Farm Fresh To You Reviews (71)

Review: I was told by a couple of Farm Fresh to You workers that they would send me information about their services through e-mail. I did not sign any contract and I was surprised to find a box of fruits and vegetables the next week on my front porch. I looked up the business and read reviews upon reviews of similar stories at http://www.yelp.com/biz/farm-fresh-to-you-capay-8 . I had the impression that the first box was free by what the workers told me. I was again surprised two weeks later when I find yet another box on June 10th, sitting on my front porch. I sent an email to [email protected] that same day which contained this: "I was given information from some of your workers that came in while I was working, and they told me about your program. They told me that they would email me and mail me information about your program and how it worked. I was surprised to find a box of fruit and vegetables on my front porch a week later. I never signed up for your services, so I do not know why I am receiving these boxes. I today received another box. I am not going to open it and I want to know why I am being sent these boxes when I did not sign up. I am not going to pay for anything since I did not order anything. I need these boxes to be picked up as soon as possible. I looked up your company and I am not the first person this has happened to. Please contact me ASAP or I will take further measures." I currently have not received a response to my e-mail. I called the next day, June 11, 2014, and the customer service representative told my husband that I had a balance of $56 billed to my account. He then asked him how I wanted to settle the payment, and my husband told him that he refused to pay the company any money because I had never made an account, or signed a contract to agree to their terms and agreements. They had created an account for me without my authorization. Please advise me with any information that could take care of this matter. Thank-you in advanced for you consideration.Desired Settlement: I would like you to investigate their business practices, with other stories located at http://www.yelp.com/biz/farm-fresh-to-you-capay-8 . I would also like for the company Farm Fresh To You to void the bill they are wanting me to pay and take my information out of their system.

Review: A Farm Fresh to You saleswoman lied to me and signed me up for services I did not want.

On 6/27/13 A Farm Fresh to You saleswoman came to my door to sell delivery services for produce boxes. I told her I did not want to order anything that day and I was unsure if wanted their services. She insisted on taking down my email to make a free account so I could receive more information on their boxes. She explained that a payment method was mandatory for the online account, and if I didn't add a payment method within 14 days that my account would be cancelled.

I decided I did not want the produce boxes and let the 14 days pass without adding a payment method online. Three weeks after the saleswoman had come to my door, I received a Farm Fresh to You produce box on my doorstep. After calling and emailing Farm Fresh to You I was told that what the saleswoman told me wasn't exactly true and that I'm responsible to pay for the box. They refused to allow me to return the unwanted produce. I received an invoice (#XXXXXXX) only after requesting one over the phone, unlike most business who send one immediately after receiving an order. I felt terrible throwing away their produce box, but it was something I did not need or want.

As a student, I am concerned this ordeal will damage my credit. I did not want their services and I do not feel comfortable giving Farm Fresh to You any of my billing information, due to their dishonest business practices. Desired Settlement: I want the $25.00 balance on my account to be removed and I want my account to be completely closed.

Business' Initial Response

We are sorry if there was a miscommunication. We ask that customers have a credit card on file within 14 days of signing up, but deliveries do not cease if a credit card is not on file and not putting a credit card on file is not the same as canceling an account.

We have credited Ms. [redacted] $25 and closed her account.

I have tried repeatedly to cancel my service through contacting customer service through their email address , . I am getting no response even though I am requesting an acknowledgement. - very poor business work ethic! I can't recommend them.

Also, the food is not fresh, oranges are dry, lettuce is wilted, often the crop is from older over grown plants. This is why I am canceling.

