Would not recommend! Very unprofessional! Job was too big for them to handle!

Deceptive sales tactics. Salesperson came to my house and lied, stating that they were affiliated with my local power company in order to obtain my contact information.

I agreed to have Blue Raven Solar work on having solar panels installed on my house. From the very beginning Blue Raven told me that they would handle getting all necessary approvals for the project, specifically including my Home Owners Association. They said I did not need to do anything regarding the HOA. Blue Raven eventually told me that everything was approved and ready, so they installed the solar panels. After the panels were installed, I received a letter for the HOA stating they they reject the installation and that some of the panels must be removed. After checking with Blue Raven, they voluntarily informed me that the HOA had contacted Blue Raven TWICE to reject the project. Not only did Blue Raven not inform me of the rejection, but they installed the panels anyway. Now the panels mus be removed, my roof will need extensive repair after the removal, and my solar system no longer can provide an acceptable amount of electricity due to the required removal of the panels.

In response to Mr.’s complaint:

Blue Raven Solar is in contact with Mr. regarding the
issues with his HOA. It was determined that the HOA was at fault in this case. As
discussed between our legal department and Mr., Blue Raven has been
working with his HOA to ensure that he will not have to remove his solar
system. We received confirmation that the HOA will not be requiring the removal
of his system on 7/27/2020. Blue Raven does want to apologize about the lack of
communication regarding his HOA which led to this confusion. We have provided
feedback to those involved in this lack of communication. We look forward to
continuing to provide a quality system for Mr.’s energy needs. This
issue has been resolved and we would ask that this complaint be removed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

On May 27, 2020 a Sales Rep (Rudolfo C of Blue Raven Solar) came to give a estimate and determine if I qualified for financing for solar installation. During the interior inspection of light fixtures/bulbs he caused the floor lamp in my living room to shift. Later that night I went to turn the lamp and discovered the turn key to lamp was bent. I turned lamp on and it started shooting our sparks and started smoking. I unplugged the lamp and did a inspection of it, discovering not only was the turn key damaged but the entire plastic casing that held the light bulb was shattered.
May 28, 2020-I emailed Mr C and explained the condition of my lap and requested a resolution. Got no response.
June 5, 2020 I reached out to company Headquarters and was told to keep reaching out to Mr. C and it was stated that a complaint would be opened and information would be forwarded to his field Manager. It was also stated that someone would get back with me with 1 week. (that didn't happen)
June 29, 2020 spoke with Mr C, explained who I was and told him about my lamp. Mr C sid he was with a customer and he said he would get back with me. (that didn't happen)
July 11, 2020. I had decided to just have the lamp repaired myself but when I went to pick it up to move it the bottom came loose and burned stuff came out of the bottom.
July 15, 2020 contacted compy HQ again (spoke with Delilah) she said my earlier complaint had been closed because Mr C told them he was either going to contact me to resolve the issue, or that he contacted me and had resolved the issue. (Neither of those happened) I was also told Mr C would be contacted today and his Manager was going to be notified today. (I don't believe either of these things are going to happen and since this floor lamp is the primary light source in my living room I am filing this complaint)

Door to door salesperson sets up an appointment with what she called "an engineer" to go over possible solar set up for my house. She said, the engineer would draw up a quick plan for the solar system and the meeting would only take 10-15 minutes of my time. Gave her my email address for contact information.
Day of appointment arrives, but I cannot be there (work happens). I arrange for an adult family member to be there to go over everything instead.
"The engineer" arrives in an unmarked car, wearing street clothes (no logos, nothing to indicate who he works for). He then refuses to go forward with the plans for a solar system. He is completely stumped for words and cannot complete a full sentence to explain why he cannot go over the roof and the plan. Says he can only go over the plan with the homeowner. Really? He cannot draw up his plan, go over pricing and options and trust that my adult family member can relay this information to me? Seems scammy to me. Then he claims he has no way to contact me because I left no contact information. Well, I did provide my email to your company earlier.
Then I come to the Revdex.com and check out their reviews. Boy did I dodge a bullet with this company.
Blue Raven in my state (NC) seems sloppy, scammy, and all around untrustworthy to me. If Blue Raven cannot trust my family member as my representative for a basic overview (plan, pricing, etc), then I cannot trust them with my business.

Lies, lies and lies nonstop from salespeople to office. Warranties are an unbelievable sham. Doesn’t even return calls despite contract saying they have 48 business hours to do so. But they will use their very slanted contract to excuse for the worst customer service ever. Don’t know how they’ve lasted 5 years but explains their high employee turnover. Just a couple of their deceptions and inexcusable actions were once they had our money outright was the surprise charges like 4k to remove and replace after roofing (tho salesperson said opposite) fees to even see if a broken panel is warranteed after 24 mo from install to much of what every other review on here wrote. Never in the 4 yrs met the production guarantee. Don’t trust their warranties. They don’t actually honor them. Their sales people lie. Then their office people are defensive and not interested in solving customer concerns. Gave them multiple chances to remedy before posting review. Currently looking for a new solar company to take over where Blue Raven failed.

