Best Interstate Moving and Storage Reviews (%countItem)

They took 32 business days to deliver my goods. It was awful customer service, shady terms and conditions, poor quality control, and an overall terrible experience. My advice: rent a U-Haul and load it using local movers.

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response

Mr. My office has attempted to reach out to you directly multiple times over the last month. I'd greatly appreciate a brief opportunity to speak with you at your earliest convenience in order to discuss and rectify your sentiments toward my company.

We had a great experience with Best Interstate Moving & Storage. We decided to pay extra to have only our belongings on the truck, and this was a good decision. They contracted with Xpress Moving to do the packing and these guys were GREAT. They were very gentle and thorough and everything arrived at the new house in one piece and in great shape. We highly recommend Best Interstate Moving & Storage.

Thanks *** for the kind words! We are happy to hear you had a seamless move. Enjoy your new hometown!

Best Interstate Moving and Storage did not meet their end of a documented guarantee in delivery time of my possessions.
Hello,

My name is ***. On September 19, 2017, I had pursued Best Interstate Moving and Storage to handle a move I needed to make for my new job. This involved a 787 mile drive from Mooresville, NC to Spring Lake, Michigan. It was explained to me several times on the phone call during agreement, that the move will not take more than 21 business days. This is also explained in a confirmation form from the company where "The delivery time frame is up to 21 business days from client's first date available for delivery for moves." This earliest delivery date ended up being confirmed as September 26th as my furniture was picked up Sunday evening on September 24th, allowing two days to travel the mileage in the move. It is also very important to note, that Best Interstate Moving and Storage is a moving coordinating company, in other words a company that assigns an independent moving company to do all of the physical labor of moving my belongings, driving them to my new home, and unloading the furniture in a timely manner. The company that Best Interstate assigned was United Moving and Storage. As my belongings were thought to be in transit for the first week, I had not heard any updates from the Best Interstate dispatchers. I had called the dispatchers several times a week for 4 weeks, asking about my delivery. Each week, the dispatchers said my stuff will be arriving the following week and that they would contact me about delivery payment and a specific date in 3-4 days from said conversation. This continued for 4 weeks consistently, with no answers of where my furniture was exactly located or any kind of payment details. I also requested contact information for the General Manager and had spoke with him about these issues. He was just as ambiguous and unhelpful as the dispatchers were in details of my delivery. I was notified yesterday October 24th, 2017, that once again my furniture will not arrive until next week with zero details of specific date or payment. Today, October 25th, 2017 is the 21st business day after "earliest available date for delivery" and I still do not have my belongings in my possession. This is a breach of their agreement, and now I am seeking any kind of help to hold these moving companies liable for this unfortunate circumstance. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I am not sure if I will ever see my possessions again.

Thank you

Desired Outcome

What I am hoping to gain from my file of complaint is that Best Interstate Moving and Storage finishes the job they agreed to immediately with no damage to my belongings, while also taking liability for their lack of performance in my move. I would also like to request the owner of Best Interstate and Storage to send me a formal apology for all the aggravation this has caused me, while also affecting my start to a new job, causing me to take a future day off for the delivery. I do not believe I should have to pay anything for my delivery as it was not done within the term agreed.

Mr.,
I am gratified the Revdex.com allows this forum for consumers and I am equally heartened to acknowledge your complaint and offer our restitution concerning your relocation. First and foremost let me confirm that you are correct and that your delivery of house hold goods has fallen outside your guaranteed twenty day business time threshold for delivery. A missed delivery window for a relocation my company has arranged is a very rare occurrence; however it has impacted yourself as our trusted customer and therefore is wholly unacceptable.
I can verify my management team has waived all remaining balances on your account. You have my most sincere apology for all of your undue stress associated with your delay. I thank you for your patience in allowing our team to continue working on your behalf and I look forward to speaking with you directly at your earliest convenience.
Most respectfully

Broker who used an incompetent company to move my furniture from Houston To Los Angeles.
They state that they use professional top class moving companies but my furniture was lost, damaged and the whole move was beyond belief. I have 192 pages of complaints and pictures and evidence to show that thy did not fulfill the contract that we signed - paperwork was altered and after 4 weeks I have had no help in moving forward with any attempt to resolve all the issues raised.

