C & F Finance Company, Moore Loans, Inc., MAC, C&F Reviews (135)

Review: My vehicle was repossessed by C & F Finance on Nov. 19th. I called their office, Nov. 20th and began working with [redacted], Collections Supervisor. He informed me of the amount due to retrieve the vehicle and needed to get an update within 48 hours. In addition, the company needed documentation which was needed as well. I followed up on Friday Nov. 22nd, communicated my plan to get the funds and interest in retrieving the document. I called Nov. 26th, left messages, no callback. On Nov. 29th, I had the documentation and funds, called to confim amount. Left 3 messages, explained I wanted to get vehicle. No response. Finally on Dec. 2nd, after multiple calls, I reached [redacted], paid amount due and all paperwork completed. Time: 10:52AM. I called several times planning to get vehicle but no return call. Today, I was forwarded to someone else, left msg, finally [redacted] called back. The verification process was not completed, still unable to get the vehicle. At 1:40PM, [redacted] confirmed everything was done, provided # to get amount of storage and pickup the vehicle. I was told, wait 10 min. then call storage company. It is now 2:54PM, I have called the storage company twice, they have not heard anything from C&F finance and they close at 4PM today. The responsiveness of C&F is horrible and they provide conflicting information. I have 1 hour for C&F to "release" the vehicle and drive to the storage location which they will not tell me the location "until" C&F releases the vehicle.Desired Settlement: 1. I would like a breakdown of the fees paid to C&F on Dec. 2nd, 2013.

2. I would like to get my vehicle today, Dec. 3rd, all fees are paid, documentation verified, only waiting for C&F to "release" the vehicle.

3. C&F management needs to examine their communication to consumers because it is conflicting. I was told on Nov. 20th, to call the storage company to see what they charge to get the vehicle. When I called them, they indicated, C&F is the one who gives them the release and they cannot provide "any" information concerning storage fees. It appears, there is a connection between the storage company and C&F Finance.

Review: The customer service people are ALWAYS rude when I call them! I've been a dependable customer to these people. Today I called them to let them know in advanced that my payment will be a little late and I got a representative who was out right rude and ugly. I recently changed jobs and instead of being able to pay C&F on my due date which is October 26th, I let them know that I won't get paid til Nov 1st. I mean come on its just 5 days Late!! The representative was a [redacted] about it. Where do C&F find these customer service reps at? Its obvious you don't have to have great customer service skills to work for this company. Stop hiring hood rats and get better customer reps!

Business

Response:

[redacted], Collections Supervisor, contacted cutomer regarding her complaint. He was able to offer her a due date change so that we could accomodate her new employer pay schedule. [redacted] also spoke with the collection representative and coached on the professionalism and customer service expectations here at C&F Finance. [redacted] stated that the customer seemed ok with the resolution offered.

Sincerely,

Compliance Manager

I purchased a SUV in January 2014 with [redacted], financed with C & F. I wasn't until I was about to make my first payment in February of 2014 that I came across all of the terrible reviews this company has. So I figured I would give them the benefit of doubt. I made my first payment via check and sent a voided check to set up automated payments. Now $764.00 has been stolen from my account, 1 purchase from [redacted] for $464.00 and an automatic withdrawal for $300.79!!! I DID NOT authorized either. C&F are the only new company that I had recently dealt with and I strongly feel it is someone with their company. My bank informed me that the automated withdrawal had to have had my bank routing number and entire checking account number, which I had recently submitted to them. Now, I had to close my account, will probably have return checks and more to deal with!!!!! I plan on contacting the Revdex.com definitely!!!

All there represents are very rude and don't care about anything but there payment I would never recommended this for anyone

Review: I relocated to another state and C&F Finance is requiring a $75.00 fee to respond to the registration request sent by the state of [redacted] which is required by state law.Desired Settlement: No charge to comply with state law to register my vehicle.

Review: On November 13, 2013 around 5:00pm. I called C&F Finance Company to check on my balance of my car loan. A gentleman answer, he never gave a name. I gave him my info. So as we begin to talk about my account. he started in on me about how behind I am on my account. being very belligerent. He voice was getting in high rage tone. I was staying calm with this gentlemen. as he continued trying to talk over me. He was being very hateful.

