Following is an extract of a letter I hand delivered to the Gazette on
August at 4:pmNote that the Gazette will say that their office closes at pmI did not check their hours in advance and found a woman at the desk who took the envelope in which I indicated the below with indicated attachments
-----
To: Gazette Circulation
Reference 1: Your attached billing statement (copy) dated August 02, indicating I owe the Gazette $
Reference 2: Gazette email to me of May indicating "Your renewal was due on 05/28/2017"
Reference '2', albeit misstated, indicates as of said date my subscription expired
I sent 'Customer Care' an email (attached hardcopy) on July indicating I had twice 'cancelled' my subscription Please note that this correspondence, although in email format will be delivered to your office in hardcopyIt will not be sent by email although your apologies certainly can be
By now you can see I did not renew a subscription and by

We have paid for a subscription to the Gazette which currently runs to February but are moving from the area and would like a refund of the unused balance of the subscription but the Gazette has refused to return the unused portion of the subscription We are only asking that they return the money for which goods will not be provided

I am writing this review in regards to the billing pratices of "The Gazette." I subscribed to the daily delivery of the newspaper for a specific period of timeAt the conclusion of this time the paper continued to arrive without my approvalRecently I received a bill for the days the paper was delivered without my consentI feel that this is an underhanded way of generating revenue when the product is no longer desired Am I obligated to pay for a product I did not order? What if I was out of town during this time? Papers piling up in the driveway sends a message to would be criminals of the current status of that home As "The Gazette" has a monopoly in this town this complaint will probably go unnoticed I wish there was an alternative daily newspaper for the community

was approached by a sales team, promised sales ads and coupon inserts worth hundreds of dollars in grocery/household needs savings, paper did not start when promised, called customer service, answering machine only was promised a call back, days later still no call, message anything, way to treat a new customer you think? Wednesday paper, Sundays so far, only sales ad in Wednesday, no coupons at all in the Sundays, these people are feeding a massage line of falsehoods to get them to subscribe, you cannot cancel online you have to call their office and no option on their automated service to cancel either, more harassment for the consumer

I was solicited to subscribe to The Gazette at the *** grocery store on Sunday, 5/21/I was not informed that there was a minimum of months to subscribe or I had to pay for the whole service if I canceled before thatNot only did I not receive the paper that should have been delivered starting today, per my account, but when I called to cancel (because my family decided this was not something that was useful to us), I was told that this was in the fine print "on the back" of what I signedBut what I was presented to sign was on a tablet, and there was no "back"I received a confirmation email that stated the terms could be found at separate links - one of which specifically mentioned the cancellation policy (***)(***)I reviewed these links prior to contacting Customer Support, and nowhere in this link was the 3-month minimum mentionedSo this information was NEVER provided to me

They gave me a years subscription and then only gave me monthsThen they sent me a renewal notice after the months and said I had to renew because my subscription ran outI cancelled immediately and now they have sent me a bill for $for papers delivered after they said my subscription expired but before the year was upDo they not realize that without subscribers that they will lose their advertising base and lose more money

The Gazette's customer service routinely deceives patrons wishing to cancel their subscriptions, according to my experience and reviews from othersThey're representatives say they will cancel subscriptions without doing so and place the burden on the customer to call back and sort things out without any offering a refundFurthermore, they only accept cancellations by phone, so a customer must go through this tedious and costly process

My mother, Mary ***, went to an assisted living facility in April, She called the Gazette and said she wanted to cancel and get a refund for the rest of her prepaid year They said she couldn't get a refund, so she told them to finish out the prepaid year, then cancel In September, 2017, the Gazette auto renewed her and charged her American Express for a whole new year I called the day after she got her*** bill and spoke to a very nice young man I told him there was a mistake, and he said "no problem" and promised to refund the charge A month went by and it wasn't removed, so I called back A very unpleasant lady answered and said they never gave refunds I explained that it should never have been auto-renewed since Mom cancelled in April She said she would have to go back and listen to the audio recordings of the call In November I still hadn't heard back from her, so I called her again She said she hadn't had time to listen to the recording, but she wouldn