This is an overall complaint against 3 companies - 2 that they contracted out to:
Best Interstate Movers and Storage Jupiter Florida
Movers Choice Texarkana
Ready Set moving and van lines El Paso Texas
Product_Or_Service: MOVING HOUSTON TO LOS ANGELES

Desired Outcome

Refund I require a full refund of all charges which totaled over $11,000. Damaged furniture restored to its original condition. Broken and damaged furniture replaced Goods lost replaced and monetary compensation for all the stress and upset caused by all the incompetent people I had to encounter. This has had a direct affect on my health and mental state as I have lost so much due to their behavior and lack of due care and attention with my belongings. Nobody is being accountable for what has happened.

Ms.,
Please accept my most heartfelt apology for your recent relocation experience. On my behalf and that of my team, it has and continues to be a pleasure working with you albeit under less than ideal circumstances. Our overriding goal at Best Interstate is complete customer satisfaction and unfortunately we have missed that mark in your case. I have verbally outlined our plan of restitution last week and will be sending the formal document for your approval today. As you know I continue to stand ready at your disposal as do all of the employees at Best Interstate.

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response

Ms.-
Again, I appreciate your utilizing the Revdex.com as a venue to find relief in your grievance against my company. I will now provide my answer in its final form for the Revdex.com.
As I have said numerous times to you I do wish to make every single customer of my company completely satisfied and I have a strong proven track record of evidence proving such. However I am only able to stretch so far beyond what is reasonable. Providing you with a 100% refund of funds you paid Best Interstate (already completed Nov. 6th) and then shouldering the entire burden of your "claimed" damages (I think your last estimate is now $10,000.00?)from another party is unreasonable and quite honestly unfair.
Your main focus of your complaint against my firm is that we provided brokerage services linking you to an "inept" carrier identified as "Mover's Choice". The Revdex.com itself holds this carrier (Movers Choice) with an "A-"rating.
You specifically per your contract with Mover's Choice declined additional valuation protection for your household goods. (Page 8 on your Interstate Bill of Lading attached and forwarded to the Revdex.com)
The valuation protection option you did sign for with Mover's Choice you have yet to formally file compensation for the damages you claim to have suffered, at least to the best of my knowledge at this date of writing. I have urged you to begin this process at least twice over the last month. Instead you have only demanded of Best Interstate to provide you with unsubstantiated compensation not the company supposedly inflicting the actual damages.

Now per your contract with my company Best Interstate (also attached and forwarded to the Revdex.com) specifically states in article 9a on page 5 your broker is not the motor carrier and cannot be held liable for loss, damage or delay....

Notwithstanding this above I still wish to once more offer a settlement above my already 100% refund of your funds paid to Best Interstate(receipts also attached and forwarded to the Revdex.com) of funds returned. In addition to your complete refund of $1,471.72 I will offer another $1,528.28 bringing the final total of compensation to you from Best Interstate to $3,000.00. My firm will continue to assist you as you seek any other legal/contractual means to secure additional compensation with any other party attached to your relocation. This is my final offer, one that acknowledges an unsatisfied customer only and not by any means one of acknowledging liability of services rendered. This offer will require a signed release.

If you so choose to reject this final offer, I am very willing to request Arbitration per the Arbitration Program we offer please see http://www.bestinterstatemovingandstorage.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/NoticeofArbitrationProcedures.pdf
I will await your guidance concerning this option if necessary.

Most respectfully

They offer a '4 hour' window for pick-up times but once the debit was charged, times were moved twice including 10:30pm and then 7am.
Promised 12:30 window. No call. Called at 4:30 and was told (ridiculously) 7-9pm. Not bad enough? Third party shady driver then says XX:XX-XX:XX!!!!!! On a Thursday in an apartment where we sign a petition that says no noise after 8:00!!!!! They cash the check faster than you can hand it over then absolute st storm afterwards. The ratings are absolutely bolstered. DO NOT GO WITH BIM!!! AVOID!!! And look at what they charged! Five stars from Moving.com is really a suspicious partnership.

And the 'shipping boxes' that they advertise are two piece weird cut outs that you have to literally tape together to form a 'box'. More shady dealings. How can anyone with a conscious work for these scam artists?

Desired Outcome

I took a half-day from work and now need to spend more time off for them to pick up in the morning. In all about a full day's pay and the grief that I had to endure chasing a third party company that BIM appears to have washed their hands of. I am asking for adjustments based off of the time I spent waiting for BIM to deliver on a contract that they ignored once I provided payment.

