Dosh Reviews (%countItem)

I made purchases totaling $926.85 on the Staples.com online store through the advertised Dosh 5% cashback offer. After each individual purchase of $308.95 I was correctly informed that I'd been awarded $15.45 in cash back. Dosh are now refusing to honor this cashback because my purchases involved gift cards. At the time that I made my purchases gift cards were not excluded from the cash back offer, hence the advertised offer encouraged my purchases. Dosh did subsequently amend the Staples cash back offer to explicitly exclude gift cards, at which point I accepted those changed terms and made no further purchases. However the refusal to honor the cash back on my three purchases prior to the change in terms and conditions is a breach of contract.

I booked a hotel room in early March for May 2nd. I began trying to contact the company in April to see if my reservation would be valid due to Covid-19. Dosh did not respond to me until 2 days before my trip. They sent me a confirmation email regarding my booking. We drove two hours only to find a sign on the door stating the hotel was closed. I’ve contacted the hotel owner with no response and have been waiting for Dosh to respond to me for almost a month now. I want a refund please!!!

Dosh provides customers with rebates for purchases made with certain retailers when your credit card is on file with them. Dosh listed Staples as one such business. I made purchases at Staples on 4/6/20, 4/7/20, and 4/8/20. Cash for these purchases appeared in my account as pending ($5 for each of the above dates for $15 total). Then, on 4/10/20 at 11:42 AM Dosh issued an email that they were going to "claw back the cash" because I had "purchased a high volume set of gift cards at Staples" which apparently violated their terms and conditions (even though the offer I had responded to in their app did not state any such restrictions. Furthermore, I received a second email about 12:30 PM the same day (About 48 minutes later) stating that "After thorough review, we identified a small number of users that were mistakenly affected, and you were among that group" and that "we have reapplied your cash back to your Dosh wallet." However those charges sat in pending until April 14, 2020 when they were removed and are now listed in the app as "failed." I have emailed Dosh on three different occasions, forwarding them the emails and this complaint, asking them to reinstate the dollars. The first time they provided an initial restatement of the first email but did not response to the actual complaint (their own acknowledgement that they made a mistake and were going to reinstate the funds. I replied and they did not reply back. The last two times, I received multiple automated responses from different parties all stating how they are experiencing slight delays and will get back to me as soon as possible. They never do. My last email notified them that I would need to file this complete with the Revdex.com, but I still only got the automated reply. I am happy to provide any additional documentation if required. I have all the email exchanges documents.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

It does not address the point in my complaint. My complaint is not centered around whether I violated the terms and conditions. That is irrelevant. While Dosh claimed this point already in their first email (that I submitted as part of my original complaint), they then rescinded that claim with their second email, thus admitting I did not break the terms and conditions and that they would be awarding me the $15 that I am owed. What they are repeating in this reply is their first decision, which they themselves rescinded. They have not clearly communicated to me why they will not honor their own communication to me that indicates that their first email was a mistake. Thus, I am owed the $15.

Scam! No telephone number. Scripted responses from customer support. Piss poor customer support. I’m convinced only one person works there. I remained someone directly who helped me in the past with the same issue and the person who ignored my request 3 days priors intercepted the email only to provide the same scripted response and has continued to ignore my emails after that. Refusing to look into the issue and refusing to let someone else handle the issue. When you search online there is no number and it states in the Revdex.com website that they “request” that their number be private. Instant red flag! I’ll just remove my credit cards from this piece of crap app and delete it anyway. It’s too exhausting to deal with and any company that lowers you to only beating handles by emails shows how valuable you are to them anyway

I have made several transactions where I should be receiving cash back offers. The offers show active in my area but when I use my card to pay, the cash back isn’t being issued. I have sent several emails to submit a request to have my cash back issued. Customer service is terrible. The fact that there is no phone number to speak with a live representative is a problem in itself. Then when I sent the last 3 emails to have the issue resolved, I keep getting an auto reply stating that there was no cash back offer available, even after I showed proof. I’m trying to get this resolved and get the money that is due to me.

I purchased gift cards through Dosh from *** on April 6, April 7, and April 8. They each were for $413.90. The cashback rate was 5% with a maximum of $20 per day. It made no mention of gift cards being excluded in the terms of conditions. On April 9th, Dosh lowered the cashback rate to 3%. And then on April 10th, they added terms that "gift cards are excluded from earning cashback". Now Dosh is pulling a bait and switch and have removed the cashback from my Dosh account after the Staples gift cards shipped.

