Fast, fair, friendly. Admittedly, I pay $240 for an annual service program, but that $240 covers lots of basic service for my 3-furnace system, includes 2 drain cleanings a year (which my old house occasionally needs), and so on. Every time someone visits, they're courteous. I will say that there have been a few 'upsell' experiences, were somebody tries to convince me I need larger work done. In fact, Kristi F's experience with 'Mike' (in a review below) jibes with my experience with Mike -- lots of attempts to sell me more stuff. But the vast majority of the folks who visit are great. Most recently, Bo (Beau?) visited to unclog my partially-clogged waste pipe (it's an old house) and because I had a service contract, the cost was $0. And Bo was incredibly kind and helpful.

Paul thank you so much for your candid feedback! I can assure you that Mike no longer works here and that we strive for each experience with us to be like the one with Beau! We will be sure to share with him that you spoke highly of his visit!

A total disaster – unethical, dishonest, grossly overcharged!! I write this review as a warning to customers who need plumbing services. I hired Friendly Plumber to install a new boiler for a radiant heat system a couple of years ago. They did an OK job, very expensive, and left the boiler room a mess. Two years later I had issues with the system and discovered that my water heater had been accidentally damaged during other construction. I called Friendly Plumber again because they were familiar with the system. Mike came out to give me a bid. He presented himself as the most honest, religious individual - dropping LDS phrases constantly. He apologized as he left me with a bid that would have choked a horse, told me that the cost of each heat pump was $1800, etc. (actual cost: $158)
(I should have gotten a second bid but this home was a rental and I needed to provide heat and hot water for the tenants as soon as possible.) The work was done and I paid the bill. Six weeks later more issues arose. Mike came out again. After contacting Jason at the main office, and through a facade of apology and frustration, told me that none of my plumbing parts were under warranty. He said it would cost $21,000 to replace the 2-year-old system!! He went on to explain that it should never have been installed as there was a 45% fail rate on these units. He tried to show me how "fair and generous" Friendly Plumber was by crediting me what I had already paid for the unit AND contributing $2500 out of his own pocket. That would leave me with "only" $7200 for a new system. I did not approve the work and told him I would have to think about it. He called a few days later and asked if he could put $9000 on the credit card that was on file with Friendly Plumber - something about needing to pay for the parts. At this point, I had already called the manufacturer (Noritz) and learned that ALL of the parts were under warranty and that the entire system cost about $2,000. I also learned that Mike had already ordered the part and had it sent to his home – EVEN THOUGH I AUTHORIZED NONE OF THIS.
I could go on and on about the shenanigans that continued with him and this company. I contacted a couple of other plumbers. One of those other plumbers had the entire problem fixed for $300 in labor, using a part that WAS under warranty, that I acquired myself by calling Noritz' corporate office. The Noritz employee also clued me in to the gross overcharges that I paid Friendly Plumber throughout the previous 2.5 years. For example, a heating pump that Mike said cost $1800. was $158.
Friendly Plumber went back and "discovered" that I had been overcharged by 100% or approximately $6000 on the most recent job. I requested an itemized bill from the previous work. It took a couple of weeks and multiple iterations for the bill to be broken out and adjusted with corrections. After a couple of weeks of frustrating back-and-forth, they agreed to reimburse me the overcharges on that one project. Of course, they kept their original 45% markup / $545 per hour. Really??? They did not acknowledge any financial responsibility for the sham that I gratefully discovered. In short, Friendly Plumber wasn't out anything. I wish I could put a sign on their trucks to warn potential customers.

Technician was courteous, respectful and helpful to a point; however he couldn’t resolve problem and it required a master electrician next day at a much greater expense. But problem was easily solved and first technician could have easily fixed it and should have. The fix should not have required the master and excessive cost.

We had service for loss of hot water and was billed $11,883. When I was presented with the invoice I requested a breakdown on costs/fees/service. I have requested this many many many times with a response "we can't break down our work as our system doesn't allow it". I have since learned that the charges are not only excessive they are exorbitant by the degree of at least $8,000. I have also been told that the response of unable to breakdown costs is also untrue. I have quotes from other reputable companies which match almost to the dollar. One company has put the costs in writing and are willing to testify to the extreme charge by Friendly. I have another invoice from work at another property which has not only been confirmed as excessive the products installed are not what was represented as "top of the line".