Review: Every time I received produce from this company they left the box at the end of my 1/2 mile long driveway. I called in every time to complain about not finding the box until it was bad. When food sits out in the sun its enough for one day in the full sun to go bad. They would credit the order and tell me they would leave a note for the driver. I called in with the hopes of getting my order at my house, which sadly never happened.Even after giving the company directions to put the box on my door step. I told the company that I would cancel the service if they could not put the box at my house.I told them I would not pay for rotten food, I was under the understanding that they had credited me for all deliveries. The last delivery I was sent an email saying they where unable to to deliver the package. This is after I called in twice to let them know how to get to my house another way. They never followed my direction to put the box at my house and they never followed the directions to use another route into my property.Farm Fresh caller let me know what they document ever call, yet they could not follow directions on where and how to deliver my boxes. I feel I tried very hard to work with this company to support local farms, but I do not feel paying for rotten produce is fair when they would not deliver the produce to the correct location. I tried to talk to the company on 2/24/14 and they will not credit the charges, even though the charges where said to be covered when I called to complain about finding the box rotten in the sun. I feel I made it clear to bring the boxes to my house and use another route.I feel they are charging for a service they are not giving. They did not call me to address the bill that I thought was null and voided but instead sent it to collections. This is the only reason I knew of it, I contacted the company today and asked to speak to a supervisor and was sent to voice mail. The items did not get to me or come fresh they are wilted and rotten.Desired Settlement: I was told the deliveries where credited to my account but then I get a bill.I wanted the service to bring to my house fresh not to my gate in the sun until they where found. I would like to have the full credit as they said they did unless they would like to bring me the boxes to my house fresh then I have no problem paying for them.I wish they would do as their business name implies " Farm fresh to your doorstep" vs " rotten & sun baked to my gate 1/2 mile from my house"

Response:

Our records indicate that we tried to deliver to the door, but the gate was locked. We did credit her for two boxes, but we feel that we inform customers of their delivery day, and it is their responsibility to make sure a gate is unlocked or that we have a key. We are harvesting, procuring and packing produce based on orders, and we made a good faith effort with this customer by crediting two boxes. Also, she has already paid her bill and the account is closed.

We also ask that customers put a credit card on file within two weeks of starting service, but this customer’s account was canceled because she did not have a credit card on file. These are the notes from our database:

The customer did receive a credit on her account. Customer paid the balance of $123 via a phone call on 2/24/14.

The customer signed up on 9/12/13 and her account shows 5 deliveries @ $44 each with 2 full box credits. There are specific delivery instructions to place the box at the front door and based on driver feedback there appears to have been a problem with a locked gate. We canceled the account on 11/8 for no credit card on file.

We received a customer call on 9/20/13 regarding a delivered box at the gate, which we credited in full.

Driver could not delivery box on 10/25 as gate was locked. We put box over the gate and emailed the customer about the gate being locked but received no response.

Let me know if you need any additional information.

Review: Farm Fresh to You contacted me by phone and asked me if I wanted to restart a previously cancelled service. I consented and then never received the service. They recently contacted me to say that I had an unpaid balance and that my account had been suspended. When I called to inquire about the error the customer service rep said she would do some research and return the call the next day. I did not hear from her for several weeks and when I did it was to tell me that they still expected payment. I did not receive the product and I do not believe I should have to pay for it.

Review: Ordered Promo box from a festival I was at. Upon delivery Items were wilted and rotten.

Customer NO: XXXXXX

While at the Mokesh festival I saw a table to sign up for service. it was sold to me as a free trial. I ordered and upon delivery my box of produce was wilted and rotten. I called in August to cancel so that I didn't recieve anymore and explained the issue. it is now Oct. and I still have a bill. Upon speaking to the rep. on the phone "they are sorry but I still have to pay because its too late," I called before in a reasonable time period to cancel explained to them why I was canceling and they think I'm going to pay for rotten goods. The rep says his notes say that I said I would send a check, which is entirely false! I said no such thing. I will NOT pay for a product that was no good.Desired Settlement: I want my account with this company closed, deleted and at a ZERO balance. I do not owe any money.

Review: This company was at a festival I attended. The man I signed up with told us the first box was free. After we were unhappy with the produce in the box, the company tried to charge us $25. I finally got a manager on the phone, to which she said she cancelled my account. This last week another box was delivered and they charged my account again the $25. I do not want their services.Desired Settlement: I want my $25 to be refunded to me and I want my account deleted from their systems. I do not want any more deliveries.

BUYER BEWARE * BUYER BEWARE * BUYER BEWARE

I'm all about supporting local. I wanted to love this company, I did. I gave the lady my junk email account with the intention to look at their website later. A red flag went up when she wanted my credit card information to "add to my account" and when I said I'd rather look at their website first, she happily moved on. I mentioned we eat more fruits than vegetables and she mentioned a special deal if I signed up via the link she was going to send me... or something like that (after 2 minutes of listening to any solicitor, I half zone out).

