need to speak with his supervisor. [redacted] again stated that she did not want to continue with the sale and that the company was engaging in false advertising as the camera she had tried to purchase on the website was not listed as an imported camera. [redacted] then said we would have to pay a 3% fee of the sales price to cover the credit card processing fee. [redacted] then stated that she would like to speak to the supervisor, which [redacted] responded to by saying that he is the supervisor and does not have a supervisor. [redacted] then accused [redacted] of lying since he claimed to have a supervisor before and suddenly did not have a supervisor and he responded by saying "yes, that's the type of company we are". [redacted] then stated that he thought my wife was nice and so he would upgrade from the imported Nikon to an American Nikon for only $33. Since my wife did not think she could get out of the sales deal she stated "fine" and hung up. [redacted] then called me and relayed the incident to me. I immediately contacted [redacted] and was informed that the sales charge of the camera had been authorized and they were waiting for the company to post the charge. They stated I could not take any action until the charge was posted and I could then dispute the charge. I then called 42 St Photo and spoke to [redacted]. After some heated discussion with [redacted] and my insistence on disputing the claim through [redacted] and immediately contacting the Revdex.com if my card received any charge from the company, [redacted] eventually conceded and stated that the sale would be canceled and we would not be charged a restocking fee or credit card processing fee. I was content with this arrangement until I reviewed the consumer reports of 42 St Photo on the Revdex.com. I read several complaints of the company falsely advertising products online, intentionally lying by saying additional products were "required" in order for a product to operate correctly, and general harassing of women. I also now understand that the company is involved in the "grey market", selling imported products in America that they product manufacturer, Nikon in this case, would not service or provide a warranty for. I have no idea what action to take in this case. I cannot imagine the marketing or sales process of this company is not engaged in some type of illegality, but I have no idea who to report the potential crime to. Obviously, I absolutely do not want to be charged for anything from this unethical company and will be monitoring my [redacted] credit card to ensure no charge is posted to my account. However, I am most concerned that a company that would behave in such a manner currently has my home address, wife's cell phone number, my cell phone number, and my credit card information. If a company would behave in such a deceitful manner while trying to sell a product, I can only imagine what they would do with my personally identifiable information. Please contact me if there is anything that can be done against this company. Thank you. A receipt from the initial transaction yesterday was emailed to my wife's email account. The order number from 42 St Photo is [redacted].Desired Settlement: There will be no charge to my [redacted] credit card for any sum. The current authorized sum of $2298.99 will be immediately deleted.

Sincerely,

Review: I made a phone purchase for a USA warrantied Nikon D7100 at $1099. I also requested a Nikon lens which I was told was $499 for the USA model. I was also sold a battery for $175 and memory card for $499. He told me I had to have them to use the camera in video mode properly.

Over the course of the next few days I called numerous times because I was over billed $79 on the invoice and found the lens price was actually $399 on their website. I was given a $100 credit for the lens but no credit for the over bill. I was refused access to speak to a customer service person and rerouted to [redacted] each time I called. Customer service called later and I was able to discuss the fact the battery and memory cards were not actually needed to run video on this camera. I was offered a credit of $250 and an additional memory card. I said I would be happy with this if I receive the lens and camera I ordered, the USA backed models. I was assured my order was the USA warrantied camera and lens. When I received the order, I found there was no USA warranty card with the camera or lens. I called and was told I don't get a USA warranty if I buy their extended warranty. First, during my initial purchase, I did not even want the extended warranty. I said I wanted the USA warranty that comes with the camera and lens and at the end of the purchase he said he would "throw in the extended warranty for $49, so I would be covered when travelling". I called for an RMA to return the entire shipment because it is not the USA warrantied items I ordered and paid for but was told I would have to wait for a call from a supervisor. The general manager called and asked if he could send me return mailing labels for the lens and camera I got and send me the USA models now. I said no, I want to return it all for a full refund. He said fine, apologized, and would email me the RMA information. I have not received the refund nor received the RMA to return this shipment. I want to return these items and expect a full refund for the entire purchase amount.Desired Settlement: Send RMA mailing labels and accept return of ALL items for full refund. I have received $100 credit, so $2300 is due.

Comments on 42nd Street Photo

My experience with 42nd Street Phot was very positive. They shipped on time and I received the package with no damage and I had no problems with my credit card charges. I have only ordered once from them but will use them should I want to purchase other items and would recommend them to others.