I bought the panels in September 2019. The process went smoothly. I was approached by a sales representative a few months prior and after some research decided to go with them. The process was almost a month from sitting down with the sales representative to when the utility company turned the system on. This is were the fun beings. I have a tile roof top and the installation crew damaged it. The initial estimate was very underestimated. The problem is that it is June 2020 and I am still having issues. Blue Raven did not get my roof fixed until end of May 2020 and that was because I kept on calling them about once every 2 weeks. They did not pull the necessary permit to pull the panels off and in fact they let their roofing subcontractor pull them off, which I was against. I contacted the regional building department about the permit for the panels and found out that the roofing subcontractor doesn't even have a license to do roofing in my city. Long story won't put it all in here, but after over 50 percent of my roof top being replaced, waiting for the roofing company to get a license so they can finish and wondering exactly where my 28 thousand dollars of solar panels are I am just waiting for my property to be put back on my roof. There are so many more details as well. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a company. I would not recommend them to anyone because of their service department.

Blue Solar engaged in door-to-door sales solicitation at home, without any city permit and against my door advisement of "no soliciting." When I asked why he wasn't following my request, the sales person indicated he wasn't selling anything but giving information about an energy program. This is very deceptive. Blue Solar is not out to bring awareness to solar, they are a private, for-profit solar sales/install company. They should not be telling people they are not trying to sell anything, when they obviously are. This also seems to be in direct violation of the Colorado Consumer Protection Act as a deceptive/unfair trade practice.

These claims of deceptive business practices are false and based on a one-time interaction that Mr. had with a Blue Raven sales representative. Customer is satisfied. Please resolve complaint.

What a joke! Salesman Kyle gave me a quote. After reviewing the quote, my wife and I spoke with several Realtors, competitors of Blue Raven, other people in our area that have solar, and determined that it was best for us to pass. I tell Kyle over text and he is very rude and condescending. Very unprofessional and uneducated on what saving money means. I will not recommend anyone to Blue Raven due to this experience.

The Representative sale pitch included a $2000 rebate once everything was complete to compete since I had offer from other companies with better price. Once everything was complete and I contacted the representative asking about the rebate. His reply was he is no longer with the company and I should contact the company directly. I contacted Blue Raven about the issue and they agree it was it was dishonest of the representative to make such promise, but since the rebate was not written in the contract they are not obligate to fulfill it. If the representative did not promise me on the rebate there was no way I would sign the contract since other company had better price. It seem like to me you have to me you have representative to make whatever promise to get the people to sign the contract and once the contract is signed and completed you just walk away.

Hi ***,We have reached out several times regarding your concern.
Please get back to us as soon as possible so that we can resolve this. Sincerely, Maddie E.Blue Raven Solar

This mess started on Oct 21, 2019 with a salesman named Mike (I have the full name if anyone deals with this). Mike was the one who came by after a door knocker was setting up appointments if people would consider solar. My first mistake was considering it. Mike pressed the 30% tax credit by the end of 2019 aspect exclusively in the pitch as the deduction expired then. I'm sure he has a legal out which is my fault, but the presentation was all about getting this done in 2019 for that tax credit. No mention of what might happen if it didn't get approvals and scheduled for completion after that. We responded to what we were asked for in Oct/Nov timeframe then basically heard they were planning it pending approval on Dec 12, then nothing. In late January, they started sending info again, but I ignored it because the deadline had passed and I'm not going to make up the difference, the relative savings isn't that good. Finally they kept pestering and saying if we wanted to cancel, since it was after the 3 days from site survey, that we owed them $1215 for terminating the contract. They leave out that it additionally says "without cause". No one from the company contacted me to discuss what would happen if not installed by Dec 31 or what my options were. Certainly not the salesman/closer. After it became obvious that I didn't want to continue, a customer support agent (Nika) offered make up money in the hundreds "for the lack of communication during the time we were awaiting permits and that you did not receive updates from Mike during this time." But I'm looking at ~$20K total so I wasn't too interested in taking that risk with on an agreement that started out this poorly. I had offered a compromise since there was outlay on BR's part, but that was ignored. If they come after me, so be it, maybe I'll be forced to pay the whole thing. My position is that my cancellation was "with cause" and at a minimum shared blame here and not 100% on me.

Blue Raven Solar Response • May 28, 2020

In response to Mr.
***’s Claim:

Mr. signed a
legally binding installation agreement on October 21, 2019. He admits to
ignoring Blue Raven’s updates starting in January. The
delay between December 12th and January 13th that he is
referring to was due to permitting. Blue Raven Solar was waiting on HOA
signatures as well as the city permit. While these delays were inconvenient,
Blue Raven is not at fault as we are at the mercy of the city when getting
permits approved for a solar system. The possibility of these delays was
outlined in the agreement that Mr. signed. However, we should have
kept him updated between December and January, so he was aware we were still
working on the permits for his system. Since Mr. asked to cancel his
contract after his cancellation deadline (which was October 24, 2019) he is
legally required to pay the $1,215 termination fee, which is used to cover some
of the costs that Blue Raven incurred on his system design and permitting. He
had no cause to cancel his contract. The delays in which he claims are the
justified “cause of his cancellation” were due to city permits. Again, this
possibility was in his signed installation agreement. His installation agreement
clearly stated that if the construction of his system started before 2020 OR he
paid 5% of the system cost in 2019, he would still qualify for the 30% tax
credit he was promised. I have attached a copy of his Tax Addendum for
reference. Mr. does not have cause to cancel his contract. He will
need to pay the $1,215 termination fee if he would like to cancel his contract.
If not, we are happy to continue the installation of his system. Blue Raven
solar has fulfilled all obligations under the contract and stand by their work
and employees.

