Cord Moving & Storage Reviews (66)

The guys we had to do our move were friendly, hard working and we are appreciative of their help! We were able to move in less than hours I was sad to see that they had dented our dining room table with their straps by over tightening and scratched a few of our dining room chairs
Otherwise, it was an overall positive experience I would recommend them but ask for extra padding in the future!

We selected Cord Moving and Storage because of its year experience in the moving business and its A+ Revdex.com rating and mission statement citing its commitment to "...exceed customer expectations ...and measure of success will be through indicators of customer satisfaction"
YOUR "Cord Creed" is "service of our customers" by "working together (with customers)" and "respond to customer wants"
My company staff on moving day 6/30/found none of this the case
You cited "SPECIALIZED HANDLING" in your contract documents repeatedly reassuring my company:
WE PROTECT ...desktops etc
WE PROTECT ...large furniture pieces...by placing furniture pads etc
WE PROTECT ...floors etc
Nothing can be further than from the truth!
Your moving staff was rude, confrontational, and combative from the outset
Cord representatives initially REFUSED to pack and unpack/refile all patient files from lateral files and disassemble all shelving from the walls as per contract
Cord representatives stated they were unaware of this obligation and thus unwilling to perform these duties as per contract even after we informed them these duties were per contract and only did so and complied after minutes of a stand-off with my clinical manager Josh Felis who refused to back down and insisted Cord Moving & Storage perform the job as per contract it was hired to do
Cord movers did eventually pack files from lateral file cabinets then refiled these files once at the storage center but did so reluctantly and with "attitude" and insolenceJosh Felis and myself, Eric S Mann MD PhD also packed files while being berated by their comments as if we had asked them to do a job they perceived as not their responsibility yet it was as per contract as we explained to them over and over again
Cord Moving & Storage seemingly was unable to locate the new office address with more than a half a dozen times inquiring over and over again the street address and suite number in spite of having been told of the designated new address many weeks prior to the move Upon arrival at my new office location, Cord Moving representatives showed their little regard for their professional obligations and contractual duties or charge of moving my business with the integrity as outlined above in their mission statement but instead made apparent their goal and true intent to "get out of town" or finish the job as quickly as they could without regard to The Retina Group (TRG) property
The achieved their goal of finishing the move as quickly as possible without regard to the integrity of the property of my business by simply "dumping" heavy office furniture (e.goffice chairs, desks, ophthalmic equipment ) in the designated room without regard to the designated orientation of furniture, walls, flooring, or condition of property in the assigned roomThey used NO furniture pads, dropped heavy desks and expensive ophthalmic equipment off dollies doing damage to the wood floors (e.g.ruts in the wood floor) and to the ophthalmic equipment making it non-functional requiring repair
Cord Movers made clear their only priority or concern was to be done and get "out of town"
Many representatives of my company pleaded with Cord Moving & Storage representatives to reconsider their actions but TRG representatives requests for professionalism from Cord fell on deaf ears In fact, ALL management staff of TRG including John Ruff, IT manager, Sabrina Saebje billing manager and Josh Felis clinical manager reported to me Cord Moving representatives refused to "go more gently" on TRG equipment even after these same Cord Movers were informed the equipment was worth thousands of dollars
Remarkably, Cord moving representatives replied that they "refuse to move equipment that they admitted they randomly dumped in the assigned room without regard to its spatial orientation within the room (often blocking file cabinets drawers from opening and clearly being in no spatial orientation that was specifically requested as they delivered the item to the room) stating "once I put it down you need to call someone later next week to move it around in this roomI am done today"
In all, Cord representatives seemed to enjoy the authoritative control they wielded over my staff, not having the integrity, honor or will to do the job right even when being confronted "in real time" that is as they were doing it wrong to correct their errors
Moreover, my managers cited Cord representatives seemed indignant, as if WE had treated them unfairly by hiring them to move us as evidenced once again by the smirks and smugness, as they denied requests to rectify their errors in the way they simply "dumped" the company property and equipment in the room number marked on the item without regard to its integrity or its spatial orientation within the room

Main Issues:
- damages were due to negligence, not by situation where logical to apply customer paid insurance
- amounts applied by CORD are in some cases greatly devalued for the item
o custom, unique, or antique items cannot be valued against a mass-produced ready-made item
- CORD argument of following procedures in their valuation and claim review does not hold true when key procedures were not followed, e.gno paperwork to review delivery and ensure check off of items received and their condition, requesting erroneous signatures the following week without any respect to the process for review of inventoried items
o One cannot argue an expected procedure of reviewing delivery items when key component of the process was not held up by the provider
- correspondence timeline greatly drawn out
Household goods items were packed and stored by CORD Moving received excessive damage from negligence and poor care, not from accident or act of nature CORD has not taken responsibil