Review: On Sept ** or ** (over the weekend), I ordered a Cannon 6D camera body from this company for total price of $1,579.99. I received a call on Mon, Sept ** asking me whether I wanted the Cannon components and a 1-year warranty which they said was not standard with the camera body. If I wanted the Cannon components, I had to pay approximately $200+ additional. This fact was not explicitly stated on the website, and I felt like this was a bait and switch. I immediately requested to cancel the order and not have them charge my credit card. The name of the person with whom I was speaking was [redacted], and he said the order was cancelled. On Sept **, the charge went through on my credit card. As of Sept **, on their web-site, it shows that I cancelled my order when I type in my order number. As of today (Sept **), I still have not received a credit. I have disputed the charge with Wells Fargo. There is no excuse not to have processed my refund on the credit card by now.Desired Settlement: I want my credit card credited as soon as possible.

Review: I believe I received gray market goods, at incorrect prices, and shipped goods not requested. Their 20% restocking fees prohibit asking for a refund of the unauthorized substitutions made, nor for the total cost of both shipments paid -$2,550 ($1,808 and $$650.00). This would amount to a restocking fee of over $500.00.

I do not want to be shipped more gray market goods as an exchange.

I would like original Canon and Tamron products to be shipped and a refund for the listed prices on the computer versus what was already paiidDesired Settlement: I have purchased (Invoice [redacted]) 1 Canon EOS 7D Mark II Camera, and ordered Tamron 16-300 Di II PZD Macro lens. Was shipped the specified Canon camera, but substituted for the Tamron lens was an SD card 1200x 16gb $449 (not 32 gb as listed on invoice), and 1 Lithium LP-E6 (20000Mah) rechargeable battery instead.

Called back and talked to Jack who said the prices listed are for foreign goods, not American (reason for substitution). No price differences for foreign or American listed on computer, and many of the computer reviews for 42nd St Photo said they use same phrase continually. I falsely believed the Canon 7D Mark II required this type of SD card, and let the substitution slide by.

Unfortunately, I ordered the Tamron lens again for $650. Jack called and recommended a Canon 70-300mm lens, which he said was the same price and would work the same way. I relied on his technical advice and Canon's reputation. Jack forgot to mention that neither were selling for $650.00, but listed as $539.00. The lens did not contain a warranty card, and no invoice either.

The camera and lens produced atrocious photos.

I called Canon, and they said the Canon 70-300 L lens was the current model and was the one that should produce the kind of results I expected. They also said that the 1200 high speed SD card was not required for this camera. Their technician suggested adjustments to the settings of the camera. Photos improved a great deal, but not at the quality I had expected.

I checked reviews online about 42nd St Photo and they said they are not an authorized Canon dealer, and they also said they sell gray market goods that do not include warranty cards. The Canon 70-300mm lens came with no invoice and no warranty card. It was not listed as $650.00 on the computer, but $539.00.

I believe they shipped gray market goods and did not adhere to prices listed on the computer. Their price for "foreign model, not American" seems to be a newer version of the bait and switch scam.

If I asked for a total refund, they would charge me a $500 restocking fee. If I asked for a replacement, they would send me more gray market Canon products.

I believe I ought to receive the Tamron 16-300 mm Di II VC PZD Macro lens that was originally ordered, with warranty card and a rebate form, if they are currently offering one. Hopefully, this would not again be gray market. The camera should also be replaced with a legitimate Canon 7D Mark II, with warranty card included as proof it is not gray market material. Legitimacy should also include invoices for the transaction.

If they are not able to comply, or use their customarily no-response technique, then some kind of criminal charges ought to be filed against them.

[Your Answer Here]