Sincerley,

Maddie E.

I am rejecting this response because: They are a horrendous company and this proves why I would never do business with them. Losing $1200 is better than risking the whole $20,000 anytime. I assume that I'll have to pay the fee since the Revdex.com is of no value if the company doesn't own up to the mistakes of their employees. I expect that they will soon be at risk of going out of or restructuring their business whether they take my money or not so they are in this get whatever we can mode. I got this word onto the site and will do my best to inform other customers to avoid them on every consumer information site I can find. I will feel vindicated when they actually chapter out and I find that I didn't lose the whole investment.

Blue Raven Solar Response • Jun 03, 2020

In response to Mr.’s claim:Blue Raven has fulfilled all obligations and
responsibilities under it’s contract with Mr.. We have forwarded his
feedback to our team in order to avoid communication mishaps in the future. The
bottom line is that he signed a contract and then stopped responding to Blue
Raven. We had designed his system, applied and were working on permits and
necessary 3rd party approvals. This was a legally binding contract
and Blue Raven Solar works as quickly as possible to get customer systems up
and running. However, there are outside factors such as municipal permitting
and inspections and Homeowners Associations which can hold up the process. If
Mr. would like to cancel his agreement with Blue Raven Solar, he will
need to pay the $1200 cancellation fee. This $1200 fee helps us to recoup costs
that have already been expended by Blue Raven on behalf of Mr. and his
contracted Solar PV system. We stand by our employees and the work that Blue
Raven has done thus far.Sincerely,Maddie EBRS

We are beyond frustrated with Blue Raven Solar. The sale and install went great. I asked both the salesman and the install crew what would happen if we get the roof replaced. They both said - no problem, just give us a call and we'll take them down and reinstall. No mention that this is a ~5K charge. We found that out when we called to schedule. We paid the required deposit and set a date for the panels to be removed. Day before they are scheduled - no call to confirm. Day they are scheduled, no call, no show. We had to finally call them at 1:00pm to ask where they were, only to be told, Oh, sorry, they are held up and now we can't come out for another TEN days. My roof is scheduled to be replaced on Monday, the shingles are in my driveway. They do not care. I only hear meager excuses, not even the courtesy of a phone call. Ridiculous.
Do not use Blue Raven. You will be equally disappointed.

I was approached by a salesperson from Solenrgi, representing Blue Raven Solar for the installation of solar panels on 10/10/19. Per the proposal the installation was intended to be scheduled in 2019 to secure the 2019 Federal Investment Credit (30%). However, Blue Raven Solar continually failed to stick to the timeline laid out in the proposal which contributed to the delay of installation in to 2020. This includes a three week delay to obtain a roof inspection due to two scheduled inspections that resulted in the inspectors not showing up, at which time I requested a cancellation of the contact since it was clear that the timeline could not be completed in 2019 as stated. Following my cancellation the salesperson showed up at my house unannounced to guarantee that I would not be financially impacted by the schedule delays and if the schedule slipped into 2020 that I would receive the necessary paperwork or compensation to make up for the reduced Federal Investment Tax credit. I reluctantly agreed to continue with installation with this reassurance that I would not be negatively affected. My installation was then delayed by 3 weeks due to the Blue Raven's HOA department having a lack of attention to detail and misspelling the email address of HOA. This could have been identified by Blue Raven if their HOA department had followed up with a phone call to the HOA when a response was not received. However, I had to engage the HOA to identify and resolve the issue. When I discussed this delay with Blue Raven and Solenrgi, I was again reassured that I would not be financially impacted by this delay. Upon Blue Raven receiving the necessary approvals from the HOA, they decided to delay submitting the permit application to the City until the following week causing an additional week delay. I continually checked in during December and January and each time was assured that I would receive the full Federal Investment credit or equivalent compensation, at no point was I offered the option to put a down payment to secure the 2019 Federal Investment credit, which would have completely alleviated this situation. The installation of my solar panels occurred at the end of February. Therefore, if Blue Raven had not actively made decisions that lead to 7 weeks of unnecessary delays on this projects it is realistic that this project would have finished in 2019 as agreed. I have had several conversations with the sales representatives at Solenrgi as well as directly with Blue Raven to resolve the financial impact that I have face due to their inadequate business processes and fraudulent assurances. However, neither company has the desire to resolve this issue and I am sure there are many more customers that have fallen victim to the misleading behaviors and unethical business practices of these two companies.