After receiving the concerns from ***, we have looked into our estimating process. We have found discrepancies that have been tied to one specific employee. That employee has since been removed from the company. We have contacted Ms. and are working on a resolution that requires us to reevaluate three previous invoices for work performed by our past employee. The delay in response is due to our management team finding the root of these concerns. We have a follow up call with Ms. this week to discuss a resolution.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

We have been playing telephone tag due to my severe illness. However I have requested a response to the letter attached documenting the discrepancies for cost of services as the refund offer is not appropriate based on the documentation and accounting I provided. I don't believe providing documentation from other vendors applies at this time as clearly the information provided more than justifies itself. Jason has repeated that Friendly Plumber Heating and Air charges are higher than industry norms, yet the invoice in question I believe is far outside even their own charges for the reasons documented and already acknowledged in part.

Sincerely

This was the second time we've used Friendly Plumbing. Adam did a fantastic job resolving our plumbing issues last weekend and everything is working great! We'll definitely call Friendly Plumbing again!

Thanks ***! Adam is awesome! We appreciate you sharing your experience as alway!

I asked that they call with price before any service was performed on my son's washing machine drain. They said they could not pre-quote a price because they were unsure how accessible the drain was. (FYI, the drain was VERY easily accessible.) . Once at my son's apartment, they DID NOT call, and charged $250 for 20 min drain snake.
UNPROFESSIONAL...Took advantage of a college-aged kid.
THIEVES...$750/hour rate.

I apologize that there was a miscommunication! If you feel we have not resolved this issue in our phone calls since this incident please reach out if you have any more questions! Thank you for being so understanding and allowing us to make it right!

The technician recommended to replace my entire HVAC system, when the only issue was that the refrigerant needed to be recharged. Complete waste of a diagnostic fee.

Friendly Home Services Response • Sep 10, 2019

it is our policy to give all options for repair or replacement when a significant repair is needed. Often the cause of a refrigerant leak is something that needs a larger repair or even a replacement which may have initiated the options given. If you feel this was a mistake please call us to discuss as our customer satisfaction is of the upmost importance!

A moment of awkwardness resulted in an honest diagnosis, speedy repair and savings over a competitor's quote.
My A/C decided to go kaput on a recent, warm Saturday morning. I put out several calls to various air conditioner repair outfits, placing my name on several waiting lists. And, two technicians arrived at nearly the same time. The first had gone through diagnostics, targeting my compressor unit as the culprit. Quoting me $2100 and a 5-day parts lead-time.
So, as getting this quote from the first, HVAC Tech Jarom Durfey with Friendly Plumbing shows. Herein lies that awkwardness as I had not had time to cancel off other waiting lists. But, Jarom offers a second opinion diagnosis, ID's only the capacitor as a goner, replaces and had me up and running within minutes at a fraction of the former quote.
I'm not one to badmouth a company for one missed diagnosis thus shall not name them, but glad for Jarom's / Friendly's honest diagnosis. My advice; choose whom you choose, but from my experience, allow Friendly Plumbing a second opinion - if not first choice for a diagnosis & repair. This example of integrity goes a long way with me.

Very professional and explained what they were doing, cost, and mechanic s in detail. I appreciate the kindness's and communication! I would recommend them. Thank you.

Friendly Plumbers were recommended to me by a friend in December 2018 when we had a main line sewer problem. Although no one wants to deal with sewer line problems, and all of our old appliances deciding to die at the same time, we have been very pleased with this company and each employee we’ve met! I highly recommend them and suggest taking advantage of the Service Plan program to take a proactive approach to maintaining home appliances and repairs. They are professional, honest, reliable, very responsive and, of course, very friendly. Thanks to Taylor who came out today to check on our A/C - it’s nice to work with professional and honest repair people and you and the whole team have earned our trust and respect! Thanks!

Fantastic professionalism, customer service and patience!!! This company is my go-to plumbers.

Lived up to the name Taylor was polite, thorough and explained options without being too pushy in promoting their offers.

Charles bent over backwards to help me, and did a great job!

Excellent service and friendly technician. I have used them several times and have never been disappointed. You can’t go wrong with these guys!

Taylor *** was very personable and professional. Went over all of our systems and explained the issues, potential issues and the pros/cons of taking action on each. Answered some of my other tangential questions too. Kept the place clean -- put on booties in the house.
