Revdex.com spoke to the manager at Frees Miles Transmission who provided the following response by phone: Customer called in and inquired about having work done to the transmissionThe customer made them aware that he had been working on the transmission previously, and had hammered in the transmission when he was putting it back into the vehicleHe brought the vehicle in and Free Miles Transmission took it apart, tried to align it, and put it back togetherThey found that the clutch rod was shifting into the transmission, and could not be repaired because once it was put back into place, it would come out of place againDue to the hammering of the transmission, it could not be repairedThe manager of the business stated that he gave that diagnosis to the customer, and said that if the customer would provide the transmission, he would do the labor for freeThe customer was not satisfied with that responseThe manager stated that the reason for the delays were the period right after the holiday season, and the period of snowstorms caused them to not be able to openHe stated that he gave the diagnosis to the customer in March, and since then has been at a standstill because the customer does not want to pay to have a new transmission, and won't authorize the business to buy parts to fix the vehicleThe business stated that the customer has not paid anything at this point, including the time spent diagnosing the issue and taking the transmission apart, aligning it, and putting it back together, and he is welcome to either pick the car up, or accept the business's initial offer

[redacted] Revdex.com Case # [redacted] [redacted] brought his [redacted] in here to us with internal transmissions problems that were confirmed after diagnostic testingOur advertisement is as stated, for "soft parts" overhaulIt was explained to the customer that once we are inside the transmission and see the extent of the damage, we would call with a better idea of what is going onWe did find that there were "hard parts" that needed to be replaced inside of the transmission that were not a part of the original quote, because we did not know until we got inside the unitThese "hard parts" entailed, valve body, forward drum, torque converter and a solenoid packThe customer agreed to the repairs and they were completed and the vehicle was returned to himUpon delivery of the vehicle we recommended to the customer that he get his motor mounts replaced as well as an engine misfire problem, as it is causing a shake in the engineThe customer then returned with some issues regarding the speedometerAt that time the speed sensor had come unpluggedThis was due to the shaking of the engineWe plugged the speed sensor back in and the speedometer was working properlyJust last week, on May the customer brought the car back in with whining sounds that he thought was coming from the transmissionThe shaking problem with the engine misfire and the motor mounts had been fixed and he wasn't experiencing any further problemsAfter diagnosing the sound, and concluding that it is coming from a bad wheel bearing and not the transmission repair that we completed, the customer picked the car back up happy and relieved and said he would get it taken care ofWe explained that if there is ever any problem he encounters to please bring the car back to us and we will take care of himThe car is fixed properly and all other issues have been taken care of Sincerely,

Mr [redacted] brought his vehicle into our shop on 01/09/2018, for transmission repairsUpon on inspection we notice heavy metal gear in the transmissionWe also notice the wheels on the vehicle were not stock wheels, the rear wheels were larger than the front, made to look like a hot rod car The front tires had thread, however, the rear tires were smooth and there were build up of tire debris on the back bumperWhen this happens its because the vehicle is been used for race and burn outsWe spoke to Mr [redacted] and his father several times regarding his transmission repairWe at FREE MILES TRANSMISSION pride ourselves on being professional, we do NOT use our customers are for personal joy rides or take them out of shop unless its for a road test which we only go around ONE block a few times here on [redacted] in Richmond to ensure the vehicle is repaired Mr [redacted] stated someone he trusted saw his car in Colonial Heights I can assure that person is not to be trustedMr [redacted] is a young man who enjoys his car as he should but it should not be at someone else expense

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below [Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] [redacted] ***

Revdex.com spoke with the manager of the business, TonyHe said that the customer had called about an issue with his vehicle, and it was not operational so Free Miles had it towed inThe business offers free towing with service, but if the service is not performed at their business, the customer would be responsible for the towingThe issue was found to be the transmission, and diagnosed as $1,for parts and labor, but customer was advised that once the transmission breakdown was done, other issues may be foundOnce the transmission breakdown occurred, other issues were found, and the customer was given an updated quote of about $The customer said that this price was too much and he didn't want to invest that much in the vehicleThe manager said that in an effort to bring the price down, they offered to do re-manufactured parts rather than new parts, which would bring the price down to a little over 2200, but would shorten the warranty from to years due to remanufactured partsThe customer was not satisfied with either of these options, and said that he was going to leave the car there and threatened the business with a law suitThe manager states that he has not heard from the customer since thenThe manager said that if the customer does not want to have the work done there, he would be responsible for the towing of the vehicle per their policy, and that he would also be responsible for the labor required to perform the breakdown of the transmission, all of which would come out to about $The vehicle is still at the business taken apart, and at this point the customer is responsible to pay the fees and have it removed