Blue Raven Solar Response • May 15, 2020

Mrs.’s installation proposal clearly states that the timeline is an estimate and may be delayed due to factors out of Blue Raven Solar’s control. This document, which she signed, is attached. Blue Raven fulfilled all obligations by providing a state-of-the-art solar system for her home. The delays in which she is referring to were all out of Blue Raven Solar’s control. These “factors” are what led to the delays in which Mrs. is referring to.
First, there were two instances where the city inspector no-showed to Mrs.’s home. Blue Raven cannot be held responsible for these delays as we are at the mercy of the city for all required inspections. As far as Mrs. requesting a cancellation, she was legally not allowed to. I have attached her signed cancellation policy which states she only has three days after signing to cancel. At the time of the roof inspection, she was outside of this three-day window. The next series of delays was from her neighborhood HOA. Blue Raven Solar works closely with HOA’s to ensure that all guidelines are met when installing a solar system. We cannot be held responsible for the delays that were caused by her HOA. When she was “assured” there would be no financial impact on her, this was correct. I have attached her signed tax credit policy which stats, “If by December 1, 2019, your System has not been scheduled for installation on a date before the end of the year, you can ensure 2019 ITC participation by making advance payment to Company toward the cost of the System in an amount equal to 5% or more of the cost of your System. Advance payments should be received by Company no later than December 27, 2019 to ensure timely processing." She claims she had no idea she needed to pay the 5% but it is explicitly stated in her contract. Blue Raven Solar cannot be held responsible for Mrs. not reading the contract that she signed.
Blue Raven Solar has fulfilled all obligations both financially and in regard to the solar system. We will not be compensating Mrs. the 4% tax credit difference from 2019 to 2020 as she signed a contract which explained the tax credit requirements for 2019.

Respectfully,
Maddie E

Blue Raven Solar Response • May 22, 2020

Regarding Mrs.’s claims:

The entirety of Mrs.’s response is false and not based on the
actuality of designing and installing a solar system. We would like to point
out that her system is producing very well and Blue Raven has and continues to
fulfill all obligations and agreements as stated in the contract that Mrs.
signed. Her claim that we use “fraudulent” business practices is merely slander
and based on her perception, not the facts of her system and contract. As far as the “7 weeks” of delays she is referring to, these were
in fact out of Blue Raven’s control. First, the site survey was initially
scheduled for 10/31/2019, this was cancelled because our team had their service
vehicle break down. We rescheduled her site survey for 11/4/2019 and our site
surveyor was ill that day. At this point Mrs. requested a cancellation on
11/4/2019 and we sent the paperwork to her. She then decided not to cancel
her contract on 11/7/2019. This was a 3-day window and she did
not cancel her contract at this point, so after 11/7/2019, she was
legally unable to cancel her contract. The site survey was scheduled for
11/12/2019, which did occur. This comes to a total of 8 days in which she
waited for a site survey (10/31/2019-11/4/2019 & 11/7/2019-11/12/2019), not
3 weeks as she has stated. Concerning the delays from her HOA, Blue Raven Solar
submitted permit paperwork to them on 12/11/2019 and this was approved by her
HOA on 12/12/2019. We are not sure where this “3 weeks” is coming from as her
sale was completed on 11/26/2019. It took 14 days from her sale to her HOA
approval, and this was over the Thanksgiving weekend. The permitting delays
were a result of the city. We are at their mercy when requesting permits and
cannot be held accountable for those delays. This
totals 17 days where Blue Raven was in control of Mrs.’s timeline,
not “7 weeks”. This 17-day period is well within the timeline Mrs. agreed
to in her signed contract. Regarding the 4% tax credit in compensation she has
requested, Mrs. admitted in her response to not reading this portion of
her contract. Blue Raven Solar gave her all the information and cannot be held
responsible for her not reading a legally binding contract in which she signed. Blue Raven Solar has fulfilled all obligations both financially and
regarding her solar system. We will not be compensating Mrs. the 4% tax
credit difference from 2019 to 2020 as she signed a contract which explained
the tax credit requirements for 2019.