Fast forward to this morning when a box arrived on my doorstep filled with fruits, half of which I would not eat because they are not fruits I enjoy and the other half that looked like they were a day away from rottville. With it was a bill for $32.

I called the company. The man I spoke to was immediately rude. He informed me that the email they sent me notified me that by providing my email I agreed to opening an account and that a box would be sent to me. Apparently, the guy said, it was my responsibility to call and cancel the order. What's more is that he had the audacity to tell me this should be a learning experience and that I should be more careful who I give my email to in the future. I was livid. I still am. The way he spoke to me was condescending and manipulative. So much so that I've taken minutes out of my precious nap time hours to write this. Ultimately, he did not want to hear me rant and rave and he hung up on me--something you should never do to a customer, no matter how upset or rude.

I Googled "Farm Fresh To You scam" as soon as I could. I found review after review, three hundred and thirteen of them to be exact, with people describing the same manipulative give-me-your-email-here's-your-fruit-now-pay-for-it scheme. Others simply commented on the poor quality and expensive rates. But the general consensus was "buyer beware and avoid." The Revdex.com has 85 registered complaints with the company, 42 of which are "billing complaints" and 21 "advertising/sales complaints."

Farm Fresh To You serves the following areas in California: Capay, San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Francisco. So beware if you live in any of these areas and some nice person knocks on your door or talks to you at a local market.

Never have I heard of such a scam. The rude man did agree to cancel my account and wave the fee, but that's not what it's about. It's about the principle.

It just goes to show that your means determine your end. I support what their company is doing. I think it's great to have fresh produce delivered straight from local farms for a cheaper rate (well, this is what they say; in reality their prices are ridiculously high--I estimate the $32 box delivered to me would be no more than $7 at a local farmers market... not to mention the poor quality). But using manipulation to build clientele is unethical.

Dear Farm Fresh To You,

Providing an email address is in no way consenting to a service.

Perhaps you could lower the price of your produce by getting rid of the overhead you have to pay your door-to-door manipulators.

Your means determine your end. Please consider how you go about your business.

Thanks.

Review: Farm Fresh is a scam. They use non-ethical, misleading techniques to obtain personal information to create accounts and bill for service that they say is free trial. A Farm Fresh sales representative showed up on my door to tell about their service and asked me for my email and phone number for a FREE trial of a box of fruits and vegetables (worth $33). When the trail box arrived, the grapes were rotten. I did not care much since it was a free trial. However, there was an invoice of $33 in the box. After about a month, they sent us 2nd box which I did not order!. I called them right away and asked them to take the box back and to cancel anything else that was pending. However, Farm Fresh send another bill (total $59) and Farm Fresh representatives started harassing me by making several phone calls and sending emails. Few days ago, they sent an email threatening me by saying that they would send "my bill" to collection agencies! I never placed an order with this company. Farm Fresh started sending produce to my address that I NEVER ORDERED and now they continue to harass me. I owe them nothing.Desired Settlement: (1) Zero out my balance(2) close my account(3) compensate for the harassment and loss of time

Response:

This customer called after her second delivery saying the cost was too high and she did not want the service. There was not a mention of deceptive sales to the agent. This account has been credited and closed.

Review: I agreed to this contract because the sales woman assured me that the first delivery was a free trial of the product. It was not free.

Delivery date 3-29-13. Customer#XXXXXX, Invoice #XXXXXXX, Invoice date 4-22-13. I don't remember the sales rep name, but the company indicated they could look her up. This was a door to door sale, the girl assured me the first delivery is a free promo. Although the paperwork was worded differently, she continued to assure me that they were running a "first box free" promotion for my area. This was the only reason I signed up, to see if the free box was worth $25, with the sales rep assuring me again that "this is why they give out the first box free, because they understand that I would want to know what i'm getting for $25." After receiving the first "free" box, I cancelled service because I can buy my own produce for half the price of what I received. Then received a bill for the "free" box that said I owed $25 on a discount from $31.50. This is my second complaint, I signed up for a free $25 box, not the free $31.50 box (which was an option) I was willing to look into a $25. delivery, but I flat out said no to the $31.50 delivery. This is a dishonest company that is going to give organic produce and farming a bad name! Also, the girl on the phone when I called today to complain (5-15-13) was rude. Desired Settlement: I do not own this company any money. I was lied to and i've been telling friends how great this company is if I could afford their prices, and telling people to try it because they offer a first box for free so you really know what your getting... but I was lied to!! I want my bill cancelled out, I do not owe them $25.00.

