This customer had his long term friend Bob Lara, who worked here only a short time(due to dishonesty to customers, he was let go), rebuild his transmission After Bob was let go and the customer's vehicle was left in disarray, the customer verbally agreed to have a used transmission installed
Discount Engine did as instructed and upon attempt to test drive found it was the speed sensors that was causing the reverse issue. The speed sensors that were quoted had nothing to do with the transmissionAs you did not authorized Discount Engine to make this repair before picking up your vehicle, we are unable to make the repair.Discount Engine allowed the customer to pick up his vehicle without payment as the customer only verbally approved the work he instructed us to complete

Ms*** entered into a contract on February 27, to install a used engine in her *** *** On Monday, March 3, 2014, Ms*** came into shop inquiring on status of her vehicle She was incorrectly told that the vehicle was not in process yet (due to the fact that
there was a mistake by front office/we had three *** at the time) She was correctly told that it was in process of motor being pulled and worked on She then demanded that we break contract and give her vehicle right then and there It was explained to her that she would have to wait for management to come in and processMs*** then proceeded, without permission, to our back garage where her car was and demanded that she take her car immediately, she stood in doorway of garage door and refused to leaveShe had little kids with herWe told her she was trespassing on the back lot and it was not safe for her to be there with her children but she refused to leave Police were called to mediate After approximately three hours her paperwork was processed to break contract and her vehicle was released to her(see attached final invoice) She was informed at that time that the starter, alternator and compressor were missing from her vehicle Discount Engine did not keep those parts nor any other parts off of her vehicle

yes we have read the complaint...as we told the customer there is a restocking fee of $were willing to refund him the $of the $deposit.. Engine was ready when we told the customer, vender shipped to out warehouse from out of state which is where we stock the engines, customer called before engine was supposed to be picked up and canceled order. all the customer has to do is bring in his credit card and we will do the refund Thank you***

Gave a false time line to do repairs.
After job was started then call to try and add additional work and money stating if you do not do them your warranty will be void. Continuous problems first day after car wars returned. Ax wasn't charged when returned and they want &150 to charge it . That was never mentioned at time of quoting job.
Overall horrible experience!

After stopping by the shop without an appointment to pick up their engine and refusing to return later, the customer submitted a credit card dispute. By this time the agreed upon engine was already purchased and shipped to the Discount Engine shop. Customer never called Discount Engine back after a...

few attempts letting them know the engine was in. The engine has now been shipped back. Per the contract signed by the customer, Discount Engine has already processed a refund of $700 as there is a $300 restocking fee.

I was told by [redacted] to take my vehicle in due to his son doing some work on my car, and his shop closed after I was given a warranty. [redacted] told me he would do a free diagnostics on the vehicle and wouldn't charge me and to take it to a guy named [redacted]. So I did just that, and now here it is a month and a half later and several calls, and now they are holding my vehicle hostage for a $90 diagnostic fee. And threatening to charge me $850 because of all the issues and I choose not to get the over priced work done. I feel this is unfair to me due to them stating one thing and doing the total opposite and holding my vehicle hostage. And when I asked for the owners name and phone number a guy whom called himself [redacted] got on the phone and called me ignorant due to [redacted] stating that the diagnostics would be free. All I want is my vehicle back without the fee. This is poor customer service to the highest point. Please help..

The customer was quoted for a used long block engine installed. She was explained in detail before installation during signing process  that the used long block engines do not come with hoses, belts, mounts, tune up parts nor injectors..  was told that all her external...

parts would be used as long as they were reusable..(at no time did she tell us that additional parts were bad on her car.)   Once the technician explained to the office that there were additional parts including dead battery that was needed the management called her and explained...first thing she said was I have no money and no job! and complained  after talking with her for at least a half hr, per phone conversation she said she would barrow the money to go ahead and do the recommendations needed, and she would be in to sign off on it that same day...NEVER SHOWED UP, called her the next day she said she was busy but was coming in at lunch time.. NEVER SHOWED UP. had my assistant call her and she lied to my assistant saying that she came by and I wasn't there. All along her car is on the lift and the mechanic is waiting to put it back together, tying up the bays for a week long.I finally contacted her on the phone and she said she was working that she declined all the recommendations and to just put the engine in car..I explained to her I was going to need a intake gasket and that she would have car problems and to be ready for it. I also explained to her before we put car back together we would need a sign off on the parts she declined that we wouldn't be responsible for them. She showed up in the office complaining about parts and she had no money and was broke..I explained to her I was un able to get parts for free. she didn't care still complained and was very unreasonable not understanding parts are not free.  after being lied to and played numerous times I couldn't trust her word ...Once documents were signed off I explained after contracted work was complete she would have to come pay and pick up the car, not to let it sit here. The technician went to put coolant in her car and the rear cross over gaskets she declined were leaking coolant all over the ground, we couldn't even test run the car. Also the battery was so dead that we had to put a jump pack on it to turn the engine over. keep in mind this car has almost 200,000 miles on it.. has been poorly maintained. As noted on final invoice she signed, upon start up found multiple issues including engine misfire do to tune up parts declined and water leaks. could not test drive car customer took as is with dead battery. This customer likes to put the blame on the shop but in reality could not afford to fix her car the proper way, there will be no refund at this time. All signed documents in file, including warranty guidelines and procedure packet.