Customer Response • May 27, 2020

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I am not sure why Blue Raven
believes that my response is false when I have provided very concise detail
regarding this issue. The contract was
signed on 10/23/2019 and the roof inspection was not able to be completed by
Blue Raven for 20 days. Blue Raven can
argue about how they don’t feel accountable for their employee’s actions as
documented below. However, the fact is representatives of Blue Raven made
commitments that I was not financially impacted by delays and the company did
make good on those commitments. To clarify the initial site
survey was scheduled for 10/28/2019, not 10/31/2019 as Blue Raven indicated in
their response. Whereas, I agree that
Blue Raven cannot predict that their team member would have a flat tire, I do
expect Blue Raven to have a better customer response than to wait over 24 hours
to give me a call to reschedule the survey an entire 7 days later (11/4/2019). I also expect that if a team
member calls in sick that a phone call would be made prior to the appointment
to cancel but that is not what happened on 11/4/2019. Instead I waited for my schedule appointment
and had to call Blue Raven to be informed that no one was going to bother to
show up to perform the survey. As such,
I cancelled the contract on 11/4/2019 due to Blue Raven’s inability get their
team members to do their job as any sane customer would, given the emerging
pattern of incompetence. I received an email stating that my contract with Blue
Raven was terminated as requested. However, on the evening of 11/7/2019,
Blue Raven’s sales representative, Terry C, showed up unannounced at my
residence to coerced me to continue the project by making a verbal commitment
that I would not be financially impacted by the delays to the project. Blue Raven’s records will indicate that Terry
C***, in fact initiated the call to Blue Raven to reschedule the site
survey. Blue Raven is correct on the
evening of 11/12/2019 one of their team members finally decided to show up late
to do the site survey. Per the
previously stated verbiage in the contract, I once again had a 3 day
opportunity to cancel following the site survey without penalty which I would
have done if I believed that Blue Raven would not make good on the verbal
commitments of their sales representative.Blue Raven continues to deny
that the delays in getting HOA approval was due to inadequacies in their
staff. However, on 11/19/2019 Kayah
S***, of Blue Raven’s HOA department, made a typo in the email address of my
HOA as a result the HOA never received the documents. Additionally, she never followed-up directly
with the HOA, instead on 12/4/2019 she sent the same email to the same incorrect
address. She committed to following up with the HOA by phone on 12/5/2019. I did not hear a response by 12/6/2019, so I
contacted Blue Raven and Courtney Wyson requested that I call the HOA myself
which I did immediately. The HOA indicated that they never received either of
the two previous requests from Blue Raven, which I later identified was because
of the typo that Blue Raven had induced into the email address. However, the HOA approved the request on
12/10/2019. Therefore, the 18 days lost in between 11/19/2019 and 12/6/2019
were direct delay due to Blue Raven.Once Blue Raven received the
HOA approval on 12/10/2019, they had everything they needed to submit the
permitting paperwork to the city. However, I was informed that Blue Raven would not be delivering the
permit to the city until 12/18/19 (8 days later). I questioned this lack of urgency with the
Blue Raven representative that called me and was told I would need to discuss
the issue further with Terry C. I
had a very lively phone conversation with Terry C regarding this issue
and he once again made a verbal commitment that I would still qualify for the
2019 tax incentive. The city took longer than
expected to process the permitting paperwork but I am not sure what Blue Raven
expected when they chose to submit paperwork 13 days before the end of the year
when any competent business knows there will be delays during the holiday
season.

As previously stated these are not the only issues Blue Raven employees caused during this project just the issues that directly related to delays in 2019. Blue Raven needs to be
responsible for understanding how their business operates and ensuring that
their representatives do not make commitment that the company does not intend
to follow through on. Based on Blue
Raven’s response it sounds like the company is confirming that the word of
their representatives cannot be trusted and that the company does not make the
best interest of their customers a priority. That being said, I am not sure why Blue Raven chose to continue a
project with a terminated contract if the words of their representatives cannot
be trusted.

Sincerely

We have had multiple issues with this company since we signed up with them. The latest issue is that our utility bills have been extremely high for a house that has solar panels that is supposed to cover 91% of our electricity usage. When we downloaded the usage spreadsheet for the last year's usage from our power company it showed that our solar panel system had produced just 6,337 kWh. When we signed up with Blue Raven the estimated solar panel production was 12,886 kWh. I contacted Blue Raven to inquire about the difference in actual production versus estimated I was told that the panels were not working for 6 months. I was told when we signed up that the panels have a 25 year warranty and that the panels would be monitored for production. Blue Raven informed me that the production guarantee only covers the first 24 months. They don't have any reason why the panels didn't work and will not be checking to see why. They told me it is up to us to monitor them to make sure they are working.

Blue Raven Solar Response • Apr 29, 2020

After looking through all of Mrs.’s account notes,
there are no other issues regarding her Blue Raven Solar experience. The first
“issue” we are hearing of is this one, filed 2 years and 10 months after a
successful installation and energization of her system. Her system produced at
88% for the first 24 months which is within the estimate Blue Raven Solar
promised and committed to in Mrs.’s signed installation agreement. The
reason her utility bills are “extremely high” is the system was offline from
September 18, 2019 through April 1, 2020. As Mrs.’s system was
energized on June 9, 2017, the production guarantee of 24 months is past. When
she signed her installation agreement, she acknowledged that the homeowner is
responsible for their system and that, as a courtesy, Blue Raven would monitor
the production for 18 months. Since her system went down on September 18, 2019,
the time her system was offline is outside the production guarantee. We will
not be compensating her power usage. Mrs. informed us, as is her
responsibility, about the lack of production on April 12, 2020. Since her
system was back online starting April 2, 2020, we are unable to diagnose what caused
the panels to go offline. Her system is producing great currently. The
production for April 2020 is on track to reach 90%. Blue Raven Solar has
performed all its obligations and duties under its agreement. We stand by our
work and encourage Mrs. to monitor her system more closely.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I was not submitting a formal complaint regarding the other issues and only brought them up because Blue Raven did not have any record of them and brought up the other issues in their response.

We have a high electric bill, not because we are using so much more electricity than we were when they did the original estimate but because the solar panels were not working for 6 months. This is the original problem that we have been trying to get help with. Blue Raven has offered no support as to why the panels were not working for half of the year.