I then asked him why are you raising your voice at me. Then I asked may I speak to his supervisor. The he hung up on me.

I found that to be very rude. No one should have to go through that with and company. That was uncalled for.

Business

Response:

[redacted], Collections Manager, has called the complainant and left a message for a return call. If [redacted] could please call [redacted] back at [redacted] ext. [redacted] and we would like to discuss and resolve this situation.

Compliance Manager

Review: On the evening of Thursday September 26th my vehicle was repossessed. On Friday September 27th I called the finance company and spoke with [redacted]. I asked her the reason my car was repossessed and she stated it was for non payment of September and late fees. I also asked why did I not receive a prior notice of repossession and she stated that the company did not have to provide that. I repeatedly told her that it was impossible for my debt to be in the rears for 1,297.31 since I was only behind for the current month and I was $60 short from August. I asked her to send me an itemized statement of charges and she stated that they couldn't do that. On that same day Friday I sent a money gram to C and F finance for the amount of 1,297.31 and payed the towing company an additional $100 for redemption and storage ($75 for redemption and $25 for storage). On Thursday, October 3rd, I received a Notice of Repossession that was postmarked September 30th, that stated " Because written notice of our intention to repossess was not sent to you, you are not required to pay any of the expenses of retaking or storage to redeem the property within the 15-day period, but you may be required to pay these charges if you redeem at a later time or if the property is sold". On Friday I called C and F Finance and spoke with [redacted] and asked her about a refund for the $100 that I payed to the towing company and asked her again for an itemized list of charges. She stated that she wasn't able to send an itemized statement and the notice that I received was not speaking about the charge for storage and redemption. The charge they were speaking of was for a $325 charge they could have added to my account for repossessing the car. During that same conversation I asked her again for the reason my car was repossessed and this time she said it was for $40.13 for July payment and for non payment of August and September. I am sure this company has made an error somewhere in their records. I am asking that they correct this error and refund my $100 as they stated in the notice that I didn't have to pay and credit my account for the 673.31 that was payed to them. I know I owed $624 but that is all.Desired Settlement: I would like an explanation of charges, refund of towing fee, and a billing adjustment

Business

Response:

I have done detailed due diligence to determine if amounts paid were correct. Upon further review, it is determined that the amount of $1,297.31 was the correct amount needed to bring the account current. The [redacted] has tried to contact the customer and left a message detailing the amounts. The [redacted] also spoke to the tow truck company, Final Notice, and they admitted that the $100 was charged in error and will refund the money to the customer. This was also conveyed on the voicemail left by the [redacted]. With regards to the account detail, I have looked into our notation system and I see that a detailed ledger of customers account was requested and mailed on the 4th of October. I would encourage the customer to please review the detail ledger and call to speak to a [redacted] who can help explain the amounts and how to get the refund for the towing fees.

Sincerely,

Review: Saturday 8/31/2013 I received a phone call from [redacted] I explain to her the reason for default my wages were being garnish from student loans and moving expenses. I simply requested a payment plan to help me to get back on track. I also informed her the reason for my move is to lower my expenses to help me stay on track with my car payment and I express how I have tried to refinance my vehicle to lower the interest rate as well.. [redacted] was very argumentative and disrespectful. She stated that because I previously did collections I should understands how it works. Also since my [redacted] was being garnish she doubts that I will be able to bring the loan current. So she stated that I should just bring my car to the [redacted] location today and park it. She also stated that I did not sound like I was concern. Was it due to me not crying or being upset on while on the line with her. After going back in forth I finally demanded that I speak with her manager. [redacted] spoke with me afterwards. He was very respectful and understanding. However I cannot ignore the poor customer service I received from [redacted]. I will do everything in my power to refinance my vehicle. I refuse to d business with a company that allows their managers to act in such manner. Word of mouth is the best advertising. I will let everyone know to not do business with C&F Finance..I have also filed a 2nd complaint with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Replacement Have my loan removed. Remve the debit. Change the status to debit paid in full.