Review: FFTY set up stand in health club I wanted more detail they send recurring packages before I could quit their program

FFTY set up stand in health club. I asked the guy for more detail and I indicated I did not want to sign up. I thought I was requesting more info. They sent a package. I figured anyone could make a mistake, I detailed in the bill I sent that I did not want the package. I did not pay. FFTY sent the invoice to a collection agency. Recurring packages like this in that setting are wrong. I think FFTY does it as a scam. Thank youDesired Settlement: refund of $56.00

Review: Many many years ago (2010 or 2011 maybe?), I ordered from this company. They sell and deliver to your house, fresh produce. Their product was awful so I cancelled my account, just a few months after signing up. I thought that was the end of it until several months ago, I received an email from them advising I owed approx. $30. I called and after many phone calls back and forth and getting a supervisor involved, I was told this was resolved and I no longer owed the $30. I do not owe them any money as I never received the box they sent (the charge for the $30) and when I cancelled my account, they cancelled the delivery. A few days ago, I received a letter from a collection agency, CCB Credit Services, for $31.50 from Farm Fresh To You.Desired Settlement: Take the account of collection and advise me in writing that no negative information has been placed on my credit report.

Review: Dear Farm Fresh To You, an organic produce delivery service, called me to find out if I was interested in re-opening my account. I had not used them for quite some time. I let them know that I would go onto their website to see the updates they have made since I had stopped using them and at that point I would decide if I wanted to return as their customer. What may have been a couple of weeks later I received a box on my porch - I did not go to their website as I said I would and I did not order a box of fresh vegetables and fruits. I did not order or approve this order. The box must have sat on our porch (we use the garage for entrance/exit into our home) for days since it was infested with insects and mold. Sadly, I had to throw out all of the food. It had occurred to me that Farm Fresh To You may have sent that 1st box as a complimentary gift. I had no idea that a 2nd box would arrive, but it did. The 2nd box of fruit and vegetables had been on my porch for an unknown amount of time but they were still salvageable. I called and asked Farm Fresh To You to stop sending me food. Justifiably, I am willing to pay for the 2nd box since I was able to use the contents. The 1st box, again justifiably, I will refuse payment. My best, [redacted] K.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Thank you for assisting me in resolving this issue with Farm Fresh To You. This is my first experience using Revdex.com and I am very satisfied. Farm Fresh To You was clearly not understanding my view even though I explained it exactly the same way to them as I did here. Again, thank you to all parties involved in this resolution.

Farm Fresh To You has cashed my check for the portion that I stated I would pay. I will assume everything is settled and I will not continue to hear about a collections agency knocking at my door.

My best,

Review: Sales rep deceptively claimed that the form was only for sharing information and that I would receive an email or brochure regarding their services.

I agree with other complaints on Revdex.com that the company Farm Fresh to You, should be penalized for dodgy sales practices and misinformation by their sales representatives. Since my claim is so similar to others on this site, I will use & modify their words...

A representative from this firm stopped me while running at the park. I told them that I only wanted more information such as a brochure, pamphlet or link to a website. They assured me and so I put down my name and address and was told that they will not start service without authorization and hence did not put down my credit card information down. Inspite of this they ended up starting delivery to my address without authorization or any payment from me. This is clear violation of what I was told. At the least they should have called and got authorization from me that I am ok with their service. All they told me was that I will be on their interest list. This is a clear misrespresentation. These are deceptive sales practices. After calling they agreed to cancel my subscription and to waive the first delivery which I thought was promotional. No email confirming my cancellation of "account" was sent. The rep on the phone told me that they called but a call was never received. An email was received which states "Please understand that if a credit/debit card carrying the Visa or Mastercard logo is not provided within 5 - 7 days the account may be placed on hold." Many days after 7 days of receiving that email they send a second box of vegetables which they are charging me. Again, false claims of putting accounts on hold and withholding delivery is communicated. Like others on this site I am requesting for cancellation/waiving of all fees (after the waiving of the first fee... the remaining $25 for the 2nd delivery should be waived as well) and a cancellation of all services to my non-agreed created account.Desired Settlement: Like others on this site I am requesting for cancellation/waiving of all fees (after the waiving of the first fee... the remaining $25 for the 2nd delivery should be waived as well) and a cancellation of all services to my non-agreed created account.