I hired Cord for a local move on July 29, Our agreement included an insurance policy for damaged property up to $50,(after a $deductible) A copy of this contract can be provided Unfortunately multiple damages sustained during the move We promptly filed a claim (in alignment with the company policy and procedure) A copy of the claims form and associated emails can be provided Damages claimed:
Queen Latex Mattress - (not properly wrapped/protected and drug across the ground) Surface dirt has been vacuumed off, but due to the poor handling there is no way to get it clean and we request that it be replaced At this point Cord has only offered $to have the mattress cleaned Claimed amount = $
Entertainment Center - All elevator bolt legs were damaged/broken and had to be repaired (Cord accepted this portion of the claim but did not provide a monetary value, rather they stated, "below deductible") Claimed amount $
Coffee table - sustained sign

July they arrived at 9am and I showed them around the homeThey began taking furniture to the truckI left the home to runt things to the new propertyThey had my outdoor lounge chains and they were sitting around smokingTwo in the lounge chairs ans the laying in the grass and they were smokingThey finished loading and at 12pm they got in the truck and leftThey were gone for an hour and minutesThey acted goofy they whole jobThe top rung was completely busted over and corner of my chair was busted offThey kept it stuck together so I could not see it until they were goneMy husband tipped them generouslyThere were so many issues, and I have found so many dings and deep grooves in my furnitureThe legs in most of my chairs and my Ethan Allen chairs have dents and dings all over themMy couch was a seam split and my oriental rug has seems and a tassel pulled offMy headboard posters and a corner of the wood is ruinedMy outdoor furniture is scratched all overT

I contracted with Cord Moving in May My sales rep was *** and she quoted me a moving cost of around $ The move occurred on 5/15/and the move took an extra hours and the movers charged me over $which was above the quoted price by *** The movers told me that she has consistently underbid moves I paid the movers the $plus dollars since I had no other recourse at the time I called *** numerous times and also spoke with her manager *** I was told by *** and *** that I would receive a refund of more than $which was for the - hours that had been underbid by *** I have not received the refund as of yet 7/21/and am tired of having to contact them and receiving a runaround and no results

I regret that Ms*** does not feel she has been adequately taken care of by our company
Ms***'s statement regarding the timeframe in which she signed the paperwork actually allowed her to think about and write the damage she sustained, the additional days actually worked in her favor
Ms*** stated she worked in the industry for years, she would then know that you cannot relocate your items without an inspection first
Cord Moving takes each claim, each incident as a learning tool. Ms*** has no idea what we do to improve our procedures or communication with our operations department. I take this as slander
Having moved 10+ times (the number is certainly overused)before, Ms*** should know what to do and not do (like moving items before they are inspected) in regards to a professional move and claim settlement

I came to Revdex.com to find a local mover, quite a few to choose from,I contacted three movers on Revdex.com list, Cord moving and Storage was one of them There representative came out and what a pleasant surprise, very nice, knowledgeable and very helpful in determining the best way to move our items I selected Cord, they sent out a crew any employer would be happy to call there employees Courteous, experienced and fast I highly recommend Cord

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/13) */
Cord Moving and Storage Company is in the process of adjusting Mr***'s claim
An inspection company has just submitted their report
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/10/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID
NOT accept the response from the business.)
The rationale why I state I don't accept the response; the company has stated I have to pay a $deductible for anything to transpire in terms of my furniture and property at my new home being repairedThis is unjust because I requested the company wrap my items prior to moving from my old residence in cloth/paddingIn addition, why am I paying a deductible also for them damaging my home when they moved my items?
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/10/22) */
Cord will address the damages first, one firm was sent to inspect, another is sent to repair the leatherWe will take it one step at a time to work with the customer

Cord moving and storage has not fixed or communicated the process of fixing our furniture that was damaged during their moving and storage processThey moved our home with two men over the age of who quite frankly couldn't lift the pieces safely and damaged the dining room pieces as well as many othersThe process was weeks (12/15/moving date) without any resolutionWithout any communication, Cord sends a check in mail as compensation for their poor moving service and damage to my furnitureThere has been zero communication from Cord regarding the next step in process to fix furniture and they have made zero attempts to contact me regarding my satisfactionOverall, the worst customer service experience for a very expensive processCord should treat customers much better

I am adding additional information for my claim against Cord Moving for the MULTIPLE scratches they madeI have spoken with the tenant whom they movedShe stated that they lied to her alsoShe sent me a picture to prove that there was not an area rug where the scratches areThe scratches are where the boxes are and where the tenant stated they were packing things up. Apparently, they did the packing with nothing to protect the flooringThey need to be held accountable for this. I will be contacting an Army representative or small claims court if Cord Moving refuses to take financial responsibility for the damage.Thank you for your help with this matter

A tenant moved out of my duplexCord Moving and Storage was hired by Army personnel to complete the moveThe living room floor was left with multiple, long scratches in front of the front entranceCord Moving sent someone to repair itThe repair person reported that it could not be repairedI was left with long unsightly scratches which was worse after the repair attemptI was asked to file a claim with Cord Moving and did so They offered me $for the damageI declined the offer My duplex is almost totally rehabbed inside and outIt has a new roof, siding, widows, shuttersexterior lights, new concrete patios in each unit, new privacy fence, completely redone kitchens with dishwashers, microwave, garbage disposals and ice makersThe flooring is new vinyl click togetherThe stairs have the current style of metal and wood banistersThe units are completely up to code.I collect $per side Multiple, huge scratches at the entrance to the unit is not in keeping with

They did an absolutely outstanding job...We asked for the same team: Alex ***, Darnell ***, Donte *** and Gary ***...that loaded us up to unload at the new house (the truck had to store our belongings for nights due to our house closing dates) I highly recommend this team and company..."