Hard to believe anyone has anything good to say about [redacted] and his business. Most dishonest shop and people I have ever dealt with. So dishonest that I never went back for my warranty check up because I would fully expect them to "find" something else wrong that would void any warranty. KNOW THIS -ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR CAR YOU MOST DEFINITELY WILL PAY MUCH MORE THAN THEY INITIALLY TELL YOU OR YOUR CAR WILL BE HELD HOSTAGE.The whole job was to cost $2,000. after weeks it was always a different price..,depending on who I spoke with.To get my car out of there with my bad engine out and NO engine replaced was going to cost $1500.Finally negotiated $2700 to finish job. [redacted] called me and said the engine was in but the gas line was broken and I would have to go to a junk yard and find one myself...or give him $90 an hour for them to find one for me.(gas line was not broken when car was towed to them) The engine was finally in so I towed it out of his evil place and had it fixed easily elswhere for total of $90.That mechanic said it was such an easy replacement he could not understand why [redacted] and Discount could not have done it.

As we explained to the customer it would be a few weeks before we could get the car on a lift and pull it.. as a courtesy I told him I would pay for the tow as towing is not covered under warranty. now he's submitting a Revdex.com complaint.. Get real

The truth of the matter is,  customer was quoted a price to install a remanufactured engine, at time of installation the tech noticed ac system was low on Freon, during repair we aloud customer to supply his own additional parts recommended, customer did verbally agree and to send...

injectors out to have serviced (after sublet co. already serviced them he changed his mind and said no  $250 service (in which we never charged this customer for, but he received them anyway) during pick up of vehicle, we did a ac evacuate and charge for free..as he complained.  few days later customer called and said there was a oil leak and demanded a free tow back to facility, as we explained to him he would have to get it it back and we could look at the car and address or even determine if it was under warranty or if there was some other issue he had going on.. Not only did he get free injector service he received a free ac evacuate and charge with Freon .. and now he wants free towing...customer needs to bring car in and we would be happy to look at the leak and repair if under warranty.

Horrible experience! Cost more than quoted, took longer than promised and couldn't drive it off the lot when finished. Had to tow to another shop rather than deal with them any longer to just get my car on the road again.
Wish I had read reviews BEFORE I went there. After the fact, I Notice there are over 30 hidden bad reviews under (not recommended), and an "F": rating and more than 30 complaints and bad reviews from the Revdex.com.
I do NOT recommend anyone to ever take their car there.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Message from this business is complete lies. I tried to get this engine for 17 days. [redacted] said he 2 days to get the engine in.  I was supposed to pick it up on Dec 19 but it was going to cost me to take off so the day before I called and asked if I could get the engine on Dec 26th. The engine was already supposed to be there and that is why I am filing a dispute. I t is funny how they can’t even keep their lies strait. The letter to the Revdex.com says the engine is coming from out of state, but the letter to [redacted] states the engine is already in. that is why I have filed a dispute I was off on the 26 and the engine was still not there so I was not able to pick it up.This contract should be void because they never followed through, and they have been nothing but dishonest. For 1 week I tried to get that engine lined up to pick up on the 26th calling every day. This was not a purchase yet because it was a completed transaction. The engine was never delivered, and this was only a deposit. At this point we are very scared to use a business like this because of how they have constantly lied. You cannot charge a person’s charge card $1000.00 and just hold their money for ransom. Please see the other documents I am sending. It shows the reputation of this business and how we are not the first or the last if nothing is done about how they run a business. This is a couple of many examples from the internet. Regards,[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Customer's brother in law came in, went over all the details with him, and agreed to have work completed. We've been waiting a week for a response. Now that we have the go ahead to compete the job contracted to do, we will wrap this up shortly. Since the customer has stated, in person, that there is...

money problem, we will need the final payment in cash or cashier's check.

