[redacted] | Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM PST

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

ATS did issue me a provisional credit but it was reversed because ATS disputed it, as seen in the attached screen capture of my bank statement.

They can certainly confirm on their end since it happened 8 days ago.

They claim that they believe my case yet they've fought me every step of the way!  Why else would they dispute it with my bank?

Even now they say the tolls fit within my mileage, sure they do but only if you discount all of the actual driving I did!  It's

preposterous to think that I only drove to-and-from the tolls directly with little in between or take into consideration where I

was staying in relation to all of the tolls.   I was in NY for 10 days, do they think I only drove to the same tolls over-and-over

and went nowhere else?  I have receipts & pictures from all of my destinations that are nowhere near the tolls near the alleged times!

There's a reason ATS has well over 200 Revdex.com complaints!  Had I not contacted the Revdex.com I would never get a single response from them!

I've contacted them at least 3 times by phone and email and nobody has ever replied.

I'd like an immediate refund of the $155.91 and no more excuses or accusations that I went through these tolls when there is absolutely

no evidence of such beyond some transponder that was certainly not in my rental car at the time.

Dear

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concern as it is our goal to provide you with excellent customer service.
This Revdex.com appears to be for an international rental which we are not a business partner with and so we are not able to research your complaint. Please contact [redacted] directly using the link provided below.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I appreciate Platepass offering a refund for most of the daily service fees while I was in possession of the rental vehicle.  Given the fact that I am a Fastrak customer, it seems that Platepass has no right to any revenue based on my rental.  I was never offered the option to bring my own transponder into the vehicle.

That being said, my complaint is less about the $20, and more about what I felt were unethical business practices.  The details of the Platepass contract were buried in page 3 of my rental agreement, and the Hertz agent failed to direct my attention to this information.  If an investigation into Platepass revenue were to occur, I'm willing to bet that the portion associated with the Platepass usage fees are at least triple the portion associated with actual toll costs.  Of course, I have no way of finding out the truth here unless the Revdex.com intervenes or Platepass offers up confidential information.  In the meantime, I maintain that Platepass has created a business that preys on people who are either misinformed or uneducated, and this is wrong.  Platepass and Hertz get rich $20 at a time, while regular consumers get screwed.

Regards,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.ATS voluntarily did not handle this alleged violation in a timely or professional fashion, therefore violating my right to due process.  By law the issuing authority has to send a notice of violation to an alleged offender within 15 days.  Why would it be ok for ATS to take almost 5 months to contact me?  This is a shady unethical practice that takes away my right to face my accuser and contest this ticket in a court of law.  I should have equal protection under the law as anyone else who receives a violation whether it be by photo enforcement or by a human officer.  The photo provided does not reveal a violation and ATS is not a legal authority to determine guilt.  They are a private for-profit organization who's job is to generate revenue for their client.  As I stated before, an officer from the [redacted] stated that they 1st contacted [redacted] back on November 24, 2014; in which that documentation was stamped December 10th by [redacted].  I also have documentation from the Superior Court which shows that they were contacted a 2nd time, January 27th.  This was 2 months later, giving them yet another opportunity to reach out to me or simply transfer liability.  The officer also stated that they DO ALLOW the transfer of liability and the only way that it wouldn't have been done is if the rental company decided not to.  I have the copy of the blank affidavit that was sent to [redacted] to allow them to transfer responsibility to me.  When I asked them to advise why it took so long to contact me they opened a claim to "research" it, never got back to me, and decided to take the money from my bank account without any authorization.  It appears in most of these Revdex.com complaints that this is a regular practice for them.  Also, my rental agreement terms does not say that they have free reign to take whatever they want from my credit card that I entrusted them with as a loyal customer.  Nor does it say that I forfeit any of my rights.  I rent from or used to rent from Dollar/[redacted] exclusively for my personal rentals for years and just started using them for my clients in my profession in Television Production.  I will absolutely never use Dollar again and I will make sure that I spread the word about this to all of my colleagues and everyone I know.  No one would appreciate this type of treatment. Attached is a similar Revdex.com case which proves as an example of how this is a regular business practice for them.  I also attached sections from their web site where they promise to provide excellent customer service, timely processing, and the transferring of liability to the renter so that we may retain our right to due process.  The last attachment "No Presumption of Guilt", which in their words, states that a camera ticket is not a presumption of guilt, it is a summons to be able to go to court.  Its clear that I was not treated fairly and do not owe this citation.

Regards,

Dear David L*,

We apologize for any frustration or confusion this situation may have caused. This notice pertains to tolls reported to your August 2016 rental and not the referenced violation number [redacted]. Therefore we have adjusted your account in full for the amount billed of $47.97.

Modern day street robbing at its best here. Company stays barely legal with shady practices favoring them heavily. ATS seems to collude with cities in public scam and leaves us with the charges. Tried to rip me off and still waiting on refund.

Got a notice about a parking ticket in Texas from two months earlier using a valid rental car agreement in Colorado for those dates. Started to pay for it assuming that it must be my fault as I did remember renting at that time but happened to notice the city name and went back to check records realizing this ticket is for a different city in a completely different state.