Sincerely

Blue Raven Solar Response • May 13, 2020

In response to ***’s claim:Blue Raven Solar has fulfilled all obligations under their contract
with Mrs.. She did not alert us that her system was not producing (as
is her responsibility under her signed contract) until after the system was
back online. So, there is no possible way for Blue Raven to diagnose what
happened during those 6 months. We have offered all the support we can to Mrs.
*** and her system is currently working well. It is her responsibility to
monitor her system production, she agreed to this when she entered into a
signed agreement with Blue Raven. We have done our best to help Mrs.
but there is no further action we can take at this time. Blue Raven Solar
provided a state of the art solar system which is performing within the
contract guidelines Mrs. agreed to. Respectfully,Maddie E.Blue Raven Solar

I was shocked just now to discover they still have door to door salespeople going around during the statewide shelter in place order. I don't care if their salesperson did stand 10 feet back from the door. How dare they come to my house in the middle of a worldwide pandemic!!?! Door to door sales is the exact opposite of an essential service.

Hi Catherine, Blue Raven Solar is considered an essential business in North Carolina as we work with local utility companies to lower utility costs and provide clean energy. Our sales reps are following all recommendations including wearing protective gear and masks. If you would like more information on how we are working to put our customers and employees health first, please visit blueravensolar.com/covid. Regards, Blue Raven Solar

Installation in Dec. of 2019 was impressive...the crew knocked it out in 1 day and cleaned up as if they were never there. Here we are, 4 months later and I've gone from a 5 star to a barely 1 star review. (If things get fixed, I'll be more than happy to adjust the rating and review)
Since connection, we have been paying 2 power bills. Weren't we supposed to have such coverage that our power bill would be taken care of with the solar? That is FAR from the truth!

The circuit breaker keeps tripping. One of our panels is not registering and it's taken more than 3 tech calls and appointments and the job is still not fixed.
Let's talk about the tech...
Today was appt. # 4, for 3 pm. As with previous appts., we never got a confirmation communication to the appts. My husband called a half-hour before the last appt because he knew they'd be late and never call to let us know. Well, today, we didn't call. We thought we'd give them the benefit of the doubt. No arrival or call....so, I called at 3:30 to inquire about the status of the crew's arrival. They took our number and said they'd call back (like they said in previous appts.). ONE HOUR LATER, no call. So, I called again (now, it's 2 hrs. past the appt time.) and they said the same thing again, that they'd check and call us back, but I'd had enough and said I'd wait to hear from a manager about the status. Dalan (not sure if he's a manager, but he was one notch higher than the receptionist), apologized and didn't have any info about the crew and their absence, nor did he have an accurate depiction of our history with said issue. It ended up that he scheduled an appt for 7 days out. We are beyond ticked off with this company and its practices. We're 41K in and are being given the run-around. I've been paying Duke Energy for my power, when I should be paying a miniscule amount to them and solar should be the operating system for our home. The Utah headquarters has not laid our a successful Carolina connection. There is no system of checks and balances, accountability and communication re: tech aspect. I would NOT recommend Blue Raven Solar as a adept option for a Carolian today.

This business claims to have restricted travel for employees and given them protective gear during COVID-19. Two people just rang my door bell trying to solicit us with no gear and during a lock down order from the Governor of NC. They may be essential to their customers, but we are not their customers.

I really don’t even know where to start. This has been the absolute most painful experience that I have ever had to deal with, period! When I first encountered the Blue Raven Solar representative that came to my house in July 2019, he told me that system he was presenting me with would offset my usage at over 100%. The only costs owed to my electric company would be a standard connection fee that he said would be around $10 a month. During this time, I had only been living in my house for a month, so my power was calculated only over a month’s usage. After endless communication back and forth between the electric company and Blue Raven Solar, I have just finally been told that least 6 – 12 months worth of power usage is needed in order to accurately engineer an accurate solar panel system. Blue Raven set the expectation that the system they were installing on my home, but it has been so far from accurate its amazing how inaccurate that has been. Their focus was closing the deal, not taking care of its customers. The fact that Blue Raven allowed its representatives to sell a solar system to its customers after only a month or two of usage. It showed me that they absolutely do not care about their customers. After calling in to get this situation resolved I have been informed that the representative that came to my home is no longer working with the company and we can clearly see why. Blue Raven claims that its #1 value is developing a trust-worthy culture, and keeping its commitments to its homeowners but we can clearly see that is not true at all.
Once my system was installed I was told that before my system was powered on I would have to get an inspection on my roof. I took off work for the inspection and blue raven failed. Blue Raven had to come back out and make corrections, I took off work again, and the inspection failed again! This happened three times! Those three days that I took off from work to be present at home, I lost my money for. I was promised that the process would only take 2 to 3 months, but it actually took 7 months before my system was energized. I was told that because of the delays Blue Raven would be covering the additional bill I had to pay due to their delay, but once again Blue Raven made another promise that they couldn’t keep.
I waited patiently. It took until January for my system to get powered on and my bill was not even close to what I was promised. I spoke to the customer service, they said that since I agreed to the system and it produced the kw usage on the contract, there was pretty much nothing I can do about it and I should inspect to receive a big bill from my electric company and a bill from Blue Raven. The electric company expressed to me that the solar system that was installed will never have the capability of producing enough power to offset my usage. I attempted to resolve the issue without negative reviews but every single time I expressed my concerns, I was always told that it would get handled, and they would get back with me, but I never received a call. Be cautious when dealing with Blue Raven.

