AAMCO Transmission & Total Car Care Reviews (128)

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
on each return to aamco I insisted that the problem with the transmission existed, it was not until June 2016 that the same problem was acknowledged by the business. I was given an excuse each time and the other problems listed including exhaust and problem codes were none of their concern, they were not why I brought the truck in to them. The fee that was "waived" is irrelevant because it was warranty work that would have cost me nothing if they fixed the problem the first time I brought it in. The fact that the transmission problem existed in 2014, two months after the initial repair, but was not fixed until two years later is negligent on the part of the business. They refused to provide warranty work for two years. Furthermore, I had another yearly checkup in April of 2016 which was not documented in their system. Fluids were checked at that time. Sincerely,[redacted]

This has been forwarded to Aamco corporate office for review.

Customer was not charged a diagnostic fee.  After initial work was completed (spark plugs) we informed the customer that the vehicle needed additional services.  Customer refused to leave the vehicle for further inspection.  Customer declined repairs.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
To whom it may concern,
I brought my vehicle in with one misfire, after I received the vehicle back the first time, manager tells me they put a bad coil back into my car. Vehicle finally leaves with 5+ misfire codes after vehicle was towed back for the last time. Vehicle is in worse condition than when it was initially brought in. Vehicle has DAMAGE to front and back bumper (manager, Alex, took photos and documented that before we had the vehicle towed back for the final time) and there was an absurd amount of rat feces inside the vehicle upon inspection of vehicle after being brought back. Vehicle also does not start now even with a jump. vehicle is now in worse condition than when brought in, meaning property value has gone down, as well as property damage from AAMCOs premises. I have photos of the car before I brought it in and photos of after AAMCO got through with it. If I cannot resolve this here I am prepared to file for small claims court and to have the justice I deserve.
Sincerely,[redacted]

I purchased this business in November 2013 so I am not privy to these conversations.  I will however inspect the vehicle at not charge if the customer would like.

Dear [redacted] -

We apologize for your experience with our store. During our investigation, we were unable to identify the exact series of events that occurred. The gentleman you dealt with no longer works for us, and we only have very basic notes in our system. We were also unable to...

determine the exact issue with your vehicle since you had it fixed by another mechanic. In good faith, we are going to reimburse you the $103.97.

Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: There is NOT a misunderstanding about whether the rental car was covered. I actually came back in and gave Steve the receipt and asked how I would get reimbursed and he said they would send a check. You can say what you want about the release...

form but when my lawyer read it he said it was so general that I was waiving all rights. Sincerely,[redacted]

customer is completely fabricating this story.  customer asked to take his vehicle elswehere after we started the work.  we did not charge him anything.  customer is not logical.   no more responses are required.

Thank you for the follow up. Mr. [redacted] chose to have someone else disassemble the transmission we built which means there is not way we could correct any problems he claimed still existed. This also erased any track record of what we did to his transmission. By doing so he voided any warranty we had provided. My attorney's contact info is below. Mr. [redacted] can feel free to contact him at his earliest convenience.[redacted], Attorney at Law - ###-###-#### Thank youAamco Transmissions and Total Car Care

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The vehicle did not leave the shop repaired either time I picked it up.  The last of the two times it was picked up and still not repaired properly They referred me to the shop where it was fixed properly.  This shop can attest to the fact that the toggo switch should of never been a fix to the problem.  It was taken out by the mechanic that knew what the problem was.  As far as any aurthorizations given by me a wiring harness was never mentioned. All communication and authorizations were to fix the problem.  Never did they fix it.  I do hold an invoice for what was the fix by a shop that told me he had to undo the screw up by the AAMCO mechanics who were not able to diagnose or fix the ONLY problem.

I am not satisfied with the statements by AAMCO nor are they true.

Regards,[redacted]

If the customer feels that we were disrespectful I apologize.  While we may have disagreements we try our best to be cordial and professional.

When the customer returned July 17, 2014 the vehicle had different codes and different problems than when it left earlier that week.  Therefore the original repair was successful.

When the customer originally picked up the vehicle he agreed to take his vehicle to another shop for further diagnostics.  When he agreed to this I accepted his lack of full payment as consideration for him having other issues unrelated to the work we did and he agreed to the terms.  Additionally because the vehicle has been worked on elsewhere and changes have been made to what we had done there is no way to know what was changed and if the work we did originally was faulty.