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PAPER!
We did a promo that was going on at a local king soopers HUGE MISTAKE!
I knew we had to call and cancel or it would auto renewI literally called a week after we signed up to make sure that we would have it canceledThe women was EXTREMELY rude about me canceling and tried to talk me out of itdifferent ways
Finally I had to be rude back and say to Cancel it
Just know that they also bill you dollars a month for the online edition or some digital crap that they fail to mentionI sent numerous emails and never got a response back about other issues we were havingI would also recommend when you call them to set your phone to record the phone call so they can not claim that you didn't cancel when you called or some BS they are a very shady company
Do yourself a favor and just go buy a sunday paper if you want one for the coupons or whateverThis is a hassle and a the stay is horribly rude. They will scam you and "Claim" you never called

Subscribed to newspaper through a kiosk at the *** Festival held in early December I understood the three month commitmentMy bank account was charged $on March 3, Since I am no longer staying in Colorado Springs, I called to cancel the paper and get a refund of the $I have fulfilled the month obligation before thisThe refund request was deniedThe company has collected a full month subscription and are not going to providing the paper

kept getting papers and bills for them AFTER my subscription expired.....was told I had to physically call them directly to actually cancel my subscription and that a subscription expiration was not enough to terminate the paper deliveries and billing for them....I don't have to do this with ANY other subscription services like magazines etc....they told me they sent me mail notices about this but when you see a letter from The Gazette with "subscription renewal" on it, and you are not intending to renew, in the trash it goes without further review....I feel their policy to continue delivery AFTER a subscription expires, with THEIR cancellation notice policy "on page in tuesdays paper" and in a subscription renewal offer fine print is certainly disingenuous and unethical....MY cancellation notice is that my bill was fully paid in advance and its MY option to not continue if I choose, without having to jump thru their "fine print" hoops....had I actually been aware that this was their

This company is the worst to deal withHad trouble getting the paper delivered so had called and canceled it in DecThought we were done with them but come Febof the paper starts showing up in our driveway on Sundays??? Weird we thought they were just trying to lure us backThen get an e-mail this week stating we owe them $$$ or will be sent to collectionsCalled and told them when we had canceled it last year, they had a record of it but since we had $$ left in the account they took it upon them selves to open our account againNow that is fraud and they should be held accountable for trying to say I owe money after seeing that I had called and canceled it last yearHow can a business take it upon themselves to open a persons account without permissionNEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY

They refuse to honor my subscription renewal of wks that I pd on 7-21-They say they notify me daily on pgof the newspaper that my term may be shorter due to special editions and therefore don't need to send me a notice by mailThis was never mentioned on my renewal statement from them back in The new renewal ends 6-24-That's only 48wks of newspapersI pd for 52wksI can't opt out of these special editions and they refuse to extend my date or refund any moneyThey are cheating the customer of services they pay for

Gazette has been charging for receiving a Wed/Sun paper even though they have never ever delivered itTried calling Gazette and was put on hold for minutes by automated system and hung upRecently received a voicemail from Gazette that even though my credit card was deactivated (due to security chip) that they were still keeping an active balance

I got the paper started on 6/14/and they took out of my bank Account $on 6/15/the paper took out of my bank account again $on 6/16/the paper took out of my Bank account $on 6/19/the paper took out of Bank account $again and I put a stop on the Bank Card and stop the paper but they refused to stop the paper also now I have over Drafts on my Bank account because the paper would not stop taking money out of my bank in the amount of $they were very nasty at the News paper when I called them now the paper owes me a total of $they took out of my bank

After yearly subscription expired/ran out, we decided not to subscribe again We did not closely monitor end-of-srevice date & so were, according to business, "extended" for some time after our annual subscription ran out They billed us about $for this unspecified and not ordered subscription period
Calls to Gazette resulted in "Pay UP."
Request: (1) Cancellation of charges for non-ordered subscription period, & (2) discontinuance of this marginal business practice

I called The Gazette on January 29, 2018, to cancel my subscription on the expiration date noted on my bill, February 4, I was told if I cancelled today, I would owe a balance of $Asked how that could be, it is before cancellation date? They advised on the back of the bill it states that special editions will affect your expiration dateThe bill doesn't indicate how it affects your expiration dateI spoke to a supervisor, they stood behind their subscriber informationI feel they should make this clear on their billingIf it affects your bill, it should show a different expiration dateI feel this is an unfair billing practice
The section on the back of the bill states...All home delivery will include Special Editiomore than per calendar yearThe special charge for these Special Editions will be $per and will affect the expiration dateIf you prefer not to receive these Special Editions, you may opt-out of these Special Editions by contacting Customer

