I was very happy with the whole process of having my roof replaced on house and garage and new gutters on 2 sides of the house. The organization and planning was excellent, from start to finish. I changed my mind about whether to include the porch roof, which was a more recent roof, in the job, and called up and got another estimate including that portion, without having another visit. I asked if my stove vent could be hooked up and this was included for what I thought was a resasonable amount, $80., and was given addresses to look at the different colors available 'on the roof', as well as the samples brought to my house with the estimate /offer visit. The house roof was done in one day and the garage roof the next good day weather wise; and care was taken not to leave shingles and nails etc. on the ground. I found just a few small staples --which I think is great, considering how much was done. The gutters were installed actually on Thanksgiving morning to work around the snow, and my schedule, and with an offer to return to adapt the downspout to accomadate a water barrel when I get one.
This is our second experience with Craftsmen and we would give them 100 stars if we could!

Everyone on the Craftsmen team is professional, super communicative and the NICEST group of people we’ve had the pleasure of doing business with. We actually miss them when they leave!
With the first window install I lost sleep worrying that the new window trim wouldn’t match our existing windows. Our windows have a special lacquer paint and Kim (window finisher) went above and beyond to make sure I would be happy. The day of install came, I was shown trim that was a perfect match and from that second forward I knew everything was going to turn out just fine. Kim is a master in her technique and also has the patience of a saint! The installers are ALL very polite, professional, and the house was left cleaner when they left than before they arrived. Our [redacted] windows look beautiful!
The roof replacement went just as smoothly and the roof was put on in less than two days. They also covered our windows with boards so that the roofing material wouldn’t scratch them (nice touch!) The job site was cleaned up meticulously before they left on each day. What really impressed me was that after working 12 hours in 90 degrees on a blazing hot roof the roof crew stayed a bit longer on a Friday night just to socialize with each other. I loved seeing the camaraderie between them both on and off the roof. I talked to a few of the guys and could tell that they were proud of their work and knew what they were doing. They did a phenomenal job!

There was an error made by the insurance adjuster where the replacement value was for materials of lesser quality than our existing. We never noticed it, but thankfully Jim and Erik did and worked with our insurance company to ensure that the replacement was equivalent to what we currently had on our home. Maria and Donna in the corporate office are on their toes and kept me advised of any changes.
Here’s the thing. With home improvements, you have one chance to get it right and pick the right team. If you want your job done in a timely manner, by people who actually know their craft and care about your project, Craftsmen is who you are looking for. A sales representative for CHI, Tim J, was here for the roof inspection and was available throughout the process. He helped me to understand the details required for our insurance and took care of applying with the city for the needed documents. When the roofing team arrived, they were careful to protect the flowers and landscaping around the edges of our home, covering them with tarps. The team was timely, quick, efficient and respectful.
CHI is very family orientated and understands the needs of families. Their extra care checking and double checking for rogue nails went above and beyond for the little bare feet in our home and in the edges of our neighbors lawn. Called and got our bid from Jim, the owner. He called me personally and discussed the details of the project to make sure we were on the same page with specifics. From there. we also were in contact with Maria who scheduled the roofing, and kept in contact about shingle color, drip edge, etc. Everything was very professional and organized. I got several bids for this project and they were the least expensive, also providing a 10% [redacted] discount. The crew on site was very nice, courteous and professional. My wife and I recently decided that we needed to replace our roof on a house we've only owned for 4 years. Truth be told it was apparent that there was a problem with leakage into the house from the first year we moved in since we saw drip marks in various places in our vaulted tongue and groove cedar ceiling. Since our roof has a slant and pitch that precludes us from using simple shingles we knew we would have a expensive and possibly error prone installation if we didn't choose the right roofing company to work with. My wife performed her usual diligent research and we narrowed down the list of roofing companies to three. We ultimately decided on Craftsmen Home Improvements for several reasons. First, the owner Jim K[redacted] was very warm and friendly and also gave us very expert and professional advice on what needed to be done. Alsthough their bid price wasn't the cheapest it also wasn't the most expensive. Second, Jim worked with us throughout the process to re-adjust the final bid several times as we looked to save cost whre we could without sacrificing the quality of the job. Without flinching Jim re-worked the quote multiple times and even was very congenial when we sought advice from another source. To us that showed that Jim would be the type of business that cares about the outcome of the job his company and workers perform. Which brings us to the third reason we chose Craftsmen Home Improvements to install our new roof, namely the work crew that came on-site to do the actual installation. From the word go they were a very friendly crew and the lead installer was very approachable when we had questions. In 2.5 days they completely tore down the existing roof including roof decking and insulation, installed spray foam and batt insulation, new decking and a new roof. Everyting was cleaned up promptly at the end of each day and at the end of the job you couldn't even tell they had been there. Service and craftsmanship? Incredible as usual.
We initially had these guys replace a leaky patio door. We then utilized them again, a few years later, to replace a dining room french door and most of our 1st floor windows.
Last summer we sustained some major hail damage and completed the repairs and replacements as noted above.
These folks are like family. They really do care. They can rip out a "wall" of windows in December and replace them without a single stain on our (dumb decision) white carpeting!! They custom stain the woodwork with nary a nail hole unfilled.
They returned yesterday to touch up the exterior paint for the windows which they obviously couldn't do in the middle of winter.
Their estimator, Eric, worked with our insurance agent after the later basically said "too bad for your damage." We did end up with some insurance coverage. Oh and did I mention, that Tom, one of their main dudes, fixed our squeaky front door, kitchen patio door and hauled away some old screens from the original doors. No charge:)