[redacted]The second issue was different than the first.  If the customer disagrees to this and would like to pay the balance in full and have us to re-as the vehicle we would be more than happy to assist.  Because there is an outstanding balance of $381.88 and per our agreement, the customer has not paid the invoice balance in full therefore there is no warranty on the work performed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The first time I brought my 2004 Jeep Wrangler to the AAMCO in Phoenix (on [redacted]) was March 27,2015. They did not fix the transmission problems and since then I have had to bring it back four times. They said they had identified the problem and could fix it. I paid them $2,300 to repair the Jeeps transmission. When the car was brought in for the first t ime, it had one or two codes that they told me were related to the transmission. After the last time they attempted to fix it, they informed me that it now has 4 engine codes along with the two remaining transmission codes. I contacted someone at the corporate office named [redacted]. He told me that he was going to follow up with contacting the shop and resolve the issue. I still have not heard from him. It has been a week since I dropped off the car for the fourth time. We have been forced to rent a car. If AAMCO cannot solve this issue (that I have paid for) I demand you fix it or find a shop/dealership that is capable of doing so.I have already consulted my attorney about this issue. I recommended by family to use AAMCO and wanted to give you the option to make this situation right. If not, I will pursue legal action, write reviews online, report you to the Revdex.com and contact the local news stations.Regards,[redacted]

The customer was advised of multiple electrical issues with his vehicle as well a numerous other issues prior to us starting any work.  We instructed the customer prior to working on his car that because there were many issues it would take us a lot of time (several billable hours) to figure...

out what he wanted, which was for his headlights to work.  Short of having the customer buy a new wiring harness for the vehicle (which was more expensive) we told him the repair would be costly.  He authorized the work.  We installed a toggle switch for the headlights and corrected several other electrical issues per the customer's authorization.

The vehicle left the shop functioning correctly for the repairs we completed.

The customer came back with different codes and issues at a different time.  We spent hours inspecting the vehicle at no charge and told the customer that at this time he needs to go to an electrical shop to solve the remaining problems.

It is unfortunate that the customer needed financing but it was his choice to agree for us to do the work and to sign the finance contracts.

Customer came to us with transmission parts in his hand. Customer knew that the transmission had a mechanical failure prior to us working on it. The vehicle had multiple check engine light codes and the customer was informed that he may have an electrical problem that was to be diagnosed after the...

transmission repair. Customer authorized transmission repair. After trans repair was completed the vehicle was not shifting properly. We removed the transmission and changed internal components allowing us to rule out and mechanical issues.  Conclusion:  the vehicle has electrical and/or computer issues. This was notated on the paperwork and the customer was told to go to the dealer or computer specialist to resolve.  Unfortunately the customer chose to have our transmission removed from of the vehicle and disassembled. This has voided any warranties we provided.

The company has not paid for a rental. If I have to come out of $250 or more that is not paying for a rental. For all the time they have lied about dates and times my car would be fixed as the customer I should not have to do anything. They mention $700 for a part that I was told was only $450 before shows how the company lies to cover themselves. That part has nothing to do with the fact I picked up my car and it was not repaired correctly to begin with! Not at one time did I feel they cared about my issue. They have not done anything besides offer a rental for the extended days my car has been sitting around their shop. I should be able to have a refund for all the time it has taken them to take care of this. I do not repair cars that is why I took my car to them. There is no way they can justify my car being at their shop for 21 days! Not my fault that they did not repair it correctly to begin with. The company is treating me that way. I know customer service and that is not it. So they need to stop bringing up they are repairing a part they should have repaired to begin with. They should have done more than offer to pay for a rental after I have to put down more of my money to get the rental. That does not justify the owner being rude and disrespectful. They have all of their money and I have nothing but lies and promises my car was going to be fixed weeks ago. I will continue until something is really done for my suffering and inconvenience. This is beyond taking advantage. After you fix a car and it is not repaired properly you should be able to get your money back since you did not complete the job correctly to begin with. Then you give the company a chance to fix it and they are rude like you are the reason you car was not fixed correctly is not right. So please do not act like it is!