Blue Raven Solar Response • Apr 24, 2020

In response to Mr.’s Claim;

Residential photovoltaic (solar) is a complicated, multi-step
process, including initial site inspection, design and engineering, HOA
approval, if necessary, municipal approval, utility approval, equipment and
materials procurement, construction, final municipal inspection and approval,
and final utility inspection and approval. Many of these steps cannot proceed
until prior steps have been completed. On average, the time it takes from a
customer signing with us and the solar system being energized is four months.
However, some projects take six months or more to complete depending on the
local and utility permitting and inspection process and the size and type of
the system being installed. On July 8, 2019, Mr. contracted with BRS Field Ops
LLC doing business as Blue Raven Solar for the “design, engineering,
procurement, construction and commissioning of a rooftop mounted solar
photovoltaic system” at his residence on condition of his final acceptance of
Blue Raven Solar’s proposed system design. The agreement Mr. signed
expressly states that it contains the complete understanding of the parties and
supersedes any prior oral or written promise, condition, or representation.
System size and estimated production was not something Blue Raven Solar hid
from Mr..Since Mr.’s system was energized on October 13, 2019,
it has produced 3,850 kWh. The estimate for his system over the same time
period was 3,830 kWh meaning his system is producing at 101%. This is extremely
accurate and refutes the claim that it has been “so far from accurate its
amazing how inaccurate that has been”. There is no record of Mr.’s concerns about creating a system based on a
few months of energy usage. We record our introduction calls and none of the
concerns he is claiming were brought up. In fact, Mr. acknowledged on
that call the substantive terms of the agreement and confirmed that nothing his
sales representative promised him was not also in writing in the agreement.
Further, he acknowledged that his system was designed and engineered based on
the assumption that he would consume the same amount of power as evidenced by
his utility bill history. In the installation agreement signed by Mr.,
we estimated that the system would produce 7,607 kWh in the first year. His
system was designed and engineered in good faith by licensed experts to meet
his energy needs based on the best information available. As it has been 7
months and the system has produced 3,830 kWh, he is on track to produce the
7,607 kWh by October 2020. Blue Raven Solar has fulfilled our end of the
contract by providing a system that is producing the kWh Mr. agreed
to. In regard to the inspection process, Mr.’s system did fail inspection
several times. The first was due to a wiring issue which our technicians came
out to fix 2 days later. The second inspection failed because the inspector did
not show. This was obviously a delay, but Blue Raven Solar cannot be held
responsible for the city inspector not showing up to an appointment that was
scheduled. The third inspection failed due to a conductor connector from the
roof box needing to be re-installed. It took 15 days for his inspection process
as it began on October 22, 2019 and passed on November 6, 2019. In the
installation agreement for Mr., there is an estimated timeline for how
long each step of the solar system installation process will take. It states
that the install, final inspection and interconnection will take approximately
6 weeks but is subject to inspections processes. For Mr., the system
was installed on October 12, 2019 and finalized on December 30, 2019, but the
system started producing on October 13, 2019. He never lost any energy
production due to the failed inspection and agreed to the estimated timeline
with the possibility for delays in the inspections process. Blue Raven Solar has performed all its obligations and duties under its
agreement with Mr.. While we have no control over things like the
weather, utility rate increases, customer energy consumption, manufacturer
defects, environmental interference, or an inspector not showing up for the
inspection, we stand by our work and that the system will produce as expected.
Mr.’s system did not take seven months to energize. The final design
for his system was signed on July 17, 2019. The system began producing on
October 13, 2019, which is less than 3 months and in line with what he was
promised. Compensation was requested by Mr., but since the delay was 15
days for inspections, he did not qualify to receive a concession. The claim
that his system was not even close to what he was promised in January is not
true. In January 2020, his system produced 96% of estimate. His total
production is 101% which is above our production guarantee that Mr.
agreed to. We have attempted in good faith to resolve Mr.’s concerns. We first
became aware of his concerns on January 24, 2020. Since then, we have exhausted
significant resources and made numerous efforts to resolve the dispute to the
satisfaction of all. Several of our team members worked to ensure his
satisfaction with his system. While his claim was that his utility company said
that his system will never produce enough energy to cover his needs, as
previously stated, Mr.’s system was designed and engineered based on
his average household energy consumption at the point of sale as stated in his
available utility bills.

Respectfully, Maddie E.