Final Consumer Response

An invoice with the balance due of $0 along with a comment of "Your account has been credited in full and has been canceled. Thank you!", has been received.

Farm Fresh to You which is not truly a CSA sent me to collections after I requested that my account with them was closed. They had a card on file which they could have charged but instead sent me to collections. I was not told that I could not cancel without this issue upon signing up. Very dishonest and I hope that others are able to see how shady they are before getting involved. They have since put a hit on my credit and I am unable to get this off due to their dishonest practices.

Review: I was solicited by this company at a local festival. They had a variety of vegetables that I use daily displayed on a table. I was told that I could chose whatever I wanted to be delivered. I went home and checked their website. They had nothing that I could use. Nothing that was displayed on their table at the festival was available for delivery until late summer.I sent an email on June 16 stating this and stated that they could contact me late summer as that is, according to their website, when they would have vegetables I could use. I received a package of less than appetizing produce on Tuesday July 2. I immediately called the 800 number. The customer service representative was rude and condescending. He claimed that they never received my email and basically told me that I will be paying for the delivery after I told him that I wasn't paying for something I didn't order.I resent the email to them, 3 times. I also sent another email through their website to cancel me and never contact me again. Their response was a final bill. I never gave any bank information. The service sign up form I received states that a credit card or debit card must be on file within 14 days. My sign up form has the date, June 15. This morning, Sunday July 6, I received a past due bill from them. Aside from this company attempting to extort funds from me, the produce was poor quality and the order was not complete according to the packing list that came with the produce. I have the email I sent them with the date of June 16, 2014. It has the same email address of the emails they have sent and I replied to. The bill is $20. I see that others have complained of this companies questionable business practices.Desired Settlement: Remove charges.

Review: I canceled this account by phone in January. The next month I received a bill for a box that I did not receive. They now say they've canceled the account but they keep sending this invoice for a box I never received nor authorized. After reading all the horrible Yelp reviews and Revdex.com complaints it is clear this is a scam. I'll continue fighting this (and spreading the word) rather than support these tactics with my $46.Desired Settlement: Credit the invoice/ zero out the balance for this box I never received. I don't want anything else from this company.

Business

Response:

The account has a zero balance with Farm Fresh To You. We wrote off the balance on 3/29, with a message left for the customer on 3/30/15, advising that the account has been credited to a zero balance. Customer signed up on 12/8/14 for a box every 4 weeks. After the first delivery on 12/17/14, the customer used our online system to set a vacation hold from 12/18/14– 1/29/15. Once the delivery hold expired the account, the scheduled a box which was delivered on 2/11/15. On 2/11/15, the customer again used the online system to modify the delivery from a traditional CSA to a Fruit Only small box with a start date of4/15/2015. The customer also emailed in stating: “This is my second request. Please cancel this service immediately. I no longer live in California. Please reply with confirmation.” We canceled the account and billed for the last delivery. It appears that the customer may have made the multiple changes to the account in an attempt to cancel the account. Setting a vacation hold does not constitute an account cancelation. As a sign of good faith, we credited the customers box upon learning of their confusion with our system. Review: My first encounter with Farm Fresh company was at an Art & Wine festival in California. Wanting to know about their services, my husband and I enquired about their company. During our conversation, one of the salesrep informed us that they delivered fruits in our neighborhood during the weekdays. But we were no longer interested in their service after we came to know their price and the fact that they delivered on a day, which was not convenient for us. In fact, we had purposely avoided giving our credit card information after we came to know about it. And I clearly remembered telling him that we would like think about it and would place an order if we are still interested after going home, and hence we are not giving our credit card details right away. Never did he ever tell us that once you sign up, you will automatically receive their fruits/veggies and we are to be liable for it. Had we known it, we would have never signed for it in the first place. I was shocked to find a basket at my doorstep the next week and now they are clearly harassing me for making a payment. I have noticed similar complaints on [redacted] as well. And now they have threatened saying that they have sent my information to the collection agency if I do not make a payment within a month.Desired Settlement: I'm NOT going to pay for a service that I never desired/signed up for. And above all, they do not have the right to take any action against me and send my information to the collection agency. I want them to immediately stop contacting me through e-mail, post or by phone.

