Best Interstate Moving and Storage Reviews (%countItem)

Best Interstate Moving and Storage moved me from a rental in Bartlett, IL to my new home in Katy, TX. They were very professional and courteous, especially Darrell on the Texas end.

After researching several interstate moving companies, and seeing that Best Interstate Moving consistently received glowing reviews, I called and immediately felt like I was in excellent hands. I was impressed by Mae who walked me through the process as well as the amazing Tequela - who was readily accessible and literally by my side throughout the entire process. The onsite team - who packed and moved my possessions were professional, helpful, and most importantly, flexible. That was key as my moving time frame had to be pushed back by a week and they were able to adapt. I highly recommend Best Interstate Moving & Storage.

Incredibly upsetting and disappointing process. They cannot guarantee anything, since they're just connecting you to other movers- a middleman, really. They can keep your items hostage for up to "21 business" days after pick up, and they cannot even guarantee a pickup day, even though it seems obvious people need to know that kind of "specific" information. Please don't go with them. Protect your home, your money, and your time and use a different company.
Look at their Revdex.com rating and you'll known everything you need to know. Can't believe I let myself fall for their false promises.

I had Helix for movers and Jasmine for customer service. All were professional, helpful and polite. No furniture but all my boxes were in excellent shape upon arrival. Highly recommend.

Recently used Best Interstate Moving and Storage to move from Southern Florida to Rhode Island, almost 1500 miles. The team was very kind and responsive to my questions and kept me updated on the pickup and drop-off dates and times. The movers themselves were very helpful and packed my items well! Nothing damaged or missing. My only complaint was that I told the person who booked the move for me that there was no loading dock at my building; however, when the movers arrived they were unaware of this and charged me about 125$ extra. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to know about the charge beforehand. Overall a great experience.

After extensive research, I am so glad to have found Best Interstate. From the start, it was a lovely experience. The contact people, Stephanie and her team were very responsive and understanding. The movers who packed me up in LA were prompt, and quick. I was a bit shaken when I was made to understand that because mine was a such a small shipment (less than 2000 lbs) it might take a while, but, I received my stuff within 10 days. The guys dropping off my stuff were quick and friendly. And, nothing was broken.

Best Interstate did a great job working with us on our first move. They were patient and understanding throughout the process. We unfortunately had some issues with communication at times, but it was eventually worked out. The van lines they used, Rayan Van Lines were less than great. On pickup, the driver tried to make us pay more money than what we had agreed upon with Best Interstate. After having our final price increased by nearly $3000 from the van lines, Best Interstate was able to talk the price back down and ended up with only a $2000 increase. I would use Best Interstate again only if they stop doing business with Rayan Van Lines

We moved from Houston to Seattle in March 2019. I was very anxious when selecting a mover that would treat our possessions with care and I can say with confidence that I ended up choosing the right company.

Scheduling the pickup was very simple, and our driver, Troy, communicated very well with us throughout the process. He even would periodically check-in with me to provide updates on the delivery day!

I am very satisfied that all our things were delivered in good condition and nothing was lost, especially considering that we required a shuttle due to limited access for trailers at each end of the trip. I would definitely choose Best Interstate again in the future.

This company has terrible customer support and shady business practices
Here is the detailed email I sent to Best Interstate explaining my TERRIBLE experience with them and they did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation.

***

I don't think there has been a full appreciation of how terrible my experience with your company has been and I feel my calm approach to all of the poor experiences I have had has jaded your view (and your companies view) of my situation. So I'm going to spell it out below (attached is a PDF version):

1) Poor Communication: When I booked your service, you could only provide me with a 1-week window for when the movers were coming but told me you would proactively notify/call me then the dates for arrival were finalized. This never happened. I had to call you every day as the window for arrival narrowed until finally (from me having to call you), I was informed you would be coming the next day!

2) Shady Business Practices: When the movers were moving out my things, they wanted me to sign blank contracts that were going to be filled in after the fact. There is no scenario on Earth where anyone should do this, and I refused. This led to the movers threating to walk out and not move my items. They actually physically exited my apartment and started to pack up the truck, all because I wouldn't sign a BLANK CONTRACT!!!!! I eventually had to talk them back and gave into signing the contract because you gave me no other choice.