Business

Response:

Our Sr. Collections Supervisor, [redacted], spoke with [redacted] regarding her concerns. He discussed the options that she had on her account and granted her an extension. [redacted] informed [redacted] that she was going to refinance her vehicle to obtain a lower interest rate. [redacted] was satisfied with her discussion with [redacted]. Management has spoken with [redacted] regarding the importance of customer relations.

Sincerely,

Compliance Manager-C&F Finance Company

Review: When my car payment is due C&F calls up to 3 times a day. Recently I replasced my transmission and spoke to them about the fact that I would be late- I am currently just less that 30 days late . I do talk to them when I can, answer thier call and return calls. The call me at home, on my cell, at my husbands business 3-5 times every day. I was just notifeid that they have started calling all of my reference contacts from the original loan- Including family friends and mu mother and harrasing them about this bill. It is ridiculous and harrassment.Desired Settlement: I wish they would stop thier harrasing telephone collection practices.

Business

Response:

[redacted],

Our policy at C&F Finance Company is to start contacting customers on the 1st day they are past due. From our records, I can see that several calls are being made per day but to different phone numbers that you have listed on the account and not 3-5 times per number. Another factor for the urgency and importance of the phone calls and to speak to you is that your account is in a Repossession Redeemed status. What this means is that your vehicle was repossessed previously and you were able to redeem. C&F Finance Company follows the [redacted] and has no intentions of harassing or abusing customers. Please bring your account current and the phone calls will stop. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact [redacted] or [redacted], Collections Managers.

Review: I have been recieving calls and work emails on my job from C&F Finance Co,my job has a no call policy of creditors calling harrassing me on the job, I can be written up under the standards of conduct at my job. I called C&F Finance Co, they said that I hadn't made my September, 16, 2013 payment, which I did make, I have my reciept. They than proceeded to say that I owe the [redacted], my car payment is [redacted] a month, I was told because in the past I sent [redacted], and not the 77 cent, they have charged me a $[redacted] dollars fee which they say added up tp $[redacted], but they accepted the [redacted]. They have made threats which I do not do scare tacktes. They say these charges was for august of 2011 and we are in what year now 2013.I adviced them that no letter was sent stating this issues I was told by C&F Finance that they do have to send me a letter, but if you finance my car than a letter should have been sent.Desired Settlement: I am in the process of getting a lawyer to handle this situation of being harrassed at work and through my workplace email.

Business

Response:

C&F Finance's Collections Supervisor [redacted] contacted our customer in regards to her concerns. [redacted] was able to explain what occured on the account and made some adjustments to mitigate the problems. The customer stated she was very satisified with the conversation with [redacted] and would keep his direct extension if needed further.

In regards to the harrassing calls, the employee has been disciplined and will undergo further [redacted] training to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. There will be no further calls to the customers work number or e-mails to the work address.

Sincerely,

[redacted] - Compliance Manager

Customer service is horrible. They are rude and unwilling to work with clients re: payments. Most finance companies work with their clients.

Review: This company has the absolute worst Customer Service. My payment was due on 3/20/16. I sent it in the mail on 3/18/16 since that is the day I got paid. I chose to send it by mail since the fee to pay over the phone is $15 and $13 to pay through [redacted] It usually takes a few days to get there so I knew it would be maybe one or two days late. I tried calling to let someone know it would be a little late but never could get through. They called me on 3/26/16 and let me know they have not received it yet. I let them know when I sent it and that there may be a problem since it has not arrived yet. Who ever I spoke to, and I did not get a name, was completely rude. She said there is no grace period and since they have not received it yet that they have already sent it to collections, which is absolutely ridiculous. She did not want to hear anything I had to say. I let her know I would cancel the check and pay by [redacted] She said she will note my account and wait until Monday to see if shows up.Desired Settlement: I would like this taken out of collections. After explaining my situation and never being this late before, I feel as if it should not be on my credit report as late after only 6 days. If they do receive the check on Monday 3/28/16, they should more than likely see that it was post marked on time. If they do not receive the check in the mail by Monday, I will pay by [redacted] right away. I also believe they should have more professional Customer Service.