Response:

We are sorry to hear this from this customer and have closed the account and credited the balance.

Our database notes reflect this:

The customer received one (1) delivery on Friday 9/12/14 and called us the following week on Thursday 9/18 to cancel, stating the reason of “poor value”.

The customer also stated she would call back to pay the balance. With no payment received we continued with our collections process, to include auto emails and a call out to the customer on 10/25. We sent at the customer request a copy of her sign up

([redacted]) on 10/25/14.

Review: Was told this was a promo box I would be able to change delivery products and time. Also told that if it wasn't to my satisfaction I would not pay.

Was at a summer street fair and spoke to a woman about the product and how it all worked with deliveries. I was specific with her because I don't like certain veggies and do a lot of juicing. She said I could change products out anytime. She said this was a promo box and I'd get an email for delivery day and to change out the products. And after I got the product if I liked it I could pay and continue on with the service. The box on display at the fair was very full to the top with fruits and veggies.

When I got home I researched the company website and others like it and I found this one to be more expensive with less choices for products. I received the email confirmation from Farm Fresh and it asked for payment before delivery could happen. It did not give me the option to change out products. Since this is not what I was told would happen I didn't put in my payment information because I didn't want the delivery any longer.

A week or so later I opened up my front door one day to find a box from Farm Fresh. I was totally surprised since the email was misleading saying nothing would be sent until I put in my payment info.

I immediately called the company and said I didn't want this and they could come get it. Much of the food in there I don't eat or like so at least half of it was of no use to me. Plus the box was about half the amount full as was shown at the fair. I heard nothing back from the company and nobody came to get it. 3 or 4 days later I fed some of it to my chickens, ate a few things and threw out some stuff that was going bad. I was surprised at the bad quality of the products especially the apples and watermelon.

Then I started getting bills for $25 for this box! I called and emailed the company again and explained the situation; what I was told at the fair by the woman and that I had called when I found this box had been delivered. I told them that I hadn't put in my payment info in the confirmation email so according to that nothing would be sent. I was told that it does say that but that isn't how it works...they still deliver.

They were not going to give up. I received around 3-4 bills in the mail and emails. I emailed again and said to leave me alone or I would contact the Revdex.com. That was months ago and I have heard nothing...until today! I received a crazy phone message from someone in the company that I could hardly understand a word she said plus I received another bill and email. All on the same day...all this for $25!?

I emailed them back to stop calling and I was now going to do as I said and file a complaint with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: To close my account/invoice as payed in full or dismissed. To delete all my contact information with their company, to remedy any credit issues they may have inflicted on my credit report and to leave me alone!

We apologize for any miscommunication. When people sign our sign-up form, it states next to the signature box that they are signing up for an ongoing service and is very specific about the pricing. That said, we only want customers who truly wanted our service. We have written off the balance of her account. Also, we do not tolerate deceptive sales practices and matters like this are reported to our sales manager.

Review: Farm Fresh to you has turned over a dispuited bill to another company that has started collection actions. The collections company has informed me of 'negative credit reporting' and also that proof of a contract can be gotten with in 30 days of my written request. I have made three requests for the written contract and proof of delevery. I have started a reasonable payment plan for this disputed bill in order to avoid negative credit reporting and until this is resolved. The bill in question with Farm Fresh is not correct and being disputed as being wrong, however they continue collections actitives to harm my credit and will not reply to inquires for copies of contract and proof delivery/service.Desired Settlement: Cease collections actionsRefund of payments madeRetraction of negative credit reporting.

Consumer

Response:

I would like a refund of the payments taken on this complaint, the billing as in error and their collections company demaded payments under the threat of reporting damaging credit information and HAD no proof of contract or delivery to back up the collections. Payment was made under duress