Jonathan from Marketing provided computer links for registering camera and lens with Canon. I used the links from my e-mail and registered both the camera and lens with Canon. However, in view of their many erroneous statements I think you need to check with Canon that gray market goods are not able to be registered, as Jonathan claimed. Then I think the authenticity of their being Canon products would be established. If I need to do that, please let me know. The pricing problem is another issue was addressed, only with their familiar "foreign vs American pricing", of which no such differentiation exists online for 42nd Photo goods. Prices have not even begun to be addressed. The problems with their sending substitute products, not needed, not required, and not authorized by me, has not ever been discussed. They just keep avoiding any attempt to be upfront, or resolve the issues, as most businesses would at least attempt to do. No, the issues are not resolved.Regards, [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[I have already talked to Jonathan D[redacted] once, who told me they were an authorized Canon dealer, and I should register my products online with Canon as proof they were not "gray market". He said registering for warranty was not possible if they were "grey market". He provided the links and I registered. Then I visited Canon's website which stated that if a company is not an authorized dealer, there is no warranty and support service would not be available. 42nd St Photo is not an authorized dealer for Canon, nor for Tamron. Tamron states the same as Canon regarding "grey market" goods. They are bot accredited by the Better Business of New York either. Jonathan called only that one time, and someone else called but left no name or number. These 2 are the only attempts to contact me. I have an answering service on which their name and number could be left to return the call. Again another inaccurate statement. Your Answer Here]

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered the Fujifilm X-E1 camera online through the website. When my order was being filled I was told me that I had missed something when filling out my order. The salesman then proceeded to tell me that the camera I had selected required a special memory card in order to "unlock all the features." He mentioned that the users manual specified this card that he was selling. The features that he mentioned were 1080p video recording and in order to use the fast frame rate for taking pictures. He also told me that they would double my memory for free with the purchase and that I couldn't find the card for a cheaper price anywhere. So, I took his "expert" advice and purchased the card thinking that I would research it and then cancel the order if required. I did some research and didn't find anything in any reviews about needing the memory card. I read the users manual and found a statement that says "Use a class 4 memory card or better when shooting HD movies." It says nothing about unlocking features or requiring anything more than a class 4 memory card. I also found the Fujifilm website for memory card compatibility [redacted] that specifies the class 4 card requirement as well. Note that the website also specifies that they used ScanDisk memory cards to check compatibility. Not even the same brand of card that I was sold. I also spoke with someone who owns this camera and they said they have never had any issues with pictures or video recording with anything greater than a class 4 card. Just to make sure I opened the camera they sent and I have had no features that weren't unlocked with a class 4 card. So, my conclusion is that I was lied to in order to sell this $249 class 10 card. Robert has since been unhelpful and demeaning in dealing with the return. They lived up to their promise of doubling the memory. I did some research on their claim that I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else as well. Turns out you can only buy this card on Amazon.com, Ebay.com, and their website. They were correct that you couldn't find it anywhere else for cheaper (other than individuals who were probably scammed as I was). However, they also didn't mention that Amazon and Ebay don't fulfill the card. 42photo.com provides fulfillment. So, of course you won't find a cheaper price. They are the only ones who sell the card. Wish I had done better research on memory cards before I purchased the camera...Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the card. The card cost $249. The salesman [redacted] (###-###-####) won't allow for the refund of card without returning the camera as well. I am willing to return both the card and the extended warranty if required. The purchase price of the camera alone was $849. A $249 refund for the card and warranty seems fair to me and would return the camera to the original purchase price.

Review: On September **, 2015 I placed an online order for a Fujifilm XT1 Camera at a price of $1399 USD.

In the website said that my order (#[redacted]) had shipped on the [redacted] of September. And on the [redacted] of September my credit card was charged with $1399 USD which I thought were correct charges. However, I received an email from Adam from 42 nd Street Photo on the [redacted] of October:

I replied asking what kind of information they needed from me, and told them I couldn't call because I was at sea. They did not reply. I called them yesterday * of Oct, they told me that the reason why they were contacting me was that I had bought the Asian version of the camera which has a chinese menu, but that they had the US version with an English menu and world wide warranty,, and they needed to know from me which version I wanted. I naively accepted the US version, but this sales man (Ralph) never told me I was going to be charged 300 dollars extra. I checked my credit card transactions where they were charging me 300 US dollars more plus 100 dollars for an extra battery which was the only thing I accepted to pay, in the website order the price of the camera went up to $1699 USD, which I was not informed about. I contacted my bank immediately and disputed the charges in my credit card. I called the online sales team but nobody answer. Then my call was forwarded to the retail store where the rudest man answered and yelled at me telling me that in their notes they had written that I had been informed about the charges, which is absolutely false! I told him I wanted to cancel my order, but he screamed that the order had already shipped. I told him that in their website did not say anything about Chinese or Asian versions of the camera and that was unacceptable, and he told me that they do that with all the customers. I called again today * of October, aiming to have an answer from the Online Sales Team, but the same sales man screamed at me telling me I deserved to be screamed at, in the most horrible way. I am in New York right now, so I asked if I could go to the shop to speak to someone and he told (screamed) me not to. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE SHIPPING DEPARTMENT WAS IN A DIFFERENT OFFICE AND I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD GIVE ME THE ADDRESS SO I COULD GO TO SPEAK TO THEM, AGAIN HE SCREAMED AT ME THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO GIVE ME THAT INFORMATION ON THE PHONE. I am tired of screams and insults from these people. I only want the charges to my credit card voided, and as I wrote before, I have already contacted my bank to dispute the charges and the investigation is in process. I have not received any package from them as of today.Desired Settlement: I WANT TO HAVE VOIDED THE CHARGES IN MY CREDIT CARD IMMEDIATELY.