In response to ***’s Claim,First, we ask that the Revdex.com review this and conclude to remove
this complaint. Blue Raven Solar has fulfilled all the obligations and
responsibilities under the contract that Mr. signed.Blue Raven Solar is not attempting to “cover themselves” at
the expense of the customer. All of the complaints that Mr. has brought
up were covered in the installation agreement he signed before we installed his
system. As far as “showing zero concern” for Mr., this is completely
false. We note all customer interactions via phone, email, etc. and have
conversed with him on numerous occasions in an attempt to resolve his concerns.
Each time he contacted us, we looked into his account to see if there were any
issues, but there are none. Mr.’s system has produced 102% of what Blue
Raven said it would. We estimated it would produce 4,080 MWh by the beginning
of May 2020 and the system has produced 4,180 MWh. In the installation
agreement Mr. signed, the system was estimated to produce 7,607 kWh in
the first year and is on track to do so (this portion of his install agreement
is attached)In reference to the 15 day delay due to failed inspections,
Blue Raven kept its contractual obligation to complete his installation. Mr.
***’s signed agreement states, “Customer acknowledges such timeline and the
timeline provided below is only an estimate that can vary significantly based
on factors". He is not “still being penalized” for this. As stated above
his system is producing excellent, at 102% of Blue Raven’s estimate. When Mr.
*** received his final design layout, he agreed to and signed it. There was
no concern brought up about his system being based on his past use. As far as
the representative promising the system would cover his usage, it has and
continues to cover based on the usage he provided. We can install additional
panels for his home based on the increase in energy usage. However, Blue Raven
will not be paying for these additional panels. We have provided a state of the
art solar system and fulfilled all contractual obligations to Mr.. We
stand by our work and refuse to change the terms of a legally binding agreement
simply because Mr. is using more energy and thinks we should pay for
it. Respectfully,Maddie E

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because I definitely got penalized for Blue Raven's mistakes. Each time Blue Raven had to show up to my house for the inspections to fail, I had to take off from work to be there which resulted in me not making any money on any of those days from my regular job. In response to your employees, every time I spoke with them they all said that there were notes documented from the last time I called. We can all agree that one month isn't enough, but yet I trusted your representative when he told me the proposed solution would bring my bill down to the $10. Since the solar reps are a reflection of your company, they shouldn't set any false solar or compensation expectations with any homeowners. I really do feel that I wasn't taken care of, and it was more about the sale and getting paid versus being realistic and upfront, which made me lose complete trust in Blue Raven. The only reasonable solution that I see is to have Blue Raven create an accurate proposal based on my actual usage, rather than a one month estimate right after I moved into my house. . I would be satisfied with blue raven adding additional panels to my home; waiving any additional installation costs.Once again, I never received any responses from your customer service via phone or email. The last thing I was instructed was to send my most recent months usage. I actually sent the bill of each month up to Marc to the following emails on March 31st.to:Dalila G cc:Blue Raven HOA ,Alayna Bria and yet I still didn't receive a response, just like the other times I was promised a response. Once again, I feel that Blue Raven does not care about its customers if they go 5 weeks without even sending a response after giving me instructions after my last phone call on the 31st of March.

Sincerely

BUYER BEWARE>>>>>> Normally I wouldn't come on here to leave a review if this company was just a cheap solution, with clever deception. But this company is downright evil and doesn't care about any of there customers.

Salesmen lie through there teeth and count on you not following up with the company. When I called this out with support, they said they have had issues in the past with salesmen and will be taking action on those salesmen.

Sure enough, several months later I get an email from the salesman who visited my house to sell me some solar 'at an extra discount'. So not only do the salesmen lie, but the company is also lying.

In addition, following up with the company regarding the actual solar panels they were going to install, I received three different make/models of solar panels, even after I was also told they were made in the US.

Blue Raven Solar Response • Apr 03, 2020

Hi there Rick,

We're obviously sorry that you chose to cancel your account! While that is your right to do so, I'd like to refute the assertions you made in your complaint. Our salesmen don't lie. That's not a sustainable business model, and it would have been impossible to gain the satisfaction and trust of over ten thousand happily installed customers with dishonest practices.

According to a call made on 2/27/2020, in which you decided to cancel your account, a support rep relayed the information that salesmen who have lied in the past are dealt with by our HR team. We do not discuss internal affairs publicly for obvious reasons. This support rep also made no promises to you about the salesman's future employment. Blue Raven has nothing to hide, and miscommunication between the customer and a sales rep which was then clarified by a support agent seems far from evil. In fact, it seems quite the opposite. Additionally, a support rep is far from qualified to make a statement on the continuing employment of anyone, including a sales representative. There is nothing in this sequence of events that could be construed as a lie.

The brand of the panels to be installed did, in fact, change. We are currently in the middle of a global supply chain meltdown, which began early this year. To avoid any disruption to our customers and where possible, we changed our plans to accommodate the customer. We were planning on installing Jinko brand panels on your home which, while not made in the US, SolarReviews.com describe as "world-class in terms of quality and price". Blue Raven has high and rigorous standards for the equipment we install.

Again, we're sorry to see you go. As a business, Blue Raven tries its best to be fair, upfront, and honest. Our track record proves that we accomplish this goal. We're sorry that some miscommunication brought your opinion of us so low.

Sincerely,
Evan H