Visited the Gazette table they had set up inside of the Safeway grocery store in Falcon,Co on 04 October 2013 and I also entered into a drawing they were having for a $500.00 shopping spree they were advertising and sign up for the paper. I expressed that I only wanted the Sunday paper, she tried to push for the 7 day delivery and I stated again I only needed the Sunday paper, we finally came to agreeement.

The Gazette Rep checked off the information on the credit card slip which indicated Sunday only and that my debit card would only be deducted $5.00/per month for Sunday only and wrote down my debit card number and expiraton date, I received a copy of the receipt and was on my way.

I noticed on 11 October 2013 that $12.99 was deducted from my checking account from the Gazette and no paper had been delieverd to date. I called the Gazette on 11 October 2013 to find out why $12.99 was deducted and I was informed by [redacted] that what she was seeing in the computer system is that I signed up for the 7 day delivery which was incorrect, the slip I received clearly states Sunday only $5.00/monthly. She informed me that she corrected it in the system to read Sunday only and that my account would be credited and that I would start to see the $5.00 deduction starting January of 2014.

I called back on 17 November 2013 and spoke to [redacted]. I had yet to receive the paper to date and I signed up over a month ago. [redacted] stated that the delivery representative for the area would be notified. I expressed that I was not happy with the Gazette and wanted to cancel the service all together and requested a refund. He informed me that he placed a note in the system to have the refund process started and that I should see one in about 6-8 weeeks.

I called again 08 December 2013 to check status of my refund to make sure that the refund process was indeed initiated and I was informed that he had not. I informed the phone representative again of the situation and she informed me that refunds cannot be given for amounts $5.00 and under and I explained again the situation and was informed by her, again that the refund process would need to be initiated and that a manager would need to get involved and that a manager would call me back, no manager has ever called me.

I called back again 07 April 2014 and spoke to [redacted], explained the story again and was informed again that the refund process was never initiated, a manager would need to approve and that a manager would call me back. I was also informed that once the refund was approved I should expect to see a refund in about 7-10 business days. No manager ever called me and have yet to see a refund.

Called again today 24 June 2014 and spoke to [redacted] and was told the same story of refunds are not givein under $5.00, a manager needs to approve it and that I would receive a call back from a manager. I informed [redacted] that $12.99 was deducted not $5.00 and that is a rude example for customer service.

I am very disappointed in the Gazettes and how they train employees to give customers the run around. I want my refund orf $12.99. I never received the product promised and since October of 2013 have been getting the run around for a refund that is owed to me. I have the initial receipt given to me showing Sundays only for $5.00/month and my bank statement showing that $12.99 was deducted, if I need to provide some kind of proof.

After first moving to the Springs, I received a knock on my door one evening by a lady holding a clipboard. After a brief discussion, I was coerced into signing up for a "trial subscription" of the newspaper in which I would only need to pay the delivery fee (this meant I had to write the lady a check there on the spot). A couple weeks later, I received a bill from the Gazette, which confused me considering I had already written them a check. It turned out that there were more charges than just the delivery fee associated with the subscription, and also, my subscription was going to be renewed at the full price if I did not cancel it in time. After a long discussion with their customer service rep, I was able to cancel my subscription (AFTER PAYING THE EXTRA CHARGES). After canceling, they have continuously called me, pressing me to sign up again. In fact, they now call from a number with the same area code as mine (A MISSOURI AREA CODE) just so I'll answer. Absolutely absurd.

Against my wishes, I have been receiving the Gazette's Sunday Preferred newspaper for several months now. I do not want to receive this free paper. I have called the 'opt out' number over and over ... a total of six times. I have been told every time that the delivery will stop. I feel like the Gazette is littering my drive way. I have to go pick up the pink, plastic-wrapped paper and put it in my dumpster or the papers will pile up. I feel a bit harassed because I have called so many times and I can't get it to stop.