Rental car company customer service washed their hands off saying they offloaded all that to ATS and clerk at the city court said the burden is on me to prove and not to them as they will only accept updates from ATS. Apparently rental agreement showing them wrong was far too sensible and undermines the convenience of their scam.

Left me no option other than to be under the mercy of ATS or pay up or be in default.

They said I need to provide proof of being in another state at time of violation using a proof of purchase or hotel, etc - this is even though rental agreement showed it clearly as being a thousand miles away. Finally after asking agent to stop harassing me the guy had me on hold without for 15min saying he is opening a case but didn't need any input after that hold other than to say I will hear back.

Next day an email comes saying case is closed with charges or refund take care of. Credit card used for the rental suddenly showed they actually charged and I was surprised that Hertz kept the credit card on file two months after rental and also passed it to ATS with no authorization from me.

Called back ATS again and they said initially it will be refunded later then agent accepted saying will have to see what was charged as they didn't even bother to check the details on the notice. After another long hold another agent claimed it is not showing in their systems despite their website showed that the charge was settled. Said no proof is provided when I asked but they can request email confirming the invalid charge and process refund both of which will take up to 5 business days.

At their incompetent mercy now to see if my hours of stress and time spent to fix their mistake will continue to cost or if I will get the refund next week. Will take it up with credit card company and come back to Revdex.com to dispute if they don't fix it by next week.

Its been over one week since I returned a car that used PlatePass. When I enter my information at the PlatePass website I am told it cannot find my rental record, and suggests I may have entered the information incorrectly. In reality it seems that PlatePass takes a very long time to post charges, sometimes months. However, there is no information on their website about the length of time customers should expect to wait before being billed. In addition, I cannot reach them by telephone, and they have not answered an email message I sent in many days ago. You know that have been charged with overcharging in a Class Action Lawsuit. This company should not be rated A by the Revdex.com.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Why am I being treated like a criminal? Produce evidence including receipts that I wasn't in the area. It's none of their business to have access to my receipts or my whereabouts. They know that they are scam artists preying on 1st-time travelers. I went through the toll and paid it with cash. So my $1 toll which I paid in cash gets hit with a ridiculous $20 surcharge. I will continue fighting this until this con-artist company has spent at least $20 in worktime and adminstrative costs.

As such I do declare that I will require the video footage showing the car going through said toll machine without paying cash. I will NOT be treated like a criminal. Please see Article I of the US Constitution which overrules page 3 of micetype in the Hertz contract.

I certainly hope that Revdex.com takes a look at the number of complaints this company generates and does the right thing and downgrades the rating. Otherwise, I will have lost all faith in the supposed Revdex.com-process.

Regards,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The company's response says that they cannot find my case.  I sent the contract information to the company and to the Revdex.com.  There is no reason why they should not be able to find my complaint.  I recently received another email regarding this claim, but they now state that the violation was in [redacted] and the original  claim  was [redacted].............neither one is correct.  i am  demanding the car's tracking information to prove that this is a false claim.  I have also contacted the State Attorney General to open an investigation to explore other possible false charges made to renters.

Regards,

I have been charged for this companies product even though I have never used it. If a [redacted] rental car has the device in it, I keep the box closed and place it in the glove box or center console storage unit for the duration of the rental but they still charged my credit card whose information they got from [redacted] which I did not authorize. Now I take the device out of the car when I see one in it and give it to the [redacted] representative on the counter. This is a deceitful practice that required me to put aside four hours of my day to contact the credit card company, [redacted], ATS website Platepass.com, etc. I blame [redacted] equally for having a partnership with this company. I am also disappointed that with the number of complaints against them that Revdex.com is rating them with an A. It took me four months (getting charged each month) before I had the time to deal with this annoying occurrence. Just because they resolve satisfactorily, does not mean they get an A. This is the oldest trick around, charge hundreds of thousands of customers $12, $23, etc. and then apologize and refund the few that take the time to research, document and request a refund. This practice should be outlawed in the United States and companies like ATS shut down with all profits confiscated as illegal gains.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I had filed a complaint with Revdex.com against ATS several months back for unauthorized charges that were not made by me but charged to me. It has happened again recently and after I filed a complaint I was told that it cannot be done and was instructed to contact you in order to discuss possibly reopening the previous case.Regards,[redacted]

I rented a hertz car in July in Colorado. I was never told I would incur toll charges or service fees from the rental company for toll roads. Not one toll plaza I passed was occupied or open to allow for payment. I am from the southeast and have never heard of plate pass. I just received a bill 2 months later with toll charges and service charges for which I was never made aware. The rental agreement does not give any quote for plate pass fees. I would have declined plate pass and payed the tolls had I even been aware of such a thing. This is a complete SCAM and should be stopped. How the company can be rated an A by the Revdex.com with over 500 complaints is beyond me.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

It's just unfortunate that I had to spend several hours on the phone with ATS, my bank + emails to ATS and Revdex.com to resolve this which should've been done far more quickly and the initial dispute investigation should have been more transparent (what was reviewed?  What were the findings? etc...).