Customer Response

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(2000, 7, 2017/09/20) */

Had contract/agree w/ BI. Sub came to load boxes/move changed agree completely more than dbl quote.
Still has our boxes w/o resolution.
We had agree w/ BI to move remaining boxes that we could not fit in first move. Our agree w/ them was by weight. Sub showed up, loaded boxes and presented a bill for more than dbl stating they go by space used?! Have not seen our boxes after 30 days. do not know where our things are and condition of them. Do not believe they can fairly give adequate weight of things since they were NEVER prepared to do so. Now we have COMPLETE distrust in them and their business practices.

Desired Outcome

Would like someone to look in to business practices of both Best Interstate in FL as well as their sub R&R Moving and Storage in CA. Requesting full refund of prepaid $ so we can just move the remainder by ourselves costing us a GREAT deal of time and $. Seeking monetary penalities for BOTH companies, Apology, notification to gov agencies and licensed revoked for both companies. I have MS and this EXTREMELY stressful situation is causing much distress and aggrevation of my illness.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
we came to a resolution by both parties

Best Interstate Moving and Storage engaged in a bait and switch scheme for a cross country residential moving service.
We contracted with Best Interstate Moving and Storage in July for a cross-country residential move from LA
to Chicago for a job relocation. We secured three formal quotes from BIMS, Mayflower and Atlas World Group.
After reviewing all three quotes, we proceeded with BIMS based on the original quote of $10445.80. 7 days prior
to our move date, BIMS contacted me to do a customary review of our inventory list. It was clear after the review
that they had intentionally left out a number of items disclosed in the original inventory review. The updated estimate
after the final inventory review was $11906.81. I discussed this issue with a BIMS customer service agent,
***, who assured me they recorded all conversations and would work with me to resolve the cost issue.
This was one day before the move.
On the day of move, August 8, the local moving company that BIMS had brokered, Cal Van Lines, arrived to begin
packing our personal belongings onto the truck. They did a final
walk through and presented us with an updated estimate showing the cost of the move had increased
to $19,500.00. We refused to sign the paperwork and did not allow them to move our items onto the truck.
We contacted BIMS with our concerns and they agreed we should cancel the service with Cal Van Lines
as a result of the dramatic cost increase. My husband and I were immediately concerned that this was a
"bait and switch" scam. BIMS assured us they would find us another reputable carrier, and hours later
proposed United Transportation Moving and Storage in Northfield CA. They assured me this company was
highly rated and Revdex.com accredited. After a cursory internet search, they were neither highly rated NOR even
rated by the Revdex.com.
After researching the company we immediately contacted BIMS to let them know we were not comfortable
with this replacement moving company and requested a refund for the full deposit paid, $2232.39.
They refused to process our refund and instead insisted that "services had been rendered" so they did not
owe us a credit. Please note all conversations with BIMS are recorded and should be considered as evidence.
I can attach all relevent documentation for your review including the original estimates and contracts.
We wanted to report our concerns to the Revdex.com that this merchant is
a fraudulent company. We are also incurring addiitonal costs to find another moving company, change our flights,
secure hotel accommodations and pay for auto transportation since our cars are being shipped out tomorrow to
Chicago.

Desired Outcome

As indicated above, we are requesting a full refund for the deposit paid prior to the move ($2232.39.) in addition to compensation for the other costs incurred as a result of the disruption. We have had to hire a new mover, change our flights, and pay for transportation and a hotel because BIMS did not complete our move on the agreed date. They are unethical and fraudulent and should not be allowed to offer services to other customers.

households not delivered
I relocated from PA to CA, so I used best interstate moving and storage to move households. At first, it was going smoothly. Movers came to my home at PA and shipped households on May 20. At the time, the expected delivery date was set to July 9. However, this company told me that whenever I am ready, they can schedule the delivery appropriately. When my apartment in CA was ready to move in at sometime in June, I start to contact this company's customer service to set up the delivery of households. However, they did not commit to anything. Whenever I called them, the customer service rep simply told me that he/she would communicate with the mover and get back to me. Nobody followed up seriously. Sometimes, they simply disconnected my call abruptly not to continue. It passed months after I start to contact their customer service. Households have not been delivered until now and I am still struggling to contact them. This company doesn't even respond to the e-mail that I complained about this case. This is the worst company that I interacted so far. I still did not receive households

confirm the delivery date and time and deliver as promised.

new customer rep provided an acceptable resolution.