Revdex.com spoke to a representative from the business who said he was not familiar with the customer since it's been several monthsHe said that if the customer's parts are still under warranty he is welcome to bring his vehicle back for repairHe said that he is not aware of any current issues with the vehicle and is therefore not able to address those current issues

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below First of all I have all the phone calls recodedIncluding the last one when he theathen me that he will get a tag and sell my carI have the right to tell him that I will go to business Bureau of he does not want to treat me appropriately as a customerHe threat was unprofessional and I have it recorded. My argument was I suppose not to pay the full labor amount if I refused the work to be done on my car over a hight estimateAlso Tony specifically said towing is free and never disclose that it is only if I accept to have my car fixed. The solution I am looking for is to provide me with a more logical bill to get my car backI am willing to pay for the towing to bring my car homeKeep the transmission open and please dont put it back like I stated over the phoneIn addition I don't see it is fair to pay the full labor amount for no work that has been doneIn a mormal sitiation I I'll be willing to pay $ for the service of providing me an estimateBut because the owner treathen me and was not polite to me as customer and said that he would get the tags and sell my car, I owe an apology for that and want my car back without paying any estimate service feeI can provide the recored phone call if needed so I am positive where I currently stand.Thank you Regards, [redacted]

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
The first time I brought my vehicle back and it was low on oil and not running right I told *** that being that I paid *** + they should most certainly still look over my fluids and make sure that things are properly put back in their placeI was told by *** that the vacuum was detached and could have been overlooked by the people who placed the transmission back in the vehicleHe emphasized that they only focus on the transmission and sometimes make mistakes like thatNo one would be okay with this response, including myselfHow am I to know that their negligence with placing my transmission back in my car didn't cause the vacuum to rot or other issues that seemed to spring out of no where? It's clear and was stated to me how they ONLY focus on transmissions so when the forgot to plug my vacuum, didn't check my fluids and countless other things, there is no telling what else they completely overlooked that caused all of this.

Revdex.com spoke to a representative from the business who said he was not familiar with the customer since it's been several monthsHe said that if the customer's parts are still under warranty he is welcome to bring his vehicle back for repairHe said that he is not aware
of any current issues with the vehicle and is therefore not able to address those current issues