Business

Response:

C&F Finance Company management has reviewed the account notes and recorded calls relating to this complaint. The Collection Representative the complainant spoke to was correct in saying that there is no Grace Period and installments are expected to be received by the due date. Unfortunately, any account that is 1 day late is placed into our Collections Department for follow-up to contact customers. This is standard business practice. The account will not be reported to the Credit Bureaus until it is over 30 days late so there should be no concern for credit reporting. If the complainant has any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact [redacted] or [redacted] (Collections Management) at [redacted]

Review: I have made several attempts to contact this company to make an arrangement on my payments. I have made contact with them via phone and left voicemails,I have sent several emails, and I have even resorted to writing letters. I am only one month behind on payments but I make one full payment on time each month. I am trying to make an arrangement for the one payment that is behind. Nobody will return any of my communication attempts. I have never received a reply to ANY of my emails. I have yet to receive a call back to the voicemail that I left for [redacted] in collections. I am extremely dissatisfied with their lack of customer service.Desired Settlement: I wish for C&F to move the one late months payment to the end of my lease term. I have been capable of making one payment each month on time and in full but I am not going to be able to make any double payments. I wish someone from C&F to please return communication to me to let me know that this arrangment has been made.

Business

Response:

C&F Finance Co. Management has spoken to [redacted] in regards to the complaint. C&F Finance Co. has processed an extension as per her request. [redacted] is satisfied with this outcome. When speaking to [redacted] about not returning calls, she admitted that she has several missed calls on her cell phone from C&F Finance Co. trying to contact [redacted] agreed to forward e-mails to the Collections Manager so that C&F Finance Co. can investigate the whereabouts of the e-mails.

Review: I bought a car that was financed thru C&F, after 3 months it was repossed. During this 3 month period I never rec'd anyacct information from this company! I rec'd many phone calls asking for my debit card info, was never given a acct #. I refused to give any info thru the phone without a written documented acct #. When I asked for this, normally I was hung up on. Now this company wants to sue me, for $12,000. If this company would have provided me with the info I needed to make me sure my money would be paying MY bill and not someone elses or making me a victim of identity theft, none of this would have happened.Desired Settlement: I feel if the company says they sent me this info and agrees that they did, but I keep saying "Ihave never received a single document" I would have sent it out certified mail, to be sure. This never happened. Also they sent a person to pick up the car that had the wrong kind of towing truck, this man was seen DRAGGING the car three blocks, then they used coat hangers on all doors and trunk to gain inside access. I am sure this would have caused damage, therefore making this car less valuable.,

On 9/02/13, [redacted] signed a RISC, Retail Installment Sales Contract, at [redacted]. The RISC is assigned to C&F Finance Company with phone [redacted].

On 09/10/13, [redacted] completed a telephone interview with C&F Finance Company’s loan processing department and verified that the address on the RISC was the accurate mailing address and that her first payment was due on 10/02/13.

On 09/17/13, C&F Finance Company sent a Welcome Letter and Coupons to [redacted] at the address on the RISC that [redacted] verified during the telephone interview.

On 10/04/13, collection efforts began when the first installment was 2 days past due. The notes indicate that the collector verified with [redacted] that we had the correct address on her account.

On 10/07/13 and again on 10/21/13, C&F Finance Company sent replacement coupons to [redacted] at the same address.

From 10/07/13 to 10/23/13 in each collection contact, [redacted] stated each time that we did have her correct mailing address and that she would not make a payment until she received a coupon book and she had not received anything from us in the mail.

On 11/05/13, C&F Finance Company received another application from [redacted] for credit in [redacted]’s name and another party. The application received listed the collateral ([redacted]) securing [redacted] open RISC as one of the trade in vehicles. C&F Finance Company declined this application and mailed [redacted] an Adverse Action letter on 11/21/13. The

dealership confirmed with [redacted] that C&F Finance Company was the finance company that financed her loan and where payments needed to be made.

On 12/27/13, C&F Finance Company sent [redacted] a required Notice of Our Plan to Sell Property and on 02/11/14 C&F Finance Company sent [redacted] a required Deficiency Explanation notice both to the same address.

C&F Finance made every effort to communicate with the customer and always mailed documents to [redacted]’s address of record. [redacted] did not make any installment payments on her RISC.