I have to say my move to NYS with Best Interstate Moving and Storage went beyond excellent. I needed to get out of my apartment located in Sherman Oaks CA by 5/31/17 . I called the moving company that moved me out to CA 2 years earlier and I was shocked by the quote , $6,000 + , essentially for the same exact items I moved out . So I called another one of the well known movers plus a few advertised local ones ( Allied , North American , etc). The prices were all in the stratosphere for various reasons or you had to use an automated system to register all of your items measured in cubic feet . I just was not comfortable using this method for such a long distance move without meeting with a rep of that company . So " time of the essence " kicked in . I think I was about 20 days away from my exit date . I googled top movers and Best Interstate pooped up and I gave them a call and I spoke to one of their moving coordinators named Solomon and I hit him up without about 70 questions in rapid succession and he answered them flawlessly. I have to say I still was skeptical but he was very diligent in covering all aspects of my move from the furniture to my boxed clothing. The price was OUTSTANDING and concised with no surprises. We went over my inventory that needed to be moved plus some packing for my tv's and other items of value. I left a nominal deposit to secure my pickup date and then I received subsequent phone calls and emails from Solomon and a quality control person and dispatcher. They hired out a 3rd party moving company who they vetted and previously worked with and they were excellent as they picked up and delivered to NYS in the dates that were given to me. I actually had the same driver for both aspects of the move. In addition, I relayed the terms and the price of the move to the lady at North American because she was taken aback by the price and she asked me to please contact when my move was finalized in NYS and give her feedback to the quality of the move. I called her a few days later and told her the move exceeeded my expectations and everything was accounted for in the same condition as when it was picked up . She sounded amazed and was going to report that back to her bosses .

So obviously I highly recommend Best Interstate Movers and especially Solomon , who was my moving coordinator who was OUTSTANDING!! I hope this review helps you and reinforces your decision in using Best Interstate with any of your future moves.....Best of Luck !!!

THANK YOU BIM for helping us to make this move from Indianapolis, IN to Milford, NJ a smooth (as possible) move. It was a really large move, one that we were worried about, but you took all the worry away. BIM not only gave us an amazing quote for our move back in January, but they stood behind that quote as we moved in May, even as other companies were raising the rates for a summer move!
That was the biggest relief we could have ever asked for!!!

To make it even better, BIM listened to our concerns about moving companies that were available, and found the best company for us that addressed our concerns. THANK YOU BIM for finding the best company to move our personal items from Indiana to New Jersey.
Both the pick up and delivery crews (including the drivers) were highly skilled, knowledgeable, trained, but most of all friendly and kind. Our delivery driver even helped with the unload by moving boxes, unwrapping blankets, etc. We were seriously blessed with both of these companies.

However, as we waited for our moving truck to arrive, we found it difficult to receive much, if any, communication from BIM regarding a possible delivery date. This made it difficult to travel for day(s) excursion to nearby areas, with the fear that the truck would arrive with little notice. After contacting BIM regarding our frustrations, they assured us they would fix the lack of communication by their customer service department, and honestly, I have full faith that they will. This is a family company that prides itself in standing out from the competition, and they have always done just that for us!

We also gave BIM several suggestions of things that customers should know and be prepared for to make their moves that much smoother, and not caught off guard. Once again, not only did BIM listen, they called back to thank us for reaching out with suggestions.

Here is what we would call
"Top 5 things to prepare for when moving"

1. TAPE:
There are additional expenses that could come up. Blankets are FREE to borrow, but you are expected to pay for the $3.00 / roll of tape the movers use to pack furniture, such as tables, pianos or oversized boxes for your last minutes large items. Be prepared to pay for each roll, even if they do not use the entire roll, at the end of your move. This tape is definitely better than any tape we purchased at local stores, and therefore worth the money.

2. BOXES:
Even if you pack your belongings, there will be several items that the professional movers will need/want to put into large boxes. Items such as a large kids toy, bean bags, TVs and even an upright piano can be boxed. At times, these boxes will be torn apart and wrapped around the items, such as a piano, with blankets and tape, lots of tape (at $3.00/roll). You, the customer pays for each box used, whether boxed or ripped apart and used. Be sure to know how expensive each box is so you can possibly purchase beforehand at a local store and have ready... or be ready to pay at the conclusion of your move.

