Horrible customer service, after a year lease they said there was an outstanding balance but were not quite clear about what it was for I asked for a breakdown of the balance and had no problem paying for it it was about($300) but once o got it, she could not tell me how to pay for it she just said go online Just a few days after I received a call from a collection company So I called the office and they never answer and when they finally do they say they will call back in a few hours the whole weekend goes by and no call, then the manager left home early so I can not talk to anyone and then when I finally call private she answers and says, she's waiting for the collection company to retract it so I can pay directly through her But I called the collection company and they say they do not know what she's talking about because once they send me there there is not going back All this for $they never told me about and when I found out all they did was send it to collections right away knowing I was trying to pay it

We were charged $dollars for failing to notify *** *** *** that we would not be renewing our lease within days of its expiration We notified at the day point days at $921? That is more than the daily rent value of days It seems excessive We had a maintenance man attempt force his way into the apartment at 9:PM using his key to enter We we expressed our concern to the staff, we were told that it was a mistake that they could not guarantee would not happen again We were considering moving to another Equity property, but the negative experiences out weigh any positives Renter beware

Be very aware of equity apartments They use their status a bigger business to bully you around I signed a lease with them, and had decided to move out They said they had someone renting the apartment, and that I will not have to pay rent afterwards But I get a bill a month later because they claimed the person didn't rent Since I am still paying full rent, I asked for the key back so I can continue to use the property But they refused So in summary, they refuse to let me gain access to a property that I am paying for Extremely bad experience I suggest that you think twice about using them

Extremely bad accounting practices and a complete lack of response by the companyTerminated a lease early and had to move out due to relocation and job changeFirst the office staff couldn't clearly answer questions and had no written information on terminating a lease procedure, had to have multiple conversations with office staff to get informationAccounting is extremely delayed or inaccurate On Nov 27, I received a "past due" notice for a charge on Nov 30, On occasions accounting did not reflect current charges, of course we pay even though they can't keep track of who owes them moneyI have asked multiple times to speak to supervisors and corporate with no success

My deposit was supposed to be refunded within days from move out per California State Law
I moved out on March 5, and as of June 12th, I still have not received my refund
I have it in writing from one of the managers that oversees this specific property that my issue is put on the back burner so that they can focus on signing new residents (putting money in your pocket) and helping with current move outsMy issue is over months old at this point
My lease states I am permitted to ask for this to be direct deposited per California Law and I've been told multiple times this is not a possibility (even though our signed legal agreement states I have the right to execute this clause)
Also, you are trying to charge me $for insufficient notice when there is written proof that my notice was given on time
Overall, there are multiple violations on Equity's behalf and a blatant disregard for getting this issue resolved with a former resident who paid rent on time ever

The company opened lines of credit without my consent or my knowledge when they shouldn't haveThe company does rental for tenants for apartmentsThis has had disastrous effects on my credit and they have been ignoring my calls and requests to talk to someoneThis has destroyed my chances at finding potential homes for my family and interest rates when looking for vehicles

In regards to an account sent to collections and has affected my credit scoreI have disputed these charges numerous timesI haven't lived, nor been associated with your company since when I broke my lease because I was left to live in uninhabitable conditions such as a flooded tub and sink, nonoperable refrigerator and a wasp's nest on my balconyWe had to stay with family for weeks in December without being able to reach the office via phone and no one was present when we tried to find someone to speak to in personWe tried numerous times to reach the management office prior to the next rent cycle, no returned callsWe finally ran into the manager at the time we were going to tape our pictures and evidence of the conditions, along with our notice of departure to their door! When we refused to stay at *** *** having gone a month with an inoperable restroom and fridge, we were served with papers suing us for our lease! Note: these court documents were also dated TWO YEARS PRIOR TO US LIVING THERE, thus never receiving ACCURATE documentation

I was a former tenant in *** *** Apartments in Cambridge, MAAbout months before I moved out, someone did a pre-move-out inspection of my apartment and did not mentioned that there was any work needed to be done

My name is *** ***, I stay at ***, *** Munstead Dr, Alexandria, VA The front office restricted my access to pay online through their portalI had a few returned payments because someone had hacked into my account and claimed fraudI since had it fixed and told the front office this, and they refuse to give me the access backThis led to the second issueBecause of this, I had to do Online bill payI had to submit it twice because Equity's system wasn't updating showing it was paid (see attachment for proof)Now it is the 6th and I was charged a 15% late fee just because their system didn't updateIn addition, I had to spend $that I can't get backBecause of me losing online access through the portal to pay I have been so inconveniencedI literally have no time to get a money order and now I am at risk for being evicted

When I rented my apartment at the Girard building in Boston it was under reasonable management months into my residence the management company changed to Equity Residential and the services became abysmal Mail was no longer being delivered, packages would be lost regularly and the staff were unhelpful
Fast forward to the end of my lease and trying to leave I complied fully with the lease agreement to provide in writing my notice to leave days prior to the date I moved out I received email confirmation that it was received but they would like me to fill out their form It took a few days for my schedule to match up to their limited hours to complete this additional form After moving out I received a bill that I had broken my lease days early and was being charged a fee for this When I explained that they had received a notification days earlier and even provided the email they stated it was not valid because it was not on their form This is not a stipulation of their lease The form is not even available other than from them at the time you provide your notice to leave I provided a letter drafted by my lawyer that again explained the situation and provided a check that I would give as payment in full (annotated clearly on the check and in the letter accompanying it) The check was cashed and I did not hear anything else back Now weeks later I am being hassled by a collections agency for the fraudulent payment
The incompetency and predatory practices from this company is ridiculous I would recommend avoiding interacting with this company at all costs

Since the beginning of August I have been trying to get in contact with management in regard to renewing my leaseI wanted to upgrade to a 2br instead of renewing my 1brover and over and over again I called with no response and no call backFinally when I was able to speak to someone they told me that its a simple process and that they would see whats available and then get back to me with availabilityWell, they never got back to me until my next payment was already due and paid by me meaning that they waited for my month to month payment to start which resulted in an increase of $a monthThen when I finally started speaking with a Brenda she wanted my financials in order to approve me but then never followed through with what was available for me to move intoFast forward a whole month to when my next payment was due, I sat with Brenda and told her I don't like whats going on with the games being played by Equity Apartments resulting in my payment of an extra $a month