Regards,

To the Revdex.com,

I have read the backhanded response to my Revdex.com complaint (ID [redacted]), and find it satisfactory....enough.  This all pends on the refund actually happening.I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint partially resolved.however the Revdex.com did not respond as to why a company with a 96% negative rating percentage has a Revdex.com grade of A+?

Regards,

Plate pass continues to be such a frustrating service. This is not the first time I have often charged without using it. I travel for work often and I have asked Hertz to not include it in my rental since it has been problematic. I use my corporate paid NJEZPass for all of my tolls and take plate pass off the window, close the box and put it in the glove compartment. I am not sure what else I can do. Without fail it gets read by a toll booth and I end up with an extraordinary charge since they tack on all of these fees.

Then you have to call which takes on average 20 plus minutes of getting explanations etc. next they make you pdf a copy of your EZpass transactions. Next you must wait 5-10 days for resolution. Even then they only reduce the charges. They do not remove them completely.

It just seems to be a racquet and partially a scam since you cannot avoid having it in the car with you. I should have the choice to remove it. And if I can prove that I was using my own EZpass the total charge needs to be removed minus the toll. I am fine with paying that. It is fair. It's just a huge headache. I see that the reviews online and here at the Revdex.com reflect my frustration. I am also questioning the Revdex.com for giving them an A+ rating?!?! I faked the woman at plate pass and she said it was for resolving the issues thoroughly. They need to not create the issue to begin with.

Dear [redacted],

face="Calibri">Thank you for taking the time to contact us in regard to rental agreement [redacted]4.

We apologize for any frustration this situation has caused. We do understand that you used your EZ Pass during this rental. This toll was reported via the license plate from the Maine Turnpike Authority at the South Portland downtown tolling location. In the event that the tolling location does not register the transponder signal an image of the plate is taken. As the plate is registered with PlatePass®, no violations were incurred. In a personal vehicle the toll authority would have identified your plate pass account to your vehicle. As this was a rental vehicle registered with PlatePass, our vehicle was charged for the toll.

Our normal process in this circumstance is to request a copy of the renter’s toll tag statement to identify duplicate charges. As many renters do utilize personal toll tags within a rental, our policy is to adjust our administrative fees if there is at least one toll identified on their statement during the rental. During that review we would also make adjustments for any tolls that were duplicated.

As we value you as a [redacted]z renter, we have adjusted the administrative fee in full as a courtesy. If you wish to submit your EZ Pass statement, we will be happy to review for a duplicate toll. Please allow up to 5 days for processing.

It is our hope that you find this matter to be resolved.

Thank you,

Dear [redacted],

Thank you...

for taking the time to contact us in regard to rental agreement [redacted].
We sincerely apologize for any frustration this situation has caused.

In regard to your case, the Virginia Department of Transportation reported a toll to the license plate associated with your rental at the Downtown Tunnel location. This is how the PlatePass® service was activated.

Our records indicate that we initially spoke with you on 10/25/2016 and a case was opened to review the account. Later that day we also received communication from the rental location that the account should be adjusted. The adjustment was completed and the account is currently at a zero balance.

However, upon further review we identified a dispute was processed with your financial institution on 10/3/2016. When the dispute was processed, your financial institution reversed the charge posted by PlatePass® on 8/27/2016 and credited your account in the amount of $26.00. We are required to provide your financial institution a minimum of 45 days to review your dispute.

If your financial institution has sent you communication advising the credit has been removed from your account, please forward a copy of that communication to us. This documentation will allow us to bypass the 45 day waiting period, update the account accordingly and fully issue the refund of $26.00.

* When e-mailing your documentation, please be aware that we are unable to accept hyperlinks, TXT files, or XLS files.
* Please either remove or obscure personal information, such as social security number, full credit card number, full date of birth, or driver's license number in your response.

We have also flagged the account so you will receive no further charges. We appreciate your patience during this process.

Thank you,

ATS Processing Services, LLC sent me an invoice for $33.65 which they claimed were for 2 unpaid tolls, one in Massachusetts and another on in New Hampshire. The unpaid tolls, while driving a rental car from Dollar Car Rental, were $2.65 and $1 respectively. The Administration fee $30.

I never drove through any toll booths or EZpass stations when I was in MA while going back to the airport terminal to return the car. When I called the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority to find out about the alleged violation, they said that they did not have any record of such, and the one in NH, which I knew I missed, I paid online the very next day and I have proof of it. Still this company dares to try to collect on their behalf, plus an outrageous $15 Admin Fee each, although they claim that it's on the car rental contract.

I have not seen anything regarding being responsible for non-existent unpaid tolls. SHAME ON THEM!

Also, it is a shame that a reputable organization such as the Revdex.com, which so many people depend on for business references, gives this SCAM company an A+ after having 97% negative reviews. PLEASE REVIEW YOUR RATINGS.