This is the second time I have used Cord to move I was very happy with the people at Cord and the driver, Josh, and his helper, Justin Everyone was courteous and helpfulI was kept informed about the arrival time of my items and all my items arrived in excellent condition

On May 24, 2016, Cord’s Certified Moving Consultant, *** *** provided an estimate for moving in the amount of $1, That $1,included transporting our hot tub from *** *** *** *** *** ** to our new residence located at *** *** *** *** *** ** On the day of our move, July 14th, the moving crew was unable to relocate the hot tub to our new residence
This lead to a conversation between *** ***, VP of Sales, and myself, which resulted in Mr*** coordinating the hot tub move on July 16th through *** *** *** * *** *** at a cost of $to myself That charge was processed on my credit card on July 15th with the expectation *** *** *** * *** *** would provide those services on July 16th Those services were not completed on July 16th and the earliest date to reschedule was July 19th, which was not an option because as of 4pm on July 14th, we were no longer the owners of the property at *** *** *** This required us to move the hot tub

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
- the statement indicating paperwork was not signed by me was due to the fact that they did not produce paperwork at the time of delivery, in hindsight it appears I should have refused delivery without them providing paperwork at the time of delivery- the fact that they did not provide paperwork at delivery voids any argument to standby regarding policies around paperwork- the move to Florida is irrelevant to the damages as they were documented, including photographs provided, long prior to my Florida move- regarding valuation of items, I completely understand valuing a product for it's replacement cost, this is what I am arguing they did not value at, I had already submitted values at appropriate costs related to repair, replacement, or current value of an item - having worked in the industry for years I am aware of basic procedures and expectations of customers when they hand responsibility of their property over to a moving provider- they have made no indication that they will take any actions to improve their procedures, as should be standard for any reputable business to perform a root cause analysis after any complaint and enact appropriate improvements derived therefrom- as it stands I feel they should be processing claims for missing values reaching over $1,000; as it seems they intend to make no effort in resolution I will take action to submit appropriate reviews to assist in other consumers avoiding using faulty services for their moves- having moved 10+ times prior (including cross-country) and never sustained such damages by any company or by moving with non-professional help, I have to stand by my intended review that they failed to provide satisfactory service meeting basic standards of expectation in handling goods with common sense, let alone the expected expertise they would have as a long running organization
Sincerely,

Our family just moved to Illinois ( StLouis area) from Okinawa, JapanMy husband just ended his eight year career with the marine corps and with our shipment we got placed with Cord Moving CompanyThey were prompt with letting us know when our things made it in and quick to schedule the pack out, unfortunately that is the last good thing I have to sayThe two men they sent to unpack my things thought discussing politics was appropriate, even in a degrading way, while conducting businessFrom there when they went to unpack our things they were covered in moldWith their advice I declined all of my belongings and was told we would be contacted MondayWe have talked to a third party person the entire time since thenNot once has this company contacted us or responded to our many callsThey have my entire home in their posession and haven't even given us the courtesy of a phone call to let us know what is going on with our belongingsI will never use this company again and wouldn't suggest anyone else to ever use themI have never been so disappointed with a business in my life

I want you to know how thrilled we were with the professionalism of John our driver and his crew! We have moved about every three years for the last years and we must say this was one of our best moves!
Please let John and his hardworking crew how much we appreciated their work ethic and kindness and overall superior work they did

At Cord Moving and Storage Company we take all damage claims very seriouslyIncidents are investigated, work crews
questioned and all evidence looked at closelyDuring our review we found that neither our crews nor equipment entered Mr***'s yard while delivering to our client across from him
Moving to or from a new area creates much stress for families and also for their friends and neighborsIn the interest of maintaining the good relations of our client with their neighborhood and friends we paid Mr*** for his damage, although we could not determine exactly when his sprinkler head was damaged or who had driven through his yard
A check was issued on 9/5/and cleared our bank account on 9/11/14, the date we received this notice from the Revdex.com

To start I never leave bad reviews, but this is ridiculousOur first move was great minus the fact that they broke our rototiller, right in front of usThey were told how to correctly move the item but did not heed our instructionDue to our $deductible they will not correct the issue as the fix is On the second move (for items that remained at our home for staging) there was zero communication and the mover arrived with no help!! My husband had to actually help the mover so that the items (sofa sleeper etc) made it safely insideI have emailed the VP with zero response The salesman and secretary both have also ignored my emails Good customer service until you pay, then don’t hold your breath if you need something
