Bought a ROKU. This company hacked into the installation and fradulently insisted that we needed to by a five year contract in orderto activate ROKU.
ROKU does not charge any activation fees. While installing ROKU, this company hacked into the installation, blocked the activation process, and fradulently presented themselves as ROKU and insisted that we buy a five year $100.00 contract to activate ROKU.

Desired Outcome

Want a refund on my credit card.

While attempting to set up my Roku. I had a very difficult time understanding the technician due to a language barrier but regardless of that I was told I had to pay 99.99 for lifetime of service which was their new policy saying it was new policy but upon research I realize I was scammed out of money from this company they should be reported and not be allowed to do business. when I asked why a fee I was told because now have channels that wasn't before.

Hi Team Revdex.com
We have registered the device of Mr. *** and we also activated his services for technical support. But as he was not happy with the services. So we initiated the refund of $76.64 on the same day. So the case has been closed.

While setting up my RoKu TV I was told that RoKu was no longer free and they were contracted by Roku to sell and service the customers. I was sold a lifetime membership as a total scam it had nothing to do with RoKu.

Scam
They convinced me that they was roku support and that needed to pay a one time fee for this service, I talked to Roku today and they informed me it's a scam, they do not charge for support service, I would like a refund of my money

Desired Outcome

I just want them to refund me my money back, $109.99

Customer Response • Feb 04, 2020

This company sent me my money back, thank you for your help

While setting up my Roku account I was persuaded to pay a lifetime technical service agreement for $149.99. After going to the Roku website I found out that there is no fee for technical support. Therefore, I was ripped off. I would hope someone would put this scam of a company out of business.

Caligeeks sold me unlimited access to Roku streaming services 24hrs later found out Roku is a free acess service not associated to caligeeks.
Caligeeks made me believe (phone conversation) that they were Roku and sold me unlimited access to all their products for 5 years. They also made me do an electronic signature stating that I would not seek reinburstment for my purchase. Caligeeks never informed me I was talking to them instead of Roku. They represented themselves as another business and they used my credit card and me for fraudulent purposes.
I try communicating with caligeeks via email with no results.
Transaction date 11/15/19, order #XXXXX, paid w/credit card.

Desired Outcome

Seeking refund as I was fraudulently used for profit.

Thank you so much for your response.
After two attempts with caligeeks I connected with a manager who after I explained my intents he agree to reinstate my subscription amount back to my credit card account.
Its concerning that such people now have part of my personal information but I agree with you that I should have been much more careful sharing such information.
Thank you so much for your efforts, I'm sure in some way all these efforts helped with the return of my funds.
This is all very much appreciated.

During the set up of a new smart TV I was scammed by a look alike fraudulent "company".
I wanted to upgrade my life by getting a smart TV. Well I'm dumber and poorer now! I'm not technologically inclined and when the activation code did not work I called the number provided. But shame on "Roku" brand for making a person start the set up process on the TV and then logging into another device via internet finish the setup. I must have been snagged by scammer at this point in the process. From there out my lovely sounding Roku associate "*** guided me and took my information. He works for the "Caligeeks Company" through Roku. My order number XXXXX on November 29 in the evening only cost me $213.99. So my Black Friday wonderful TV deal just got really really expensive. And now as Christmas approaches I guess we can watch more tv instead of opening more presents, hope my kids are ok with this. But as I was told with this lifetime activation fee I can now hook up to 10 devices on my account and can get technical help anytime from calling his specific number... which is...
XXX-XXX-XXXX. I know that I'm a trusting person and still very naive about this world even being in my 40's... but situations like this really hurt society. I pray that not many people fell for this scam and have lost money and hope. I will continue to contact the Caligeeks "Company" and seek a refund.

Desired Outcome

The charges I occurred for assistance in setting up a new tv system. $213.99

I was charged $ 105.99 to activate my free Roku service and warranty my streaming device.
When I started having issues with my Roku Streaming stick I called Caligeeks because the device was to cover under for 3 years under the $105.99 fee they charged me for my 3 Roku devices. They claimed they would repair or replace them if I had any issues for 3 years at the time of purchase. When I called today for service of the streaming stick they said it was only software support and they would not cover the actual device. Why would anyone pay $105.99 for software support when Roku services are free? Attached is a copy of my credit card statement proving my charges.

Desired Outcome

Caligeeks refuses to replace/repair my device

Customer Response • Dec 03, 2019

The issue was resolved . They gave me a full refund.

Thank you!

Made false representations they were Roku and Registration Fee required. Fabricated documents for my credit card company so my refund was reversed.
On July 27, 2019, I bought a new Roku stick. It would not activate. I called 844-441-8800, which I thought was Roku. The representative insisted she was a Roku employee and that Roku had started charging a Registration Fee. She also stated they were transferring accounts from an old server to a new server so I needed to give her my information. She represented that if you did not pay the Registration Fee, your Roku account would stop working. After the representative obtained all my information, she sent me a link for DocuSign which took me to a letter I was coerced into signing due to the threat of my Roku services being stopped. The letter came up Caligeeks. When I questioned her about who Caligeeks was, as I had never heard of them, she said they processed the payments for Roku. Roku does not charge a Registration Fee and these people completely misrepresented everything to me. Once I paid the "Registration Fee", my credit card company called alerting me to possible fraud. By then, it was too late. On July 29th, I disputed the charge with my credit card company. However, Caligeeks manufactured paperwork which made it look like I went on their website and purchased their software services package by entering my information in the different fields and entering my credit card information for payment. This, too, is also a fraudulent misrepresentation as I NEVER went on their website to fill out anything. This was all done by the representative on the phone unbeknownst to me. I had no idea she was entering my information as though I was purchasing a service from Caligeeks. On September 9th, I got a letter dated September 4th from my credit card company saying they were reversing my refund due to the paperwork Caligeeks provided (again, this paperwork was manufactured by them as I never filled it out). I began calling all the numbers I had for Caligeeks and was eventually given 855-302-7111 as the number to call for a refund. I was told I'd get a refund in 3 or 4 days. On the 13th, I called again as I had not received a refund. He stated I would get it in 1 or 2 days. I am not holding my breath as I feel this is just a delay tactic. On September 9th, I reasserted my claim with my credit card company, but I don't have much hope that my credit card company will change their decision as it is my word against Caligeeks. It is a shame the criminals get the benefit of the doubt. I could not locate an address on my paperwork for Caligeeks, but I selected this company as it has the same website address. I refuse to go on their website for fear they will be able to tell I went on and use that against me. I am attaching my letters that I sent to my credit card company with documentation attached in the field below.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund of my $106.99 that was fraudulent stolen from me. I wish legal action would be taken against this company so that they will quit defrauding innocent people. I wish someone would call the 844-441-8800 posing as a Roku customer on a non-business line with Roku issues and see that these people are defrauding people.

I finally received my refund after many phone calls to the numbers I had for Caligeeks. I had no help from my credit card company.

Company is a scam. I wouldn't use them. A total ripoff of your money