I am rejecting this response because: there were no terms saying that it excluded gift cards. You cannot just retroactively remove cashback after people make the purchase because you don't want to pay it out. I did not purchase any gift cards in bulk. I only bought 3 of them for personal use only, I can show with receipts. This is not an acceptable resolution, you are cheating me (the consumer) out of cashback I legitimately earned. If you do not put the cashback in my account, I will file a complaint with small claims court.

On April 5, I noticed that the Dosh app was offering 5% cash back at Staples. This was perfect timing for me, because I needed to purchase Visa gift cards for several elderly family members who are struggling because of COVID-19. These folks don't have their own credit cards, can't leave their homes, and are having a really hard time purchasing essentials online right now. Visa gift cards seemed like the perfect solution. The only problem is that Visa gift cards have a purchase fee of $8.95 per card, which is outlandishly expensive.

I made sure to CAREFULLY read the terms of the Staples/Dosh promotion. Nowhere did it state that gift cards were excluded. I purchased two $300 gift cards on April 5, two on April 6 and two on April 7, for a total of $1800. The fees on these cards was a total of $53.70, but since 5% of $1800 is $60, the fees for the gift cards would be covered! I was thrilled.

Imagine my surprise when I received a nasty email from Dosh, informing me that I was in violation of their terms and conditions! They used terrible language, stating that they were "clawing back" the 5% cash I had fairly earned from the offer. They also accused me of "manufacture spending," which I don't even understand. I find their actions reprehensible, especially during this terrible time.

I'm very upset. The more I think about this, the more frustrating it is. I acted on this offer specifically because purchasing gift cards with no fee meant that I could help support my family members in a way that was affordable to me. As I mentioned, I carefully read the terms of the offer and nowhere did they say that gift cards were excluded.

This entire experience has been extremely unpleasant. I feel like I'm being unfairly targeted for a mysterious "crime" I didn't commit and honestly don't understand.

I look forward to your response.

DOSH offered to pay 5% cashback for Staples purchases made through their application. Terms & Conditions did *notexclude the purchase of gift cards. After the purchases were made, DOSH reneged on its contractual obligations and granted itself the right to deny cashback in its "sole discretion".

Complaint: *** I am rejecting this response because purchasing gift cards was not prohibited
by the terms of the offer (see attached). Purchasing a few gift cards at
Staples does not constitute "abuse" and is in no way a violation of
DOSH's Terms of Service. DOSH advertised 5% cashback for Staples
purchases made through their application. Terms of Service did *notexclude the purchase of gift
cards. Please credit my account with $19.90,
$15.45 and $15.45 for purchases made at Staples on 04/05, 04/06 and 04/07. Thanks in advance.

Dosh published a 5% cash back offer when you buy through them with *** up to $20 a day. The terms and conditions of the offer didn't exclude gift cards (they clearly exclude them in other offers - for example, they have a live offer now with *** that excludes gift cards).
I bought 2 gift cards a day for 3 days. Total of 6 gift cards. My $60 of cash back went "pending" but the declined them stating I purchased a large volume of gift cards. I asked what's a large number of gift cards since since 6 cards is very small. They didn't respond. They didn't list any limitation on it to begin with. This is fraudulent by any means!

Business provides cashback through an app for shopping at certain websites. In the first week of April 2020 the app ran a special where you would get 5% cashback when shopping at ***. The terms only stated that it was valid when shopping at *** and a maximum of $20 per day. There were no other restrictions on the offer itself until April 7 when they excluded gift cards and made the maximum cashback 3% of $5 per day. I placed an order for 4 days and was initially awarded the cashback of $20 each but this was later withdrawn from my account due to "purchases of a high volume of gift cards". I have reached out multiple times to the company to clarify which amount constitutes a high volume but have not received an answer. At this point the company does not honor their terms on the deal and can not give any satisfying response as to any terms of service. I consider this offer to be misleading and the removal of cashback based on fraudulent practices.

I am rejecting this response because:

The terms of Dosh regarding gift cards read : "that you are purchasing gift cards at a volume or denomination that is intended to abuse the Services" ... I would like to get a specific figure of what is considered abuse? I purchased an amount which to me is perfectly normal in order to pay for services or give away as presents and did not intend to abuse the services so unless Dosh can name a specific numeric threshold of which amount per week/month/year is considered abuse I'm not willing to accept this answer as satisfactory.