3) Damaging my property: Upon moving my belongings, they broke a lamp outside my door and tried to hide/fix it using PAPER CLIPS! I can't even make this stuff up. Below are pictures. The only reason I didn't bring this up before is because the landlord of the building decided not to charge me. Your movers lucked out.

4) Poor Communication: When my items were being transported to my end destination, I was told the movers were going to arrive on Tuesday, April 22nd. I had prepared my building manager for this date and made my own work preparations. But on Saturday, April 20th at 3pm, I get a call saying the movers will be arriving the next day, EASTER SUNDAY (April 21st). So instead of spending time with my family, I was waiting for the movers to come. And in true fashion, they were late for the time range they provided.

5) Damage my property: Once my boxes were unloaded, the condition of the boxes were in rough shape to say the least. The boxes looked so bad, they probably would have arrived in better condition in the back of a broken down, open-aired, flatbed, pick-up truck. Additionally, the movers stained the back of my couch as well. See pictures below.

6) Damage my property: Due to the truly terrible way my items were handled, my 42" LG Smart TV was broken. See pictures.

7) Lost my items: And lastly, and worst of all, you lost my one-of-a-kind painting that I PAID YOU EXTRA to box up. You have treated this with a lackluster approach and presented me with a ridiculous "option" that doesn't even cover the expenses already paid to move the item. WHICH YOU LOST!

We are officially at the 20-day mark from my move. I have had to spend the time to reach out to you, instead of you reaching out to me. I have basically had to call you every other day (that's 10 calls) to get any sort of update. Between the poor communication, shady business practices, miscoordination of times, condition of my furniture and items, and losing a very expensive item for which you have offered nothing, I have had it. I have let all of this slide because all I wanted was my painting back and I could have just moved on. But now you are slapping me in the face with what you are presenting and I feel personally offended. Above is a laundry list of egregious actions which if only one of these things happened a customer would be upset, and I have SEVEN. You need to remedy this situation immediately.

Desired Outcome

All I want is my painting back. If they can't give me that, I want a value price to "replace it".

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response • May 25, 2019

came into an agreement with Best Interstate Moving LLC to facilitate his relocation from Massachusetts to Washington. Please note, Best Interstate Moving and Storage is a licensed interstate broker and not a motor carrier authorized by the Federal Government to transport your household goods. Because of such, we coordinate and arrange for an authorized household goods motor carrier to perform the transportation services. Thus, the job was contracted to Rayan Van Lines.

While in the booking process, *** provided the logistics of the relocation as well as submitted an inventory of the items that were to be transported. Our booking coordinator discussed what was inclusive with his move and various options. Among the topics that were discussed was the standard valuation.

Up until the items are loaded, the customer can elect to purchase additional insurance. If the customer elects not to purchase the additional insurance, the claim will be processed at $.60 per pound per item; inclusive with the move.
Once the estimate was complete, the document was forwarded to the customer via email for review. Also included on the estimate are the standard terms and conditions of the move. In relation to claim for damage. Please refer to Subtitle "Claims" section 9; paragraph A.

9. CLAIMS.
A. Freight Claims: It is understood and agreed that the BROKER is not a motor carrier and that the BROKER shall not be held liable for loss, damage or delay in the transportation of CUSTOMER'S household goods or property. Motor carrier shall offer CUSTOMER the option to select additional coverage for the shipment of household goods. If CUSTOMER elects the option for additional valuation of coverage, motor carrier shall be bound to transport the shipment at the agreed to value between CUSTOMER and motor carrier. If CUSTOMER waives, in writing, the right to have the motor carrier transport the shipment at the full replacement value, the shipment will not be covered by additional coverage and the value of the shipment in the event of loss, damage or delay will be that value set forth by the motor carrier in their tariff and bill of lading. UNLESS THE ADDITIONAL COVERAGE IS SELECTED, CUSTOMER MAY BE SUBJECT TO A LIMITATION OF LIABILTY IN THE MOTOR CARRIER'S FREIGHT DOCUMENTS WHEREBY CUSTOMER'S HOUSEHOLD GOODS ARE VALUED AT $0.60 (SIXTY CENTS) PER POUND PER ARTICLE. In no event shall BROKER or BROKER's motor carrier be liable to CUSTOMER or anyone else for special, incidental, or consequential damages that relate to loss, damage or delay to a shipment.
On the day of pick up, *** was presented with the Interstate Bill of Lading Valuation Addendum. This document provides the customer the options of coverage in the event there were damages sustained during transport.