Outstanding company. Fair price, excellent quality work, speed of completion of the project outstanding. They replaced all of our siding with [redacted], and replaced 90% of our windows. Provided excellent resources for our questions. I would highly recommend this company. Quickly responded to a couple of minor issues that were discovered a month later. They cam the very next day to take care of it.
Craftsman was fairly priced compared to several other bids we received. We chose them because they could complete all the work allowing us to avoid coordinating different contractors. Everyone I interacted with at Craftsman was friendly, confident in their abilities and had clearly done their research before speaking with me. When the window and siding teams arrived at our house they knew exactly what was going on and had very few questions. The window portion of our project was completed in 3 days and a couple weeks later the siding was installed which took 4 days. When Craftsman was removing the old siding they discovered that a portion of the plywood underneath was rotting due to water damage. So they let us know and then replaced it - no up charge, no negotiation. They just fixed it. I'm very happy with the quality of the work we had done. All of the materials are high quality and you can tell the project was well planned. I'll be hiring Craftsman again.

Last April, Craftsman Home Improvements sent out three fine gentlemen to replace 12 old drafty and rotting windows, some dating back earlier than the 1960s (our house was built in 1917 with a 1960 addition). Six of the windows line our front sun porch/home office. For years we had struggled with cold drafts in the winter, inflating our heating bill, no doubt. And each spring, I, the lady of the house, labored to clean old windows with ill-fitting storm panels that I'd have to completely remove to clean both sides, plus I'd move a ladder around the house to get the outside glass clean. Whew, what a time-eating job!
In April, three fine gentlemen arrived, as friendly and respectful as could be. I had worried about dust and dirt in the house and had brought out sheets and tarps to hang or protect furniture. The workers cheerfully cooperated with my ideas for protection but then added their own! They were ready to do a quick, clean job!
It only took two days, and all our beautiful new windows are in! All trim is put back in place -- there's not an unfinished detail anywhere.
The windows are wonderful. We swear it's quieter in the house, so we expect the superior sealing work the windows are doing will result in warm, toasty rooms this winter with no drafts and lower heating bills to boot! The cleaning process is a snap, just pull and "tip" each panel inside and polish the glass!

I had Craftsmen Home Improvements replace the asphalt shingle roof on my Minneapolis home. Our home was built in 1887 and has a fairly complicated roof with several dormers including a round turret as well. The staff and crew at Craftsmen did an excellent job. The initial bid was very thorough and competitive, and they were able to get our job in their schedule right away, which was a huge help, as I was also trying to time this to get the roof done prior to a solar panel installation. After the initial tear off they discovered dry rot and big gaps between boards in the decking and ended up adding a new layer of sheathing on top of the original boards. There was some initial trouble getting the roof on the round turret to look right and after I called about it they came out and re-did it and it looks great now. All of the crew and staff were very professional and did a thorough job and made sure that I was happy. I would highly recommend Crafstmen for your roofing needs.
I am pleased with the attention Erik gave my home on the initial quote. Your supervisor and foreman were communicating all along the way which made me feel confidant in the work. If anything came up during the day we received a prompt email from Maria or a phone call. Once the job was completed the crew spent a few hours meticulously cleaning up our yard and surrounding landscape making sure all of the debris and nails from the previous roof were picked up and disposed of properly. My wife and I high recommend Craftsmen as a new roof and gutter guard installer. We look forward to calling on the team again if necessary in the future for any lifetime labor warranty repairs.

They are not a high pressure company and took the time to make sure that the project went well from beginning to end. All staff from sales, office and crew were professional and great to work with. Very neat and organized, debris was cleaned up as the work was being done. Very efficient crew that worked very well together, our project was completed under the scheduled time line. Last April, Craftsman Home Improvements sent out three fine gentlemen to replace 12 old drafty and rotting windows, some dating back earlier than the 1960s (our house was built in 1917 with a 1960 addition). Six of the windows line our front sun porch/home office. For years we had struggled with cold drafts in the winter, inflating our heating bill, no doubt. And each spring, I, the lady of the house, labored to clean old windows with ill-fitting storm panels that I'd have to completely remove to clean both sides, plus I'd move a ladder around the house to get the outside glass clean. Whew, what a time-eating job!
In April, three fine gentlemen arrived, as friendly and respectful as could be. I had worried about dust and dirt in the house and had brought out sheets and tarps to hang or protect furniture. The workers cheerfully cooperated with my ideas for protection but then added their own! They were ready to do a quick, clean job!
It only took two days, and all our beautiful new windows are in! All trim is put back in place -- there's not an unfinished detail anywhere.
The windows are wonderful. We swear it's quieter in the house, so we expect the superior sealing work the windows are doing will result in warm, toasty rooms this winter with no drafts and lower heating bills to boot! The cleaning process is a snap, just pull and "tip" each panel inside and polish the glass!

I had Craftsmen Home Improvements replace the asphalt shingle roof on my Minneapolis home. Our home was built in 1887 and has a fairly complicated roof with several dormers including a round turret as well. The staff and crew at Craftsmen did an excellent job. The initial bid was very thorough and competitive, and they were able to get our job in their schedule right away, which was a huge help, as I was also trying to time this to get the roof done prior to a solar panel installation. After the initial tear off they discovered dry rot and big gaps between boards in the decking and ended up adding a new layer of sheathing on top of the original boards. There was some initial trouble getting the roof on the round turret to look right and after I called about it they came out and re-did it and it looks great now. All of the crew and staff were very professional and did a thorough job and made sure that I was happy. I would highly recommend Crafstmen for your roofing needs.
I am pleased with the attention Erik gave my home on the initial quote. Your supervisor and foreman were communicating all along the way which made me feel confidant in the work. I am very pleased with the results and the overall price of the roof shingle work. Erik and I will talk about other work in the future.