Regards,

MY FIRST COMPLAINT IS..IF I TOLD YOU FOR MONTHS I DID NOT REC anything FROM YOU IN THE MAIL WHY NOT EMAIL? WHY NOT CERTIFIED MAIL? also I NEVER FILED FOR A NEW CREDIT THRU YOU, MY FIANCE DID AND THE DEALERSHIP USED THIS INFO, BUT I DID NOT GIVE THEM MY OKAY!!!!!!!!! PLEASE CHECK YOUR FACTS THERE. THE COMAPNY NEVER AGREED WITH YOU AS TO WHERE I MAKE PAYMENTS, I HAD NO ACCT NUMBER!!! I WILL NOT EVER GIVE MY PERSONAL BANK INFO WITHOUT A ACCT NUMBER, MOST TIMES WHEN I SPOKE TO A COMPANY REPRENTIVE THEY WOULD HANG UP ON ME AS SOON AS I TOLD THEM MY NORMAL SPEECH " I WILL GLADLY MAKE A PAYMENT, AS SOON AS I GET MY ACCT NUMBER!!" ..............CLICK!

Review: I always pay my bill on time through their website which is horrendous as there is no customer login portal that keeps track of who you are, payment reciepts/records,amounts due or any type of information. I made my payment on time on June 14th. It is now June 21st and I called to see why the amount hasn't been debited from my account. They have no record of me paying in June at all. I had to make a payment today along with a $30 late fee. They didn't even offer to waive the late fee due to their website mishap since I technically made my payment on time. I have made over a years worth of payments and this is the first time there has been an issue. Apparently they don't care about their customers and rather just milk them for more money.Desired Settlement: refund of my late fee because I wasn't late.

Review: This company has purchased the contract for my car payment. The amount of the payment is the same, however they have added a $17.00 fee to pay electronic (on line) or over the phone. I've only been offered the option to use the Western Union service (which is also a fee) or mail in my payment to avoid any additional fees to submit my car payment. I was informed by a costumer representative that this additional fee was added because of third party reasons. The response is unexceptable and unfair to to me since I never paid this fee before C & F Finances purchased my contract. The amount of $17.00 is a very steep charge to consider for electronic or telephone usage. This method is a inconvenience to the way society is heading. The goal is to become paperless. I cannot afford this unexpected charge on a monthly basis. Now, I'm forced to use valuable time to purchase a money orders or check and envelopes to avoid this charge. Also, risk a late fee because of the mailing system.Desired Settlement: I would like the convenience to pay electronically or by phone and not pay additional fees. Since this fee was not part of my initial contract, I would also like to be reimbursed for the fees that I've paid in the past.

Regards,

This company is awful the representative Christian and his boss Stacy. I received multiple phone calls from these people and I asked could I pay my payment on a certain day and he was like no borrow the money you need to make a payment today maybe we made a mistake loaning you the money I told him that he didn't loan me anything I told him that he was rude and that I wanted to speak to the supervisor. The crazy part is I spoke to a representative a few days prior to speaking to him and they agreed to take my payment on March 4th and he came back demanding a payment today. The supervisor was rude she told me that I lied. she told me to find another finance company they are horrible this place needs to be shut down. I want them to pull my phone records.

Review: My vehicle was paid off this month (January)..my final payment was to be $250...I paid $378 because of late charges..today I receive a phone stating that I owe over $400 in late fees...I have always paid more than the monthly payment plus late fees. They won't release my vehicle title til I pay the $400? I have always paid the late fees...plus when I sent in the final $378 payment why didn't they tell me then I owed more fees? They keep wanting more and more money or they won't give me my title.Desired Settlement: I want my vehicle title...I should not owe them more money cause I have always paid the late fees.