Option 1; Full Replacement Value Protection educates the customer that if any article is lost, destroyed or damaged while in your mover's custody, your mover will, at its option, either 1) repair the article to the extent necessary to restore it to the same condition as when it was received by your mover, or pay you for the cost of such repairs; or 2) replace the article with an article of like kind and quality, or pay you for the cost of such a replacement. Under Full Replacement Value Protection, if you do not declare a higher replacement value on this form prior to the time of shipment, the value of your goods will be deemed to be equal to $6.00 multiplied by the weight (in pounds) of the shipment, subject to a minimum valuation for the shipment of $6,000. Under this option the cost of your move will be composed of a base rate plus an added cost reflecting the cost of providing this full value cargo liability protection for your shipment.

Option 2; waiver of full replacement value protection. This lower level of protection is provided at no additional cost beyond the base rate; however, it provides only minimal protection that is considerably less than the average value of household goods. Under this option, a claim for any article that may be lost, destroyed or damaged while in your mover's custody will be settled based on the weight of the individual article multiplied by 60 cents.

Our records reflect *** elected option 2, ultimately choosing to receive payment of $.60 per pound per article in the event there were any damaged or missing items.

While we are regretful *** had a less than favorable experience, he hired our company to facilitate and coordinate his relocation from Massachusetts to Washington and this was done. As his hired moving broker, management advocated on his behalf and spoke directly with the owner of the moving company to verify what could be done to appease the customer since there were several issues and the customer showed disdain towards the service he had received.

The owner of Rayan Van Lines agreed to make provisions in the policy and the contract the customer signed at $.60 per pound per article for any damages. The original offer extended to the customer for the damage/missing items was $300.00. The customer refused this offer. Again, we advocated for the customer and requested the motor carrier to extend more. The original offer was recanted and increased to $500.00 as the final and maximum.

*** verbally agreed to accept the $500.00, however declined to sign the required full and final settlement agreement in order for the funds to be released.

Management has informed *** no funds will be released until the agreement has been signed. Please note, policy requires the customer to file a claim with the claims office at $.60 per pound per article based on the contract. Yet, all provisions were extended to issue the customer a good faith gesture of $500.00, which he has declined.

Had Cesar as our driver and move "boss". Did a great job.

I had never hired a professional mover before so the convenience of having Interstate find a suitable willing mover to take my things off and island in Washington State to the desert in Arizona, was a gift! The process of estimating my cost was made specific to me by their questioning me about the size, shape and number of things...they estimated the weight. I was a bit worried about having done that wrong and I did have to add some things in the end, but the movers were fair with me and my price never changed. Once I figured out that the same few people always answered the phone (each knew what the other was doing), I started to relax a bit about the wait to be connected because I ALWAYS got the information I needed when I did connect. Jennifer and Stephanie are especially kind and considerate and I felt like my move was in good hands. The movers were quite careful with my things and I would recommend Interstate to ANYBODY considering an interstate move.

Another moving co actually referred Best Interstate Movers to when I was searching for quotes to move my elderly parents across country. Best Interstate is a dispatch service that coordinates with moving companies; this service keeps the normal high cost of moving to an affordable rate. We saved about $2000 over the estimates I received from other moving companies!

The representatives at Best Interstate were easy to reach and very helpful. Additionally, the inventory process was very easy to do.

The moving company subcontracted by Best Interstate was AMAZING! I'm a retired military spouse & was totally impressed with the care and attention that the movers provided.

I will definitely recommend Best Interstate Moving and Storage to any friend facing the task of a cross-country move.

Michael W. from Best Interstate planned a move for us from VA to CT using Helix Moving and Storage. Everything was on time and went smoothly. I would use them again if needed.

Interstate movers we're extremely efficient and informative. They were very careful with our personal property. The loading of the truck was amazing as they utilized every inch of space. I would certainly recommend them to everyone! We had a long distance huge move so I was very happy with the results!