3. FOOD / DRINKS for moving crews:
Providing food and drinks, especially water for both the pick up and delivery crews, keep your crews happy, hydrated and working hard. This is an unknown (extra/not necessary expense, but king gesture), but can quickly cost an additional $200.

4. TIPPING:
Although you may think that tipping is not necessary, and just a nice gesture, many crew leaders expect that their crew be tipped. The price is up to you, but a happy crew makes for a happy move. Be sure to have extra cash on hand for EACH crew member, including the driver, who is also responsible for safely driving you personal items to your next location. Kind of a "Scratch my back, I scratch yours" or a "take care of me, I take care of you" idea. Being prepared helps to eliminate any uncomfortable situation for all involved.

5. LENGTH OF DELIVERY:
Be prepared for an extra charge if your truck can not park close to your door for delivery. You will pay an additional charge per cubic foot that the crew needs to walk to and from the truck and the door of your residence. If you don't know the size, direction (such as curvy) and dimensions of your driveway, such as I didn't, then be prepared to pay a large additional charge. This must be paid BEFORE the truck begins to unload.

Knowing this TOP 5 things, combined with the expertise of hiring BIM to get the perfect moving company for your needs, will make your move as stress-free as possible.

- thank your for this amazing review. Your helpful tips will certainly help others! We enjoyed working with you and wish you nothing but the BEST!

I saw this company's review on move.org and decided to place an inquiry. Within moments, I got a call back. I spoke with Frank and he walked me through the process. I was rushed because my company was relocating me from Georgia to New Jersey but they needed me there in three weeks. Frank took all the stress away from the inventory process. I was thankful to learn they could do it all over the phone. I didn't have to have someone come out to inspect my home. Best provided me with a pick up window and delivery and while it would have been ideal to have it delivered earlier, I understood it was part of the process. They saved me a ton of money. My items arrived undamaged. I would highly recommend this company.

Best Interstate Moving and Storage Response

Hi*** - we are so happy to hear you had a great experience. Frank is a tremendous asset to the team. Thank you for your kind words. We hope you enjoy your new home!

I hired Best Interstate (BI) because after researching, there were only very positive comments on the internet. I had a terrible experience with movers that BI brokered my move to (too long to describe with the limit here)and was charged almost double the estimated cost. BI sent an email offering a gift card if I wrote a review. So, I wrote an honest review on mymovingreviews.com.
The owner contacted me and asked me to remove the review since the movers were the problem, not BI. I told him that BI set me up with those movers, so BI was the problem. I had also mentioned in the review that everyone at BI was very nice to deal with. The owner sent me a $200 gift card.
After that, I did a little research on the movers and found only horrible reviews on the internet. I wrote a follow up review on mymovingreviews.com stating that Best Interstate had clearly not done any due diligence on the company they brokered my move to and were therefore totally responsible for my horrific experience. (Among other things, the owner of the moving company actually asked me to go to his bank and deposit cash in his account.) In the review, I recommended that people hire their own moving company and not rely on BI.
I looked today, and both of my reviews are gone. The only reviews are 5 star "glowing" reviews of BI. So apparently, they delete negative reviews.
My moving experience was horrible, I was fraudulently overcharged. The empty truck weigh in was done 4 days before they arrived to pick up my furniture and had no information to prove it was the same truck. BI told me if the tractor number was the same on the empty and full tickets, then it is the same truck. The tractor number was "1". Not exactly a good identifier. And the trailer number was different, but BI said that did not matter. So I was charged for an 8,000 pound move which was estimated to be 4,000 pounds. (A move to a 1300 sq foot house.) Only one mover showed up to unload the truck and was there for 7 hours. Limit reached.
Product_Or_Service: Moving

Desired Outcome

Refund I only chose BI after extensive research on the internet. Since I could not find any negative comments, I felt they must be a very good company. Now I know that they delete the negative comments. I had an estimate from Allied Moving, after a person physically came to my house and inspected all of the contents, of 3500 pounds. BI estimated 4088 pounds. The "actual" weight was over 8,000 pounds. The move cost me $1652 more than BI's estimate.