C&F Finance's [redacted], has called and left several voice messages for you to return his call so he can explain your account balance. I will try to summarize but if you are still confused please call [redacted] at [redacted] extension [redacted]. Throughout the life of your loan you have had 54 Late Charges accessed at $16.03 each, as stated in your contract, and was over 30 days past due 32 times. Since your payments did not cover the full installment amount, some of your payments were applied to interest and late charges. If you would like a detailed ledger of your account and payment history, please call [redacted] at the number provided above. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your account so please give C&F Finance a call at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Review: I am writing because I am very upset with C&F Finance Company for calling my employer due to the fact that they were unable to reach me by phone. From my understanding they are not allowed to call my employer or any employer if they can't reach me. When I spoke to them they said they are allowed to call until I tell them not to call my employer. My previous finance company NEVER called my employer. I never gave them authorization or said don't they just didn't, so why does C&F Finance Company have the right to do that. They are jeopordizing my employment and my security clearance by them calling my employer. This is a matter between them and I not my employer, them and I. I don't appreciate the fact that they did that and I am very angry that they did. I need this reported and resolved ASAP. No one should have to go through this and get calls at their employers office just because they can't reach a person. That is why there is voicemail and email that they can send notices too and not call the employer. This needs to be reported so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. This company is a big joke, they are rude and very unprofessional.Desired Settlement: No desire outcome except that they need to reevaluate how they contact individuals. They should reach an individual at home, cell phone or via email and NOT THROUGHT THE EMPLOYER. They need to be held responsible for their actions and change their policy. They have no right to do what they did.

Business

Response:

C&F Finance Company management has reviewed the complaint and performed an investigation. The Collections Department made several attempts to contact the customer using the cell phone number we have on file and with an e-mail. No return calls were made from those contacts. C&F Finance Company is allowed to contact customers at the work number provided in order to verify employment or to leave a message without disclosing the nature of the call. Management has reviewed the recording from 03/14/2016 and determined that no violations had occurred. The collector first asked if the customer was employed and was then asked by the HR person if there was a message that she could pass along in an e-mail. The collector only stated her name and the number that could be used to reach her. The customer called C&F Finance Company back on 03/15/2016 and requested to not be contacted at work going forward. The collector has removed the work number from the account and appropriately documented so no further calls will be made to the work number. If the customer has any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact [redacted], Collections Manager, at [redacted]

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

I am not satisfied because they have no right to call my employer regardless if they can't ahold of me any other way. My previous company never did that so why would it gove them the right to do that. There's no reason for them to call my job.

Review: My car was taken for non-payment. When I attempted to retrieve my car and pay the amount on three separate occasions, 01/05/15, 01/23/15, 01/26/15, I was told the car was in Pennsylvania and was told four different amounts to retrieve the vehicle. On the 5th I was told by [redacted] in recovery, $1829. Then I received paper work stating $1429. I called on the 23rd and was given another price. Finally, on the 26th of January, I was told my car was sold and it would be $3000 to retrieve it when in documentation it states the vehicle would not be sold until the 28th of January and it was $1429 + storage fee. And how does one pay $3000 for property allegedy sold?

I am disputing the run around in my attempts to retrieve my property. That's unfair business practices in my opinion. I checked C&F Finance website and my experience has been happening to customers for quite some time.Desired Settlement: I am interested in someone investigating the company's practices. I am not disgruntled nor emotional while making this request. I am concerned because these practices have a domino effect with credit worthiness, financial stability and trust.

All redemption information was sent to customer and the collector placed the account on a redemption hold until 01/12/15.On 01/12/2015, collector called customer and left message for returned call. No response from customer so normal repo actions were taken. On 01/21/2015, all ancillary products were cancelled and the vehicle was moved to auction. On 01/22/2015, collector spoke to customer regarding account. Management pulled the recorded call and verified that collector correctly stated the amounts due of $1,847.39. Customer requestedthat we hold vehicle from sale until 02/04/2015. The collector placed the customer on hold and went to obtain approval from management to hold car until the requested date. When the collectorreturned, the call had been disconnected. On 01/26/2015, the last contact with customer's mother took place. The collector explained to the mother the redemption process and was told that the funds would have to be received by 01/27/2015in order to stop the sale. No funds were received and the vehicle was sold as scheduled on January 28, 2015.In summary, C&F Finance Company did everything possible to assist the customer to redeem the account, but without communication from customer and funds to cure the account, C&F Finance proceeded with normal repossession actions. No violations of law or business practice were committed during the redemption process. ?