I used Best to move from Virginia to Utah in February 2019. They contracted my move out to JK Moving Services, who did a great job. The people at Best responded quickly and found me a great mover for the exact date I needed (I was moving for a job and didn't have any wiggle room!). I really appreciate that. On the downside, the initial rough estimate Best gave me was much less than the official estimate, which was much less than the final quote from JK. I think Best lowballed me to get my business. The final price was reasonable for a cross country move, but it was very stressful to have the price keep going up. Overall, I was satisfied.

Total SCAM. Would give zero starts if I could. They will give you a good quote and then MORE THAN DOUBLE the cost once they have your stuff on the truck. Completely unprofessional sub contracted movers on both sides of our move. Showed up a week late and then added a 'long carry' fee because their truck wouldn't fit in the loading dock.

Marketed at 5/5 Top customer svc movers. Experienced over 30 issues with company. They refused to provide moving services just prior to move.
The issues are far too long to explain in this limited space. I will do my best to summarize.

I called to request their service 6 weeks prior to my move date. They told me how great they were and covered their AI software that identifies the estimate of move. I was told I would be sent a link to initiate the process.

I was waiting for a link and never received an email. I noticed I received an odd txt msg. It was the link to start process.

I did so, and never heard back from them.

A couple weeks went by...

I had to call support but no support number is available, only "initiate quote" phone number. I was told that they had my info and they had sent me an email. I received no email.

I called back, I said I was going to Europe for 3 weeks and would not be able to communicate by phone and needed an email address for communication. I was told they would send me another email. She hung up before I could ask for their email. I texted their email.

I never received an email. I never received a quote. I received phone calls from them while in Europe at 3:00am and 4:00am at least 7 or 8 times. I called to leave a voice mail and txted them over and over that I could not communicate with them over phone. I needed an email. They continued to call in the early morning hours. This ruined MANY of my days while on holiday.

Still no resolution.

I just called and talked to a manager. I talked to *** in charge of Customer Support. I told her about all the issues and asked how I could get this resolved for the move. She said, "We will not be able to provide you service". I said, "I have 2 weeks before my move and you are not following through? She would only respond with, "you will have to find another service".

I have phone records and txt msg records of all of the above. Again, there are so many, I would have to spend several hours to collect all the information and it would take more space than available here.

Desired Outcome

I would like to make sure that the public understands how this company operates. If they fail to meet basic needs of a consumer and the consumer tries to resolve the issue, they simply refuse to provide service. This ensures they continuously receive a 5/5 star rating. I have done numerous searches that all show this company being the number 1 interstate moving company. Here are a couple websites that show this.... https://www.move.org/best-interstate-moving-companies/ https://www.reviews.org/moving/best-interstate-moving-and-storage-review/

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response • May 25, 2019

The customer solicited our service to relocate her household goods from California to Tennessee with the tentative date of May 29, 2019. Our office-initiated communication with the customer by forwarding the customer the video link in order to capture the items that would be transported.

While we aim to address each customer that request quotes or estimates from our office, due to the extremely high volume, at times there are delays in which a customer will receive a response. As we want to ensure the customer is provided the most accurate quote or estimate possible, the preferred method of communication is by phone. Unfortunately, due to *** being away internationally, we were not able to effectively communicate with her.

Once we were able to speak with the customer, *** demanded she be given recompense for the level of service and inconvenience she had received. Management made a judgement call in order to prevent any further escalation or to cause any further stress to *** we would not be able to service her move.

We are regretful *** had a less than pleasurable experience. However, please note, Best Interstate Moving+ Storage did not collect any funds from *** and reserves the right to refuse service to any party.

In an age where it's go, go, go, Best Interstate Moving and Storage has the moves! From top-notch customer service to guiding you through the hectic logistics of moving to having your best interests at heartit's all cared for with friendliness, expert knowledge, and high quality. There's joy in working with them!