Holly molly!! I never knew businesses like this one existed!!! STAY AWAY from this shop!! So unethical, dishonest, rudest, and worse LIARS ever! [redacted], owner/manager is a total jerk and loves to use his intimidating/ evil attitude to manipulate you. Don't fall for it! Just stay away from these crooks and you'll be safe! They are SUPER expensive and will not do anything on your car. I honestly don't know why they are still operating as a business.

Per warranty guidelines - Customer was unable to provide receipts for oil changes, as per request by vender, After management pleated with vender to honor repair work it was granted.  Customer stated he was going to bring vehicle back so work can be performed under warranty.  this company...

is bound by warranty guidelines and customer's need to follow warranty procedures or there will be no warranty on said products..

They are the most unprofessional and sneaky shops I've ever done business with. They not only took a month on my truck when they quoted me a week but they also changed payment arrangements depending on the managers mood. Then when it came time for them to get paid they wouldn't except payment unless it was with cash after telling me they accepted credit cards just not for me I guess and now my A/C that was working perfectly when I brought it in is now blowing hot air.So if you need your engine replaced or fixed look else where because this place will rip you off and leave you with more repairs to fix.

I forgot a very important point.
I went to a small RV store on Main Street Two stores down from Mesa Dr. to have my bus inspected. They told me I needed engine work??
They told me to take it to 'Discount Engine Exchange.' If you live in the Phoenix Metro area you have seen [redacted]'s TV ads show a warehouse full of engines.
He does not have a warehouse full of engines. In-fact he has zero engines in stock.
[redacted] did not call me. I finally I went 'Discount Engine Exchange.' [redacted] claimed they had lost my phone number.
As old as I am I should have known he was trouble when he started calling me "My Good Friend Lonnie Stepp."
[redacted] told the wife and I the bus's engine was bad. [redacted] They told me the complete job would cost about $5,000.00.
I issued him a $3,000.00 security deposit.
[redacted] phoned me and claimed my bus needed a fuel pump, I drove the bus into his shop, why do I did a new Fuel Pump? When I finally retrieved my bus [redacted] could not produce the old fuel pump. Now my Motor Home's gas gauge is stuck on full.
[redacted] claimed he replaced bad fuel injectors. (this without MY permission.) I ask him to show and give me the old injectors. [redacted] could not produce the old fuel injectors.
Weeks later when he finally called me.
I went to 'Discount Engine Exchange' with another $2,000.00 in cash.
[redacted] demanded $7,000,00 for the repairs. I was forced to shell out the $7,000.00 in order to rescue my bus.
Upon, cursory inspection I noted the driver's side mirror was dangling from the wires that power the mirror. The passenger side mirror was almost ready to fall off.
[redacted]'s had broken and thrown away the interior door handle so I cannot tig weld the broken piece back onto the remaining stub of the door handle. A new personnel door handle cost about $250.00.
[redacted]'s, 'Discount Engine Exchange' trashed the drivers Flex Steel captain's chair. I was forced to have it reupholstered.
I drove the bus only two blocks and the engine overheated. I had to allow it to cool before I drive it back to [redacted]'s, 'Discount Engine exchange.'
I had just given this man $10,000 dollars. When I returned to [redacted]'s, 'We Rip You Off', I entered his office and told him the Motor Home was overheating. I told [redacted] I could come back after lunch and pick up my bus.
[redacted]'s response to this was, paraphrased, "You will have to go to the end of the queue, I have other vehicles ahead of yours."
When I first entered 'Discount Engine Exchange.' a Honda Element on one of his lifts. The same Honda element was still on the same lift when I went to [redacted]'s, 'Discount Engine Exchange.'

Mr. [redacted] purchased a used longblock engine from us on or about August 14, 2014. We did not install this engine. All motors are tested before they leave our facility.  Mr. [redacted] returned his vehicle on or about December 11,2013 for inspection.  One of our technicians diagnosed his vehicle as...

the balancer/pulley not  being torqued to specifications which resulted in damaging front of crankshaft.  Also that the flywheel bolts were not torqued to specifications.  It is the responsibility of the installer to make sure all bolts are torqued properly.  Mr. [redacted] assertion that there is no such thing as a balancer on this vehicle is correct in part, only that technicians do use different terminology from one to the  other.  This particular part might also be called a crankshaft pulley (as identified by the Inifinity dealer).  The balancer/pulley issue was also observed by office personnel.  We also want to state that this customer informed us that he and his mechanic (identified by customer as a professional) installed this engine themselves.  He also informed us that the mechanic did not correctly place the engine on the hoist and therefore fell on customer, which also may have caused damage to the engine How professional is that?
