Assurance Van Lines Reviews (417)

I received a "high pressure sell" about the integrity of this business. I went to great expense to be available at the move site during the two day pick up window. I received a call two hours before the end of the window that the van was full because the prior pick-up had more items than originally disclosed. How does that become my problem? My experience as awful from start to finish.

Hey guys, [redacted] from the Orlando to Missouri move. I just wanted to leave you a positive note for taking care of my move. I know it's money that came out of my pocket and good labor and good work is naturally what ought to be expected, but my move was very straight forward without any problems, misunderstandings and complications. I really appreciate your hard work.
Best,
[redacted]
Move #[redacted]

Mike, thanks so much for clearing things up this morning. I didn't really understand the extra fees the movers were charging me until you explained to me. The movers on pick up and delivery did a great in getting things in and out of the house without any damages to property or my things. Please send my regards and thanks to everyone involved on this move.

6. Moving Express & Storage Inc mover arrived and were totally un professional. They tossed the boxes on the truck and after my wife explained the boxes were fragile. The furniture was thrown on the truck and were I consider professional movers. The 2 people did not load the truck properly. Boxes were marked fragile and the movers tossed them on the truck and they were all on the bottom. The movers did not give a [redacted] about our property. The furniture was not properly packed. The legs were exposed, the glass was not protected, boxes were lost.
7. The boxes were stored by Moving Express & Storage Inc until the move date off July [redacted]
8. On July [redacted] the mover arrived and began un loading the furniture and I was told by a member of Moving Express & Storage Inc that the mover, which is employed by the company Moving Express & Storage Inc, that is moves in a hurry and is very carless.
9. The incoming mover informed that he needed an additional $180 for the 3 flights of stairs.
10. When Moving Express & Storage Inc started taking the boxes of the truck we noticed the boxes has water damage. This was caused by Moving Express & Storage Inc when they were in storage. Another example of the give a [redacted] attitude
11. The movers then asked me where to put the boxes and I told them to put them in the spare bedroom. Once again they tossed and piled the boxes any which was way, not looking to see fragile or any indication of how the boxes were to be handled. Another example of the give a [redacted] attitude.

Anthem Claim Management informed us.
16. On November [redacted] we received a letter informing us that we would be receiving $42 dollars worth of credit.
17. On November 28 we contacted Anthem Claim Management we were told that the moving company was only liable for what they packed. So why did they not notify us of this would not have cost $50 worth of useless pictures of the damage. Another example of the no give a [redacted] attitude.
In closing
The 3 companies have a no give a ship attitude and I highly recommend all people
that need to move stay away from :

Review for move [redacted] from NYC to Chicago.
Assurance was my moving broker for this move and overall rendered a positive experience being that this seems to be a crazy industry. Rachel, Daniel, Rob and Mike are the 4 individuals who answered my calls and were prompt and professional in getting answers for me even when I got frustrated.
I misunderstood that movers were in charge of packing up the boxes, but realized they come at an extra cost. There was nothing I could do other than get a neighbor the help me pack half, and pay the movers to do the other half of the boxes.
My original quoted price was $2985, final price came to $3200 after paying for the boxing service. These guys were very fast, professional and knew what they were doing. I asked them to put extra protection on my all mu furniture and they did it.
All my items arrived safely and I'm very happy with the delivered service.

Although getting a moving time scheduled to work around my work schedule was very hard, Assurance Van Lines did a great job at everything else. Very professional, responsive to my concerns and worked to accommodate me on a tight moving time-frame and a difficult situation. I really owe them a positive review.
With an ill mother to look after and a full time job, I really didn't have time to deal with the stress and headaches of moving, specially of doing a "BIG Move", from Orlando to DC. After speaking with a couple of moving brokers and moving companies, none of them seemed to care or understand that I actually take care for my sick mother and work full time and I needed to have EVERYTHING (other than my/my mothers clothing and documents) disassembled, packed, picked up, moved and restore at my new apartment.
Mike went over everything with me and although the packing added an extra $400 to the bill, he was kind enough to give me a discount of $200 which made my move quote come to $3280 for a full 2 bedroom move.
While I was at home, the guys they sent me were very clean, fast, they disassembled my tables, mirrors and armories and packed everything very professional. I can say I'm very happy they delivered all my items without any damages.
If it wasn't for them I don't think I would have done the move.
Thank you

Although the moving was not 100% perfect, it was close to it. Assurance quoted me for $1750 for a large 1 bedroom move from Virginia Beach to South Florida, but when the movers showed up they told me it would be $2000 since my armoire piece was considered a large furniture piece and it required extra square footage.
I didn't take it personal since the rep at Assurance Van Lines had asked me for specific measurements and I had given them off the cuff estimates. So it's not their fault.
Aside from this misunderstanding, the moving went well. Some minor scratches on my kitchen table but with this was an Ikea table, so I wasn't hard about it.

I hired this company to move out furniture from Columbus, Ohio to Georgia. They subcontracted to [redacted].
I would not use them again nor will I recommend them. I received the delivery 14 calendar later than our scheduled delivery date, charged me 20% more than original amount, driver didn’t know to drive and park 53’ truck - ended up damaging landscaping, received the delivery with damage/broke the sofa frame and tower fan, very hard to communicate with driver and crew members as they only knew few English words.
The sales person and manager were very nice until I signed the contract but experienced RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior from both John and Kassandra during the post pick-up process. They DO NOT qualify as a A+ rating by Revdex.com as they been advertising to consumer.
Our contract number is [redacted].