Sincerely,

Review: I bought a camera from them for 869.00 online on January **. On January **, Michael emailed me, stating that I must contact him before he could send me my camera. On Monday 2/**, I was able to contact him from work (because they were closed over the weekend). He tried to high-pressure me into buying additional items. I said my husband would kill me if I spent anything, and reluctantly only agreed to one digital 32 gig 700x card that he said was $199 or $198. He tried to sell me another and I repeatedly said, no just one. He then said he would throw in an extra warrantee for me due to buying the one card as long as I gave them a good rating on Biz Net. I said I would. He said it would be to me quickly and wanted to know if I would be home to sign for it. I said no, I work. So, it was to be left on the porch but w/ tracking.

It was delivered Feb. **. I rushed home to find extra things shipped to me with extra charges. He added another 32 gig card and charged me another $300 on top or the 199. I e-mailed him immediately, because they were closed. He called me 20 minutes later and said it was a misunderstanding. I said I would send it all back. He said no, keep it. He said he just wanted a good review. He would not charge me the extra $300. I have asked for confirmation of this refund in writing -via e-mail, but he now will not respond. I filed a dispute with my discover card and was advised not to open any of my items, so I can send everything back just in case. I am not sure what his intentions were/are but he will not verify this refund. I have camera equipment I can't use, and I am stuck. I discussed this with discover and decided to file complaints w/consumer agencies.Desired Settlement: Promised refund -$300 for items sent to me and charged to me w/o my authorization.

I spoke w/ a coworker directly after the phone transaction and told her what the salesman sold me. She can verify that I told her one card and he was throwing in additional warranty. I even said to her that I was sure I could find more cards at a better price if I looked (on the internet-Delkin). That is why I only agreed to one.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as long as they follow through with the refund of unauthorized charges of $300.00 placed on my Discover Card. Review: I ordered a [redacted] 6d from an add online for 1150 witch was a few $100 less than most places thought I got a great deal. Got a email and it was clear they did not want to sell to me. Asked to call and the person on the phone was rude right from the start and it was clear that his job was to get me to cancel my order. First is he is like you know there will be a bunch of duty and taxes you will have to pay and than he said you know we will be sending you the European model with video that does not work in North America. Which it never stated anywhere on their website I as the employee why they would not state this and he gave me a answer saying it is [redacted] who will not let them say what model they are selling or the fact that the video would not work in North America a very obvious scam. He then proceeded to try and get me to buy a more expensive version though you could not even find it if you looked it up on there website it would not come up unless you punch in the specific item # meaning they do not really want people to find it and they are just trying to get people with a bait and switch. Rude and looking to scam people I thought 42nd Street photo was not one of these sites like so many others but it is very clear what they tried to do to me. Trying to tell me that they are not allowed to give out information that their customers would need to make a purchase is the worst like I am some sort of it.Desired Settlement: I would like them to honor their price and make up for their rudeness and change their store policies to help customers in the future, do not lie to me or to customers

Review: Purchased a Nikon Coolpix p610 camera with an extended warrenty in August,2015. After having for 2-3 weeks, camera was having focas issues in long range photography. Camera was sent in for repairs but when I received it back, the issues were still existent and had to resubmit the camera back second time. After second time and received back, it continued with same problems and had to send back the 3rd time. They received it on the Nov.[redacted] and I got it back on the [redacted] of Nov. which tells me they had no time to repair. When I received it back, problems were still with the camera and I suggested to replace the camera with a new one but they refuse to do so but instead insist that I send it back again for the 4th time!
