Review: I was on a website http://www.vssm.org/) trying to access samples of old school exams, and despite the many "FREE" declarations, preceding the request for my billing information, as soon as it was entered, I was presented with a receipt for my "purchase" from www.mediahoe.net.

Checking with my CC company, I was billed first for $1, and then for $2.95. When I called the "24-hour customer support" for the website, they hung up on me...

I had NEVER even heard of the "mediahoe" company until AFTER they accessed my credit card. there is no telling what else they will steal from my account!Desired Settlement: I want my $3.95 refunded, them to stay OUT of my account, and they should be punished for this SCAM...

Review: I was signed up with vexplay services without any notification or confirmation. When I went to cancel services, the telephone message requires you to go through a number of hoops to cancel your subscription. It then indicates that you will get an email notification of cancellation which never arrived. I'm now in process of working with my credit card company to dispute the pending charge if any goes through.Desired Settlement: If the pending charge goes through, I will ask that it be returned.

Review: This company is a scam. I clicked through an ad because I thought it was required to download free software. It took me through a registration and claimed that I would not be charged and it was just for verification. I thought it was for the software. It turns out, they registered me for some video game account that I don't want.

Here are the problems: the registration automatically enrolled me in a premium account for $34 and change MONTHLY. They only give you 5 days to cancel.

To cancel online, it costs $0.99.

The 800 number for cancellation was out of service.

I called their pay number and waited on hold for 10 minutes. They claim to have canceled my account and refunded the $0.99, but we will see.Desired Settlement: I want a refund, but mostly I also want this company to be flagged for unethical practices. This is clearly designed to trick people into being charged a monthly fee. In order not to be charged, I had to spend about 20 minutes working to get this resolved.

Review: There site states "free membership" and the same day I was charged $1.00 on my credit card. Thankfully, Chase Bank was on top of it and notified me and we blocked the charge. That's an open-ended opportunity for "crooks" to compromise a credit card. Site obviously deceives the unaware consumer (and I consider myself very computer safety aware).Desired Settlement: I see this company has an F rating already - why are they allowed to continue to deceive people? Review: The "free" membership automatically converts to a a pay service, which is not adequately documented when signing up. Cancellation requires you to PAY for the cancellation (a "convenience fee"). The supposed alternative to the paid cancellation is to send them an email, but when you try to select cancellation in their feedback form, it bounces you back to the "give us a dollar to cancel" page, an infinite loop of fraud. No emails other than automated responses are ever received. The only option is to dispute the charge with your credit card company, causing significant lost time, and resulting in the card being cancelled and having to set up a new card with any other companies you used that card to auto-bill with.Desired Settlement: Permanent cancellation. No fees of any kind. Email confirmation of the cancellation.

Review: I'm not clear how but we were added to an automatic subscription service for a website we've never been to. I just realized this month that they were automatically charging us $34.99 each month for a service we didn't request and haven't accessed. It is listed under my 12 year old daughter's email account. When I called the company, they listened to my complaint but would not refund any of the money--they simply said they would cancel the subscription. As I was complaining about the issue, the person hung up on me. Now, every time I call the number, I can't get through--it immediately hangs up on me. I believe this is a common occurrence with them. When I first chose the option to talk to someone about billing issues, I was taken to a recorded message that said they could not offer refunds for any months previous and that you could cancel the service by choosing a different option. They have, at this point, scammed $244.93 out of us.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $244.93. I'm fairly sure that a 12-year-old cannot enter into a legally binding financial arrangement without parental permission.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I would like to note a couple of things:

1. I originally called the company on September 15 and was told that they could only refund the most recent month's fee. They hung up on me while I was talking to them.

2. I called back on September 16 (after having filed the complaint with Revdex.com) and was told that they could only refund 3 months fees because the bank wouldn't allow them to refund any further back. No amount of complaining, arguing or threatening legal action would change the supervisor's mind. They did immediately process the refund for 3 months fees that day.

3. The final 3 refunds simply showed up in my account on September 21. I called my bank to find out if these could be reversed since nothing about these refunds had been communicated to me by the company. When I checked the Revdex.com site later that day, I found the company's response stating that they had refunded in full. I fully believe that if the Revdex.com hadn't been involved, I would never have received more than 3 months fees refunded.

Review: from TV Guide, I attempted to view a program. it sent me to PlayPez. I should have realized when it asked for CC number to register for a FREE membership that it was wrong, but I did it anyway. After I realized that I would not be able to view what I expected, I attempted to cancel membership. If you choose to do it online, they will charge you $1.00. If you call, they say they won't charge you anything. I now have realized that they have charged my CC $1.00 even before my cancelation. The charge is billed outside the US, which my bank informed me of. I also realized that this PlayPez is just one of many companies under this conglomeration as I attempted to view the program again, it sent me to another one of the companies. I just seems like they are going to get $1.00 no matter what. From all the people that they dupe, that's going to be a lot of dollars.Desired Settlement: I would like my $1.00 back, but I just felt I needed to report them as shady business practitioners. thank you for your time

Our customer support agents are trained to explain that this transaction is only for credit card validation reasons. It normally shows up on a credit card or bank statement as a pending transaction but then is released. Depending on the bank at times the money is removed but then promptly put back.

Review: www.funkplay.net has been charging my credit card 34.95 per month for at least 5 months before I caught the unauthorized transactions. They have been contacted and assured the money would be credited back to the account. How they ever got the credit card number is my question. I have seen numerous other complaints on the internet about this company doing the same thing to other people. We will see if they honor the credit. Review: Fang Media advertised having a product (Sam Shepards Seven Plays) but demanded that interested customers register and pay a fee before seeing their library. I found that they did not hold that title or many others and tried to cancel within 15 minutes. To cancel, Fang Media charged me money for 'processing', which I do believe is illegalDesired Settlement: Reimbursement of charges and punishment for misrepresenting products.

Review: I wanted to download an app from FURPLAY that allows me to use Android apps on my kindle. They want my credit card # - NOT to charge me, but just in case I decide to make a purchase or to pay for a complete membership. AFTER joining the "free trial," I see that my free membership lasts for 5 days...then they will start charging me around $35 dollars a month. Heck no-I want to cancel. I try to cancel online-just liked I joined, but it will cost me $1. I call the phone number to get someone who says she can't hear me, I'll have to call back. My partner then calls the number and they agree to cancel the membership. I look at my account this morning and see they charged me $2 - $1 for joining, $1 for canceling.Desired Settlement: They should not trick people into giving their card information so that they can use it without permission. We were NOT told over the phone that we would be charged for canceling. That's why I called the number in the first place. Review: I am getting charged $34.95 for a service I NEVER signed up for. I am not an online gamer of any kind and I don't own an e-reader of any sort. Period. I called the customer service folks at www.doitplay.com and they could not provide me any single proof of what I purchased or how I actually got signed up for this. Not to mentioned both agents were extremely rude. I never received any email confirmation from doitplay.com or any one else for that matter when I supposedly signed up for this in August 2013. I want a refund of the $34.95 that I was charged in August. A refund for September, October, November and December is supposedly being processed. But I cancelled by credit card and filed a complaint with my bank and now with the Revdex.com.