I used assurance to relocate my small office from FL to NYC. They took 30 cubicles, 12 desks and 45 chairs, 25 computers with monitors, and it all arrived safely at our new office. I wanted to save on our move and hiring an office relocated was way out of our budget. Thankfully everything with AVL went well. Thanks guys.

I have to tell you how very disappointed I am and how much of a bind they put me in. After speaking with someone to schedule my move, I called on the Thursday prior and the lady at customer service told me that the dispatcher would call me either Friday or Saturday between 3-6 pm to schedule my pickup for the following day, I even asked her for the dispatchers number so that I could call them in the event I didn't hear from them by Saturday evening. She assured me that I had nothing to worry about and didn't have a number to give me but said someone would call...Well no one called and by 6pm on Saturday they were closed and they were closed on Sunday. So I called the following Monday morning and spoke with Vanessa, I tried to explain to her that I have a flight to leave that next morning and I need to pay someone to get these boxes and experienced the worse customer service I've ever dealt with by someone in this business...First of all she didn't even take the time to acknowledge that the ball was dropped, just putting me on hold and then coming back to tell me that she canceled my order and will get a refund doesn't suffice. I was supposed to be worry free with choosing these guys to move me. I told them my time was short and that I had to catch a flight out two days after my scheduled pickup and was supposed to be starting my new job on that Wednesday, and because I gave them all I had for moving my stuff I had to wait to get my refund from them to get my boxes sent, and if I couldn't find someone who would be willing to go through the hassle of holding all my stuff until I get my refund from them, then sending it to me, I had to cancel my flight and then call my job to tell them I need 3-5 business days on my first [redacted] week! And the best "Vanessa" could do was not show any compassion for their mistake, she didn't even say hey I'm sorry can I call you back and try to see if I can get someone out there for you today? No, her attitude after I even asked nicely to speak to someone else was so rudely tell me no it's 9 in the morning and she in charge and there ain't nothing else to do to change the fact that you have to wait 3-5 business days??? I HAVE A WIFE AND KIDS THAT I WORKED MY A$$ OFF FOR THE PAST 16 YEARS TO GET THIS POSITION THAT I WAS OFFERED AND WAS IN DANGER OF LOSING IF I DIDNT UNFIX THEIR COMPANIES MISTAKE, if you screw someone in customer service aren't you supposed to at least apologize? Like that's customer service 101.

I used asurance van lines - move: [redacted] for my relocation from east to west coast. The price quoted to me was $8400, after it was all said and done it came up to $9000. ALL of our belongings arrived in good conditions, boxes has a few dings here and there and they resolved to make it work for us. Great job guys.

I am absolutely blown away by the services Assurance van lines gave me. The movers packed and loaded all our belongings in just two hours; the same job would have taken us a month at least! They were so efficient and always attentive. Never did they lose focus on the job and damaged anything. I was quite impressed by the professionalism displayed by these guys. All my valuables were delivered on time and all the pieces survived the journey superbly. I strongly recommend them

Relocating to the midwest from NYC wasn't an easy move for me. I'm a single father, working on a tight budget and without my own transportation, I needed to find an affordable way to send all my things to our new place. We called a few movers and got a call back from about 10 different movers, all which promised better rates and better rating but seem to be dying for my business. Assurance was very patient with my requests, got me a REALLY good price for my move, and now, all my things have arrived at our new apartment. Great job you guys, you're life savers.

I had a great experience getting my move done with assurance van lines. Compared to the rest, I was given a bargain price. Jason & Jeff took care of booking my movers and Mark called me 3 days before the move to go over inventory and explain how to be ready for movers.

Customer: [redacted] ID: [redacted] The customer was picked up on time and paid half of the balance. The rest of the remaining balance is due when the household goods gets...

delivered. The delivery date that the customer chose was December **, 2015. The customer contacted the carrrier stating that they won’t have all of the money when the move is delivered. The carrier stated that if they don’t pay the full amount the move cannot be unloaded and they must pay storage fee and redelivery fee. The contract states: “All final balance due’s are to be paid in money order or cash to the carrier prior to the truck being unloaded. If customer fails or refuses to pay balance due, carrier holds the right to warehouse or storage the household goods at shipper’s expense. For re-delivery of the warehoused or stored household goods, the balance due must be paid in full, including storage and re-delivery fees, prior to the truck loading goods from warehouse or storage and sent out for delivery.”

Thank you for doing such a wonderful job with my move from DC to Upstate NY. I had Ilona help me out book the movers and Brandon make some extra last minute arrangements for me, and everything worked out as planned. The movers were very professional and even helped me finish closing my boxes. My job number was [redacted].
Cheers,

My experience with Assurance Van Lines was very positive. These guys went the extra mile to earn my business and aside from getting my family a good price for our relocation, they made sure our movers were sensitive to my ill mother while they were tanking things out of our old place. Our move arrived in perfect condition and on the same date they gave us. We basically saved about $1200 by going with Assurance. Thank you.

These moving brokers took care of my relocation and I would not be any more please than I am with everything that went through our move.
I spoke to John who walked me through STEP BY STEP in making sure we had everything that was going to be moved, he in fact called me the day after to make sure it was all there. When movers arrived they wanted to give me a higher price, and John spoke to them their manager to make sure price stayed at quoted.
After move was complete I got a follow up with Mark to make sure everything was completed as agreed. Although a couple of boxes got bent, everything arrived in solid condition.