On April 4, 2020, I purchased 3 gift cards from Staples (totaling $383.95)while clicking through Dosh and using my credit card linked to my Dosh account. Dosh was offering 5% cash back with a maximum cash back of $20 per day. At that time, gift cards were NOT excluded from the terms and conditions. On April 5, 2020 I purchased 2 gift cards from Staples (totaling $408.95). Dosh was offering the same 5% cash back with $20 per day maximum and gift cards were likewise NOT excluded from the terms and conditions on this day as well. Dosh therefore owes me $19.20 + $20 = $39.20 in cash back. Dosh is refusing to pay out the cash back, claiming that they somehow believe I intend to use these gift cards for "manufactured spending," which apparently according to Dosh gives them the right to not follow through on their end of our agreement and breach the contract. They have unilaterally determined that I "violated their Terms of Service" when I have done so such thing because I do not engage in manufactured spending. I simply responded to their offer of 5% cash back and now they do not want to pay. I have sent multiple emails asking Dosh what they define to be "manufactured spending" and they never respond to that question. I have zero intentions to manufacture spend with these gift cards. In fact, 3 of the gift cards are for Target and I am quite sure it is actually impossible to use a Target gift card to manufacture spend. Two of the gift cards are Visa, which I intend to use for gas, groceries, online payments, gifts, etc. It is my contention that Dosh is in breach of contract and I am requesting that they comply with their end of the agreement and fulfill their promise to provide cash back. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: I know of people who participated in the same promotion and purchased Visa gift cards and had their cash back from Dosh paid out. I do not know why I am being singled out for abiding by the terms of the offer. Dosh never defines what they mean by gift card abuse or manufactured spending. I have done neither of those things with the gift cards I purchased. I simply accepted an offer from Dosh and now they are refusing to pay out. If would advise anyone to steer clear of this company seeing as they will apparently refuse to honor cash back whenever they want buy hiding behind vague terms of service without ever defining the terms in those terms of service.

I used the Dosh app on my phone to make a purchase at ***. They were advertising 5% cash back when making a purchase at Staples through their app, up to a maximum of $20 a day. I made a total of 4 purchases over 4 days of , which should have given me a total of $617.90 each. This should have given me a total of $80 of cash back (4 x $20 for each purchase). Dosh is refusing to give me the $80 in cash back, stating:

Your account has been flagged for having purchased a high volume set of gift cards at Staples for manufacture spend. Unfortunately, this behavior has violated our Terms of Service, which you can reference here: *** in Section 9. Since our Terms of Service have been violated, we have decided to claw back the cashback that was issued on your account.

I don't know what they're talking about with manufactured spend. I purchased a total of 8 gift cards in the 4 transactions, but don't believe I violated any of their terms of service. I'm not sure what they mean by a "high volume" of gift cards. That is rather vague and I don't believe applies in the case of 8 gift cards over 4 days.

I am rejecting this response because:

I don't believe I violated the terms of service as they state. They say their terms of service do not allow "high volumes of gift card purchases". I bought 8 gift cards over 4 days, which I don't believe is a high volume. Also, the terms of service on this particular offer did not prevent gift card purchases at all. Midway through the promotion they changes the terms of the deal to prevent gift card purchases, and now they're trying to deny me cash back earned under the original terms.

Dosh recently (4/4/20) launched an offer on for 5% cashback on purchases at ***. I purchased a total of 4 $300 visa gift cards at Staples under the terms of this offer. This should have been eligible for a total of $51 in cashback credit as it was per the terms and conditions advertised by Dosh. Indeed the Dosh app logged the purchases and identified the correct cashback as pending. On April 7th the terms of the offer changed to reduce the cashback to 3% and also to exclude gift cards. At this point Dosh changed all the ‘pending’ transactions to failed. I contacted Dosh to query this, and they said I had purchased a high volume of gift cards and therefore they would not pay out. I do not see how 4 gift cards is somehow high volume. Instead I believe that Dosh changed their minds about the generosity of the offer, and retrospectively change the terms of the deal. Applying the terms retrospectively in this fashion is bait and switch.
I am quite unhappy about this as Staples is significantly more expensive than other merchants for Visa Gift Cards. I spent over $30 more than I should have to acquire the cards, versus buying at my regular location. So instead of a net saving $20, I find myself down over $30. I would have been willing to settle if my loss had been made whole but Dosh dismissed me out of hand.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Dosh are trying to claim that the purchase of 4 gift cards constitutes abuse of their cashback program. I fundamentally disagree. I had a need for $1200 in gift cards. Staples sell them in $300 increments, so I needed to buy 4 cards. If the purchase of gift cards is not allowed, then Dosh should have made that clear in the Terms and Conditions of the deal. They did not. The fact that Dosh later changed the T&C to exclude gift cards makes it clear Dosh decided after the fact, that the offer was overly generous and decided to renege on the payout. In the absence of any restriction on buying gift cards for the deal, they fell back on the vague 'abuse' concept in their general program terms. My issue is that buying 4 gift cards cannot reasonably be claimed to be 'abuse', so this rule should not have been applied to my situation.