Paid for services not done, Poor customer service, Horrible moving experience via subcontracted company.
After agreeing to an initial estimate of ~$8,000 the company BIMAS hired (Ryans Vans) arrived on Mar 30th (after calling and attempting to change the date/time multiple times). When getting a quote I informed BIMAS that I had a large 3BR house. Only two movers showed up in a rented UHAUL. One of the movers kept leaving the premises and the other one kept taking repeated smoke breaks. It took them almost 10 hours to load the truck. They were supposed to show up with specialized supplies for things like my TV and they had nothing. Numerous emails were sent to BIMAS with promises of communication but repeatedly fell silent. Nobody told me the moving company was going to expect cash or a personal check so I was left scrambling. After my stuff was finally packed I hit the road to drive to Arizona. I was told to expect by items by Apr 5th at the latest. Apr 6th rolls around and the truck finally shows up with my stuff. There were 2 men in the truck from Ryans Vans and 2 more men who were local hired muscle. The two local men did literally all the work so it again took FOREVER. The two local men were also very nice but the two Ryans Vans gentlemen were constantly being horribly mean to them and it was very awkward. I felt obligated to give the two local men a tip for having to put up with the two men from Ryans Vans. One of the men from Ryans Vans bullied me into letting him on my personal home WiFi and would not stop asking me to help him setup his Roku box. I finally relented and then he took the box into the cab of his truck and sat and watched TV the entire time. The other main claimed he had back issues and couldn't help with any of the moving. I am just absolutely flabbergasted at this point! I have numerous damaged items because the poor nature in which my stuff was packed as well. I have previous experience with a cross country move via Atlas Van lines and let me just tell you how INFINITELY BETTER that experience was. I will never do business with BIMAS again and will actively let everyone I know and all of my social media outlets (thousands of people) know to avoid this company at all costs.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking at a 50% refund plus a refund for all services I paid for that I did not receive.

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response • Apr 24, 2019

Management has reached an amicable resolution with the customer in which he accepted all terms. Therefore, we consider this case closed.

Customer Response • Apr 25, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Best Interstate Moving and Storage service/value proposition does not match what they provide in reality.
Best Interstate Moving and Storage self-advertise as a "door-to-door" relocation service. Although the employees were professional and considerate, their business model provides zero value to the end consumer. I experienced multiple issues with my relocation and Best Interstate Moving and Storage provided zero value throughout the ordeal. I blindly trusted their service promise and it will not happen again. Any person or company looking to relocate in the future is better off using a third-party review sites to vet and validate the moving company, rather than Best Interstate Moving and Storage, because at least then you own any miscalculations. A broker in any other industry would have some contractual or moral responsibility for the provider they recommend to the consumer, however Best Interstate Moving and Storage only made the situation worse as acting a pure "middle man" or level of bureaucracy, instead of a conduit/broker. I will never use their services again and thousands of dollars of damage items, resulting from the moving company Best Interstate Moving and Storage recommended to me will never be reclaimed.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be fully refunded for the entire cost of my move.

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response • Apr 10, 2019

Mr. *** came into an agreement with Best Interstate Moving LLC to facilitate his relocation from Washington to Utah. Please note, Best Interstate Moving and Storage is a licensed interstate broker and not a motor carrier authorized by the Federal Government to transport your household goods. Because of such, we coordinate and arrange for an authorized household goods motor carrier to perform the transportation services. Thus, the job was contracted to Move on Moving.

While in the booking process, Mr. provided the logistics of the relocation as well as submitted an inventory of the items that were to be transported. In no event shall BROKER or BROKER's motor carrier be liable to CUSTOMER or anyone else for special, incidental, or consequential damages that relate to loss, damage or delay to a shipment.

On the day of pick up, Mr. was presented with the Interstate Bill of Lading Valuation Addendum.

Our records reflect Mr. elected option 2, ultimately choosing to receive payment of $.60 per pound per article in the event there were any damaged or missing items.

The management team at Best Interstate Moving + Storage advocated on the customer's behalf each time there was an issue with the relocation. From speaking with the owner of the motor carrier, ensuring that he would personally contact the customer as oppose to those persons designated to speak with the customer at the supervisor level. In addition, our office has reconvened in negotiations with ownership at Move on Moving to request additional compensation for the overall inconvenience sustained during the relocation.

While we are regretful Mr. had a less than favorable experience, he hired our company to facilitate and coordinate his relocation from Washington to Utah and this was done. We are not able to honor the customer's request for a refund as the service was rendered.
