Review: Put my vehicle in this shop for repair related to issues while still under warranty. Vehicle went in shop first week of Feb. Todays date is 4/9. They never contacted me about the status of my vehicle and how things were going, but when I call no one is available, or we get a story about a part being ordered. On 4/3 I called and was informed that my truck was almost finished and would be test driven on Monday at the latest. I received no call on Mon or Tues. On 4/8 I called and no one would talk to me or give me the status of the vehicle. I visited the shop and the first thing I noticed was that my vehicle was parked by the fence on the back of the property, and wouldn't even start. When I spoke to the manager he stuck to his story. Which is hard to believe seeing that my vehicle was sitting by the fence with numerous vehicle in front of it.Desired Settlement: Want my vehicle fixed correctly. Or a refund to get someone else to fix it.

Review: I'll describe the steps that lead to the issue I am having with this shop. and them I'll conclude with the issue I am having.

1- During my initial call to the autoshop the owner convinced me that he can tow my car for free to his shop to check and fix my transmission for an estimate of $1090.

2- The owner asked my authorization to open the transmission so he can give me a correct estimate.

3-He received the quote by email of the total of $2805.19 claiming that 5 additional parts need replacement. the parts is what jumped the quote from $1090 to $2805.19.

4- I have suggested to buy the parts myself to save some money but he refused claiming that the warranty will be voided.

5- I said that I no longer want to fix my car because the cost is too high and it is not worth fixing it.

6- He convinced me again that he will check with his technicians and see if they can reduce the price

7- He told me over the phone that the reduced price is $2242.89.

8- The owner failed to explain to me what portion of the quote was reduced while he is confirming to me over the phone that all the parts that I was quoted for will still be purchased

9- I asked him to send me the new reduced quote by e-mail so I can compare it with the original quote.

10- It took me many attempts over 3 weeks calling the shop every week reminding them that I am waiting for the new quote..

11- Surprisingly the first thing I notice was one of the parts that he claimed it need to be replaced was missing from the updated quote (the Colenoids ($299)). The rest of reduction was because of the adjusted parts price.

Issues

- The owner misled me with the parts that needs to be replaced.

- Over the phone he told me the final amount I need to pay to get my car back without a fix includes is $725. Includes the towing and the full labor amount that I was quoted with originally.

- he refused to email me The final bill to review in writing and threatened me that instead he will get a title from dmv and sell my car.Desired Settlement: I would want the person to tow my car back leaving the transmission with its original parts open and untouched or replaced. As a customer I want a fair service and price because I felt misled and overcharged and that I am basically trapped and also was threatened to lose my car for not fault of mine . My intention after this resolution is to make sure that the parts he quoted me that needs to be replaced are really needed and if not I am planning to take a legal action.

Revdex.com spoke with the manager of the business, Tony. He said that the customer had called about an issue with his vehicle, and it was not operational so Free Miles had it towed in. The business offers free towing with service, but if the service is not performed at their business, the customer would be responsible for the towing. The issue was found to be the transmission, and diagnosed as $1,095 for parts and labor, but customer was advised that once the transmission breakdown was done, other issues may be found. Once the transmission breakdown occurred, other issues were found, and the customer was given an updated quote of about $2800. The customer said that this price was too much and he didn't want to invest that much in the vehicle. The manager said that in an effort to bring the price down, they offered to do re-manufactured parts rather than new parts, which would bring the price down to a little over 2200, but would shorten the warranty from 3 to 1 years due to remanufactured parts. The customer was not satisfied with either of these options, and said that he was going to leave the car there and threatened the business with a law suit. The manager states that he has not heard from the customer since then. The manager said that if the customer does not want to have the work done there, he would be responsible for the towing of the vehicle per their policy, and that he would also be responsible for the labor required to perform the breakdown of the transmission, all of which would come out to about $720. The vehicle is still at the business taken apart, and at this point the customer is responsible to pay the fees and have it removed.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First of all I have all the phone calls recoded. Including the last one when he theathen me that he will get a tag and sell my car. I have the right to tell him that I will go to business Bureau of he does not want to treat me appropriately as a customer. He threat was unprofessional and I have it recorded. My argument was I suppose not to pay the full labor amount if I refused the work to be done on my car over a hight estimate. Also Tony specifically said towing is free and never disclose that it is only if I accept to have my car fixed. The solution I am looking for is to provide me with a more logical bill to get my car back. I am willing to pay for the towing to bring my car home. Keep the transmission open and please dont put it back like I stated over the phone. In addition I don't see it is fair to pay the full labor amount for no work that has been done. In a mormal sitiation I I'll be willing to pay $200 for the service of providing me an estimate. But because the owner treathen me and was not polite to me as customer and said that he would get the tags and sell my car, I owe an apology for that and want my car back without paying any estimate service fee. I can provide the recored phone call if needed so I am positive where I currently stand.Thank you

Review: on 4/10 2015 my grandmother used her credit card over the phone to authorize payment for my vehicle [redacted] transmission for $2000. At the time the vehicle was repaired I paid a little over $900 when the car was finish. About a week latter my grandmother got her bank statement and it showed that the repair shop made 2 more purchases unauthorized for other vehicles on 4/13/2015 for $700 and 4/14/2015 for $381.79. At first the mechanic Joshua apologized and said it was a mistake and he would have it taken care of and refunded back to my grandmothers account but now the representatives at this shop says they aren't responsible and the know nothing about the charges even though it clearly states that the charges were done at there shop.Desired Settlement: return the 1081.79 back to my grandmothers credit card

At this time, I have not been contacted by Free Miles Transmission and Auto Care regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Regards,

Review: The complaint is for taking money for a service they said was complete but was not. Also the amount of time after they said it would be ready - I still don't have the truck. Now, they say the truck is missing other parts and that it sat outside without being locked up so they don't know if someone stole the parts. [redacted] the owner/manager of the company picked up the truck on 3/11 and then called on 3/17 to say that the truck would be ready to go tomorrow meaning on the 3/18. He wanted to clear up payment for the truck of $2450 - we paid in full the next day only to find out the truck was not ready. We called back the following week and [redacted] said not ready but promised it would be ready on Thursday 3/20. When we called back there is now a boy working there named [redacted] who says that the parts are not in. We asked what parts..... [redacted] just replied with Truck would be ready on Monday 3/23 - we called back an truck not ready just finished test driving it... something else wrong with transmission be ready 3/26 - no truck ready be ready on 3/30... transmission installed something else wrong - we were suppose to have all new parts... truck not ready still today and now they are saying it's missing the muffler and cataleic converter. This whole time they have the money for the entire job.Desired Settlement: We want the truck repaired completely with new parts like they said and with warranty and a refund of some of the money since they did not deliver - also want police report filed about he missing parts since they did not lock up the truck while in their possession. they should replace the muffler and caterleic converter.

Response:

Revdex.com spoke with the manager of Free Miles Transmission who said that the work had been completed and the customer picked up the vehicle several weeks ago and hasn't heard anything from her since and is not aware of any further issues with the vehicle.