I get why Dosh might have changed their minds about this deal (it was generous), but even if they did decide to walk back on it, they should have been willing to make some sort of goodwill gesture. By purchasing my giftcards through this promotion I ended up spending about $35 more than I would have had to spend at alternate vendors.

that said, I would be happy to meet Dosh halfway (honor the cashback on 2 of the transactions), as a compromise to settle this dispute.

Otherwise it just seems to be a cynical bait and switch move by Dosh holdings.

Regards

I earned a total of $46.35 cashback for 3 purchases through Dosh on ***. A few days later Dosh clawed back the $46.35. Then a few days later Dosh reinstated the $46.35 back to my account. Then a few days later Dosh clawed back the $46.35 again. Dosh has really handled this situation very unprofessionally. I can not recommend using the Dosh app unless they reinstate the the $46.35 cashback earned.

I have Dosh's cashback app on my phone. Recently, there was an offer for 5% back on online purchases at *** up to $20. Notably, the terms did not exclude gift cards. I purchased a $300 visa gift card on each of 4/4, 4/5, and 4/6. The cashback initially posted, but then was removed a couple of days later. Then, a couple of days after that, the cashback was reinstated and an email was sent out that some people (such as me) had been erroneously affected by the removal of cashback.

Again, a couple of days later, the cashback was removed again. A follow up email to Dosh support was responded to by a support agent noting that the cashback had been removed due to "bulk gift card purchases." No such "bulk purchases" of gift cards were made. Rather, I purchased one on each of 3 days that the offer was available.

Dosh offered a 5% cash back offer up to $20 per day for purchases at ***. The only restrictions listed on the offer was that it was $20/day and only valid at ***. I made a purchase of gift cards from *** each day for 4 consecutive days to earn $80 cash back. The $80 was showing up in my pending cashback on Dosh. On the fifth day, Dosh changed the terms of the offer to be 3% cash back up to $5 per day and added an exclusion for gift card purchases. Dosh also went and retroactively invalidated the cash back earned on my 4 purchases under the old terms. When I opened a support ticket about it, the response I received was:

"After conducting a thorough review of your account, it would appear that you have purchased a high volume set of gift cards at Staples. This behavior violates our terms and conditions. Per our Terms of Service, “If the Company, in its sole discretion, believes that you are purchasing gift cards at a volume or denomination that is intended to abuse the Services or that appears to be consistent with manufactured spending, the Company retains the right to suspend and/or terminate your Account and claw back any DOSH received as a result of the gift card abuse.” For more information, you can reference our Terms of Service here: ***."

There was no abuse or manufactured spending involved or any violation of their terms of service. I made the purchases totally complying with their restrictions and did not abuse it as it was limited to $20 cash back per day. Many sites and retailers offer promotions to sell gift cards at discounted rates. I used this promotion to purchase gift cards to receive a discount. Now that Dosh has invalidated the cash back I earned, I am suffering a loss of $55.60 that I paid on the activation fees of the gift cards. I am also not able to return the gift cards as the retailer does not allow for refunds on purchases of gift cards.

I completed an offer through their site. The offer terms provided 5% cashback on a purchase at Staples. The offer terms did not exclude gift cards. Typically, their offers exclude gift cards. This offer didn't. I reached out to them to alert them about an overpayment of cashback that they were in the process of paying me, along with another concern and their response was that they reviewed my account and found that I violated their gift card terms that state that if THEY feel that I purchased gift cards at a high volume or if it appeared that I was involved in "manufactured spending", I would forfeit my cashback. They are refusing to pay me the cashback for a single $300 gift card. This is hardly high volume. It's a single gift card and it qualified for less than the daily maximum cashback amount of $20. This only qualified for $15.45, which is within their limit. They also suspiciously canceled my order and other customers' cashback 5+ days after the orders had been pending with Staples They did this when the orders were finalized. At that point, Dosh would receive their funds, but the customer wouldn't be able to cancel the order. This was calculated and shady move on Dosh's part. I've had another issue with them. I provided screenshots of their own site terms that proved that I fulfilled a cashback offer. Their rep refused to honor the cashback until I escalated it. Dosh is very deceptive and dishonest.

After meeting my cash out number they have decided to put a hold on my last purchase and keep it as pending. This process normally takes a couple of days, but since I’m owed money they are stalling. My purchase was made 2/28/2020 and they still haven’t approved it. I have tried to contact them regarding the issue, but they ignore me. I just want my money.