On March 21, we received a call from this customer asking us for transmission information and pricing concerning his *** *** ***We asked him to bring in his vehicle to our shop for a free road test, free computer diagnostic test and free transmission check to help up properly
identify his problem before we could make a price estimateThat same day, he brought in his carHe and *** went together for a road test, where *** heard noises from the left end, noises coming from exhaust and that the vehicle wasn’t going into overdrive which meant it needed transmission workOur customer did say they wanted to keep the price at *** or less*** quoted him ** for a basic overhaul that includes, seals, washer, gaskets, bushing, steel, clutch update in the valve body and labor*** Then explained that hard parts and electric parts would be an additional cost but there would be no way to determine if they were needed until the transmission was pulled out of the vehicle and they could not see what of, if any hard parts were damagedOur customer signed our “internal diagnostic service authorization form” before he left which states that he was informed of additional charges and price estimates
We called back for work authorization March 24, 2014, and told him that the transmission check and diagnostic test revealed he needed the transmission rebuilt kit with labor (already quoted on 3/21/14) $plus additional items which were needed to complete the mount of the transmission; Transmission Pump, Planetary Assembly, Torque Convertor, Fluid Filter, and a solenoid, all brand new parts with a month/100,and months/12,miles warranty together brings the subtotal to $plus tax is $Our customer chose to use remanufactured parts which dropped the total to $with the same warrantyOn top of the transmission, there were also problems with the axle and amount which needed to be replaced*** offered to order and repair these damaged parts as well if the customer wanted him tooThe customer told us that they would bring s the parts themselves and to only work on the transmissionOn March 25, our customer made a complaint to the Revdex.comThe following morning, March 26, 2014, our customer came in and was very upset about the cost to rebuild his transmissionHe wanted to speak with *** took him into his office and again discussed the break down of parts and pricing to complete his transmission workDuring this meeting our customer understood and agreed to the price and signed his signature in agreementAfter the signed authorization we were able to order the necessary parts to start any complete the agreed transmission workOver the next three days the technicians completed the transmission work but we still hadn’t heard any word of the axel and the mountAfter learning knowledge of the customer’s misunderstanding, *** ordered and replaced the drive axel (which was brand new) and repaired the exhaust for freeThose two repairs elimated the notes “front end noises” during the initial road test and were a $*** charge that were free to our customerAfter the weekend, the morning of March 31, 2014, I contacted the customer to notify him that his transmission work was finished and he could pick up his vehicleHe said he would pick it up the next dayAs agreed, he came to pick up the *** this morning, April 1, In a very angry and derogative demeanor, he requested to drive the vehicle and demanding financing informationHe then test drove his vehicle with one of our technicians and said he was very pleased with the workHe came in and paid $*** cash and walked outSince this morning, he has been contacted via phone by *** and seems be happy with the work done to his vehicleAt Free miles Transmission, we are always looking for ways to elevate the standards and services we provide, and we appreciate any opportunity to hear from our customersWe sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding, confusion and headaches that this has caused

Revdex.com spoke with *** from the businessthe business's credit options are financing or a title loan of the customer is not able to receive financing optionsThe title Loan option is part of the financing optionsAt this time the customer's vehicle is ready to be picked up and paid forThe business
would offer a payment plan for the remaining balance to work with the customer

The company spoke with Revdex.com over the phone and provided the following information: Free Miles Transmission had the vehicle towed to their shop, as it was not moving when they received itThey explained to the customer that they would have to take apart the transmission to determine
what was wrong with it, and that it would be $to take it apart and diagnose the issues. They did take it apart and found that the transmission was bad, and said that the price to rebuild the transmission would be $2600, and that price would include the $diagnosisThe son and mother said that the son was a student and was only working part time, and couldn't afford to have the work done, but they didn't want to part with the vehicle since he had purchased it himself and put money into it, and it was his first carThe business gave him a break on the price to be $totalThe business stated that they work with several financing companies, and tried to work with them on financingNeither the mother nor the son were approved for financingThe business suggested a title loan, if they had a title, which turned out not to be a good option for them. At that point, they could've paid the $and not had further work done to the vehicle, but the son really wanted to keep it, so they decided to proceed. The business set up a payment plan with them, and they paid small amounts periodically, which took them months to pay the entire vehicle off. The transmission had been rebuilt, but not installed until the work had been paid off entirelyWhen they did finish making the payments and wanted to take possession of the vehicle, the business had the car worked into the schedule, and had the transmission installed and the vehicle ready within daysThe customers took possession of the vehicle within days of paying it off, and he has not had contact with them since

Revdex.com spoke with the manager of the business who provided the following information: He said that he rebuilt the transmission a year ago, and it was nearly a year later before the customer returned with issuesHe said that he found that the transmission was not the issue, and that there was an
electrical issue with the vehicle as the electrical components of the vehicle communicate with the transmission and that is what is causing the issueHe said that he explained this to the customer and advised her to take the vehicle to an electrician as it was not something he was able to correctHe said that he also informed her that continuing to drive the vehicle while the electrical components were malfunctioning could potentially damage the transmissionHe also stated that the customer does still have a warranty and if she is having transmission problems he can take care of them for her, but she would have to correct the electrical issues first

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. This is a complete lie. We were never offered the option to pay $and take our car home. The business never offered us any kind of break from $to $2290. The business never set up with any formal payment plane. After paying $the transmission still slips and jerks and he is planning to take it back but is afraid of not having transportation to and from work. these individuals constantly told us the car was finished over a month eriod and threatened us with storage fees if we didn't pick it up. They only fixed it and got it back to us when Channel news got involvedRegards,*** ***
